Don't Ever Grow Up,
Ben. Ashley. Willa
One of my favorite Ben quotes/voiceovers in his best Rom Burgundy voice “Offshore sailing is hours and hours of sheer boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror!” 😝
I thought the same.
He could sale anything with his voice.

Hey, I think youre talking about me!
That is true
This is nice, I mean you handle yourselves well by not being agressive and trying to speak with people. Well done! Stay safe!
Those were just local spear fishermen. Of course you talk it out and be friendly.
@@rage8kage the only thing is their concept of personal space and property is different so it seems scary
No need to be aggressive, but ignoring those nervous feelings one has in a situation of many unknowns approaching your home in the middle of the night in a very remote and isolated place is what gets many people killed. "Nice" is very often a tactic that gets people to lower their guard. I'm all for being nice and relating to the locals, as long as at the same time I demonstrate very loudly that I can and will defend my home, my family and myself if provoked or attacked. I know it sucks to live in a world where this is necessary, but it is.

Indonesian here! couldn't be more proud of my peeps here for being nice and just chill meeting a total stranger with language barrier at night on the seas trying to communicate. If you're nice to them they're nice to you but still stay cautious every time don't let your guard down with stranger regardless of any circumstances 🙌
Kren ya, momen bangga 😁
Hi I’m a filipino, also a fellow boat owner. The fishermens here are usually so far out from shore because either there are no fishes near the shore because of improper fishing (uneducated). Decades of dynamite fishes is what lead to this ordeal. The second reason is there are now fish sanctuaries near the shores or mostly on reefs hence why they have to go so far out in the sea. The big fishing vessels you saw that had several bangka’s on it are for offshore fishing. Same boats that chinese navy are harassing. What I can advice for a safer trip next time (thou mindanao is also safer now) is to pass on the northern side of the Philippines or even in the Visayas region is fine. I know there’s a yacht club in cebu. Subic is great lots of other boat owners there. Batangas -manila passage would be the best.
Thank you, i appreciate.
Thats odd..I live here and there are terrorist events weekly still.
95% of the issues are south of luzon..north in subic etc is fine..stay out of the south if you are a foreigner...not welcome unless you are carrying a camera and have a crew showcasing the philippines.
Say anything negative and they will make you persona non grata
I was in Boracay for a month and was surprised that there was hardly any fish close to shore.
Mindanao is my hometown
@@smoothcriminal7232 Mindanao is not a town lmao
I am a filipino and that story made my heart smile. keep safe always. Big hugs to our indonesians brothers too
Salamat , from indonesia
THE OLD INTRO IS BACK!!!! I can’t describe the feeling hearing it again.
Yeh, it was a return to yalls tale of awakening with all the excitement written upon your faces and sparked within your vocal expressions. BRING IT ON. Have really looked forward to our reunion again. Thank you both for being true to yourselves and making dos babies. I’m feelin the cruising love jive again. Easy does it friends
Yeah!!! Tunage and civilization, see you later. Says it all ⛵
Yeah, for me those earlier videos set off when Ashley proclaims "I have no idea what's going to happen".
Pretty amazing how the most important parts of the journey is the human interaction…
After all, that's what makes us feel human
Life
The last story is just a perfect example for how to interact with each other!
I can imagine lot of people would get angry when they got on your boat which might have escalated things... but you keeped such a chill vibe that it turned out so awesome! Love to see it!
Kindness will get you through in almost any part of the world.
Glad to see the crew of Nahoa, +1 --back with smiles.
One of the most important travel lessons is that there is great evil out there. Kindness doesn't work against someone trying to kill you, defense does.
95% of people are chill, always gotta keep your eye out for the 5%.
that's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. You've obviously never lived in a poor neighborhood with high crime.
Hey guys!! Im Indonesian, those indonesian are just meeting you, it's like Welcoming you in their place.
you know if you never meet Indonesian, maybe you will afraid, but it is the culture thing, they are just love to meet and talk to you...if you guys can speak bahasa, im sure those guys will ask you to go to their house, give you food or anything you need just for make you happy and to remember them.
