Watched it, picked up my plunger, a bowl of cold water, walked to my car and literally pulled out two huge dents. I would recommend cold water when the car is hot coz that plunger sticks like a magnet. I've had the dents for months but didnt know the way to fix it. Thank you for the info bro.

Fill the largest plunger you can find with boiling water then apply the full plunger to the dent while keeping as much water trapped against the dent. After 45 seconds the waters heat will have transferred to the metal making it as soft as is possible.

I’ve done this several times. I didn’t use hot water the water just makes a better suction. A better way is using a suction cup made to hold or pick things up. There is also a vacuum system with a cup you can use that uses a vacuum pump to pull dents out. Works really good.

I just fixed a dent on my car... after I watched OTHER VIDEOS and the first part of YOUR VIDEO, where the dent on the AUDI was about same locale as on my TOYOTA .... I did not continue watching, only AFTER THE FIX.....lol
Well.... I need to make some comments...
I tried, a while back, to fix the dent by pounding it from the INSIDE of the trunk... it did not work well... today, a few minutes ago, I tried the HOT WATER trick.. and it worked WELL...
You are partially right when you claim that ONE SHOULD NOT USE HOT WATER.... BUT, that is true for some case, like the dent on your RED TRUCK... also you ARE RIGHT about the ambient TEMPERATURE ...
The reason I decided to try the HOT WATER TRICK is... here in "KALIFORNIA" it is WARM! Also, my understanding of Physics and the LOCATION & TYPE OF DENT!
THE HOT WATER causes the METAL to EXPAND and this EXPANSION seems to help this type of dented area to RECOIL to its original state EASIER.... I did not even use a plunger... I just pounded it WITH MY HAND from inside the trunk! It just popped into position, WHILE IT IT DID NOT when NO HOT WATER WAS USED...
    GOOD VIDEO overall..
    BEST

I saw a Johnny Carson show back in the early 70's when I was a kid and this old man brought in a car to which he said he had built himself. He showed how the plastic aluminum to which he said he had manufactured in his lab would repell any dents made on this particular car just by using a water hose and watering it the dents just popped out. His car ran on solar cells and electric magnetic energy. No motors no gears. He said his wheels were made out of a hemp and cardboard fiber. It didn't need brakes as the control was fabricated to move and stop at any speeds, something like a volume control.

A dry plunger wont do much good. Pour water over top of plunger to seat it. Window suction cups also grip much better, they are used to transport heavy pieces of glass so they obviously have good suction.

  • @dartcharger318
    @dartcharger318 Год назад +7

At time stamp 2;35 and in most of the subsequent pulls, you can see that the plunger is pushed so hard against the sheet metal, that the outer lip of the plunger that is supposed to seal the vacuum gets lifted, thus not creating a seal. When the pull of the plunger happens abruptly, the there is still quiet some air inside, so the vacuum is weak and there is very little pull of the sheet metal.

If the temperature should help, I'd use a bath towel over the bent area and soak it with the boiling water to get the boiling water to actually raise the temperature of the metal panel. I think heating the panel should help avoid clear coat cracking in the process... Hot water works with plastic for sure ;)

Your video inspired me to try to plunger trick on the dent in my Acura TL. No creases in the metal. Was only pushed in. I used a dry plunger without the hot water. The dent was caused by me hip-checking my rear quarter panel when I lost my balance when walking on a broken curb while mowing edge of my lawn. The dent pulled out perfectly with one pull on the plunger.

hi, I thik boiling water or heat in general expands the base metal. when the expanded metal in the dent area is surrounded by cold metal that doesnt expand, it creates a situation in which the hot metal expands like a curved line between two anchor points. it goes further in but with the help of a plunger it is pulled out more easily because of the spring-like effect. you are right about the right type of dent. if the dent has some abrupt angles, this method fails. the perimeter of the dent has to have smooth curves

get different size plungers to create suction, take a little more time with the water, if you live somewhere pretty hot the water going on may be no hotter than spraying water on and letting it heat up, boiling water won't hurt the paint anywhere near as much as sanding the paint off to fix the dent. Thanks for the vid

I am a PDR Technician (paintless dent repair) which means I work on dents like these and worse daily, but all I have to say is that if you try this you might pull up the bulk of a dent but you will never achieve a complete removal of the dent because you will end up raising some parts of the metal higher than others locking it in place. So if you want go ahead and try this but do not get upset that it turns out looking worse than before

Currently snowing in April where I am at my recommendation for anyone is if you get any dents particularly small ones do not use boil water because like he said it can ruin your paint coat instead of
Go to Home Depot buy a sink plunger a small one pour cold water and it’ll work perfect just did it !!!

just heat up little bit with water or even better heatgun because clear tends to crack less or to avoid cracking completly but yes dry wet cold warm you can pull ti out pretty easy

If you really need to heat up the panels you could use a heatgun.

put a deflated basketball or football already attach to little compressor behind plastic bumper. heat up with hot water or heat gun and start compresser, turn off when bumper is back in shape. you mite have to break off needle in ball to get it to deflate or try to pull out needle..

This just doesn't work. I poured boiling water on a flat tire and it didn't fix it. I also tried pouring boiling water on my cracked windshield and again, it didn't fix it. As a matter of fact the crack got worse. I then tried pouring the boiling water on my sister's broken ankle, and that didn't work either. As a matter of fact, I ended up getting a black eye. This boiling water idea just doesn't fix anything.

I had a dent on my car door from a shopping trip to the local shopping centre. I dd not use the hot water or heat gun, I just got a toilet plunger and push it onto the dented part of the door then pull . Well, it worked and the dent come out. But it may have to do with the hot weather here and the temperature was around 40 degree celcius. Minus a few paint scratches the dent is gone.
