About time I found another Aussie doing what we all love. I’ll definitely be following and watching your other videos I have just pulled out all my old rc’s and start rebuilding them
Things are good here in KY, beautiful weather today, got to crawl my Remo Hobby 1093-st for the first time in 3 months cuz of broken parts. I almost forgot how fun crawling can be.
Some people can't stand the slow going if it, which I understand. But it's like solving a puzzle when your crawling, and the satisfaction of completing a difficult line or climb is awesome!
I have to admit, when first heard idea it's didn't grab me at all but after watching some vids and stuff on it, i definitly see the apeal and would like to give it a go sometime
Love the content as always, my man. I always think I’m going to love belted tires, and then I always hate them. I’ve had the worst luck with the bigger kind of belted tires. While they do look nasty, my trucks always, always overheated when I used them.
@@MatthewSimm I got the Proline Brute body for mine and I love how durable it is. But all white is boring. I know Traxxas makes a thicker clear body for the Maxx. Maybe they have one for the XMaxx that you could dip?
@@MatthewSimm it’s certainly way more durable than the stock one. My stock body lasted a month. Brute body has been on it for 3 months and still near perfect. Corners of the rear are a little ground down. But it’s better than ripping the whole rear off. lol
First time watching one of your videos. Very cool little test thank you for the info! Maybe hit up Keven over there for some throttle control lessons lol lol. Thank for the information sir I will put it to good use in the hot desert!
Sayin hey from North Carolina USA, its a shame the esc cant handle 8s with the 1650kv motor, i wonder if it can handle it in my rc, trucks about 5-7 pounds lighter than the stock xmaxx with batteries, still got my curiousity peaked, question is does the motor run hottet on 6s than 8s
I think with stock tyres and a smaller pinion (I was running 54/22 here) I think it'll be fine, but if you're looking to buy the 1659kv, I thing you'll be better off with a max 5 and a 1100kv, you'll get a lot less heat and you can gear up more and run bigger tyres
@@MatthewSimm i already have the combo, but i run on 6s, i think the motor seems to run more efficient in 8s from your video, and yeah those proline tires are almost an extra 3 to 4 pounds added straight to the driveline, stock tires would make a huge difference, i got some videos of my truck on 6s if you want to check them out, youll also see the difference from 6s to 8s
Motor will only overheat more if you use an ESC that can send more power to it. The problem is too much load on the motor. The more load on the motor, the more power it will draw. If the energy isn’t getting converted into motion, it becomes heat. So, you have to do one of three things or a combination of the three. Increase your pinion to spur gear ratio to decrease the load on the motor, reduce peak amount of power that can be fed to the motor or get a motor that’s designed more for torque and higher peak power draws.
It's the esc that was shutting down and getting too hot because the motor is drawing too many amps than the esc can provide, therefore shutting down (thermal protection) The motor wasn't too bad, I could still gear it down a tooth or two to reduce temps a bit.
Great video, the max6 1650kv combo is fast, I think the weight and gearing are playing a part of the heat issues. That system on the website calls for 6s, I do run 8s on lighter cars or go bigger hewing on 6s, Those are also heavy tires. Very fun video!!!! 👊💥
Yeah definitely dude, I think I'll use it for another project, maybe a udr if I get one haha. Those trenchers are very heavy! But I love that I don't have to worry when they Balloon
@@MatthewSimm I think it could work? Maybe play around with tires and gearing? But it’s all about having fun! I run that in a Mojave and a felony. Great system!
