😁😁😁 Don't ever let the title or Mr. Archbold fool you: Mainly he is an excellent merchant and doesn't buy if he isn't sure to make good profit! That's his truest talent. 👍👌👏
Lol as youre talking about that Wayne card and literally describing my situation of buying a big lot of 90s baseball sealed and loose cards and finding a Mickey Mantle card, it was real rough but a very cool find as a newly starting collectable trader, much love and thank you for all the tips so far!
I love your channel!! My son collects mostly baseball cards and he has made some good money!! He loves doing it! I hope you make back your money you spent!!
In the 90s the 7/11 around the corner from our home, allowed our youngest son to buy baseball cards on credit he was about 5 yrs old. My husband was a cop at the time and went in for coffee in the middle of the night and the owner asked my husband if he would pay our son’s tab. 🤣😂
OMG! I grew up on A & W but for some reasons over the years there have been fewer & fewer of them around which breaks my heart. Window trays, momma burger, pappa burger & baby burger root beer floats all so yummy
Nice job Alexander! Your wide ranging knowledge/experience score again. I do hope the usual auction methods don't cut too deeply into your potential profits. I enjoy seeing the garage filled so well.😎
That was really interesting! I was never much of a card collector, but I certainly had some in my youth. Fun to see the few treasures in amongst all of that. I'm very curious about the signed baseball. That has really potential as well.
Looks like a good score. The framed pin set could get you over $100. In the past I have sold 2 of those and got $75 each at a collector show. It has the Minnesota North Stars and Hartford Whalers. That is a great piece as those pins are harder to find
Can't say that those cards carry much interest for me but I do like the information you give out regarding them. Who knows one day I might run into a stack of them and have the knowledge to figure out who is who. lol Have a great day
How fun! It reminds me of when I bought someone's football, baseball and basketball collection to help them out. It was 1990's. Hours and hours of sorting and pricing.
I never bought a pack of cards in my life but I did love playing card games from a young age as that was a way to get the adults around me to play with me. Also loved chess for the same reason.
I remember how bad it got in the 90d. I collected Topps baseball cards for years, and suddenly there were a ton of other companies in the market. At least it never seemed as bad as when speculation caused the comic book market to crash in the 90s. And funny how those two seemed to coincide. Hologram cards were big in comics with all of the gimmick covers. It's awesome that you picked up those Gretzky cards. He truly was the greatest.
as a sports card guy you’re going to want to get those cards out of the screw downs and into just the top loaders with a penny sleeve inside - the screw downs are notorious for compressing cards to the point that they come back as upgrade-able
I remember opening a box of 1991 Score cards and finding one of the signed Bobby Orr cards. It was one of my favorite cards that I have found in a pack. Hope you find one too.
Proset 91-92 has some C-series cards with errors, the Pat Falloon one worth the most. BUT in that early 90s era, the sought after rookies were in Upper Deck. Still, as you said, mass produced so you're not looking at much. That was the era of Paul Kariya, arguably one of the best of the time. I have TWO of his rookie cards. The best rookie cards will always be 1980s O-Pee-Chee (Gretzky, Lemieux, Roy etc).
My Hubby was given several boxes of cards with litterally thousands of cards & he's never gone through them because he's not a sports fan & has no idea what he's looking for. I'm going to show him this video. Great tips about the edges of cards.
I loved collecting cards as a kid back in the 90s - basketball cards, Australian Rules Football Cards, X Men, Simpsons, Oddbodz cards etc miss the 90s!
Hi Alex, if you are interested in getting any older cards. I’m a member of a RUclips channel called Storage Legends. The channel owner bought a Hoarder House loaded with tons of Cards starting from I believe the 40’s. He sells complete sets some people have purchased a Soccer card sets that had up to 10 Wayne Gretzky rookie cards. The reason I’m telling you about it. Is because you mentioned a Mickey Mantle and Gordie Howe. Most if not all sets are in like new condition. There are many collectors and resellers who have done very well. He also has Comic Books in mint condition. I know he has had whole boxes from like $0.10 and up. I just wanted to mention it just in case you are interested. I pray You, Melissa and the kids are all doing well. 🙏❤️ Sorry I was forgetting to tell you that he does ship all around the world.
A&W' drive ups were locally prevalent in my area back in the day. Talking 1960's before Sandy's, Mr. Quick's sprung up! Sometimes my Dad would drive to the A&W drive up after Sunday church service. I loved it! We were a grade A Holstein dairy farm family through the 50's and 60's, so eating out was a real treat! 😁
At least you pretty much got your money back with that Gretzky card. Even if you only get a dime a piece that's another couple hundred bucks for the rest of them.
You were right about the 90’s Blue Jays winning the World Series. They wind back to back. The second one was won by a home run hit by our friend Joe Carter. I was never more proud of him as I was that day. He is a great man.