I worked with an Indonesian young man in a USA university library. He was very hardworking and responsible. I think his family made or sold shoes.
Yaya was one of my favorite co-workers from among all my many different jobs.
He represented Indonesia very well.
Crazy but amazing memories. Your kids may not be educated in a building but they will gain their education from the world. I was born in the Bahamas and also lived in Barbados but am now raising a family in the land locked province of Alberta Canada. So I live vicariously though your videos. Thank you.
so agree :)
THIS IS THE ORIGINAL COMMENT
@@aver3469 maybe i will let youtube know about you ! :( today !
In my country that would be impossible because of Compulsory education so your children have to go to school.
@@kingghidorah5213 That’s weird , you can’t even be home schooled ? But guarantee the wealthy people in your country can go to any school
You guys are rockstars. I can't imagine doing this myself but I'm really fascinated and have tons of respect for what you did. Safe travels 🏝
ur username 💀💀💀
Man I have a baby daughter and can't imagine sailing around the world with her I was nervous just going out on our speed boat even though it has a cabin down below for her it's just a little out of the norm and you're really far from help so it's good you both are so confident and sure of yourselves
I had a similar thought process. Hope the kids end up alright
Right I was nervous just holding my daughter. She's 20 now a whole other host of worries.
This is why I love your chanel, you go out of your way for people and give everyone the benefit of doubt....... You guys are awesome and I can't wait to continue on this journey with you!! 🤙🏻🤗
It's amazing how that tense moment can turn into such a cool experience. Just found your channel and looking forward to seeing you get back out there
Awesome! Wonderful experiences, can't wait to see what the future holds for you guys.
agree
They'll probably be murdered at sea
@ 29:26 is the best tiny smile ever. I love revisiting your past moments. Y'all are the best. I am so stoked for your next journey. Hugs from Galveston,Tx 😎
Really great episode.
Not going to lie, felt nervous for you when all the fishermen came up to your boat at night
I thought you were going to lie, until you told us all that you weren't. Thanks for the disclaimer. Now I trust your comment.
@@Haliboldt AHAHAHAHA nice one
Thanks from a fellow Canadian. Love you guys and seeing you progress. Can't wait to see you back on Nahoa.Wishing your family all the best. Take care
This is so remarkable. What a life. Your children and grandkids will probably be in awe listening to your stories!
It’s so great that even though you said you were out of footage you were able to go back in time and refresh us of things that of happened in the past. Today’s vlog was very interesting thank you
Bro the part with the people on the slipper boat who came back to give you that fish was so awesome. Seeing the smiles they had just to be able to trade with you guys was so enlightening.
Susan & Tony here, or should I say still here and looking forward to seeing how you kids handle this. We have watched for years and always liked you as cruisers and teachers of boat works. Good luck and we look forward to seeing you out there on the water!
How beatifull to trascend cultural fears and do such a connection with other people. Great experience.
Hi guys, even though we’ve seen all of your videos including these clips, it was great re-visiting them.
Nice to see a summary review and walkthrough encapsulating your travels, memories, experiences and big learns.
You both look really happy, just as we remember you when you were out sailing the world.
Hope the bambino’s and your extended families are keeping well.
Ben - do a similar one on fishing please. We bought a new Seawind 1260 which was completed in March this year. It’s still in storage in Vietnam as we can’t get in to collect it. I bought a load of fishing gear based on your experience and suggestions for rods, reels and tackle. This is our first boat. We decided to take the plunge, retire early, sell everything and do what you both do. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer :(
Wish you the best of luck!
Not a traveler, but someone with alot of experience navigating difficult situations and hardships and my tip is
Don't expect anything to work out, things fail, things go wrong, and that's okay.
You live some you learn some just keep going.
If you're overwhelmed, just take a break.
There is no rush.
Be patient with yourself and the world.
Hope you're having the bestest of experiences and enjoy every second of it!
