Thank you. I've been having non-stop controller tracking issues (it was always the right one, then it suddenly was always the left one.) I did all the updates other YT'ers suggested while using one of Sony's recommended dongles, but it never occurred to me that I should just reinstall my "old" WiFi/BT PCIe adapter (TP-LINK Archer TXE75E) that I uninstalled once I was able to connect my PC to the internet via ethernet cable (my mobo doesn't have built-in BT). What I eventually realised was that where my PC is there was a lot of (unexpected) sunlight coming in the window and probably overpowering the IR tracking LEDs on the controllers. Closing the blind got rid of this and no more stuck hands.
The ASUS dongle is the best from the suggested Sony adapters. These should be used with a USB 2.0 port with an extension cable. Although the Microsoft Drivers are working, SteamVR should not crash when the Manufacturer Bluetooth drivers are installed.
@@charlesknight2876 Bluetooth dongles work more reliably when connected to a USB 2.0 port. Although it does work with a USB 3.0 port, it is not as stable because of interference so the recommendation is to keep the dongle further away from the computer and nearer to the play area. Most computers do not have a USB 2.0 port at the front, so you could also use the extension cable from the back USB 2.0 ports.
I bought the same one you did, same issues. I bought the asus bt500 and connected them but haven't had much time to test yet. But from seeing other people's comments I think i'll be fine now. Annoying, but at least the adapter that doesn't work was only $15 or whatever.
Am I the only one that always looks for a motherboard with build-in Wifi and Bluetooth and external antenna? 😅 I have a Asus X570-E Gaming motherboard and it worked out of the box.
I have a Asus X570 TUF Gaming Plus WiFi and it worked beautifully AFTER I installed the bundled antenna which I never installed in my 4 years with it as I always used LAN and controllers wired if any. Without the antenna, it was basically useless.
@TarzanGTI Actually, I have a height adjusting desk from Ikea... an Uppspel. I have my big tower pc case underneath it, and the antenna cable wasn't long enough to put it on the desk. Below the desk, I notice interference with my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones from I think the powersupply under the desk. One extension cord from a Chineze company on Amazon later, and I have it above the desk, and the interference was resolved. So, I definitely agree that it is best to place the antenna away from electronics. As for the games I usually play... ETS2, ATS, racing simulators. But I might check out other games after the renovation of the house. So I am currently packing everything and putting it away.
@@GameOnScorpio haha yeah I always keep the boxes stored away in my shed for expensive items. I’ve been using it for iRacing primarily and I do think it’ll be my permanent replacement for my dying cable G2 which has been giving me issues, not to mention the upcoming dropped support.
I picked up a PSVR2 while I wait for my pre-orders of the Pimax Crystal Super and the Somnium VR-1. Only reason I did was because my Index now has a dead pixel and it's annoying. Even though I have 4 2.0 base stations setup in my room... unfortunately, the PSVR2 is not compatible with those. However... it is compatible with the Vive 3.0 trackers. I ended up picking up 4 of those and it has fixed my tracking issues. Granted, not everyone will go this route due to cost.
So weird that a built in Bluetooth signal on a laptop works better than the wifi/Bluetooth antennas on my pc. I had a laptop first and psvr2 adapter worked perfectly aside from low resolution and frame rates but then I upgrade to a mid/high range pc and the antennas has so many issues from like not even 5 feet away lol
Yea it's weird that so many people are having problems when they shouldn't. Sony should have tested this more and come up with a solid solution/product
I've had tracking issues with the asus USB bt500, TP Link. Used asus first. The USB dongle and plugged to 2.0 helped alot but still get the lh controller floating still rotates axis but does not move up down front back. Tp link same result. Tried a few different things to rule out light looks like it may be camera related. But may be bluetooth still.
Got the adapter yesterday and connected controllers directly using Bluetooth on the motherboard but kept losing connection. Couldn’t wait to play so bought an Argos usb dongle for £9.99 and tried it out. Able to connect both controllers but the laser pointer doesn’t show. Read in one of the comments to connect it to MB Bluetooth then once you get past the part on psvr app that detects the controllers, you can connect it via usb c cable directly to pc. This worked for me and no tracking issues however cables are quite short. Not sure what permanent fix would be either buy two 5m cables or spend money on this ax3000 but not sure how to install it on my itx motherboard
Did you manage to solve it? I have the same problem with my UGREEN 5.3 bluetooth, the controls connect but the lasers and controls do not appear on the headset
Just tried the whole weekend with the tp-link ub500, constantly lost tracking , impossible to play games. Sending back today the psvr2 , not willing to buy any more stuff.
My Strange story : I bought PC just for PSVR2 to play Half-Life Alyx, Skyrim and so much more. what happend is that I had a bluetooth adapter like more than 5-6 years it was in my old pc. it was 4.0v and somehow it was working perfectly with the controllers. NO TRACKING ISSUES . the only problem was that I hat to reconect the controllers every time I play. it wasn't a problem , just so anoying. and I got tiret of that and bought another adapter - brand "Trust". I don't reconecting the controllersanymore but I've got so mutch tracking issues. like for 10min I've got more than 2 times stoping the movement on one of the controllers. how is this possible. I mian its like the old one is so much better . just the annoying reconecting every time.
Firstly, the BT standard is literally subject to some of the strictest controls from government certification bodies, where it is impossible to release something so outstanding that buying a separate huge board makes any sense. All chips within one generation of the protocol are literally the same, the differences may be in the implementation of the driver - and only if the manufacturer is an asshole going against the standard. Secondly, this huge board... does not have a different BT module from the one in your micro-dongle. This is literally a cheap board on a cheap chip, like in all laptops of recent years, under a beautiful label with an expensive heatsink, so that the buyer can look at it and think “yes, this looks expensive.” Plus, this board is a wifi+bt hybrid, you pay 90% of the price for its wi-fi module!!! Third, it is not possible to pump more energy into the BT transmitter. Again, because this makes no sense: the transmitters in the controllers cannot supply more watts to their modules than allowed in the standard, and this is already enough to operate at 5-7 meters! The quality of the connection is limited not by the transfer of data from the computer to the controllers, but, on the contrary, by the flow of data from the controller to the computer, and for this the main parameter is not the transmitting power, but the sensitivity of the receiver. The smallest dongle simply cannot accommodate a normal-sized antenna to ensure stable operation in the conditions of the extremely littered 2.4 band, plus they are also stuck in at random, without thinking about what the radiation pattern is. And the same metal computer case easily absorbs a lot of signal, for example, or many ungrounded components around introduce their own interference into the signal, and I’m not even talking about problems with many devices on the same frequency and queues of packets, when a conventional smart home thermometer sends its signals , interrupting the data flow of other devices. Take not a micro-adapter, but the size of a regular flash drive, and a 20-30 cm extension so that you can turn the adapter with the other side towards the playing area - and this will solve all problems in most cases.с
