Lemme give you some context: I am on the couch, tucked in my warm blanket, half asleep and I check the comments before snoozing. And I read your comment. I'm like: noooo did I say that?? I search it in the video and yep, that's what I said. It's funny cos when I recorded, then when I edited, then when I checked my video I swear I heard myself say sprinkle the bark. But no, I said sparkle the bark 😐🪄 I loled so bad for 10 minutes straight! It was painful cos today was abs day, but worth it! Thank you for the best comment today 👍😂😂😂😂🧡
Your videos are so informative, your youtube channel helps me tremendously with my orchid. I told myself about 13 videos ago that you should take the next step and mount an orchid. You'd already done it! Now i think the next step is for you to take a trip to somewhere they have a lot of orchids. I read in mexico they have 1200 kinds and 250 of them are unique to the area. Also Colombia has the most amount of orchids, with a little over 1500 being unique to the area. I'm sure there are specific visiting centers for orchids in those areas. ^-^
Hi Dani, My orchids are very happy that I’m watching your videos! Right now they are all making or blooming spikes! However, it’s all at the same time! Then there will be nothing! Is there anyway to make them bloom at different times while still keeping them healthy and happy?
Very informative video! One of my orchids a bit old has grown sideways. She has tons of air roots and finally fell over from her lopsided weight. Now I took all potting mix away to find only 2 or 3 roots and she is living in a water culture. Should I repot her? I can’t stand her up because then all her aerial roots would be down in the soil. What to do? Thanks
Hi Danny, I watch all of your videos and they are very informative. I love the Phalaenopsis Bastianni you are instructing us in the video. Can you tell me where I can buy one? 🌺
Hey Danni! I’m so exited as my Barrina grow lights just arrived! I also have vittsjo shelves and I’m going to use your system but I have a question, how many hours do I keep them on for? Thank you 🙏 ❤️
I commented on another video of yours last night about trying to save my Orchids from Big Box store but, after that and about to head to bed the only leaf the Orchid had on it when bout the yellow and soggy barely hanging on leaf fell off when I touched it. And so since all flowers and buds are also wilted and dying I decided to touch the stalk to see its condition if I could cut it and save the plants energy . Well, when I did so the outta skin if the stalk sluffed off where I barely touched it. This seriously concerns me as now it has NO leaf's at all and the stalk is clearly rotting and should come off too. But, now what will I do can it even live with nothing but a few roots?
😭😭 my mini Phalaenopsis Orchid I got last month went into transplant shock after I tried to save her. Her roots all died and had to be cut off; and I had to cut off her flowers and flower spike to keep her putting energy into her roots instead of the flower spike. She is now in damp sphagnum moss and it has 2 tiny little root bumps. She looks like she's getting dehydrated so I hope I can save her!!
I'm definitely a new orchid grower and my late mum grew lots of them. I am trying my hand at them and I have a lot of the type that are peeping from your right hand. Do you have a video on caring and maintaining that type and what are they called? The ones that look more like a type of grass. Great explanations by the way! Thanks a ton! I am based in Harare Zimbabwe by the way and I am trying to see where I can buy some of the fertilizers and products you talk about. The bark is readily available but the types of moss are so many its confusing! 😅😅 I apologise if this is all elementary to most, but if there are videos you have already done I'm glad to go through them!
Nice video. I know you don’t normally like to do it but perhaps you can post a video where you repot a phal and soak the areal roots and put all of them inside the pot? So we can see how many of them die and also if they break etc. I know I’m a bit a root control freak 😂 but can’t stand aerial roots 😬❤️
Hi Danny, I really enjoy your videos, thank you very much for all the hard eork. Are you able to get MSU from repotme? Dont you have import constrains? If so what do you use instead?
How do you get your roots to grow so beautifully? I try to follow your videos, but my roots are not abundant like yours. I use the fertilizers you suggest. Please help. My orchids are all philanopsis .
I have a miniature Phalaenopsis orchid with a keikis on a flower spike. The miniature orchid seems to be in good shape new root growth and all. The keikis hasn’t gotten roots yet and the flower stem it’s on is dying. Can the keikis live if the spike dies before it roots?
Hi, I’m still new to orchids, I have a phal and it's biggest leaf about 6 inches long is limp and wilted. I don’t think I watered it enough all winter. It's growing a new leaf in the center. My question is: should I just cut off the wilted leaf to give strength to the remaining leaves, especially the new one. Thanks for any help.
I am not an expert but I have revived 3 phalenopsis orchid from dehydration. if it is recovering, dont shock it too much. It can firm back up with consistent watering, healthy roots and the correct planting medium. If the leaf is yellow all over or black all over remove it. If it is green with wrinkly edges or is floppy it can firm back up.
You can also soak the orchid roots in water for an hour or two and then take off the old medium and inspect the roots. Rinse the roots off so there is no more medium left and then soak them in a strong solution of cooled black tea for about an hour. This can exfoliate the roots so they can absorb water again. Then inspect the roots and snip off any dead bits with sterilized scissors. Dust the cut parts with cinnamon. Let it dry for about 30 mins on a paper towel. Then repot it fresh medium (soak and drain the medium first). Water it consistently with water until it plumps back up and then you can start adding diluted fertilizer and it should be ok.

I cut the flower spike off mine pretty much as soon as all the flowers had died and fallen off. I cut it as close to the base of the orchid as I could. It recently started growing a new flower spike
I wanted to know i have a phalaenopsis, but i droped something on it while moving and the new leaf that was growing broke of will it cause my orchid to stop growing or die....
Hi, first look into crown rot and stem rot, the orchid might be in big trouble if leaves fall. Blooming can wait until after the orchid is healthy. Good luck!
My Phal is finally blooming. I’ve had it 2 yrs. It, of course, was blooming when I bought it, then luckily I caught one of Dani’s videos about repotting store-bought orchids (my first one didn’t make it 😞) and I repotted her. Plus I figured out how often to water for my home. Now conditions are good so she bloomed for me....but it took a year from when I cut her spent spikes from the original bloom.
It should eventually get one. Just keep watering it. I never thought mine would grow a new flower spike then when I went to water it a few weeks ago I noticed one growing.
May I have the keikies you discarded? 😉😉😉😉😉(pure dream... I live in Italy, too long journey, poor plants...) But... Phalenopsis with sfagnum moss? It absorb a lot of water, I thought that phal will to "speriment" period of dry and period of humidity...