i have a plastic chassis remo and thr mount slots into the chassis and a top plates keeps the mount in..but before i got a fan not even 5 minutes out and the chassis mount holes are so hot to touch..i was hitting 183 without the fan on and with fan on hits 80s
Wow, such a coincidence, I was just out in some light on off rain too.. even tried a bit of filming.. was thinking motor feels hotter than I'd like and it's winter now..summer on the gold coast must make cooling compulsory.. Got back and been looking up a heatsink\fan to buy, checked out a few and then saw ya video :P Always great to see ya out having fun and with some extra info too.. I ended up getting a Kraton, as kinda thought if i got an Xmax later, that means iv'e tried both brands and style vehicles, rather than just having two differnt sized monster trucks. definitly apreciated your advice on the matter but as they are both listed in your favourite cars I figured can't go wrong with either and didn't wanna be rolling over sideways and backwards as much on first one in years.. although this thing can wheelie with ease and backflip off the mark.. havn't tried to land on wheel as normally back off when happens and ends up on its back.. making me kidna wish i did have traxas self right :P.. But man it goes sooo well, I'm smiling the whole time :) .. Don't think less of me or tell anyone..:P But I often have remote set to 75% power lol... Just getting hang of it and gives me a bit more throttle to work with without it wanting to flip ect.... ok i'm just soft and a bit of a newb but it's still soo crazy fast and lots of fun.. Already got upgraded front and rear centre braces and after loving so much on first run.. I came back and ordered the M2c chassis so I can jump without fear as found such a good spot near where i live for it.. But have to go in school hours when kids arn't there with bikes.. Ahhh anyways better end this novel. have a great weekend and looking forward to the next one.
Great commentary & content bud new watcher from Hampton,NH.US didn’t seem like the stock fan did much but deff the 21,000 rpm fan had a significant diff in the cooling of the moter great to know should try same test in reverse like start with the 21,000 & so on really interested to see if it’s same results tks for vids
Hello from Raleigh, NC USA! In your previous video you ran this same combo with 20/50T gearing, but this time 25/50T. My observations were that the first combo had more lower end power for wheelies from a standstill, but less top speed than the 25/50T. I also saw that neither motor combo got hot when the faster fans were installed, but the Max6 couldn't handle the extra current draw with the 25/50T combo. Did you ever measure a top speed with the 25/50T? And which setup was more fun to drive?
Can you please get the ARRMA granite I’m an Aussie as well and I’m wondering if it’s a good car and if it runs well in the Australian weather also keep it up love your Chanel

Yeah I'd love to get my hands on those fans, they seem beastly haha, the body is shocking, it's too thing, I think a indestructible body will be the way to go, maybe a white body, with red arms or something!
Does anyone know how many degrees can GC fans decrease on the motor if motor & esc is off with only GC fan on for 5 minutes? I just want a quick answer without watching long bla bla bla videos (No offense). Thanks in advance 😀.
I’m running the Kraton EXB on the max6 1650 50 spur and 23p on 6s Without big fans you can’t keep it cool enough on that If you buy the Hobbywing program card it tells you the max temps you can run the motor at and it’s way higher than you had The problem is the Esc In hindsight I’d of gone ahead and bought the max5 with the 1650 Plus I kept busting fans every time I went out, so now I use 2x 40x40x28 28000 rpm ***on a mini 1300mah 3s lipo with Surbathane I think it’s called and put that under the center of the fan and on the 4 corners top n bottom Touch wood I’ve not broken a fan in months now *** 1for motor 1 on esc Plus the bonus is u can buy 4 fans for £14.50 from AliExpress and make your own, and I think by the look of the sticker you sometimes see on Gamechanger fans there the same fans but there are some crap ones on Ali that easily break
RC car branded fans are just re-labeled fans used in applications like computer servers with 300% price markups. Look up Delta and Sunon fans. You can pick and choose fans that blow more than 30,000 rpm if you want and anything less. Surely if you think 22,000 rpm is good, then 30,000 rpm is better? lol
Maybe a bit overgeared. Kevin Talbot uses 50/17 to 50/19 with the 1600KV Xmaxx 6S motor and max6. The 50/17 is close to your 54/20 but yeah still heavy on the esc. Max5 the way to go for content 😄 I am happy with my stock motor and max6 with 50/21 gearing. Maybe the drivetrain will last longer. At least I hope 😅
