Accurate & to the point calculation. excellent analysis, however, you should have added one more factor, i.e. RESALE VALUE OF CAR after 6 to 8 years. here EV has clear disadvantage. No one will prefer 2nd hand EV while for patrol vehicle, demand would be high. It makes Petrol a clear winner (assuming patrol cost remains below 150 after 6 years)

Nice explanation! I think you missed mentioning that the entire battery isn't replaced, only the degraded cells. So, the cost of replacing the battery is significantly lower.
But how's that possible that only few cell will degrade , bcz every cell is recharging and discharging , in this scenario are cells must be degrade , it will remain a question until someone completes the full 8 years and go for batter change ........
@@vinaysiwach9734 Agreed to your point. However, typically, LFP batteries have a lifecycle of 1500-2500 cycles. One cycle means charging from 0% to 100%, and charging from 50% to 100% is considered half a cycle. If you charge from 60% to 100% and then from 40% to 100%, this is considered one cycle. Assuming a lifecycle of 1500 cycles and a car range of 300 km, the battery would start degrading after approximately 450,000 km. Degradation doesn't mean the car suddenly becomes undriveable. Instead, you might experience a reduced range, perhaps 270-280 km, compared to the original 300 km. As you know, car battery technology differs significantly from smartphone battery technology. By the time the battery starts to degrade, we would have already saved a substantial amount on running costs. I know a Nexon EV owner who has driven over 200,000 km and a Tesla owner in the US who has driven over 300,000-400,000 km. Its a good video to get clarity on which fuel option to choose. But overall if we consider the moderate use like 10-12k per year. Petrol car still make sense as total cost difference wouldn't be so much, plus initial saving & resale value will cover that if considered it for 5-10 years of ownership. I used cng car previously and know the fuel station waiting line to fill cng, also don't think it will change soon considering the speed of cng cars options adding vs fuel stations of cng. Let me know your thoughts. Would love to hear your and audience perspective. TIA!
Nice explanation! I want to add few things in it. You have considered 30K in 5 year which is 500 a month! This will work for those people who doesn't drive car much. Just family trips or nearby places. But practically why did they buy car if they don't want to run it that is also waste of money. they could have managed via cabs as those fin influencers says. Like you they also advocate invest remaining money in this or that. The fact is how many people buy car in cash? Marginal. Most of people take car loans. How they are supposed to invest if they are buying car on loan. Now comes to pricing. I'll give you example the top model of tata nexon ev petrol 17 lakhs in my city, the ev top model costs 17 lakh. Because they have significantly reduced the price of EV. Similar case is with Tiago. In future most of comapny will have similar pricing for ICE and EV varients. If you charge it outside it will cost you around 3.5 rupees per kilometer. Even a Royal Enfield runs at 3-3.5 rupees per KM. car is always safer than motorcycle. So my take is if you have a good running of vehicle than go for EV. You should go for ICE engines if you are living in remote areas where brand services are not good. For tier 1 and tier 2 cities EVs are better. I have ICE engine and EV both so I shared what I feel.
You should take read world mileage , petrol , cng and diesel average is very low compared to what we can see in Delhi Also, most important is to compare hybrid vehicles with EV. For me, Nexon EV makes sense, q ki city running 80% rhegi. Automatic h, so compare to AMT se hi krunga. 1000 km tk running kr hi lunga, bike b km chlegi. Karnataka me price difference km h.
You have not considered resale value which is very important in decision making. Ev will depreciate highly if one has to sell it after 5 years even if running is high.

Thanks for making an informationational video. This is quite helpful. However you've missed 2 important points to reveal the whole picture. Let's dive into the details which is the real devil in the story.
1. Resale value comparison between petrol car & EV.
2. Initial investment.
For this moment, let's focus on the initial investment and compare between petrol car & EV.
Consider, I purchased a petrol car instead of an EV and saved 3 lakh rupees upfront and driven 30K KMs in 5 years. Per your example, the total cost difference between petrol car and EV are more or less the same, which stands at 13.64L for petrol car and 13.93L for EV. While this sounds sane, the ignored point is the 3L rupees saved upfront. Investing that 3L at an 8% moderate retun would fetch 4.45L Rs in 5 years. Now considering this point let's do the math.
1. Total cost of petrol car after 5 years of driving 30k kms: 13.64L - 4.45L= 9.19L
2. Total cost of EV after 5 years of driving 30k kms: 13.93L
3. Conclusion: EV is expensive by 4.74L.
If you have solar there is no running cost for EV. Even if you charge it at home it will cost 70 paisa to 1.5 rupees per kilometer depending on state.
You should take read world mileage , petrol , cng and diesel average is very low compared to what we can see in Delhi
Also, most important is to compare hybrid vehicles with EV.
BTW EV is not that green as it needs battery which is highly polluting industry, and similar problem with Electricity Grid which mostly runs on bio fuel
Good point, hybrid will be coming up soon!

Will definitely add this point in the next video, Thanks
Petrol vehicles will also depreciate fast if battery prices drop. Because people will sell their petrol cars to buy EVs
Depriciation and Resale value and comparison accordingly.
Sure!
Good Insights. In case of EV will battery retain its capacity? What if like other devices the battery performance gradually drops? Then range anxiety increases . What if battery charging capacity slows down and discharge time decrease ? Some how we are not able to change our mindset .
