    Got a 2006 project Beetle for my daughter--this is the third of your videos I've watched to get it up and running. Clear instructions and great quality videos. Thanks for sharing this knowledge, it's a big help.

    This is exactly the video I was looking for. There is something inside of my door causing my window to not roll all the way up. I am going to attempt to take off the panel to see if I can figure out what it is in hopes that it's an easy fix. Thanks for sharing. I hope it is as easy as you made it sound. I like your video. You have a great way of explaining things.

      It is :) The panel clips are usually the hardest part.

    Another great video by the bearded VW god. Just love to see more on the old Passat’s especially video’s on the VW Passat B5 & B5.5. So simple to remove, I probably would of needed ever tool in my toolbox on trying to do this job.
    .
    My cloth on both my front door cards have for no reason both come loose at the same time and wonder if any one has some ideas on how to reattach the cloth without messing up the interior.

    Sometimes there is an additional Phillips screw at the top close to where the side mirror is. A stubby Phillips screwdriver is helpful with that. On the driver's side keep in mind there is another connection for the security LED.

    • @chrstphrr
      @chrstphrr 7 лет назад +1

      Also, the space between the door and the dash/A-pillar is pretty tight. A stubby screwdriver, or a small ratchet with a socket phillips bit would be handy for this. And, tape for good measure (so you don't scratch the paint on the metal panel).

    On my 2003 Jetta this worked, mostly. All the screws were where he said they were. However...however, on my 16 year old car many of the clips had gotten old and brittle, and so had the plastic fittings on the trim panel that held the clips. Some clips broke and had to be replaced, you can find them for prices ranging from less than one dollar to less than three from VW. The parts of the trim panel that broke I'm going to have to improvise some kind of patch.

    Is it possible to get just the door grab handle off and replace it without removing the whole door panel? Mine is looking pretty ratty. I got the trim cover off and took the 2 screws out, but the handle itself is still stuck for life, and I'm afraid to break anything. Is it supposed to simply pull out once unscrewed? And if that works, any trick to reinstalling it securely?

      HumbleMechanic wow! Thanks for quick reply! Thanks to your video I got the panel off, and I was able to get the regulator panel out enough to see the front white clip broke. I have the window at least up now (thanks to a metal quick tie) The regulator also should be replaced as it is old and weak. I’m going to try and fix this myself. Need to know how to remove the door lock tab from the door.
      I have to order parts, so will be a bit before I get them. Trying to keep my costs down. Thanks so much for your great video!
      I at least have the window up so I can drive around in this colder Canadian weather.

      Yes. The only different is a Phillips screw by the mirror and the way the crank comes off. The trim ring behind the crank slides

    how similar is removing a Honda CR-V door panel to a VW door panel?

    These titles are wrong. You are saying all VW door cards come off like this? No they don't.
    Same with how to remove a Audi headlight etc... that was how to remove a headlight on an A4, my S3 is completely different!
    Your titles are so vague.

      @HumbleMechanic  7 лет назад +1

      +Cal M the strategies apply to many cars across the brand. I understand where you're coming from.

    +HumbleMechanic You know that the door handle cables are pain in the ass to remove, so you removed the clip beforehand, and not show it on the video, huh? I don't blame you, I thought I might learn a trick how to get them off "correctly" the first one I did, I broke.. second I didn't even try

    • @vidarg75
      @vidarg75 7 лет назад

      still34u What ARE you talking about? He showed what needs to be removed to get the door card off. Are you talking about the outside pull handle?

    • @still34u
      @still34u 7 лет назад

      Nono .. The inside door handle , the cable is hanging on the handle, but then also clipped in place, that clip is a Biatch to remove, as I said, I broke it the first time, because it wasn't clear to me just from observation... You can see the clip already undone at around 2:30

    • @vidarg75
      @vidarg75 7 лет назад

      still34u Aha, I remember now, sorry, my bad. I've taken my door cards off so many times now, so that clip just comes off naturally when I reach back there.