That was wholesome with the 11 guys on the boats giving you the Speargun at the end
This was really neat, guys! It's an interesting way to do a refresher and take on topics of interest or concern, all at the same time.
I worked on big boats in the oil field on the Gulf of Mexico. It does get rough during the winter out there. Oil production slows way down because companies and employees just don’t want to deal with it. I always told my family that days when it’s a little windy at the house like 10 knot sustained winds, in the gulf it’s blowing 30-40kts.
You guys are sooo brave! I wish I had a 1/4 of the balls you guys have! You're living your life your terms and I love it
After travelling as a family for a year (27 flights) we are thinking about sailing with our three kids. Your channel has been a no-bs glimpse into what we can expect. Thanks for recording and sharing such amazing content guys.
Thanks! Really enjoyed this "rerun" episode. Took me back to all the videos when I saw them the first time. In the end your experiences were totally positve for different cultures to get along and give everybody a place to exist on this planet.
I love y’all and your channel and now 2 babies. Can’t wait til January to watch the 2nd half of your circumnavigation.
I love the channel guys and can’t wait to see you get back to the boat 👍
Been waiting all day for Nahoa! Now streaming in the family room on the 86” 4k tv! You guys look well!

Yeah, we didn't want to mention it. (also a 4k tv owner) ;-)
I'm joking! :-)
Excellent video! Looking forward to your next adventures! You guys are definitely going to have your hands full !!!! ✌️❤️
Thank you , I’m probably like many others who watch never likely to experience the world in the way you are but your videos give just a little insight , just a small glimpse of the joy the boredom the freedom the beauty of the world natural or otherwise . Thank you again and enjoy , we envy you living your life the way you want to and sharing with and educating your children about the world should you continue to cruise as they grow .
Your adventures are fascinating; I'm learning a lot about your maritime travels and what it takes for a trip of this magnitude. Been to Grenada back in 84; Panama it got crowded big time; had relatives spend time over in the Philippines; and been far west as Hawaii, but you guys experiences are fascinating .
I loveeee the last story where the guys became your friends. So beautiful
Wow! Great beautiful sites. Excellent real life documentary. We enjoyed it a lot. We wish, if you could make the video coverage on the places in each country much longer, specially the wonderful places like when both of you where hiking the mountain top spine and when you reach the first island of papua just filled with green trees with bright white sands on the sides, and then sharing your honest experienced you had on different people and culture you have met, just like what you did but much longer. In short it would be really nice to watch a more detailed coverage of day by day events including that google map mapping your location. we really felt like a modern archeologist traveling with you. We love watching you! Waitting for more marvelous blogs. Thank's for sharing! God bless lovely Ashly (a very beautiful mom) , superb Ben and their two beautiful babies! Stay safe. Again, Thank you very much for taking us in your adventures.
I am so excited to watch your second leg of your journey enjoy it with the children. Enjoy all of it I can’t wait to watch
I thought it was going to be a hostile encounter but it turned out to be a really wholesome one, love for indonesian people❤
What a great video. We see these scenarios happen intermittently but condenscing them is a trip. I love your message. "Don't let it stop you!"
Love how the story telling goes. Subscribed. I will remember this line: "you should not invalidate your fear, you should respect it. At the same time it should not stop you from doing what you love to do." Thanks! 🙂

thank you for crossing my country by covering the waters and the people as fishermen our spirit from Indonesia
I love you guys, I'm so glad I did the Patreon thing.
@ 25:50
You were robbed by pirates wielding patience, smiles & friendliness! ;-)
Wow, I'm Australian, spent a lot of time in Indonesia and know that feeling. They are the most friendly and generous ppl, although you do get your bad eggs. Learn a bit of Bahasa and youl be amazed how they will do anything for u. Love ur vids. Good luck👊🇦🇺♥️
You guys are so privileged to be sailing around the world . That's something that I would have loved to do. thank you for bringing chaps like me and many around the world the opportunity to travel with you even though we are in Terra firma.... Safe travels God bless you.. best wishes from a dude from Guatemala....👋🏽
This shows most people are here to do good and have a kind heart but a set few individuals ruin it and insight this fear
Bit like MSM and Politicians.
