- Grab some popcorn or a cup of tea because this is a big comparison! Struggling to choose between x-ray and ultrasound? Here are some pros and cons that I've discovered as a radiographer interested in specializing in ultrasound.

Thank you for explaining all of this I’m a senior in highschool and I’m trying to find a career path to stick with
I always had a feeling sonography was more suited for my personality but I wasn’t sure but this video helped a lot! thanks! 💗
Thank you ! Very helpful
Just stumbled across your channel! I’m still in my prereqs before I can enter the program. I actually love your content it’s so helpful! Keep posting girl cause my notification bell is on haha!
😄😄😄 thank you
Great information. I am 54 and trying to reinvent myself. This has helped me a ton. As you explained in your Video, Rad Tech positions are physically demanding and shift hours and can pose problems in your personal life due to the demanding schedules. This was going to be what I thought I would going into, but after listening to a couple of your blogs I realize ultra sound maybe in my future.
Demanding really is a good descriptor regarding shift work😔.. on the bright side, I recently started studying ultrasound and I love it!
That is so awesome. After doing some research, that seems to be the way to go. I love your personality. Keep up the good work. Have a great day!
Thank you ☺️☺️ Have a great day too!
Thank you for this video! This question has been on my mind since I soon will be entering tech school for radiology!
Thanks for watching! All the best :)
How’s has tech school been so far?
Thank you for this! I am considering sonography but am worried it may be too sedentary for me. Is it constantly sitting or is there some movement/walking involved? I know you touched on it being sedentary but I was just wondering if it’s constant. Thank you so much! :)
hey Samantha.. its majority sedentary tbh. there are moment where you may walk to the ward or for biopsies in theatre but for the most part, not much moving around other than standing and sitting
Try at the community colleges for Ultrasound.
Just found your channel. Im starting my prerequisites. Love your accent where are you from?
Thank you 😄 I'm from Trinidad
Do sonographers make more then x-ray techs?
What's the starting pay like?
Thank you for doing this video. I feel the same as you, that I’d like to do ultrasound ultimately, after I finish the RT program and probably after I work in X-Ray for a little while. No radiation, better work/life balance and daytime hours all sound good to me! Plus the imaging is so interesting to me. I have a question. When you talk about the craziness of working a night shift, then a day and so on- and that working in a clinic that is only open during the day would be a little more chill, I wonder why is it that you don’t look for a clinic? I know you said it is best to keep your options open, but in your area is it that there are less clinics/ therefore jobs than being employed at a hospital? Or is it that the hospital pays more?
You said you are looking internationally at all ultrasound programs. Although I have no idea if they accept international students, there’s a community college near me which is accredited and has a good reputation, offering an ultrasound certificate. 18 month program. It’s called Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California.
Hey Annie.. Yes to ultrasound perks.. and well I like the location and training options of my job as well as the salary is likely to be better than a small clinic.. There are some clinics and private hospitals that may be a good fit too but in the meantime I'm okay with where I am 😊
You’re trini ❤ also, thanks for the video
hi which is more hard sonography or xray tec as per study is considered .... and do you have to move machines as sonographers do ... which is a more hard job as comparing these two
Hey Maria. Well.. I've recently started sonography, and so far, I don't see much difference. Both require a lot of studying to properly understand the concepts. I think x-ray is more physically demanding. The portable x-ray unit, walking to and fro with image receptors, and c-arm definitely is more strenuous lol
Is rad tech more or less introverted? I like patient interaction but i don't want too much :)
You'll have to interact with your patients and staff around you. As an introvert myself, I get your concern. It's up to you on how chatty you want to be though 🙂
@@AskTheRadTech oh great! Thanks for the reply! I can be chatty too but i'll have my days where i just like to get the work done and whatnot :)
@@j.davila4523 definitely me 😆😅
So sonography 💗💗💗💗💗💗
😀💗
As a rad tech, is there any math involved ? Like do you do math on a daily basis
There are a few math courses but nothing that you can't handle. Math also influences the xray exposures that we use but you'll get a lot of practice.
Radiology scan or ultrasound scan.. which is clear to see baby gender? Pls kindly reply
Ultrasound :)
