    Thanks Charles, I saw plenty of vids that told me how to remove the door panel, but none on how to remove the inner panel and most importantly the pin arrangement for the window glass. Mine was a 2012 Tiguan and this showed clearly what I needed. Perfect thanks!

    Great vid, the only thing missing was telling how to re-teach the car the new full up/down window position so it doesn't do the anti-pinch action (which my B5.5 did). Hold the window down button until the window reaches the bottom, and keep holding for at least 3 seconds longer. Do the same all the way up, plus 3 seconds longer. It teaches the CCM the new full down and up position of the regulator.

    Best to reseal the lower half of that metal carrier panel before re-installation, otherwise you unlock the Passat Pool Party feature. Great video, clever workarounds, and very clear, concise commentary as always.

    Unfortunately I found this video *after* I just repaired both sides of my 2001 Jetta Wagon. The A1A video shows installing the pins through that little regulator access door. It cannot be done that way, or if it can, it means your pins are too loose. I was so frustrated I even created my own how-to video once I figured it out, but my video is far inferior to this one. Outstanding, Charles! Needless to say I am a subscriber now.

    I went through this JUST to get to and clean the automatic lock solenoid that quit working some years back (Hint: A follow up video on fixting that woud be awesome here !) THis was a good reminder of things I could have done differently - specifically with that window pin (groan - had I known installing it in the window and engaging the clip later would have saved me hours or agony , but alas this was WAY before You-Tube.) A follow up video of that would be awesome. Awesome job.

    Bought a Haynes manual for my 2013 Gti, which was absolutely useless on this occasion, black and white pictures (outdated) with limited info for changing the regulator..I even bought the recommended tools to carry out the job which was a waste of money - if only I found this tutorial before hand....8 yrs on and VW are still using the same glass pins/dowels and man was mine a pain in the...kudos to this clip I got it sorted, getting the pin out was troublesome but installation was a breeze which was mostly to your pin installation trick.

    Tackled my window regulator on the front passenger side on my 2012 Fusion last summer. The amount of rivets used on it was insane. I replaced the rivets with 1/4 inch nuts and bolts so if it ever goes again it'll make disassembly less of a night mare. Wish you would have made this sooner as I had to teach myself but this video serves as great reinforcement!

    Well first a local mechanic said we needed a different window (it wouldn't close all the way. Then the glass company said the window is fine, it's a mechanical issue. So we go to Volkswagen reluctantly to once and for all fix the problem. They kept it one hour, charged $80.00 and said it needs a new regulator which they didn't have in stock) gave me an estimate for $680.00, $180. parts, $400 LABOR. So I thought wait a minute how hard can this be? I watched THIS VIDEO and ordered a $165.00 regulator from VW. Today I went out to prepare for the operation, took the panel off and looked around and lo and behold, the white nylon piece was just lying in the bottom of the door! I came in and watched THIS VIDEO again and fixed it without a "new regulator". Thanks for this.

I figured out how to deal with this. I just made a knot in the wire just where the wire comes out from the plastic window holder (that's the only place to do the knot). Than it was nice and perfectly snug.

    at 9:00 Don't need to remove those rivets before remove the carrier panel, I remove the carrier panel with the door lock all at once,on rear door that fitted with 1/4 widow or wagon, first you need to remove the short window's rail that fit front of the door lock, then remove the lock bolts and then you can remove the all out a little to easy remove the cable that from the outer handle to the door lock ,then can out at once.some model need to remove the outer door handle at once.
    after out ,then can remove and install the rivets easy., front door is easy because no rail there,, Hope this help!

    R/R window motor problem? When closing the window with a 'one-touch' press of the switch - right when it rolls completely up and then encounters resistance from 'topping-out' - the motor cycles the window right back into open position and goes all the way down...which thens ends with a 'thunk' sound. If I'm 'careful' I can keep it from doing that if I 'nurse' the window closed in 'bursts' of the switch. Seems like two problems?

    I feel like window regulator problems for MK3-4 cars replaced the door handle problems of the MK1-2. You know it was going to break as some point so get used to fixing it.

    On my 2003 Passat, I noticed water coming inside on the footwell carpet. It appears to be coming from the door when it snows and I park the car outside for 4-5 hours. Does the regulator need to have a gasket or seal on its edge all around? I’m wondering if the reason could be a worn seal around the regulator.

    Do you have a video on how to install a new peg and dowel ONLY?

    • @smokinjoe8662
      @smokinjoe8662 4 года назад

      Never mind. Turns out someone already had the regulator out, so I didn't need to remove the door latch to remove it. I was hoping to avoid that step, but no big deal. Unfortunately, the plastic peg and dowel weren't inside the door, so I have to wait for the replacement I ordered to arrive. Thanks for the video.

    Hey Charles, I'm a new tech and I have a question about something I'm kinda struggling with about how to deal with on the fly. I work in a body shop (contex). What is the process you go through when you run into a situation that isn't standard situation let's say. Maybe the car has been repaired before and the precious shop didn't fix it right, or there is some unforeseen damage. What process to do use as a tech as far as taking notes, pictures, how to approach the job, do you repair it or not?

    How do i replace the glass? We had to smash the old glass, ive taken the door pretty much apart for the cleaning. Do you just take the door seal off from the top?
