Misdreavus is in my top 10 favorite Pokemon. Seeing Flutter Mane for the first time was already cool enough, and then they made it overpowered on top of that and I love it!
As someone who has Misdreavus as one of their top favorites of all time and whose favorite types are ghost followed by fairy, I see Flutter Mane as a 10/10 Pokémon in every metric imaginable.
It won’t change much, very few dark types want to eat Mystic fire/Thunderbolt/Moon blast/shadowball or Make it rain/shadow ball/Focus blast respectively. You need fucking Kingambit typing and super bulk to even stand a chance at switching in, meanwhile mons like Tyrannitar or weavile get absolutely demolished on switch in.
I hate how bafflingly broken they made this thing. I just wanted a ghost fairy misdrevous with levitate and decent but regular stats, instead they gave every paradox mon the same ability and gave it legendary stats. God I hate the game design team.

Comfortably lol, level 50 252 Timid Deo-S hits 255 speed, Timid 252 FM w/Booster Energy hits 307. Even Modest outspeeds but then you have to use lower spattk
Mystical Fire for Steels Psyshock for Poison types (and Special Walls) Power Gem for Fire types Energy Ball and Thunderbolt for bulky Water types Icy Wind for Speed control And that’s without considering Taunt, Trick Room, Perish Song, Calm Mind, Substitute, Thunder Wave, or Sunny Day. Aside from Physical bulk, the main thing holding it back is four moveslot syndrome. The most common set is Moonblast, Dazzling Gleam, Shadow Ball, and Protect - running none of the coverage or support options I listed.
5:25 this is really crucial to understanding why pokemon designs are so frustrating these days. if i were to try and say "old gen pokemon were way more versatile, new gen pokemon are one dimensional and boring" ppl would just say "UMMMM actually no it has loads of options", and completely miss the point that every single option it has is chosen specifically to make it's one job easier to do or to deny counterplay. modern pokemon get given busted stats, overtuned abilities and great offensive typings for dual stab, then just to make sure you suffer gamefreak will make sure they have coverage to hit every switch in (like how urshifu dark gets poison jab to nail fairies), and a way to beat any response like how palafin and annihalape both got taunt to deny haze, wisp, etc while they bulked up in your face before they got banned in singles. classic mons were deliberately given limitations to force you to build them creatively, whereas modern mons are designed to be perfect. if gamefreak released an emerald remake today they would give slaking explosion and extreme speed, then replace truant with scrappy
Giving mons moves that can counter their weaknesses isn't anything new and has been around for a while just look at: 1. How many Fire types get Solarbeam 2. How many Psychic and Ghost types get Focus Blast and/or Dazzling Gleam 3. How many Dragon, Dark and Fighting types get some type of Steel or Poison type move to counter Fairy types 4. How many Fighting types get access to Thunderpunch and Ice Punch which counter Flying types a. Hell the Timbur line learns Rock type moves BY LEVEL UP (Rock Throw, Rock Slide) b. Also Sky Uppercut can hit Pokémon that are in the air from Fly, Bounce or Sky Drop 5. How many Rock types get Earthquake for Steel types 6. Superpower used to have a very wide distribution through Move Tutors, and that covered for a good number of mons weaknesses. 7. Hidden Power was the ultimate weakness covering move prior to being gutted to Unkown's signature move. Then you get bizarre cases like Slowking who can learn Fire Blast or Magmortar who can learn Thunderbolt for example. This isn't a new trend, this has been going on since gen3 when movepools started to widen, heck Gen1 Normal types (and even later gen ones) have what can only be described as comically large movepools. However you are correct that the newer mons are much more min-maxed than previous ones, so this additional stuff tends to be more of a problem, Regieleki wasn't that bad because of it's lackluster movepool despite being min-maxed to hell, however Terra broke it because that poor coverage was no longer an issue.
>they would give slaking explosion and extreme speed, then replace truant with scrappy that or give the mf huge power 252+ Atk Huge Power Slaking Explosion vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Aggron: 244-288 (86.8 - 102.4%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO Slaking has adamant Nature and Aggron has Relaxed have fun!