You are so right. 99% of people smile on meeting strangers. It is the BS* that people bring to the meeting that makes trouble.
* The BS could be religion, country or borders, race, etc, etc. Normal ordinary people are almost always cool with strangers who are cool to them.
You both are beautiful souls, and your son is ADORABLE!! I love what you guys are doing with your lives, and I sincerely wish you safety, happiness, love, peace, and many more amazing adventures. Your content is incredible, and you guys make me feel as if I'm right there experiencing everything with you. Thanks for sharing your life with us!

Just love the recounting of your travels. You guys are so interesting to follow. God Speed and safe travels in the future!
I love videos like this! Can’t express how much I love seeing humans smile! Keep sharing your experiences!💙
Love your little family. Been watching you for several years now. I always pray for you when you're on passages etc. Ps. I'm old enough to be your mom.
I subscribed, you guys are great people, and you clearly have enormous amounts of faith, and courage.
We just love your channel and can't wait for every episode.....you really have to do the east and west coast of Australia.....awesome fishing and beautiful reefs. You guys are just simply awesome.......love, love, love. God Bless you and your family, from Townsville, north queensland, Australia.
Your family is absolutely amazing and I am happy watching your adventures. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for sharing another great video and your stories of your various adventures and blessings. All respect for talking about your fears. Stay safe ⛵️⛵️💕💕🥰
Love from Vanuatu 🇻🇺 , thank you for passing by . God bless and safe wishes to your family.
I've been watching your channel for a long time. This was a great video! Can't wait to see you back on the boat!
You handle people really well! So brave, calm, and confident.
Love your production. Filming is so hard and tedious when traveling I applaud people who do it for us.
All that is happening in the USA and around the world via RUclips and other sources, this has been a breath of fresh air. Thank You!!
Amazing video. It’s so cool that you get to explore a bunch of places and cultures. Safe travels
Fear is good, it keeps you sharp and prevents you from becoming overconfident. The best alarm system on board is a great watchdog.
I've enjoyed all the cultures you've shared with us❤️ Thank you!
"Once you overcome those fears, overcome each of those steps along the way, you gain confidence in the ability of yourself and with that you can aim for bigger horizons and do it with confidence" Ben.
U guys are so inspiring. Definitely going to raise great children
This was actually one of the better blogs that has been put out by the sailing bloggers, very interesting and informative which is why I watch, safe sailing guys.
Wow this episode was so good!! Thank you for sharing your stories!! ❤️
Great episode lads. Enjoyed that. Hope all is better for you Ben. Take care all xxxx
A good message even if you don't live on a boat! Love you guys, ~Idaho~
You guys make better videos sitting on the couch than La Vagabonde does in the water. My #1 Sailing Channel!
Are you allowed to carry personal firearms while sailing all over? International waters, different countries etc.?
Anything is allowed until you get caught
Yes until you get into a country's water that doesn't allow it. I think where you come from is what laws you follow so if you come from the us you follow us laws in international water until you get to a country's area.
You best believe I’d be strapped brother!
You guys are crazy, yet adventurous and awesome, I hope you guys have a wonderful safe trip for the next half of the world.
“Don’t let fears stop you from where you want to go”. Quite frankly, that’s an idiotic statement.
Facts, being scared saved my life bare times, rather be P*ss* than dead tbh
I think you guys got it twisted. If you're not prepared to be a survivor, then you don't need to be adventuring.
In the woods, you'll run into bears and big cats. You bring a big enough gun and survival tools. Same idea for being out and alone somewhere at sea. If you meet pirates, be prepared to kill or be killed. If you can't kill, stay home under your rock.
@@thedevilsadvocate3710 I understand what you’re saying, and these people in the video do seem like they generally understand the risks of the situation and have prepared for them. But as a blanket statement, it’s laughable at best. Fears exist for a good reason and they 100% stop you from doing things that you’re not prepared to handle.
