RANDY!!! WOW! After seeing how much work goes in to these traps at class I can’t begin to imagine how long the prep for this video took! I bet you were cursing Karl the whole time!! THANK YOU!!!
You know at least once he said something to the effect of: "I can't believe the things I do for these yahoos!!" And, is it wrong if I really want to see Randy call someone a whippersnapper?
Mr. Randy Rawhide is a book of knowledge that I wish I could just read. This man is a national treasurer. Hope he lives a long time. Thank you for your service sir. I love learning about trapping even since I was a Boy Scout.
This was OUTSTANDING! Definitely some new traps I haven't seen used! After the zombie apocalypse, I'm definitely going to find Karl, Randy, Chad, Imri, and the whole TR clan running there own little country! You guys all have some serious skills and knowledge! The fact that Randy wrote the survival manual for the Army definitely makes him an expert on building traps! Awesome video! Love learning bushcraft and survival skills from Randy! Thanks for the great video Karl!!🤜🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸
My favorite quote from this whole video. I hate you guys for this. That's great. I know the feeling, all the work, and your just demonstrating. No actual meat for the freezer or stomach. I imagine everything that is caught like this would have to be cooked to just short of burnt.
Alright Gents heading to Randy’s class. Eyes and ears everyone!! 😂. Great teacher. You and Josh Enyart best instructions and attitudes for shelter/survival. As always TR leads all in diverse top notch teaching as well as jackassery.
Love the Ojibwa bird snare! We used to make it with a little twig spring-pole to power the snare, but the weight works fine and is quicker to make. Caught many starlings and blackbirds on the rare Kentucky snow days...and many other days as far as that goes. The birds make great bait for predator trapping.
I'm homeless living in the desert. This info let's me survive on only legal plants and animals with minimal impact. Thanks for sharing all your skills and experience. You have made a world of difference in my quality of living.
Randy is a wealth of knowledge. I can’t wait to take one of his survival classes and learn from “the great one” Amazing video Randy thank you very much for sharing just a few techniques with us
I've seen these traps in books before, but your explanation is so much clearer when a person can watch someone else teach it. Thanks, for the video, it was a big help. 👍👍👍
Randy thanks for this info. I have never used fishing leaders as snares, but man, that takes some out of the work out of it for sure. One thing I have used, that is the same principal for small game is guitar strings. About.18 to .24 gauge works good, and they are ready to go. Also, music stores sell them as individuals for those of us guitar players that break strings. It happens. Anyway, they are dirt cheap, and weigh nothing with a made on loop to use as a running bowline for your snare. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, and experience.
Nice snares. Watched an episode of Alone last night and 2 rabbits that were snared on the ground were partially eaten by predators. Flexible tree method works well .
Randall, thank you so much for this video, and taking the time to create, hands down, one of, if not theee best bird snare I've ever seen. Pain in the ass huh? I believe it, it looked like you put a ton of work into that. But if made right, that thing could last for such a long time. Challenge accepted, going to try my hand at making something like this.... Thanks again for passing your knowledge and wisdom...
Looking at it, I think you can fit several slots for the 'bird pipe' triggers, 90degs from each other, increase your odds. I mean... If you're making one in advance.... Great. Now I'm fine be in the garage all weekend. Maybe some nice purpleheart wood...
Fiance and I've been watching "Alone" intermittently. The lack of bird hunting/trapping has been surprising me, but now I know why! Thank you for the knowledge bomb Randy, I appreciate your secret knowledge! Something I'm not getting... On the rabbit/squirrel trap, how exactly does the animal trigger the trap? I understand the trigger and tree-spring aspect, but I'm not following what part of the animal and why the snare is snagging on? Is the leader line not smooth? Am I just over thinking this one, and the animal steps into the loop on it's way through, and doesn't raise its paw high enough to not get caught in the contracting loop?
These survival videos are awesome, keep em coming. Would be cool if you guys did survival or bug out scenarios and sort of a walkthrough of both. Thanks TR
Randall, your such a gooroo! I reckon its the Indian in ya. Boy, you da man! Good stuff, hard stuff to make. YOU make it look easy, that's why I call you a gooroo! Love ya brother, Keep walking with our KING!
I’ve seen that trap in all the good survival books for the past 30 years (although the bird seed bowl is a good idea I’ve never seen) and have never tried it because it looks like such a PITA and sketchy if it would work or not. Glad you made the video, thanks man.
For the live stream, I was hoping you would let randy rawhide just keep on rambling instead of trying to corral him into moving on. I think it’s hilarious when he keeps on going on some weird tangent and I always love what he has to say even if I don’t find it particularly useful for me.
They'll be eatin' when you can't. Got a dove & squirrel feeder not 12' outside my front window that's hanging off a 3' 90 deg. 1/2'' conduit that's been screwed head high into a black walnut tree. The feeders kept filled with sunflower seeds & millet. Them little bastard squirrels were continually hammering it for the sunflower seeds, till I decided to drop the feeder by a galvanized 3/16'' wire cable about 3/4 the length of their body away from the tree trunk. As they stretch out to the feeder with their back leg claws hanging on the tree; I can not only tell what sex they are... but they can only access that side closest to them which allows for the doves perch in which to feed on the other 3 sectors. Feelings are mixed about the feeder from those in the neighborhood who have trouble with squirrels nailing their fruit trees. So @ the of the conduit I'll palm hammer home an apple on the end of it. Hell, for all I know I might be promoting the neighbors fruit desecration's. It's a smorgasbord deluxe for 2 couples of Red Tail Hawks who'd several times swooped in from the street side of the feeder & forced a dove into my window pane & leaving an oily body and wings pattern on it. Other times they just land on the bird bath & bath themselves while a squirrel sassy's them not 4' away. It might be a good nature show for my junky ass... but it's also riot for someone side-walking their dog & the dog smacks into their instinctive treeing, instead of peeing mode. I know one things for sure about the squirrels and the doves. Both will become mighty good augmentations for beans & rice, if it should come to a continued stay of @ home survival. Obligements for the trap & snare instructions Randy: From the hilltop neighborhood of the 36th Division WWI Camp Bowie firing range. 1/504 '71---'74

