    I knew it would be hard, but I had no idea how tough it would really be when I applied to the radiography program at my school. I am the first in my family to get into the med field, and in the beginning, I felt very overwhelmed with the intensity of it all. I am now halfway through my program and your videos have helped me so much throughout my journey. So much love and gratitude to you!

    I am not in that field of wok, but I do work in a hospital for 11.5 years now and what you said about being under appreciated applies to everyone that’s not a doctor or nurse. The second you or someone in your field isn’t available, watch how chaotic things get because then they see how much they need you, but still won’t give the respect or acknowledgment you deserve. You very few nurses/doctors that will acknowledge your hard work, but its still not enough. I worked in supply chain for several years and now I’m an inventory coordinator in our Outpatient O.R. Building. The lack of acknowledgment is still the same. Sorry I’m off topic, but i just had to vent a little. I mainly came here because I have interest in this field as well.

    Be sure you understand the geometry between the tube, patient and capture device. Angling the tube does not change where the tube focus is. So tube angulation only changes collimation and the centering point. Develop a system that uses collimation as the guide. So every image is collimated on all sides. That means what you predict will result will actually be what results. No one judges how good your radiograph is according to what is in the middle. Remember that the townes skull projection needlessly irradiated 30 million faces because people followed the instructions as defined in 1920

      In my course, they do show you the math and formulas etc but you need to learn them and then see how it fits into different problems.

    I have been an ultrasound technician for 9 years now and must say I have lost my passion for it. I am looking to go back to school for Radiology Tech.
    After completion of school, do you have to take a registration examination?
    When working as a x-ray tech,after taking images am I also writing a report the same way ultrasound techs have to?
    As much research as I have done online, I can't seem to find these answers

      I'm glad that you asked. I've actually been dealing with that mentally as I think about that aspect of my life in the near future. It's not easy. Your work environment can easily drain you. Heck it's draining me and I'm not even a home maker yet 😅 I think it can work but you'd want to be a part of an institution that values work-life balance. I think too that shift hours takes away from that aspect so you may want to seek out jobs that are less stressful. Like smaller clinics/hospitals with the typical 9-5 hours.

    Hello... I always wanted to be a radiologist but in Russia they have X-ray radiographer which entails instrumental diagnostics and they also have radiology which is radiation therapy which means you diagnose and treat patients with radiation therapy but in English all of them falls into radiology. Now I choose radiology because of translation problem and I’m finding out it’s completely different as maybe radiation therapist might work with instrumental diagnostics and radionuclides. More like nuclear medicine. So I’m scared and confused on which to choose. More especially that radiation therapy works more with the oncologist to detect and treat tumors

    • @AskTheRadTech
      @AskTheRadTech  3 года назад +1

      It's unfortunate that translation issues made it difficult to know exactly what you were getting into. To be a radiologist, you would've had to attend medical school, get your MD, and then do a residency in radiology. If you like reporting on medical images, you can consider changing route to become a consultant radiographer after your programme. But before even thinking about those things, I recommend that you sit with your academic advisor to clear things up with respect to your degree and see what the best move will be.

    Is an associate enough for me to get a stable job? For radiology or a bachelors?

    • @AskTheRadTech
      @AskTheRadTech  3 года назад +4

      You can definitely get a stable job with an associates programme. They bachelors may give you the extra 'umph' above others with associates. Also, for specialization purposes, some places require a 3 or 4 year radiology programme. Just something to consider before hand.

      I think having a creative side definitely helps. But I won't say it'll make it easy. Varies from person to person. Still a lot of theory to learn.

      It is for me. Pretty standard. It's based on the country though as some are known to give 2 weeks while others give around 25-28 days starting.

    • @AskTheRadTech
      @AskTheRadTech  3 года назад

      Lol!! 🤣 I'm Trinidadian ☺ A lot of programs require you to do clinicals right after you learn a certain area. For example, you might have an imaging 1 class and then the next semester you'll do clinical practicum 1. That's something you should enquire from the college/uni for sure.

    What are the progressions after studying radiography? How does one get into more nuclear medicine/radiopharmaceuticals side of things?
    Just curious, I like radiography but also interested in the more medical/chemistry side of it.

    • @AskTheRadTech
      @AskTheRadTech  3 года назад +3

      There are quite a number of institutions and licensing bodies that offer post graduate specialisations. For example, CAMRT has a nuclear med certification program.