@@derblah9006 I understand. I think it's great they're living their dreams. It pains me to hear stories of people who do similar things and then the expected horrific things happen, it is a tragedy. Like young attractive Western single women biking across Pakistan/India solo. Or Americans solo hiking in Afghanistan/Iran. How do play with fire and not expect the burn?
My Aunt would have loved your channel... My Aunt and Uncle sailed all over the Philippines, Hawaii and Caribbean for decades and had sooooo many “scary stories” from bad storms, intense fog crossing a massive shipping lane, shoot out with “pirates” trying to take their boat... She passed from cancer a few years back, but her stories live in! My biggest regret in life is not joining her on a 6mo trip my Junior year of high school. “Marching band”, “friends”, were my excuse... 😞
Thanks for the stories!
I think I've been kind of spoiled living in the United States because it's very easy to forget all the different types of people and experiences outside this country.
Your country is so big that you guys forget that there is life outside of America tbh.
You are lucky to be born there.
Enjoy the little kids. Mine are 14 and 10 now. Goes fast. Really enjoy the channel! ✌️
Wow must’ve been pretty frightening!!
I’d already seen the night time 11 fishermen visit twice before. The beginning still scared me tonight.
Love you guys. Really enjoyed watching your videos. Please take care and stay safe. Love from FIJI 🇫🇯.
a very interesting vlog, shows beautifully that people are not dangerous towards each other, when you are acting with love and compassion
You both are an inspiration …. Please don’t ever stop being you !!!!
Preconceptions are a thing we all battle with. Such a wonderful way you have both approached this unrealised reality for travelers. Top notch video as always.
I'm totally Amazed by your navigation skills. You guys are very good people and thank you for sharing your experiences. You have a beautiful family too. Just simply amazing. I'm from Kansas City, Missouri and about as far away from sailing as you can get right now. I have an opportunity to buy a small sailboat and might have to try taking to the seas. Cheers to all, Kurt
Thank you guys, you give us hope and vision. Take care, see you soon.
fishermen are really friendly. language is not a barrier to make friends... subbed
Amazing how that guys drove you ! Really amazing. Good people everywhere 🙏🏻
You and your family are really blessed to encounter this world. An inspiration to me and my wife for sure. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Like you I have “ been there done that” and what you say is spot on. Thanks.!
You two have such a wonderful approach to life. Truly inspiring.
Nice to know that you are coming back in the Philippines, explore more to diff. Islands you will surely love it… hugs to the kids… ❤️ and keep safe…
Them body at the end showed that peace and understanding is that all we need to keep peace
I'm a little freaked out about sailing solo in the Sulu sea.
Stoked you guys shared.
I'm more reassured now.
@Edward Legaspi 100% brother.
Preparation, planning and Avoidance are all great rules for safety.
This was a great episode given your current location. You've travelled and documented parts of the world that not many on RUclips have done, and being afraid and doing anyway while being careful with your risks has paid off. Thanks.
Wow! This is super educational to see how you handle scary, stressful situations. Man you guys are calm. Is that a Canadian thing? Hopefully your calmness will rub off on me while watching all your wonderful videos. You are an amazing team!💞
Those people you've met probably come from North Maluku, our brothers. Greetings from Indonesia! They were really nice and mean no harm to you. They were excited to see you guys. Sorry for bothering your property tho. Some people don't know what boundaries are.
Really Awesome content ! British Virgin Islands 🇻🇬 here rooting for you guys! 👏🏾
I saw you on the panel in Annapolis which was very interesting to watch and hear about your experiences. Love your story to date and you now have a new follower from Canada. 🇨🇦 🤟🏽 BTW. That was a great catch up video.
Haha he just casually wipes his hand at 33:42 after the handshake 😂😂😂
most indonesian are muslim, and that is muslim's culture to place your hand on your chest after handshaking
Thank you for sharing these flashbacks.
This video did a GREAT job of making me want to binge watch your older episodes.
