Thanks for this because this is absolutely the best review of this bag I've seen from an ACTUAL grown up. Everyone else had this.. amateur feel and skipped over things professionals needed to know. THANK YOU!
Appreciate that. Well like you I get frustrated with some videos, ie I can't see the product properly or up close. So I spend a bit more time trying to cover these areas as best I can. I try to do the same with tripods too, most people seem to find them useful. I just try to show what I would want to see. Glad it helped you
Great review. Glad someone came out with all the specs. Curious if under all that weight the shoulder straps feel strong enough? Think Tank was great and sent me free extra side straps - even though I don't have the backpack just yet.
All I can say is I have not had any problems so far with the backpack and I've been using it regularly. It seems strong enough and for me it carries enough gear that I might want to (2 bodies, 4 lenses etc) and I can add stuff to the outside if needed.
Looks like it'll be quite heavy at over 1KG and also an issue with most camera bags they don't have harder plastics like trekking bags to move the air around your back which is just a general problem with camera bag manufacturers, would be nice if some of them would put a trampoline setup which is useful in summer weather.
It's rated 1.8KG, which is a bit less than the 2KG of my Tamrac Expedition 5X. I'm not aware of many backpacks for photo use that are near 1KG, unless something is out there with very slight padding, or a small size. Can't say on the air aspect, because I've only been out a few times with it, and it's pretty cold here. Summer time I will have a better idea of how it holds up
@@MrBazReviews Cool it'll be nice to hear a long term review to see if it fits your travels. There are quite a few bags from LowePro over 1KG (similar padding), I have one of them but found it quite bulky, I now travel with a trekking bag with a camera insert which does help make it less of sweaty back issue.
@@alexprach I looked around at various makers, Vanguard had a few, LowePro I have used before and they had a couple which were of some interest. Then I ran across this by accident and it seemed to be mostly what I was looking for. It's a bit on the higher end price wise, but if it lasts and does the job long term - that's what counts. I've made the mistake of buying overly big packs before, I'm happy enough with the carrying capacity of this, it can hold a fair bit really. Even at this mid size it can get heavy with a full load. A 25-30 litre backpack loaded up is not my idea of fun. Maybe if you hike and need to carry camping gear and camera gear. I prefer a bag for camera get mostly. I'll update things maybe when I have had more time to use it
I don't think that would be a good idea at all. It's the metal buckles that could catch and do damage to the machine and bag. Leather isn't ideal in water either, least not for long. I did the other week hand wash another canvas bag I had which I keep in the car (also had some leather parts to it), but it wasn't a camera bag, and it didn't cost a fraction of what this did!. I think you would be better off with a damp sponge/cloth and cleaning areas that needed it, v submersing it in water. Or you could ask Think Tank and see what they say, just seems a bit risky to me.

Awesome in depth review. Do you happen to know if the laptop sleeve would fit a 15.5" laptop? Physical measured length.

How long are the pen holders in the outer pocket? I was thinking of placing other things in there besides pens or pencils.