@deadcxap755 please explain why when I used an extension lead to get the small dongle away from everything and literally on my lap, I still had issues... Please also explain, if they are both basically the same, why one works and the other doesn't?
I've a weird issue where the image of the tracking cameras occasionally shift. I can even see it in the pass-trough view, it's super disorienting and annoying when the world randomly shifts for a fraction of a sec.
I have a good motherboard so it has pcie built in wifi6/bluetooth 5.0 I had zero issues getting this to work with my PC with the pc adapter and psvr 2. I think most people get crappy motherboards so they end up having ot buy dongles because they don't have integrated Bluetooth, and dongles are terrible to say the least.
See, I don't have any tracking issues but what I do have is that while inside the headset, whenever I have SteamVR or any game open, everything has the worst green tint to it and I don't know how to fix it. I've looked and tried everything but same issue. It isn't like this when connected to my PS5 and I'm desperate for help. It seems like no one else is having said issue. :(
@awesomegirl123ish oh very odd indeed. Sadly I have no idea how to fix that either. I'm assuming you've tried the usual things like uninstalling the app and reinstalling it etc?
I don't need the motion controllers because I won't be playing games that use them, but I'm frustrated that I can't get past setup because I have no laser pointers so I can't click the "next" buttons. I purchased this Bluetooth adapter using your affiliate link (you're welcome) and still no laser pointer. The controllers are paired and working (I get vibration and can hop around in steam VR home) but can't actually play any games. Any tips before I throw it all out of the window?
Got the same problem here since day one. Tried extenders, 3 d'ongles, the PCI Express card that IS shown in this video and still can't have these fucking lasers pointers working. Can't click next, can't setup...
I bought the asus 500 and i Havent Even used them yet. My computers Bluetooth works great. Snd most my steam games and meta games work great. The only thing i have had a problem with is the pcvr mods from resident evil. Crazy lag and stuttering when i play. Ive spent tons of hour's on these mods with my quest 2 and 3 so dont get why the psvr2 struggles. I need to know which settings to turn down
Odd that the PSVR2 struggles when the Quest 2 and 3 don't... I suspect the PS app on steam might be the issue, as I believe it is technically in "beta", but I could be wrong
@GameOnScorpio ok so I got it to run better. I had to go and tinker with the in-game settings and turn things down. For some reason quite a few of the graphical settings were on high. Which is weird because when I play with my quest 2 and 3 i turned them down to get decent gameplay. Either way I guess I just had to adjust them again because re7 and re2 are working great now.
My current fix for the issue i was having (could only connect one controller, other did not connect and does not register on the psvr2 app) is that i connected one of the controllers by a long usb-c cable (5m, so it does not limit me). Do you think this could be fixed by purchasing one of these as well? Tbh, playing with the cable does not matter all that much, its just incredible that this is an actual licensed product which does not work. Objectively, it just does not function the way it should and workarounds are necessary.
@petrkalensky7268 I mean, it's a possibility of course but I personally can't guarantee. This is how I fixed my problem. If you disconnect both controllers, are you able to connect the one that wasn't connecting? If both are able to connect separately but not together, then yes, it could be that the bluetooth you currently have for your PC can't cope... but that is pure speculation.
@ShayDrory you're very welcome. I can confirm that, for me, it is still working. I just finished playing a session of Half-Life Alyx with no tracking issues. I hope that helps!
is using a usb 3.0 hub with the psvr2 pc adapter and bluetooth adapter bad? im trying to figure out how to make room for all my USBs cuz i dont have that many ports... im having tracking issues with the controllers tho and i think it's most likely bc it's plugged into a usb hub.
@sniperaaronn the PSVR2 PC adapter needs to be plugged into a USB 3 port... the bluetooth adapter can be in a USB 2 port... I tried the bluetooth adapter in a USB hub and directly in my computer and still have tracking issues. For the bluetooth adapter I don't think it matters too much.
I tried to use that little tp-link adapter but god it just sucked, Im getting the same part in your description, not only because I need the wifi and bluetooth, but because if this fixes the problem im having this is gonna replace my old HTC (im not gonna go out and buy replacement parts if the psvr2 can do what it used to)
i must say this is a absolute pisstake from Sony. Having to buy the adapter that is 50-60 quid and then realising that it doesn't work and having to spend MORE money is ridiculous. if they had just sorted this problem by adding it to the adapter in the first place then charging upwards of 50-60 quid personally wouldn't be a problem. Glad to play VR on PC somewhat but what a pisstake.
Do not buy wifi6e cards for installation in your computer, because Windows does not know how to create networks with wide bandwidth in the ax standard and does not know how to work with the 6 GHz frequency at all.
Dam it, that is the same card I installed to fix my issues. Thought it was a little heavy handed and that you would say “a small dongle is ok but update the drivers”. Hopefully Sony fix this for people, because that card is a bit much (I had to buy a replacement for the other computer I pilfered, currently have a cable running though the house until the replacement arrives ).
Well as someone else in the moments mentioned, there could be other interference from devices we have no control over e.g. a neighbours router etc... This is probably why Sony can't guarantee a small dongle will work. Oh, and SNAP! 😂
Ok so I get this stupid black message box that pops up constantly telling me it can’t detect my surroundings. My controller is connected via usb, not Bluetooth. Glad to hear you're enjoying HLA!