I don't know much about hockey, I only collect baseball and football, but very nice score! Congrats finding the Gretzky rookie card, that was really unexpected! By the way, the Gretzky at 21:42 is an early 1981-82 o-pee-chee base card, in that shape, that's a pretty notable card (compared to the other cards in the collection.)
My brothers used to collect baseball cards back in 1970's and probably early 1980's. Johnny Bench was my favorite player. When my brothers had to go to bed because of school the next day, my mom would watch the games and would tell them the score the next morning. She got so that she liked to watch baseball. Sometimes she would kid my brothers and when a homerun was hit she would yell, "TOUCH DOWN"! LOL She loved to watch football when it was snowing and the players would be sliding all over the place. lol
The card market is over-saturated, it's very difficult to turn even a small profit. I buy and sell collectibles, paintings mainly and old books, some signed. I find that buyers only care about sports stars autographed books or cards. Up here in Canada hockey is king, all others are passe. When I was living in the mid-wets baseball was king.
So true. If it's not a top rookie or player autograph it's a tough sell. Very little money in it. Without the gretzky rookie and 2nd year card this lot would have been tough to get money back out of.
Even though that Gretzky rookie is in really bad shape it's still probably worth what you paid for everything. You will find people paying quite a lot to have his rookie no matter the condition. The second year Gretzky is a very desirable card also.
My husband is a HUGE Blue Jays fan, and the first year they won the World Series was just a month after we were married, I would LOVE to have that ball!
In late 90s at Sports Card shows in Edmonton they had barrels where you can toss your ProSet cards into. They absolutely ruined the collectors market. People would by cases at Costco
In the early 80s, my nephew was about 4 and obsessed with the Oilers. Every time he shot the puck into his little toy net, he would throw his arms up and shout, "I got a Gretzky!" In his defense, the vast majority of goals he had witnessed up to that point were scored by Gretzky.
When my group of friends and I were young and dumb, we used to sneak into Bobby Hull's yard at night and go swimming in his pool. Of course we'd always get caught. I'm sure he must have recognized some of us after a while.
A& W use to be very common here in the states, but something happened in the seventies and they dwindled out of popularity. here in Vermont, wher I live there is only one left in Barre, which I went there for a drive a few years ago.
I had a lot of 90's USA basketball. Not worth much of anything. I did have a couple MJ's. Spent a lot of money on them. Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
I been collecting various things over my life, as Transformers, Halloween decorations, video games. I can tell you that Transformers has lost lots of value over the years over the saturation of Hasbro. I always laugh when I see people thinking their transformers collection is worth a lot of money. Apart from original transformers from the 80s and some rare or limited ones over the years, their value is pretty low. As for Halloween decorations, old ones are worth some money, as also older Animatronics in good shape. As video games, rare games of course, but some of of the most worth are Horror video games. Due to be rare subject for video games as seen as a niche theme, especially in older systems, old horror video games are high in demand. With more and more gaming companies pushing for only digital downloads instead of hard copies, as cartridges and discs, video games collectors are really trying to buy older games, especially horror games.
Nothing I find more boring than sports cards. But I must say your presentation and narration made the video worth watching! Hope you find a million dollar card!
When I was little my mom worked in Sattlers dept store Buffalo NY in the basement snack barbar I would go there and get a cold one right from the barrel that was in 1950 and here it is 2024and I'm going on 82 still the best root beer around😅😅😅😅
* Hey Alex, good ya found some cards with value. The wife and I thought you've shown your property in the winter. You should take a walk and throw it on a vid.
Back then the police department made cards for all of the cops. They would give them to the kids when they had things going on in town. My son made me stop if we saw a cop pulled over so he could get their card
Very very unlikely, everything he's had from recent bulk lots has been sorted and gone to Kastner auctions, if items don't sell I think they just get put in the next appropriate auction but most stuff sells as it starts with a very low/no reserve
Hi Alex, The card thing goes straight over my head, but what is the story on that Mercedes roadster? Did I miss something? All the best, Mart in England
My Brother in law had a Mickey Mantle card one time that he had out in a yard sale!!! I told him it was going to get stolen and he wasnt worried but sure enough it was stolen!! There is something on it that could identify it but thats a secret. Hes dead now but his widow sure could use that money!!
I wanted to jump up and down when you found that Wayne Kresky rookie card...but I'm 74 don't want to break a hip....😃
😂😂😂
I'm 55, and just had surgery. I could literally bust a gut 🤣🤣
😁😁😁 Don't ever let the title or Mr. Archbold fool you: Mainly he is an excellent merchant and doesn't buy if he isn't sure to make good profit! That's his truest talent. 👍👌👏
I have an original A&W root beer mug. There used to be one on Western Avenue in Augusta Maine. Loved the burgers a mug of root beer soda.
I live in Ga. and love A&W root beer. But sadly no restaurants. Root beer floats are a treat for the hot summers.

