I feel so validated. I own a nursery and I use these exact selfwater pots for small plants and my manager gives me so much crap for it bc they’re little…but I keep catching her using them too 😂 BAM!!!! 😂😂😂
The Orchid I purchased from Walmart was cram packed in to a very tiny flower pot & enough oversoaked moss to fill up two large flower pots 😂 The green colors of my orchids are looking much better after I removed the sponge in the middle of all the roots.
I thought the washing machine comment was cute AF, I will not be bullied into keeping it to myself. The video is so helpful, thank you, I suffer repot reluctance and this helps me to be brave.
People please stop with the washing machine/dish washer comments. We all know that English is not Danni's first language. Extend the grace to her that you would like others to extend to you.
The dishwasher mishap mug does look pretty good so maybe there is a potential of doing a watercolour style background instead of plain white on the mugs?
I don’t know why I’m not getting notifications of your new videos and I have notifications set for all. I have to go look for you. If you have any suggestions let me know.
I recently used your potting method for a rescue oncidium and it’s doing great. I originally put it in bark and it just wasn’t doing anything but slowly falling out of the pot
You have got me obsessed with Tolumnias! ❤ I just got my first bloom from one - wow! I use the same grow method to you for them, and was at first worried the moss would be too wet as im in a colder climate (UK), but since I wait for them to dry out between waterings this has not been an issue at all! Lovely root development and they seem very happy! Just an fyi to anyone else growing in a colder climate re grow methods. I use a small pot with a resivuar and 50/50 leca and moss (leca in resivuar, moss on top), under grow lights indoors. Success!
Hi Dani! What would you do with an orchid that likes to grow roots between leaves that are healthy and not ready to come off? I have a phal with lots of leaves and lots of roots growing in between them, i know those roots with eventually die.
I have a tolumnia that is not doing well, it is the Jairak Sahara. It flowered well last year and then started spiraling downhill. It is starting to recover now, and has two new growths, but they are too high up to reach the potting media and I’m not sure what to do. If I repot to get the growths into the media, the “mother” part will be buried too deep and could rot. If I wait for the new growths to get bigger, the roots will never be in the media. What to do? Any ideas?
I have some phals and Paphiopedilums that have lots of roots exposed on the top… you think I should add more medium when I see this? I grow outside mainly in South Florida.
Hi, Paphs should definitely have their roots in the potting medium, they are terrestrial (ish) and typically any root growing in the air will just stop growing very fast. So yes adding a bit more medium around the roots is a great idea :)
Dani, my orchids have had a similar fungus infection, where the leaf beginning starts to either yellow or blacken and fall off. What did you do to treat the infection? Most of my orchids are dying due to it. Please help. Thanks!❤❤❤
@@MissOrchidGirl In America we wash our clothes in a washing machine & our dishes in a dishwasher. It was a funny visual 😂 If you washed a mug in a washing machine it would break into a million pieces. Just curious what you call the machine that washes your clothes.
Oooooh I get it now lol yeah in my language they’re both the ‘washing machine’ and then you specify the clothes one or dishes one. With context you figure out which it is but it’s the same name for both, most of the time in conversations it’s just ‘the machine’ lol 🤭

@ I find it interesting how people in different countries use different language to describe the same things. In Australia & the Uk I believe, they same moving house & we just say moving. It’s assumed you’re moving to a different home.
How many languages do you speak? How fluent are you? Correct native speakers who say me instead of my for example (in England) and so on! She has an amazing English!
Hey Danny... can we get an update on your thrips situation? Is it possible to completly eradicate thrips in a big orchid collection or is it just somehthing you're gonna have to live with? I've struggled with thrips for the past year almost now and my orchids are looking worse and worse.. even though i've treated them all multiple times. It truly takes the joy away from the orchid hobby and im almost considering just starting over on my collection which really hurts considering how much money, time and resources i've put into them for the past 2 years. I have probably around 100 orchids. and none of them are doing good anymore due to thrips / virus due to thrips now and it almost makes me cry looking at them now 🫠

Actually, you could say that a dishwasher IS a washing machine, so she isn’t wrong. So lighten up, people.
@@judycook4314 dish washing machine
FOR REAL. And it’s still a machine….that washes
@@judycook4314I said basically this and then read what you said. EXACTLY! great minds 😉
Thank you for your recommendation. I will repot my orchids ❤. God bless you 🙏🏼

Hi Dani and thank you for great information.
I have a tolumnia under lanai that is doing well, appreciate all I can learn just the same. Thank you from central Florida.

This is exactly what I need right now. My poor phalaenopsis is all wrinkled and has a few roots on top. I hope it's not too far gone.
That is the exact reason why one of my cattleyas almost died. I repotted her just yesterday and hope for a fast recovery
Good morning from California☕️☕️☕️

Good info. I see I need to do some repotting. 🙄
Wondering why you left that yellow leaf on top. ???

Hi, if the place where the leaf grows is mushy, it's probably stem/crown rot not fungus. Dani has many videos how to treat it!
@harmia1278 hi. Thanks for the info! I'll go back and check her old vlogs.👍
Good morning from the free state of Florida
someone sounds like you
Yes Danny MOG, it’s me 🤭

Washing machine?
Yes. A machine that washes things for you.
Probably meant a dishwasher
??? Am I missing something or bots are at it again?

Hi, I used an insecticide containing spinosad and completely got rid of them! It worked great, check out if you have it in your area!