Thanks for the tip, with the TP Link UB500 and 3 meter extension in USB2.0 it now works perfectly.
Just tried a VR session with that instead of a dongle and didn't have a single tracking issue pop up.
@mikeyca fantastic! Glad you were able to get it sorted! Good thing you kept your old PCIe adapter haha
What VR games gave you been playing with it?
@@GameOnScorpioI replayed Half-Life: Alyx, which was VERY interesting with the tracking problem (the whole Jeff level was particularly stressful). But I’ve been loathe to try any other games because of the issue. Now that I THINK the issue is gone, I’m hoping to try Arizona Sunshine 2.
@mikeyca if you've not played Arizona Sunshine 2 before, you're going to love it! A great game!

the ASUS BT500 works perfectly for me. Do not get the TP link.
It's the one I use and works perfectly. It's down in price on amazon right now. Also you can pay £14 a month for 3 months. So you probably won't even miss the money going out. It's down from £49 to £41 right now. Hope this helps anyone who is interested. I saw your link in the description so I looked and was pissed it was down in price seeing as I have only has it 2 weeks myself. I can't be bothered to send it back for £8. I'm not saying that £8. @@keithdanmendoza2559 if you have a free PCIe slot then it should, but when it comes to fitting new parts into a computer, you need to know your PC, it's parts as everyone's is different.
I used an Intel AC2960 BT/WiFi card I had in my PC already, I did buy the extension WiFi antenna attachment for it but had a few issues with the 6 dof tracking, 3 dof worked so I knew the BT connection was OK but my hand was getting locked in space. What I eventually realised was that where my PC is there was a lot of (unexpected) sunlight coming in the window and probably overpowering the IR tracking LEDs on the controllers. Closing the blind got rid of this and no more stuck hands.
Yes! That's something a lot of people forget about but I'm glad you were able to figure it out and get it working!
The ASUS dongle is the best from the suggested Sony adapters. These should be used with a USB 2.0 port with an extension cable. Although the Microsoft Drivers are working, SteamVR should not crash when the Manufacturer Bluetooth drivers are installed.
Why are people recommending the extension cable? Where do you place your adapter while playing?
@@charlesknight2876 Bluetooth dongles work more reliably when connected to a USB 2.0 port. Although it does work with a USB 3.0 port, it is not as stable because of interference so the recommendation is to keep the dongle further away from the computer and nearer to the play area. Most computers do not have a USB 2.0 port at the front, so you could also use the extension cable from the back USB 2.0 ports.
@@tauheedulali2652 alright I see move them closer and reduce interference thank you!
I bought the same one you did, same issues. I bought the asus bt500 and connected them but haven't had much time to test yet. But from seeing other people's comments I think i'll be fine now. Annoying, but at least the adapter that doesn't work was only $15 or whatever.
@jhager1 yea, it seems a lot of people have no issues with the ASUS one!