@@AceAviations2 those are valid points, but i was more talking about the real classics like gen 1-3, these problems started in gen 4 it was just very minor back then, and a lot of the stuff you mentioned is either niche or from gen 4/5 onwards, or doesn't take pre physical special split into account (like the fighting type example, thunder punch or ice punch were special moves). regardless of all that, yes pokemon back then had coverage i wasn't tryna dispute that, what im saying is that none of them were perfect. rock types got EQ, but without stab it wouldn't hit that hard, and they got hard walled by levitate users or checked by skarmory. and hidden power was great, but pre gen 4 many mons had to use it for stab, it was low BP, and you were limited by the physical special split in which types were viable. pre gen 4, pokemon barely differentiated between their main/stab moves or their coverage moves, they regularly didn't use one or both of their stab types, or got forced to run mixed sets to get the coverage they need. gen 4 was when things started getting more streamlined, and from then to now pokemon design has gotten very monotonous. defensive pokemon get powerful defensive moves and abilities, offensive pokemon get an ability that boosts their damage, great dual stab types, whatever perfect coverage they need and a powerful boosting move to win on the spot. if you played gen 3 ou rn, you could build a team with wish support salamence and calm mind boltbeam blissey, if you play gen 9 rn you can use blissey to set up rocks and wall things, and in the ru tier (💀) you can use a dragon dance salamence with two stab moves and EQ
I think the problem is partially the fairy type itself, partially Moonblast as a move, partially the dual typing of Fairy/Ghost, partially the insanely high speed and special attack, partially the fact that it's low bulk can be invested in because it's so naturally threatening, partially that it gets even stronger in the sun, partially that it can hold any number of various items for even more destruction...
You forgot about the fact it can imprison and trick room so it can even be played backward to totally flip the game on it's head because it clearly didn't have enough options lol
the absense of scrappy fake-out users such as pre-mega mega kanga and mega lopunny as well as the fact that there is currently no good STAB bullet punch user in the meta (metagross maybe, but its not that great) both exascerbate the issues. And with both farigiraf AND psychic terrain being viable as well as regulation G dropping soon, Flutter Mane stonks have been better than ever. But hey, at least it doesn't hit through protect...
The problem is more so the meta game. The VGC meta game leans towards the physical side a lot, so having something as strong as Fluttermane just means the slot for SpA mons on your teams gets cannibalized.
It’s also that Flutter Mane is a necessity on some teams. The most popular core right now is the Fire Water Grass balance core, and that core gets ruined by dragon types like Regidrago and Raging Bolt. As such, you need a Pokémon that can both reliably switch in and threaten those dragons, and because the tapus aren’t in the game, the only real option is either some off meta pick like Sylveon, or the reliable Flutter Mane.
Moxie, my client Flutter Mane wishes to sue for defamation. Cause all of these crimes you're accusing them for are not the fault. They were just feeling a little silly.
I was a Mismagius fan, but now im a Torkoal Sun Boosted Protosynthesis, Choice Specs, 255+ SpAtk, Tera Fairy Moonblast Flutter Mane ( i sort of regret buying violet first )

Flutter needs it.
so yeah, this thing its Mega Mismaggius with the doppest and snorked crack line stats ever made
Misdreavus is in my top 10 favorite Pokemon.
Can i just point out, xerndon was already an insane core, and now it has the literal best mon they could EVER want
'Hoppip isn't coming back bro, he's gone' Nooooooo not Hoppip, he was best man at my wedding :(
Misdreavus has been my favorite Ghost since Gen 2, so I'm fine with it being busted.
We’re lucky flutter mane didin’t get the roaring moon treatment and had 590 bst
does the BST even matter when flutter mane can kill roaring moon
Fluttermane and Goldengo are big reasons why I think Pursuit needs to be added back to the game, just not to Kinggambit.
What dark type you think isnt switching out immediately after catching a whiff of that thing
You think FLUTTER MANE is afraid of Pursuit?
Flutter ain't the one who needs to switch out my man
Flutter mane is like letting a kid drive a car you know it’s going to end badly.
Moxie hates Flutter Mane so much they made an entire 8 minute video explaining why they hate it so much piece by piece. I love it
I hate how bafflingly broken they made this thing. I just wanted a ghost fairy misdrevous with levitate and decent but regular stats, instead they gave every paradox mon the same ability and gave it legendary stats. God I hate the game design team.
You and me alike, really.
@@Abigdummy4life Never thought I'd find another.
Truly one of the balanced spreads of all time
Whoever edited this video and chose all these Follin brothers tracks (Pictionary title screen, Plok beach) is so based
ok but now misdreavus is actually good
Misdreavus and Mismagius are still cack, this thing is a merely an unnatural perversion
The editing at the prefixes part has me hollering LOL
The person in charge of balancing must have been on crack when making flutter mane
The edition in the video is so entertainment and cool!!!
Great editor and video from Moxie
I don't know how anyone could enjoy VGC or Singles anymore. The power creep has completely ruined playing battles in any format for me 😭
Don't play OU. The lower tiers like UU are way better now.
This is why we need Megas back to balance this ish
“Utility belt like Batman’s”
Imagine commuting a crime and you see Batman walking up to you with a focus sash belt, choice specs, pixie plate, and a flask of booster energy and he’s just, *ready to prefix you*
"Prefixes are power" is so true.
My friend and I were struggling with a raid earlier, 6 star flying sinistcha. Then I remembered... Oh yeah we both have Miraidon.
(135 base special attack + 100 base power) × 1.3 electric terrain × 1.3 hadron engine × 2 for being super effective × 1.5 for STAB × 1.3 for Electro Drift's boosted damage on superwffective hits
I have a fun idea that probably will create more problems but at least will deal with Flutter Mane:
Legalize mythicals to use deoxys and deal with it. ☠️
I’m pretty sure Speed Booster flutter mane outspeeds Deoxys S.
