I always felt like golurk was a pokemon that needed a mega. Comparing it to the Iron Giant feels like a very American thing. Golurk is closer to the giant mecha and robot anime of the 70s and 80s, especially with the way it flies as well. Also kaiju movies (even giant turtle Gamera flew with rockets).
Golurk was actually designed by James Turner, a brit, rather than the usual Japanese designers, so it being based off of a more western property like The Iron Giant is much more feasible than normal.

@@blaster.m1943 interesting typing, it loses ground STAB for fighting. to compliment this new typing, you could give it a mega-exclusive ability; ancient fist (iron fist but better, maybe a 40-50% as opposed to 20% boost), or just stick with no guard. however i think that the loss of ground type would hurt it and not make sense in terms of the actual evolution. i dont think that stab dynamic punch is absolutely necessary with the attack stat. i agree with most of the stats you chose, and it looks like you did the 118% boost to get it from 483 to roughly 573. the speed makes sense given it flies at mach speeds, the attack makes sense since it is probably now totally unhinged, but shouldn't it be a bit bulkier? base 100 def at least, maybe give it no special attack lol. overall really agreeable, i can tell you thought this through. do you agree with just keeping it a ground type? what else do you suggest an ability could be?

Best boy. Ghost/ground ghost robot mech THAT CAN FLY! Back in the day when you needed a Pokémon with fly but didn’t want a flying type, what a mon to have
laughs in Mew, Flygon, Latios, Latias, Giratina, Arceus, Hydreigon, Volcarona, Reshiram, Zekrom, Genesect and possibly more I couldn't find a source after gen 5
Am I the only one who got disappointed when used fly on Golurk on gen 6-8 expecting to see a flying animation but get to see a stone giant casually falling down motionless?
no wonder nearly every flying-type have a forced flying animation
I KNOW THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING EVER HE JUST BODYSLAMS YOU
Why would they lol
Ooo, a Golurk video. This giant clay monster is one of my favourites from Unova, I’m hoping it’s good in competitive!
He should have got a mega instead of audino. He was the perfect candidate! Especially based on his Dex entried
Hydreigon deserved it more than both of them
yeah did audino really even want a mega??? it cant hold leftovers and it gets the subpar healer that is useless outside of doubles. i guess the fairy typing is cool but it could've been changed to pure fairy without a mega and nobody would've batted an eye
@@goldenhydreigon4727 Hydreigon's already UU, he doesn't need it. Megas should be for weaker pokemons
I think it should've been Vanilluxe or Chandelure.
@@crystalhunter4122 You mean Mewtwo and Rayquaza were weak ?

I love Golurk so much and was so disapointed to see if drop further and further, along with Dusknoirs issue of no good Ghost STAB. But seeing a formerly mediocre PU Pokemon jump to legitimate UU and RU success in *ONE* Generation, especially a Pokemon as unique and cool as Golurk, is just so heartwarming. Gamefreak is weird and cruel at times with how they treat other favorites, but it's good to know they do pay attention... A little bit. Now time for me to finally Shiny hunt this badass beast of a golem.

Golurk
game: oh no, knock scary
Manga:
Taking off in 3-2-1
-feat FLY
One thing that I loved so far about PokeAni is the huge Golurk acting as a guardian. And that we found out what happens when it's seal is removed.
Seeing him go back up in usage really warms my heart, I always liked golem and thought oh down it goes(like a lot of other moms). And as for any buffs bumping up it’s defences, cause it won’t compete for a fast ghost type in OU, to possibly get a neesh as a bulky offensive ghost
Same. At least it's not as bad as Dusknoir or Banette.
I agree. Here's hoping for more boost to Golurk.
I’ve been waiting for this my whole life!!
me too
So you two were born after the release of Black and White?
@@PansyPops lol.
Woohoo! Go Golurk!
I'm happy to see my favorite pokemon gettin some love from both False & Game Freak
Golurk is truly one of the coolest Pokémon ever. It’s at the top of my list of Pokémon I would buff.
It really should be much bulkier than it is.
same
Jigglypuff Well, at least Gen 8 was very kind to Golurk and made it amazing. :)
if Golruk got a regional form, I would want it to be ghost/steel and here's how I would rearrange the stat's:
-25 to sp.atk
-5 to Spd
+15 to both Def & Sp.Def
sure all I did was just buff both defenses to 95 but tbh it's HP & Atk stats are great so really only the defenses would need to be buffed for it to take a hit better
But isn't Golurk also based on an clay? If so, than that's why it isn't bulkier.
And even if it didn't get bulkier, it still manage to do well anyway.
For an offensive Pokemon it has a decent bulk
Fun fact: Bruh Golurk is so cool I'm so happy for him.

*sad Electivire, Luxray and Zebstrika noises*
Wild Charge was so close, but then they had to give it recoil for no reason, especially when Leaf Blade exist (same BP, no recoil) tho it's distribution is not as big
EDIT: tho that's only one 90BP physical move that's *NOT A SIGNATURE* well Leaf Blade was a signature but not anymore
Yeah, so many Ghosts love Poltergeist (Dusknoir, Froslass, Dhelmise, Trevenant, Gourgeist, etc). Really hope they give Electric a good physical move that a variety of Electric-types can use
Now they only have to give physical rock types a 100 percent accurate stab that isn't smack down.

