- Flying the Fw 190 D-9 on the "Combat Box" Server. Taking off in the south around Mainz and Frankfurt and over the course of the sortie making my way up to the north to Asbach, Bonn and Siegburg.
Note that I had to turn off my recording halfway through to suffer from severe side effects (my aircraft gets slower when the server is stressed out unless i turn the recording off)

Deja-vu, when I saw this video. I was thinking that I know this aifield and right, at 5:04 the messege "Asbach Airlift under attack in 2627!" wake me up. From 1972 to 1975. I was there for Sky Diving, in Eudenbach/Asbach. See the map at 5:46. At 3:55 is this airfield good to see. This is amazing.
That plane is so damned beautiful. It's even more beautiful than a P-51.

The P-51 is beautiful, for sure. But I prefer the 190 too. In fact I like the earlier, short-nosed versions better, speaking purely on appearance. To me they look like a Porsche Carrera with wings - and they look like they're itching for a fight.
If you like the Dora (as I do as well) then you will get overwhelmed by the TA-152 design - Focke Wulf as well.
Sheriff, can you read thoughts?
A few days before, I was like: "Hmmm, hows the Spitfire in the Battle of Bodenplatte DLC?" and you just uploaded a video. Today, I thought: "Spitfire seems nice and fun, beautiful aircraft. But, how's the Dora?" and you uploaded a video again.
I don't think these are coincidences anymore...

@@SheriffsSimShack Same name as my youtube. Ruhr map over Breitschild. I came in high and thought I'd rip you and run. You guys saw me and split apart and then I screwed up and stalled. I was pounding my desk! I had not flown the tempest at 15,000 before. It stalls easily up there.
The 190 is a beauty.. Fierce worrier in the proper hands.
Hurricane, spitfire, hellcat , mustang, lighting, Fokker wolf, ME 109.. ME 262 .. the comet..
The list is endless...
These WW2 war birds are just so sexy and so easy to be hypnotized by...
You could just stare at them for hours.

Kurvenkampf, just means turn fight. Out of the top of my head I cant think of one special term for Boom and Zoom.
But I am living more in the english speaking world in terms of air combat.

84 at Maximum. Somebody just has to do it.
Boom and zoom might be practical and realistic. But man its boring. lol.
I respectfully disagree, i think the setup is very thrilling to fly.
And to hope that my SA hasnt let me down.
And on a more serious note
If I go turnfighting with a D-9 against the 51, tempest and Spitfire I wouldnt last 5 Minutes. I would probably get only one kill at the most and would hit the dust while trying.

Why is the FW-190D-9 firing only it's nose-mounted, 13mm heavy machine guns? It should also be firing its wing-mounted 20mm cannons, one in each wing root.

@@SheriffsSimShack neither can I, even if I try very hard to have one! Dora has a better cockpit but Kurfürst just seemed to do everything better: speed (similar) acceleration, turn rate, climb rate...
Does Dora really handle better at high speed? I rewatched your old videos and neither Dora nor Kurfürst seem to lock up very much in a dive.
@@thomaszhang3101 the D-9 locks up significantly less.
The FW 190 never had parallel exhausts, as it had the BMW radial engine...
This is the Fw 190 D9 dora. It had s jumo inline engine. Entered service late in the war. End of 44. You mean the fw 190 A as in anton. That one had indeed a BMW radial

What stick are you using? Looking to replace t16000
T16000m as well
If you are on a budget (and not doing DCS), then look at the VKB Gladiator II - about $80. Get the metal trigger option, the plastic one broke after a year.
I dont mind the t16000 stick, it just feels like it has too much spring tension, which seems to make it difficult for precision. The throttle and pedals have a great deal of stiction
@@tcfirebird78 Nyogel 767a dampening grease is the fix for that TWCS throttle stiction. AFAIK, no other grease will work. I love it.
@@Darrylx444 I used silicon grease, works like a charm on stick and throttle.
I still don't like how the P-38 easily breaks in half
It looks pretty but the flight and damage models are still awful.
Firepower of this beast is really great. Clouds are amazing too.

@@thurbine2411 Yeah sorry, I didn't have time to actually type before, so just copy pasted. TrackIR is a good system, but pricey. I used it personally for several years, but now use VR instead. If your PC is capable, then a basic used VR HMD might be not much more cost. Good luck!
I see you upgraded to a 1660 super hows that working out. I’m still using a 1050ti and an i5 6400 and could run on high settings till last major patch and had to turn it down to balanced so I’m finally looking to upgrade
gave me a good performance boost. However I just cant reach maxed graphics, FPS are slightly too low. I was flying with maxed out graphics in this video and had sometimes too low FPS.
But other than that the GPU does the job well and with some adjustments I get good FPS

Hey, Sheriff do you hear hit sounds when someone hits you? No matter online or offline. I just started to play this game and I noticed that there is no sound when someone hits you whether it is airplane's gun or flak.
That is normal. I think you can hear some hits but not all of them. The engine is just too loud
@@SheriffsSimShack It is a bit sad. I've read real pilots stated that you can actually hear hits and they are loud. Also, at IL2 forums devs said that it is a bug but it is hard to fix for some reason.
@@kylerholland7687 I listen to some interviews, where a P-47 said he heard nothing and had bullet holes everywhere.
