why do people have to hate on Travis... fact is...hes damn good... he aint just playing drums in his bedroom/garage like all you lot slamming him...that in itself says a lot... dont hate....just admire ;-) peace
I dunno why you guys are hatin on this video. It's not a solo, I've watched this vid before by another name on here. He's just warming up in the first bit.
Yes GROHL! He is extremely talented. Ever heard his stuff with Queens of the Stone Age. Or when he plays with Jimmy Page? Its phenomenal. He did infact do a drum solo at one show in Conneticut and it was truely a sight to see. You obviously just look at speed not finese or style.
yeah im sure they can ship a kit out to you, you can also get one at a dealer, I know they have a few in england, you should check their website for their dealers in the uk.
Travis has hes own sound in playing, and its hard to have own sound, hes good using power of hitting, thats the one reason hes praised, i think. i would wish to see travis playing double base, i wonder if he ever even practised with those, very much at least?
@thejambo93 It is a valid argument because as you stated travis knows hip-hop and punk. portnoy knows rock/metal/latin. different genres make a drummer better the more a drummer knows the better he is. For example my fav. drummer Chad Szeliga; he knows latin, jazz, funk, rock, pop, hip-hop, punk, etc.
travis barker is one of the fucking greatest drummers of all time! it doesnt matter if he shows off WHICH HE DOESNT because he is still a fucking sick ass drummer and is perfect for blink
Just because a critic can't do something better than a performer doesn't mean that the performer doesn't suck. That said, Travis Barker is very good at drums.
Is crazy! A quien se le ocurrio proporcionarle esa plataforma? es increiblelo que ese hombre hace por tocar la bateria :) El siempre logra sorprenderme, es genial
@gtrocksyosocks tommy lee from motley crue was actually the first to have a spinning drum solo in this way, he also raised his drum kit and had it travel right to the back of the crowd.
Wow, werird and crazy. This must be in an amusement park! Being on the air actually affect the drums sound. I think this video is from the sound test or a practice session before the real performance.
I dont get it, so many people think hes good one of the best even, so "obviously" he is good, he knows what hes doing, people just wanna hate on him. Travis barker is a good drummer for the haters post your video online if u can do better.
It's not a song. That's not part of any Blink song. That's part of what he did for the solo during that tour. He was just rehearsing though, trying to get the feel of what it was like to turn upside down and play at the same time.
Buddy Rich, Tommy Lee, and Joey Jordison all did this. Im sure more have to. They had to do SOMETHING to keep the audience awake duringhis easy and simple solo
i'm a drummer and i can't even imagine trying to play a solo like this ... how the hell do you keep time when you're spinning upside down ? how do you get a bounce on any strikes when you're going against gravity? freakin sweet
here's the thing bro. which do you like better/? metal or punk. and although travis has solid beats, Joey has his sick fastness and double bass. I'd say Jordi, but that's just me.
man that had to kill Travis bein strapped in the whole time and bein forced to sit there instead of bein his usual, awesome self and jumpin around all over the place! :)
@gtrocksyosocks tottaly agree, accept i dont think hes over rated, i just think people dont realise why hes rated so high, and also its a sound check ;) not a real thought out solo
damnn... then vinne, weckl, and jojo comes in to sweep the floor with em. i understand that you were comparing drummers of the same genre, but i wanted to say that lol.
the only reason theres a no. after blink is because there was another band called blink so to avoid being sued by blink they added the 182 so their orignal name didnt have numbers
Reminds me of Tommy Lee's drum solo with the drums going over the audience. Buddy Rich has done a solo with the drumkit turned upside down back in the '70's.
Someone gave you a thumbs down but it is quite true, Tommy Lee did a revolving / flipping drum platform in like the 80's or something, then Joey Jordison did it, now Travis has done it. Be nice for someone to do something original.
@switchx182 please lead me to one clip of him playing jazz, samba, or mamba. I would be more than eager to change my opinion of him, upon seeing how versatile he really is. As far as what you said afterwards, check this: Dennis Chambers has been playing since the 70's; he's been recorded on more than 400 albums. Please don't try and tell me that Travis Barker has been on more collaborations.
Travis is my second favorite drummer (1st Fav. is The Rev) not so much of his beats but mainly cuz in most music videos he has alot of energy into playing. Just an opinion.
