It is actually the composer of the song, Clark Powell whispering words (not in english of course, but specific ones) into the mic. Quoted, "I wanted the music to reflect aspects both beautiful and profane, magnificent and repulsive. The chords that the song shifts back and forth on are comforting, a repeating plagal cadence that hints at religious undertones. Contrasting this are elements of the song such as the whispers and the vocals, which are meant to unsettle and confuse the listener."
Guys, it's not a guy eating his breakfast or taking food out of his teeth. There are words, and it says: “Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.” Clark himself confirmed this.
... I feel... sort of... dead... yet alive, listening to this. I can't explain it, like I'm waking up in the afterlife, but at the same time, waking up to reality... dude Homestuck is fucking legit xD
"Welcome to the Land of Crypts and Helium. How many skulls can you find?? Mwahahahaha!" This was probably what Hussie was thinking as he posted this amazing update...
...I swear, while I was listening to this... It felt like a cool, humid draft was washing over my right ear. ...the kind of draft you'd expect to feel on a rainy day.
OFF is an indie game by Mortis Ghost. It's sort of a deconstruction of RPG game tropes. I'd really recommend it; it's really cool and fun (and also free!). Fair warning though - although it's not a horror game, it still has its definite nightmare fuel.
This reminds me a lot of the music from the PS2 (I think it was on Xbox and Gamecube as well) game, Vexx. Heavy use of piano and violin with a bit of drums in the background for just about every level track. The game is structured like Super Mario 64, but there isn't a set amount of "stars" (in this case wraith hearts) per level and it varies from like 6 to 12 depending on the level I think.
A. It would Plaz the guy who actually made the song B. As the song was originally made for Rose's planet, the land of light and rain, I believe the eating sounds are supposed to be its denizen (Cetus) eating all of the fish in the ocean as detailed at some point I forget when.
Has anyone tried playing two songs from the album together? What if we play Shade and Wind at the same time? Will it make a hidden and even more beautiful song?
I remember when I first heard this, I listened carefully for a moment to that drizzling rain sound and distortion, and then I smiled. I was like "Oh my gosh. Rose is playing the rain." It randomly occurred to me, but I really do think that this is the sound of Rose playing the rain
I don't know why, but i always have feeling, that this song doesn't really fit into the Medium album. Not that i don't like it, this one is one of my favourites, but i always have a feeling, that the other songs in this album are taking place in the water and then here's this... idk

Andrew Hussie is probably one of the few people who would be like "Yeah in this song I'm just gonna eat my breakfast"
It was written by clark powell but yeah it sounds like someone's eating an apple
i thought those were bj noises
definitely bj noises.
it's actually Powell smacking his lips close to the mic to get an uncomfortably close feeling in the song.
rina you'll find out when you're older

And what does "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn," mean?
Apparently it means "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
well if cthulhu is coming, guess I should leave before i die
"In his house in Rl'yeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
@@ihavekalashnikovyoudomath9275 It's a line used by cultists in the works of HP Lovecraft, which everything about the Horrorterrors is riffing off of.

i cannot agree more, but i must add the depression factor of the worlds background and history as well as how this song adds an empty feeling
horrorterror chants ungodly knowledge [asmr] [mouth sounds]
Cetus eating the aquatic life
Man, I'm so glad this awesome song has sounds in the middle of it that make me want to tear out my eardrums.
listen to this and clockwork at the same time and you get a beautifully chilling peace
OMG. I was just experimenting that and it's just too awesome to explain the awesomeness my ears heard.
fandingdano wow, sounds awesome
fandingdano it sounds so nice ewe
sounds really creepy kinda
OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER THANK YOU SO MUCH
When you realise that the medium sounds so bloody odd but it's amazing
Those sounds at 3:10? Yeah, thats the horrorterrors getting through to you.
This sounds so incredible with headphones
this song never gets old
god
love this.
3:10 Is Oglogoth grinding his teeth? It sounds as if The Horrorterrors are speaking to you.
Nah fam he's just eating his dinner.
~✿~Lunch in the Outer Ring~✿~ 【ASMR】【Mouth Noises】
"Welcome to the Land of Crypts and Helium. How many skulls can you find?? Mwahahahaha!" This was probably what Hussie was thinking as he posted this amazing update...
This is from the flash where Jane explores her planet, the Land of Crypts and Helium
I think this is one of my favorite songs on Medium
...I swear, while I was listening to this... It felt like a cool, humid draft was washing over my right ear. ...the kind of draft you'd expect to feel on a rainy day.
Reminds me very much of Rose, with that violin and all. Very nice~
I love this
still do
its because hussie is brainstorming ideas at lunch on how to kill off the remaining characters.
What if the sounds around 3:10 are the HorrorTerrors speaking to you...
maxleby Q. Woah, holy shit. BACK THE FUCK UP.
Holy fuck
It actually is.
Since it's Rose's theme.
@@TechnoSmarts10 SIBLING :OOOO

I don't think so? If you look on OFF's page for tvtropes, there should be a link to a download.