SAME HERE!!!! GOLURK GANG GOLURK SUPREMACY!!!!!!
I always felt like golurk was a pokemon that needed a mega. Not to make it any better, but because of it's pokedex entries. two of them mention great power with the seal on its chest "When the seal on its chest is removed, it rages indiscriminately, turning the whole town around it into a mountain of rubble.
" and "It flies across the sky at Mach speeds. Removing the seal on its chest makes its internal energy go out of control.
"
I've seen many artworks where this is used for inspiration but I think it needs to happen in the games
i agree. Heck, one of Golurk's basis is a giant mecha, that is a logical step
Maybe not a mega but a new form, but yeah either way I agree
I love how this thing can fly
I forget where but they've given us Lore before that if the Seal on Golurk's Chest is broken the Wrathful Spirit inside it's shell will be release and go on a Horrifying Rampage, that's a Perfect Basis for a Mega/Gigantamax/Regional Variant if I've ever heard one...

Golurk is one of my favorite pokemon. It was recently a star in a new Pokemon Journeys episode. When Ash and Gou visit Unova.
Glad this amazing pokemon is getting some love.
Yanmega can't fly but Golurk sure can.
Edit: 7:15 Rip my fellow Garbodor.
I think that was the cousin of a Haunter I know. Ever since that day, she felt death inside.
I had a Golurk on my team in swsh with phantom force, hammer arm, fire blitz, and I cannot remember the last but I sweeped the swsh elite four tournament thing at the end with as little death because I had built a monster named Talos. He was my little skrugly scrimbo and Leon wasn't ready. Nobody was.
To me it looks much more like a golem than some kind of mechanical robot.
"Imagine a flying robot wearing a scarf"
Finally, my boy Golurk has its video
Yeay
Woohoo!

Awesome that it's gotten better.
Hate on Gen 8 all you want, but you can't deny that removing Megas and Z-Moves is a blessing for certain Pokemon like Golurk.

Why stop there, removing pokemon from the game is a blessing for certain pokemon.
Now all they have to do is remove the worst gimmick

Maybe 100/ 90/90
I dont really play competitively... but I always try to have it in my team because of the memories I have with it. I've always run it with bulk investment, iron fist, shadow punch, drain punch, high horsepower, and earthquake, with big root. I have high horsepower for raids exclusively, and with some bulk investment I've had my golurk live a night daze and instantly KO a hiding zoroark (that I was going to hit with a fighting type move anyway). I am going to try it on a trick room team set by my galar slowbro and shielded by my abomasnow's aurora veil
This mon can fly. This mon can fly.
he can!!! his hands and legs tuck into his body, and form ports! these ports act as thrusters and enable it to fly!
You will believe a mon can fly.
I absolutely love Golurk. It's always in my team.
Honestly should have been Steel/Ghost with higher defense stats.
He's made of clay and as seen by the crack in his chest, pretty brittle for pokemon standards, so it makes sense why he is ground type with middling defenses
@@ashenamber2305 you're right, but they also gave him the ability Iron Fist on top of the Iron Giant reference. So either way would make sense.
@@atmassylphen6785 I would say if a not-at-all-metal Charmander can learn Iron Tail, then a ground-type golem using Iron Fist makes sense without itself being steel-type. :P
@@atmassylphen6785 Iron Fist is on plenty of Pokémon that are nowhere near Steel-type, like Conkeldurr.
thats a valid opinion, though if there was ever a dif form, i think that would be good. Golurk's ground typing points to a more traditional type of spiritual golem made of rocks, so , ground!
Its amazing how this channel's videos consistently have more views almost as many views as it does subscribers. Not sure too many channels have still much consistency
imagine if golurk got an evolution that shows that it looks like without that seal
and imagine golurk with eviolite
The seal being renoved actually hurts it.
Too much power
that would be a cool idea for a mega evolution though! similar to tyranitar’s mega, the power inside has escaped because of mega energy. removing its seal causes it to go out of control, but similar to tyranitar, the trainer’s bond would help keep it in check!
@@CoolGuy-yk9kd sounds cool, what would its stats and ability would be?
i think it would be something like 89/150/94/25/90/125
Ghost/Fighting
No Guard
this thing would be a monster with Dynamic Punch, Poltergeist, Stone Edge and EQ, only megas, buzzwole and zygarde wall it
@@blaster.m1943 interesting typing, it loses ground STAB for fighting. to compliment this new typing, you could give it a mega-exclusive ability; ancient fist (iron fist but better, maybe a 40-50% as opposed to 20% boost), or just stick with no guard. however i think that the loss of ground type would hurt it and not make sense in terms of the actual evolution. i dont think that stab dynamic punch is absolutely necessary with the attack stat. i agree with most of the stats you chose, and it looks like you did the 118% boost to get it from 483 to roughly 573. the speed makes sense given it flies at mach speeds, the attack makes sense since it is probably now totally unhinged, but shouldn't it be a bit bulkier? base 100 def at least, maybe give it no special attack lol. overall really agreeable, i can tell you thought this through. do you agree with just keeping it a ground type? what else do you suggest an ability could be?
Other Ghost types: spoopy ghost who do absolutely cruel things to their victims