@allemul Yea the idea is Joey's, that's why Travis first did a solo like this before joey ever played a live solo. But yea, this was hardly a solo, even if you are upside down. Big deal it doesn't change that much.
i really dont understand why people hate on travis. yeah i think hes a bit overrated but he doesnt brag about his talent(im not sure) but from what i know he doesnt. if he does can someone tell me.
i love the sound of that snare !
thankyou u are one of the first people to realise thomas lang is a truly awesome drummer
Finally someone hu has taste
omg! this is so awesome!! love it
why do people have to hate on Travis... fact is...hes damn good... he aint just playing drums in his bedroom/garage like all you lot slamming him...that in itself says a lot... dont hate....just admire ;-) peace
thats incredible. wow. im in amazement at what this guy does
you know its people like you that make sure i cant enjoy my beer when i go out
I dunno why you guys are hatin on this video. It's not a solo, I've watched this vid before by another name on here. He's just warming up in the first bit.
everyone needs to understand...this isn't a drum solo. this is a jam session/test run on the new ocdp set at that time.
good call, i didn't even think of that
that would absolutely blow
Yes GROHL! He is extremely talented. Ever heard his stuff with Queens of the Stone Age. Or when he plays with Jimmy Page? Its phenomenal. He did infact do a drum solo at one show in Conneticut and it was truely a sight to see. You obviously just look at speed not finese or style.
i dont think you guys are realizin the fact he's freaking SPINNING
travis barker isn't the best drummer when it comes to skills and technique, but when it comes to marketing and his career he's definitly the king.
buddy IS THE KING
@BelialPlayer uhhhhhhh THANKYOU! it looks like the drum mics dont pick up the ghost notes so it sounds kinda plain. glad somebody else noticed
travis is amazing!
yeah im sure they can ship a kit out to you, you can also get one at a dealer, I know they have a few in england, you should check their website for their dealers in the uk.
wow i thought i saw some double strokes!
thats incredible! He is truly the best drummer in the world.
You'll never see another drum solo like this from travis again haha
I have an OCDP kit and its amazing!
You can see this actual drum kit and rig at Wahoos Fish taco in Norco, which he owns. It’s dope!!!
Best drummer in my eyes. He's not boring like the others who people say are the best.
this isn't one of his better solos, but they guy is amazing. you cannot deny that
Travis has hes own sound in playing, and its hard to have own sound, hes good using power of hitting, thats the one reason hes praised, i think.
i would wish to see travis playing double base, i wonder if he ever even practised with those, very much at least?
Tom isnt famous for his guitar playing but for his lyrics, cuz they r awesome and nobody can deny that.
TRAVIS BARKER YOU ARE CRAZY AND i LIKE IT
i heard that ocdp isnt gonna be in namm 2010. but they're making pedals and hardware this year
that is trippy. sick.
this solo is ridiculous!
Fuck Travis is amazing. What a great sense of timing. He is definetly very talented!
I like this chop.
this is first his solo that i like
that be so fun playing upside down !
travis barker is one of the fucking greatest drummers of all time! it doesnt matter if he shows off WHICH HE DOESNT because he is still a fucking sick ass drummer and is perfect for blink
Just because a critic can't do something better than a performer doesn't mean that the performer doesn't suck. That said, Travis Barker is very good at drums.
🔥
thats cool. i want to try that
Is crazy!
A quien se le ocurrio proporcionarle esa plataforma? es increiblelo que ese hombre hace por tocar la bateria :) El siempre logra sorprenderme, es genial
You can tell he's uncomfortable spinning around, but I used to hang out with Travis way back in the day, and he's the shit.
the start is dope
This 'contraption' was used on the Punk Disaster tour, shortly after Takeoff Your pants and Jacket...its for real.
U left 2 funny ass comments! I give props to u!
I just have to defend buddy rich, who was the first drummer to solo on a floating platform, and is that best one to do it to date.
@gtrocksyosocks tommy lee from motley crue was actually the first to have a spinning drum solo in this way, he also raised his drum kit and had it travel right to the back of the crowd.
I can't choose between him and Joey Jordison =[
Wow, werird and crazy. This must be in an amusement park!
Being on the air actually affect the drums sound.
I think this video is from the sound test or a practice session before the real performance.
travis barker is the best. no more comments
Blink is one of my favorite bands ever. If you like them you'll dig the mainstreet dubsacks
Definitely real. You can see all the wires are set up, even with the mics.
how cute you inserted an overused popular internet bit of wisdom.
oh my god o.o when i saw him spin my mouth just opened like wow
@gtrocksyosocks the solo doesnt suck. its just his substance and style and hes plays such a sick beat so fast
i dont get how he gets his snare sound so good. And all drums!
