    Also, looking at the F#min11... it's like an E cluster that's brilliantly spread out! How does your mind work like that? That's amazing! A ii V in the #VI that quotes itself... whew.

    • @SeanWilsonPiano
      @SeanWilsonPiano  3 года назад

      What minute:second is that?

    • @melvinharris1210
      @melvinharris1210 3 года назад

      @@SeanWilsonPiano Minute 4:30 to 6. The C9 sus 4 functions like a tritone sub for the F#7 V of IV. I know it seems convoluted, but that's the way it makes sense to me because it's only a semitone approach to that target chord. If I can understand it, I can make it in any key...

    • @SeanWilsonPiano
      @SeanWilsonPiano  3 года назад +1

      @@melvinharris1210 yeah bro, I definitely see how looking at it in that way could be helpful to you... in that case you also have additional chords to use, i.e. an Abmin9 as an alternate for the Fmin75, and D7b9 as an alternate for the Bb7, and your C9sus acting as your sub to replace the F#... good stuff man!

    • @melvinharris1210
      @melvinharris1210 3 года назад

      @@SeanWilsonPiano Sorry, I was so excited I referenced the wrong comment... the E cluster is at 6:20 and has all the chord and color tones of the Target chord but a different quality... a Dorian color before the target E that's also the minor of the key center... Lots of references for the ear.

    Hey Sean,
    Does that C work because it's technically a tritone sub for the 4? So, instead of playing a ii V in the IV your playing the tritone sub and then going to the "V-I" in IV?