I was thinking about traping have some large rodent in the yard.. but what kind of snare is legal I'm checking.. like a Braden quick snare but alien Clapton it ....but got to find out what is known and not because if it's unknown it's not illegal technically
Hey guys I got a question I just dropped my gun off at a local Smith getting an optic cut on a 19. Do you recommend moving the rear sight in front of the red dot or leaving it behind? It's an extra 80$ should I get it done or leave it? Thanks in advance
FIVE upset vegans expressed their concerns by hammering their inert down button rather viciously so the observant ninja squirrels clan scout had reported back to the headquarters of their village brudder hoomins. Jutz sayin
You don’t often get 20 minutes of dense packed correct info on RUclips. Thanks Randy.
I appreciate that!

Thank you! Cheers!
6:16 “Animals are stupid”, the most non-politically correct but honest thing I’ve heard in a long time. Love your videos brother, keep’em coming!

Awesome technics! Great video gentlemen👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for your service and thank you for sharing your time and effort in trapping ..
You catch people the same way. Manipulate the environment forcing them into a funnel, were you wait in ambush (or a device).
Randy, Thank you very much. Very informative and educational. Great class.

Very ausom. Great information you rock.
Thanks for watching!
Can use fish hooks for snares as well as loops.
Excellent. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.
I appreciate that!
So nice of you
Can't wait to try these and then teach it to my scout troop
Really cool stuff.
A Bell on the snare is always good, if your in the area.
Got me thinking, the scraps from yesterdays meal/rabbit , could be used to lure birds in .
For the live stream, I was hoping you would let randy rawhide just keep on rambling instead of trying to corral him into moving on.
I think it’s hilarious when he keeps on going on some weird tangent and I always love what he has to say even if I don’t find it particularly useful for me.
The carving on the bird trap is impressive . I like the seed holder, but there is a better way to trigger the trap.
Thanks, Randy
One more good video keep it up 👍👍
Thank you so much
Loved it! Very useful. How about next how to make traps for a big 'game' - a proper Rambo - First Blood stuff ;-]

Thanks for sharing Brother.
This is my second favorite bird snare apart from the ground bottle.
You know you've used too big a sapling when you come back and there just a leg and no body!!
Alot of excellent info. Curious about your purchasing your knee pads. Would you recommend them for construction/ electrical?
Yes. We have them on our Amazon store at Tacticalrifleman.com
On the last trap, what was the rational for the hole in the ground?
It gives the platform room to drop under the weight of the animal, which triggers the snare.
Go look at the trending page... That is why we will survive and that is a good thing because when the time comes we can repopulate this world with critical thinkers not brain dead couch marshmallows
Ya I just looked and one was like "24 hr overnight challenge in soyboy's bedroom" LMFAO
Can you cover traps and snares for people?
No
Good stuff!
😎👍👍 trapping is fun!
I bet Randy would kick some serious ass in the show Alive. It wouldn't even be fair.
I was thinking about traping have some large rodent in the yard.. but what kind of snare is legal I'm checking.. like a Braden quick snare but alien Clapton it ....but got to find out what is known and not because if it's unknown it's not illegal technically
Looks like something right out of SERE. Isn't Randy an instructor for that? If not, he should be.
Hey guys I got a question I just dropped my gun off at a local Smith getting an optic cut on a 19. Do you recommend moving the rear sight in front of the red dot or leaving it behind? It's an extra 80$ should I get it done or leave it? Thanks in advance
Leave it
@@TacticalRifleman thanks man I have no experience with this and its my daily driver. I'm probably just over thinking this.
I could not see how you made the trap
Awesome video Randy. If I was even half as bad ass as you I could probably keep my wife satisfied just by looking at her!
Sling shot video?
I'll add it to the list.
I swear , kojima based -code name: naked snake, on Randall .
"Animals are stupid"...Hahahaha!!!...
Make sure your saplings doesn’t out weight the animal you’re trying to catch or you’ll lose it 😮
Your camera man is not close enough for me to see the trigger for the snare
😎
It shows of how many people watched this and liked it that alot of americans have lost there way, are to fat and lazy, or just don't care... sad
Animals will chew the string and get away..
now all the squirrels will go extinct cause everyone is gonna try these
.
That ain’t no trigger

Kinda like humans, lol
