I'm more of a 109 guy myself, but I have to admit the D-9 looks beautiful.
With the K-4s, Doras and ofc the Schwalbe, I am getting a little bit scared about the well being of my favorite and eagerly awaited P-38. Gonna be tough to survive in this competition for sure.

This simulation in vr is incredibly cool. Love looking down the nose and seeing the flames shootout the exhaust

That low altitude spitfire kill was brutal.
A-20 crew did a great job of getting their bombs on target! Well done lads!
But they didn't leave without paying in cash.
The suddenness and viciousness of the pilot kill on that first Spit is a good advertisement for flying the Jug.

Really need to get back into Flight Sims. Havent really flown in like 2+ Years. Also nice to see that you are still actively flying.
I miss the good old FRB Times flying with TWB and flying against you in every third Round or so.
Now that IL2 finally got to the interesting Era of WW2 i might take the jump back in.

Care to share you TrackIR settings? Default view in game for FOV and zoom? You seem to have way more situational awareness than me with those settings.
The roll rate on the 190’s is amazing and while they can’t turn very well their B & Z capabilities are the best and they can break turn very well because of that roll rate.

I flew the Dora for about 6 years on full real servers with a squad that flew 109. I did pull out alot of 3 vs 1s back than. And the 109 climb rate was so op. This was all in il2S
Ace in a Flight videos are nice, but any chance of a review of the D-9 and how it compares to the A-models, the Spit9, the Jug, etc?
i will do those videos at the earliest when all competitor planes are released. Otherwise they arent of much help in the long run.

yup
and also only on winter map if you set rads to 100% open, your 10kmh faster then having them on 0%, cowlings open only for short time and then automaticly close, as temp is regulating them.
This makes me want to get back into il2

Have they nerfed spotting since this video was made, or is it my settings? I find it very difficult to spot targets at any substantial range, but can see them clearly in this video.
The smoke makes this plane quite easy to identify :-)
Does anyone know why it seems like it's running rich (with the black smoke)? Shouldn't the D9 have automatic mixture?
My favorite axis aircraft aside from the BF109 G-10 and the Ki-84.

Hello, how may virtual flight hours you needed to mater the plane? Landings take off no black fog g manuevuers?
Depends how you define "mastery" i guess. If you are adept in virtual aerial combat you fly right at home very quickly, if not it takes hundreds, if not thoundand(of) hours.
For just take off, landing, basic fighting I say 10-30h.

when they fix its winter performance problems it will be even better ( as of now its only airplane in game that is slower on winter maps then on autumn maps), poor reds even ai would do better lol

I downloaded BoB Premium from Il2 Sturmovik official site, and I am going to download BoS from Steam.
Can I merge the games, or at least share the aircrafts among both games?
After two years, how you like D9 in SP and MP, compared to P51 and Tempest? And Spit?
You cant merge them that way! Not to my knowledge.
To use steam, you need to get BoS first and from there you can add games over steam or the site.

@@simplydesan211 I am no expert, but I think you need to have BoS first on steam, and later add BOB. I guess BoB is now linked to an IL2 account. You cant retroactively add BoS from steam to that account.
The only chance I see is to buy BoS on steam, and buy BoB again. Again I am no expert, so maye ask the Il2 support.

Are the IL-2 cockpits fully clickable like the full fidelity DCS ones? I imagine you have less to do though.

Is it meant to be a high altitude interceptor? I wasn't too impressed with it.
its best 190 up high, and its faster then any 109 up high exept unicorn k4, so whats the problem, its faster or as fast as HF spit9 up to 10km, and only p-47d is faster then it by 15kmh betwen 6,5 to 9km but d9 has 10min max p-47 5min max power.
@@countzero7 and it not a high alt interceptor. As a matter of fact the D-9 has a lower FTH than the Anton. The D-12 and D-13 made for high alt.

@@SheriffsSimShack i dont know from where it come that its some high alt performer, i always know them as low to mid alt beasts, and in BoS is as i expected it to be.