How much was the bill?!
Not sure around $20
@@conniemoney4459 oh god! At least it's wasn't a couple of hundred or something 😂😂
I’d have said: where is the co-signer on that credit app?
Teach you to offer credit to a 5-year-old.

OMG! I grew up on A & W but for some reasons over the years there have been fewer & fewer of them around which breaks my heart. Window trays, momma burger, pappa burger & baby burger root beer floats all so yummy
If I ever need to lift my spirits, a momma burger with extra pickles almost always does the trick.
Nice job Alexander! Your wide ranging knowledge/experience score again.

I loved the wooden box more than what was in it!
Same 😆

Interesting. 💓💘💝💖❤watching your videos, thank you for sharing and have a great day!
Hi Alex and Melissa 🙋🏽. I can't believe you brought something bad. At One Time we TOO had A&W'S everywhere.but After a while they kinda faded away 🤷🏽
I’ve never eaten at a McDonalds. We would go hang out at A&W and drink the best Root beer everI. ❤ good work on the cards
Look into the Upper Deck Brett Hall 50/50 card. He signed 50 cards that were sealed into packs and put into circulation. 90-91.
Kids, hockey cards were like crypto in the 90s. Everyone thought they were going to get rich
lmao glorified beanie babies😆
I never bought a pack of cards in my life but I did love playing card games from a young age as that was a way to get the adults around me to play with me. Also loved chess for the same reason.
Dan Quayle card😂 So random!!! We never know what you will find 🤗
Love the box hunt. Wish it was longer..Have a great day
That was a great surprise scoring that Wayne Gretzky rookie card!

Brett hull. Brings me back to 90s jokes. Brett hull in Norwegian is Wide Hole :P
Do I see a Benz convertible ???? 😍
Very interesting! Good buy.
What most people didn’t know about Eric Lindros is that he was actually a rookie in baseball around the same time frame for the Dodgers.
Check the push pin on the Brett Hall rookie for a yellow dot.
Is that a Mercedes 190sl (black with red interior) just hanging out in your garage or do my eyes deceive me?

We called it Kraft Dinner too in Colorado, (Krap Dinner)
I don't know what happened to A&W in the U.S. There was that marketing SNAFU with the A&W third-pounder burger.
Back then the police department made cards for all of the cops. They would give them to the kids when they had things going on in town. My son made me stop if we saw a cop pulled over so he could get their card
Being a 90s kid I ugly laughed at the Dan Quayle card. 🤣🤣🤣
Would love to know when these go to auction. Definitely want to take a stab at a couple.
My mom worked at an A&W in Missouri in the late '50s 💖
I'll give you $10 shipped and tracked for that Gretzky rookie
What is that burgundy convertible in the background, a Mercedes??
Just curious, is it that sellers want you to commit to buying a box of cards like this, sight unseen?
Usually yes or there’s a time constraint that we can’t go through everything properly
Do you still have the GI Joe Hydrofoil in box for sale??
Very very unlikely, everything he's had from recent bulk lots has been sorted and gone to Kastner auctions, if items don't sell I think they just get put in the next appropriate auction but most stuff sells as it starts with a very low/no reserve
Still a nice collectable wood box 😀
I spot either a 190 or 300 hiding in the garage! C'mon Alex, beans need spilling here!

Yeah, I learned about there being trading cards of just about anything from Vinny Vinesauce.
New Black Mercedes convertible in the corner ?
Score! 😜
The only hockey game I ever went to was at the Forum when Gretzky made his big number goal. Think it was close to 1990.
you will be successful. love your channel
Chris Chelios one of my favorite players of all time.
There's got to be a video out there of some clever way to recycle those cards into something useful artistic.
