Just found your channel & learning a lot. Great content, Dr. Ana! You are not a typical doctor - thank you for doing this! You are an AMAZING doctor!!
Thank you so much!! Just doin my thing, hoping it’ll help a lot of people! :)
Chocolate Olive Oil Cake is really good! I have sometimes used EEOV on toast but it’s really yummy to dip a rustic bread in. Where I get stuck is TV snacking. I usually eat popcorn-but eat too much. So Inhave been trying eating half and throwing in some sesame, Cocoa and Honey covered Almonds from Trader Joe’s. It creates a more balanced snack so I’m not craving more.
I don’t like soda but if I do crave a soda (like in the Summer on 4th of July), I buy a new probiotic soda only sweetened with Casava. Otherwise I drink Waterloo or do as you suggest Dr. Anna.
Thanks for all these helpful swap outs! 😃🩷
Awesome!! I also enjoy those probiotic “sodas”. Thanks for sharing :)
This video has been really helpful. Thanks!
I'm so glad! You’re welcome
Great video. Thank you
You are welcome! So glad you enjoyed it
Great video!!
Thanks so much!
Great 😊
Thank you!
Very informative video. Thank you. I started following this way of eating and trying to learn as much as possible. I struggle with eating enough protein. What are your thoughts about protein powders?
I’m glad you like the video. Great question about protein powders - I love them! They can be very healthy and convenient. Just watch for how much added sugars or other agents are added in some brands
I already do everything but the fish swap. Can you recommend anything else? I'm allergic. I'm lucky I grew up with a Sicilian mother and I ate like this as a child. It wasn't until I was able to afford things like red meat, which I am almost eliminating. Keep the videos coming.
Glad you like the swaps! Good question. Thing is, it’s always important to eat what you like and can. If fish/seafood is out for you, including other protein sources like eggs, meat, poultry, dairy and plant-based sources (tofu, beans and lentils) are going to be the move.
Red meat does not have to be eliminated entirely. It’s the processed meat (hot dogs, bacon, etc) that seems to give the negative consequences to our health. A bit of natural cuts of red meat should still be healthy (but of course, it’s perfectly fine to skip it altogether too!)
I bake with olive oil all the time! You just need to reduce the amount a bit compared to butter.
That’s awesome to know! Thank you so much for sharing that great tip
😊😊
Glad you liked it!
Lots of good info - What about avocado oil?
Excellent question, many folks have asked and I think I’ll have to make a video about this.
It’s a great oil for cooking since it has a very high smoke point, but it’s quite neutral in its flavor.
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was told that’s it’s trans fats that are bad not saturated fat. Which is it?
What do you think of vegan butter?
great question - of the vegetable oils, canola oil is the most nutritious. If a spreadable non-dairy butter is mainly canola, I don't see any harm in it! I know some brands also sell olive oil spreadable butter blends. But in general, having regular olive oil is the most traditional for the Med Diet cuisine. And a little real butter is also ok sometimes.
Do you have a cookbook?
I do not currently, possibly will make one in the future… stay tuned :)
Is canned tuna or salmon bad to eat because it’s processed??
wow, I LOVE this question!!! Something that is canned does not necessarily mean it is processed in a negative way. It is simply more convenient to buy that way because it maintains its freshness and is cooked already. Think of canned peas or corn. They are the same - cooked via steaming or pressure but not altered in any other way.
@@annapleetmd thank you so very much for taking the time to answer me back!! I think you’re awesome!! I love watching your videos please keep them coming!!❤️