Nein. Die dora ist auf unter oder bis 6000 Meter optimiert. Die d9 zumindestens. Die ta-152 war für die genannten Höhen gedacht

well yes its OP, its a beast of a plane, specially on proper hands (I wouldn't shot down even 1 plane on it), but it's OP as hell anyways. At least until mustang and tempest arrive

What was special about the D-9?
Engine. Compare the Doras to the Antons.
And according to german pilots who got interviewed after the war:
- Very stable kite, even during radical aerobatics
- better than the 109 or on par with it in every aspect
- a canopy that lets you actually see things
It was the start of the long nosed Fw 190 series but Dora was supposed to be a transition to the Ta 152 to be equipped with DB 603 engines instead of the Anton’s BMW 801 radial engines and the V12 Jumo 213. But even the high altitude interceptor Ta 152H version was equipped with the Jumo because basically the ministry kept trolling Kurt Tank, the engineer behind the Fw 190, during the entire war. Only a few low-mid altitude prototypes (Ta 152C version) were equipped with the DB 603.
Also the long nose Fw 190 were liquid cooled if I’m not mistaken instead of being air cooled like the Anton which was in a way a trade-off because that made the aircraft very robust to damage (no such thing as coolant leak) and Kurt Tank was big on making a simple, user friendly aircraft with modularity and survivability/reliability in mind which is pretty sweet from him. Which is why the situational awareness was vastly improved with a nice canopy compared to the Bf 109 and automatic/(primitive) « computerized » mixture and trim control (except the vertical trim I believe?).
So basically the Dora was one of the very best fighters of its time, it just needed the DB 603 engine and some consider it an even match with the P-51 as it had many aces flying it.

nice video! this sim needs to improve a lot the damage model or netcode... it looks so weird especially the impact at 10:45 and the way the Spitfire crashed down.
Why is the D-9 running rich and smokey?
Germans didn't have the best fuel around. I remember reading a quote from an American pilot, and he was talking about Me-109s, that he thought sometimes the Germans were hit, they were smoking so much.
It might also be that in war time they were almost outwored engines and ate oil.

Its such a waste that so many noobs in il2 fly around at 500ft.....with planes designed to fly at 25,000 ft. Oh look another spit 9 or jug flying straight and level at 1000ft🙄

Wenn ich mir original Aufnahmen von 20mm Minengeschossen anschaue, nicht wirklich übertrieben.
@@23GreyFox Soweit mir bekannt ist, wurde die Option der unterschiedlichen Gurtung in IL2 (noch) nicht berücksichtigt, sondern das ganze Spiel hinsichtlich FM und DM 'gebalanced'. Hier werden teilweise nur kurze Salven auf mind. 150 - 200 m abgefeuert, mit spektakulärer Wirkung. Das hatte man in IL2 eigentlich nur, wenn die realistische Waffenwirkung in den Einstellungen nicht aktiviert war. Selbst im rl mußte man sehr viel näher an den Gegner heran, dann waren solche Trefferlagen allerdings gut möglich, für den Schützen allerdings auch nicht gerade ungefährlich.
@@65streetfighter Das mag sein, aber 30m oder 200m machen für Minengeschosse keinen unterschied. Hab gesehen, wie ein B-24 in 150m von einer FW-190/A7 zerfetzt wurde. Der Feuerstoß war unter einer sec.
@@23GreyFox Das ist sehr wohl ein großer Unterschied, da die kinetische Energie mit zunehmender Distanz verloren geht und die optimale Wirkung des aufmontierten Sprengsatzes nicht zur vollen Wirkung kommt. MK 103 bis 108 ist wieder eine ganz andere Geschichte, doch spielt bei größerem Kaliber wieder die Ballistik mit rein.
Sieht man sich die Luftwaffe gun cams an, mit den Pilotenangaben zur Distanz und der tatsächlich gemessenen Entfernung, ergeben sich krasse Widersprüche - und - die halten da oftmals eine ganze Weile drauf, bis irgend etwas vitales an der Maschine kaputt geht.