Am I the only one that always looks for a motherboard with build-in Wifi and Bluetooth and external antenna? 😅
I have a Asus X570-E Gaming motherboard and it worked out of the box.
@LogiForce86 I think any motherboard in future that I upgrade to, I will also be looking for these to be built in! Haha
I have a Asus X570 TUF Gaming Plus WiFi and it worked beautifully AFTER I installed the bundled antenna which I never installed in my 4 years with it as I always used LAN and controllers wired if any.
Without the antenna, it was basically useless.
@TarzanGTI glad you were able to use your built in Bluetooth! Good thing you knew where that antenna was!
What PCVR games have you been playing?
Very interesting!
Seeing as you already play a lot of PCVR, what's your go to game?
So weird that a built in Bluetooth signal on a laptop works better than the wifi/Bluetooth antennas on my pc. I had a laptop first and psvr2 adapter worked perfectly aside from low resolution and frame rates but then I upgrade to a mid/high range pc and the antennas has so many issues from like not even 5 feet away lol
Yea it's weird that so many people are having problems when they shouldn't. Sony should have tested this more and come up with a solid solution/product

Yea that is very odd. Does your new one come with antennas? If so, are they connected?
@PenguinYayOne that is weird! I've not experienced that myself. Have you done PCVR before with other headsets or is this the first time?

I have a good motherboard so it has pcie built in wifi6/bluetooth 5.0 I had zero issues getting this to work with my PC with the pc adapter and psvr 2. I think most people get crappy motherboards so they end up having ot buy dongles because they don't have integrated Bluetooth, and dongles are terrible to say the least.

Everything works but graphics settings are driving me insane 🙃 how is this a thing? Nothing is easy on pc .

@@basketcas3717 Glad to hear you got them running better!

@GameOnScorpio awesome, I look forward to it! I think dedicated router is the key to the best Wireless Q3 experience
Do not buy wifi6e cards for installation in your computer, because Windows does not know how to create networks with wide bandwidth in the ax standard and does not know how to work with the 6 GHz frequency at all.
@GoneHollowMedia it is indeed and I do have a dedicated router setup for it, I just like to play around and test things

@omgitsbees I was lucky enough to be able to grab one off Amazon. Hopefully you'll be able to pick one up soon!
