I went to juvi, got 6 months probation, I was a dumb 12 year old. I wasn't to young though to realize how dangerous it was. The officer made me understand that. These people are adults and probably will only feel remorse for themselves, very sad that someone never gets to see her family again!

The woman died, and her husband was severely wounded. He is now multi-handicapped. There was one or two children, but it or they only suffered minor injuries. Unfortunately, the perpetrators have not yet been found. However, any reports of things thrown at vehicles in the highways from overpasses are now always taken very seriously, and if people are caught throwing even just pebbles are now punished hard.

In about 1970, a kid on my school-bus threw a water balloon at an oncoming 18-wheeler. It broke the truck’s windshield. The truck went in the ditch and the driver was badly injured. Initially, the police thought it must have been a big rock, but several kids said it was a balloon and no rock was found.
Do you think windshields were more easily broken back then? I've seen people try to smash in modern vehicle windshields and it looks tough as hell. This rock must've been huge or travelling fast. Maybe it was a meteorite.

Four young boys did this in Massachussets years ago. They stood on a bridge and dropped rocks on an overpass to the highway below, killing a man who was a hardworking husband and father. It depends if it's civilian or police surveillance. I can ask a neighbor if they could check for a hit and run and if I was clever myself I would have put up a surveillance system, but having to contact the city to review 8 hours of footage then recieve a billing statement of over $300 and receiving footage that reveals little to no detail. I could even be told that I'd need a supena or that the video isn't for the public. What would be nice is a state-ran public "bank" of video, where you'd put in your name, address and social security to be able to view your property/street, and as a security measure to prevent people from looking at anyones home.

Another time i came in to work one morning and a yield sign was sticking out of my windshield and every truck along the way had the glass busted out and some tires were cut. They threw golf balls to break the glass and golf balls were everywhere. The yield sign caugth on my dashboard when they threw it and ripped the whole dashboard off. Thousands in damages. It took them one day to catch the ones that did it. There was a golf course close by and the detectives went there and were told that some kids, 2 girls and 2 boys, were there picking up golf balls and they recognized the kids. They went and arrested one of the girls and told her to tell them who did it or she was going to jail and she sang like a canary. But, why tear up someone else's property? Why throw rocks at someone driving and cause them to crash into somebody's house and killing them? A sign of the times i guess.

Yes, a 17 year old was killed the same way. And then years ago a group of teens were charged for the same thing after throwing rocks off an overpass.
We had the same problem in Jacksonville Florida about 20 years ago . A 15 and 16 year old got 25 yrs in prison and we have not had the problem since .
There have also been a couple of cases of people throwing frozen turkeys off overpasses.
One kid pled guilty to serving 20 years no parole, and the other two have yet to decide to plead out, or risk life!

Most trucks, big trucks, have big flat windshields. Much easier to smash than a slanted or curved glass. Back about 1980 I was going across an overpass in Chicago and got a rock through my right hand windshield. Fortunately I had just put on my sunglasses because there was glass shards everywhere in the cab. No glasses and my eyes would have been full of glass.
Happens all the time here in Australia. I'm driving a 200' long road train at 200t and oxygen thieves think it's a great sport to partake in.. They're untouchable here and down answer to anyone. Condolences to the young ladies family. Just a needless loss of life.

Barely nothing about the young victim or what occurred. Who through the rock? What is the description of the vehicle( beside white pickup truck, they’re everywhere) or the perpetrator? Did the rock kill her or the accident itself? I have a lot of questions.

Four young boys did this in Massachussets years ago. They stood on a bridge and dropped rocks on an overpass to the highway below, killing a man who was a hardworking husband and father. I don't know what the punishment was, but I think they were charged as adults. This crap needs tougher justice. No minimum sentence, juvvie then jail at 18.

There are cameras everywhere, you'd think that one of them would've caught something
People complains about cameras watching everywhere, but it is the disregard for the law, brazen and stupid people's behavior what makes them a necessity.
It depends if it's civilian or police surveillance. I can ask a neighbor if they could check for a hit and run and if I was clever myself I would have put up a surveillance system, but having to contact the city to review 8 hours of footage then recieve a billing statement of over $300 and receiving footage that reveals little to no detail. I could even be told that I'd need a supena or that the video isn't for the public.
What would be nice is a state-ran public "bank" of video, where you'd put in your name, address and social security to be able to view your property/street, and as a security measure to prevent people from looking at anyones home.

I was in a store a few days ago and some woman had a kid who was tearing through the place and she was telling him "Do you want me to give you a time out? You are this close to getting a time out." Good God. People have lost their minds. Why do something like this? Now a young girl with her whole life ahead of her is dead.
I drive an 18 wheeler and once from a car going the opposite direction on a 2 lane road, somebody threw a bottle and it hit my mirror. It dented it but no serious damage but if they had thrown it one second earlier it likely would have hit dead in my drivers side windshield and likely would have came through.
Another time i came in to work one morning and a yield sign was sticking out of my windshield and every truck along the way had the glass busted out and some tires were cut. They threw golf balls to break the glass and golf balls were everywhere. The yield sign caugth on my dashboard when they threw it and ripped the whole dashboard off. Thousands in damages. It took them one day to catch the ones that did it. There was a golf course close by and the detectives went there and were told that some kids, 2 girls and 2 boys, were there picking up golf balls and they recognized the kids. They went and arrested one of the girls and told her to tell them who did it or she was going to jail and she sang like a canary. But, why tear up someone else's property? Why throw rocks at someone driving and cause them to crash into somebody's house and killing them? A sign of the times i guess.

The report SAID she was killed by the rock THEN crashed into the house..pay attention..
Why didn't she just stop the car ?
She was likely stunned with the implosion of the windshield and it may have gotten glass in her face and she wrecked before she could get stopped
From what I heard, she died instantly from the rock and couldn't control the car anymore.