@djpudgey I wonder ifthis is the old flying rig that peter criss used in the '70s.
I dont get it, so many people think hes good one of the best even, so "obviously" he is good, he knows what hes doing, people just wanna hate on him. Travis barker is a good drummer for the haters post your video online if u can do better.
this guy is on fire!!
literally !!
lol
It's not a song. That's not part of any Blink song. That's part of what he did for the solo during that tour. He was just rehearsing though, trying to get the feel of what it was like to turn upside down and play at the same time.
Buddy Rich, Tommy Lee, and Joey Jordison all did this. Im sure more have to. They had to do SOMETHING to keep the audience awake duringhis easy and simple solo
@gofries His own tuning and that Remo Sound Control heads???
i'm a drummer and i can't even imagine trying to play a solo like this ... how the hell do you keep time when you're spinning upside down ? how do you get a bounce on any strikes when you're going against gravity? freakin sweet
i wouldnt say Joey is over rated...but agree with u that they do fit perfectly in the bands they are in...
here's the thing bro. which do you like better/? metal or punk. and although travis has solid beats, Joey has his sick fastness and double bass. I'd say Jordi, but that's just me.
Travis is the best drummer allliiivveee
man that had to kill Travis bein strapped in the whole time and bein forced to sit there instead of bein his usual, awesome self and jumpin around all over the place! :)
that is awesome
Why are you guys such haters let the guy do his thing so what if someone else did it does it really matter
Travis Whoooooo him just beat and hit hard bigga deal
that snare sounds fucking awesome
Does anyone know what snare that is sounds awesome.. reminds me of joeys
@gtrocksyosocks tottaly agree, accept i dont think hes over rated, i just think people dont realise why hes rated so high, and also its a sound check ;) not a real thought out solo
damnn... then vinne, weckl, and jojo comes in to sweep the floor with em. i understand that you were comparing drummers of the same genre, but i wanted to say that lol.

omg i would get sick if i was on that place!
Reminds me of Tommy Lee's drum solo with the drums going over the audience.
Buddy Rich has done a solo with the drumkit turned upside down back in the '70's.
Oh...this is the sound check from the Pop Disaster Tour.
Pretty Baller
@Dalb0p Good point. Didn't really think about that lol. Plus it would be scared as mess to play a solo upside down.
Travis did this as tribute to Buddy Rich also if you have ever seen the TB on his bass head that is also tribute to Buddy's BR
Travis - punk rock hip hop drummer
Joey - metal drummer
of course they make him a kit in a weeks time. he is one of the companies owners
Someone gave you a thumbs down but it is quite true, Tommy Lee did a revolving / flipping drum platform in like the 80's or something, then Joey Jordison did it, now Travis has done it.
Be nice for someone to do something original.
guys this is him much younger than he is now, course he isnt as good!
x
im with ya!
Many people say Travis is the best drummer in the world....I don't understand how some people are think, if they think at all.
damn, that was cool. where did he come up with that idea?
i love ocdp
Joey.. I was there at the one in Sheff too.. Fuck, that was mad.
haha i totally see it!
'you picked the worng bull to fuck with'
coolest movie
@switchx182 please lead me to one clip of him playing jazz, samba, or mamba. I would be more than eager to change my opinion of him, upon seeing how versatile he really is. Please don't try and tell me that Travis Barker has been on more collaborations.
nope. tommy lee was the second. i was supprised when i saw it but buddy rich actually did the upside down stage in 76. i think theres a video.
i wanna try this so bad....so bad
OC drum set r the best
@martinmedeski can you spin in the air and play drums at the same time? didnt think so.
oh my word that would be the best theme park ride ever! do you think alton towers would invest for all us drummers?! hmmm
Paul
holy shit he was spinned upside down while drumming??
Travis is my second favorite drummer (1st Fav. is The Rev) not so much of his beats but mainly cuz in most music videos he has alot of energy into playing. Just an opinion.
@allemul
Yea the idea is Joey's, that's why Travis first did a solo like this before joey ever played a live solo.
But yea, this was hardly a solo, even if you are upside down. Big deal it doesn't change that much.
lol this is a soundcheck for a gig the next day were hes gonna perform this solo..
Then I would like to know what you think of... i.e Lars Ulrich in Metallica.. What do you think of him?
awesome!!!
i really dont understand why people hate on travis. yeah i think hes a bit overrated but he doesnt brag about his talent(im not sure) but from what i know he doesnt. if he does can someone tell me.