Listening to this and Clockwork at the same time it sounds good holy shit
i think all or almost all songs from Medium can make great sounding pairs, for some reason!
feel sorry for Rose she always has to deal with wet clothes on her medium
I love the effect the song has when ur wearing headphones.
The instruments used here reminds me of Darling Kanaya. Fitting in the best way.
The piano melody which starts at 0:48 sounds similar to the song that plays in [S] GO ON, on page 002322
Maybe you won't see this, but you mean Skies of Skaia?
Huh, that's actually a pretty interesting bit of trivia! Thanks for the clarification on that part of the song.
And that's a completely fine interpretation to have!
A. It would Plaz the guy who actually made the song
B. As the song was originally made for Rose's planet, the land of light and rain, I believe the eating sounds are supposed to be its denizen (Cetus) eating all of the fish in the ocean as detailed at some point I forget when.
Yep! Pretty much!
Aw hell yeah.
Guys help Im at the oart where the main violinist took his lunch break im laughing aloud im supposed to be sleeping
That's horrorterror speak you mortal
the schlorp sounds are making me really uncomfortable while listening to this.
You definitely wouldn't like derse, as that is a horrorterror m8
It's literally the composer summoning Cthulhu.
@@noahegler9131 Actually, they are trying to keep Cthulhu asleep.
now thats what id call a haunting violin refrain
What's with the dorito break XD I love this song but everytime I hear it I sit there and cringe until its over
best one yet
try playing it in sync with the song frost. its very pretty.
V1c1551tud3 true :3
clark powell my beloved
some bits of this sounds like something out of WoW
Sounds like something out of pokemon mystery dungeon
Best song in the entire comic
Has anyone tried playing two songs from the album together? What if we play Shade and Wind at the same time? Will it make a hidden and even more beautiful song?
There need to be more songs about rain.
This song reminds me of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.
Hmmmmmm...
Where am i? Whats this, rain? Well, that tracks. Im definitely somewhere else, after all. 🤷♀️🥁
it sounds like someones chewing on a spoon in the middle of the song
I remember when I first heard this, I listened carefully for a moment to that drizzling rain sound and distortion, and then I smiled. I was like "Oh my gosh. Rose is playing the rain."
It randomly occurred to me, but I really do think that this is the sound of Rose playing the rain
@metaniterocks Playing the rain is supposed to be Rose returning life to the ocean in her planet.
isn't it jane theme when she is on her planet ?
Yes.
Gabriel Bruno no its the second one from rose's planet isnt it?
ilesonce sb I believe so, Rose's planet is Light and Rain.
ilesonce sb It can be both things.
why is everyone using grammar
20firebird i doubt it cos rose's one actually had rain in the title
its sounds kinda weird and cool with wind fixed version
Dang this album deserves the utmost respect of me and people
When I hear this song I feel like nothing is wrong...
Same
The fuck is wrong with you two? Cthulhu is summoned in the middle!
3:31 "What?"
+batterup98
hussie pls
I just figured out that the solo violin synth on my keyboard sounds the exact same as the violin at the beginning of this song
The sounds in the middle made me go"wtf!?"
call me crazy but i swear the beginning sounds after the rain are from blue exorcist ep. 5?????
what the hell it does!! >.< i was working on some summer school programs and heard that wierd ass noise..... freaked me out.....
Land of Light Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response
Haha.
i wish there was a medium 2

You've gotta learn to play the rain, Rose!
🥲 too bad
exactly. I freaked the fuck out the first time I played.
Man I love frosted flakes
Has anyone tried syncing this with Song of Skaia?
Must be Hussie eating cereal.
bioshock anybody?
i think its the denizen eating all the fish

3:10 sounds like when someones chewing gum and breathing in your ear ew
Sounds more like water dripping and someone maybe walking in a cave to me..
it sounds more like an almost soundless whisper on 3:10..
It's water droplets brah.
I always imaged them eating a clam
steamed clams
mIrAcLeS....
Maybe Andrew Hussie got hungry?
What's with the weird whispery noises?

isn't this helium instead of rain?

Nah, its called rain because the balloons drop water onto the planet to help stuff grow :3
***** ohhh that makes sense :V
Alexander Mothersill
oh!thanks for the explanation!
Good to know. When I heard it, I thought he was sampling some porn video or something.
wow what the hell
but why
is eating weirdly an Instrument
wow the eating sounds halfway in the song really annoy me. could someone make a version omitting it?
Is that supposed to be rainfall? because it sounds like the violinist took a dorito break at 3:10
That's the horrorterrors speaking

3:10 does NOT sound like eating food, if you know what I mean.