Comfortably lol, level 50 252 Timid Deo-S hits 255 speed, Timid 252 FM w/Booster Energy hits 307. Even Modest outspeeds but then you have to use lower spattk
@@itztaytay2You know your game isn't balanced in the slightest when the 2nd fastest mon gets outspeed by a mon with 45 less base speed.
@@dse763 by 52 points
Speed boosted Flutter Mane even outspeeds Regieleki now
Mystical Fire for Steels
Psyshock for Poison types (and Special Walls)
Power Gem for Fire types
Energy Ball and Thunderbolt for bulky Water types
Icy Wind for Speed control
And that’s without considering Taunt, Trick Room, Perish Song, Calm Mind, Substitute, Thunder Wave, or Sunny Day.
Giving mons moves that can counter their weaknesses isn't anything new and has been around for a while just look at:
1. How many Fire types get Solarbeam
2. How many Psychic and Ghost types get Focus Blast and/or Dazzling Gleam
3. How many Dragon, Dark and Fighting types get some type of Steel or Poison type move to counter Fairy types
4. How many Fighting types get access to Thunderpunch and Ice Punch which counter Flying types
a. Hell the Timbur line learns Rock type moves BY LEVEL UP (Rock Throw, Rock Slide)
b. Also Sky Uppercut can hit Pokémon that are in the air from Fly, Bounce or Sky Drop
5. How many Rock types get Earthquake for Steel types
However you are correct that the newer mons are much more min-maxed than previous ones, so this additional stuff tends to be more of a problem, Regieleki wasn't that bad because of it's lackluster movepool despite being min-maxed to hell, however Terra broke it because that poor coverage was no longer an issue.
>they would give slaking explosion and extreme speed, then replace truant with scrappy
that or give the mf huge power
252+ Atk Huge Power Slaking Explosion vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Aggron: 244-288 (86.8 - 102.4%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
Slaking has adamant Nature and Aggron has Relaxed
have fun!

@@aldrichunfaithful3589*oh god I forgot about that, that sounds like a nightmare this would be one pain of a slaking*
0:06 attack left the chat
It’s a special attacker, it doesn’t need an attack stat more than 1
the absense of scrappy fake-out users such as pre-mega mega kanga and mega lopunny as well as the fact that there is currently no good STAB bullet punch user in the meta (metagross maybe, but its not that great) both exascerbate the issues. And with both farigiraf AND psychic terrain being viable as well as regulation G dropping soon, Flutter Mane stonks have been better than ever.
But hey, at least it doesn't hit through protect...
Look at that smug grin it has. It knows how powerful it is.
2:24
That's 21 events in ONE YEAR.
So basically long story short, let’s pull a zacian crowned again
Zacian if it wasn't a restricted legendary
Technician scizor is pissed off kicking rocks over by the bench
I can't wait for it's counterpart, the 135 HP/Atk/Def and 55 SpAtk/SpDef/Speed
only real moxie fans saw this yesterday at buffalo wild wings
Imagine if Flutter mane had toes, I wonder what it would be called
Its basically a Mega Mismagius with none of the restrictions Mega Pokemon generally have.
i've been saying, prothosynthesis speed boost should've been 30% like the other stats
I used it at first because I liked the design. Then I realized how powerful it truly is.
Moxie, my client Flutter Mane wishes to sue for defamation. Cause all of these crimes you're accusing them for are not the fault. They were just feeling a little silly.
I was a Mismagius fan, but now im a Torkoal Sun Boosted Protosynthesis, Choice Specs, 255+ SpAtk, Tera Fairy Moonblast Flutter Mane ( i sort of regret buying violet first )
It's the same problem as Kartana and Chien-Pao: a pokemon so good they outclass everything else but they also are their own worst enemy
"Hoppip isn't coming back bro, he's gone"😂
I was not expecting the NBA analogies in a competitive pokemon video. Seeing those two together is surreal
i wanna mention its typing. it saw mimikyu and went,”lemme cook”
I just hated Mimikyu because of its typing and busted ability ... until I realized it has only 476 BST.
@@dse763 it could’ve been a ultra sun & ultra moon menace, but it sadly isnt
The video is amazing and all, Flutter Mane is a really funny joke, but I gotta say using Tim Follin music is a power move on itself. Props to the GOAT editor once again
There’s a reason my flutter is almost always called Goober or War Criminal on smogon teams
Gen8-9 doesn't just show low quality in their engine, framerate and graphics.
The last few games had these terribly broken pokemon and VGC lacking any proper competitive rulesets and tiers speaks volumes of how incompetent Nintendo-GameFreak are at managing and developing this frenchise.
You know the video is good when it has Tim Follin's Pictionary theme in the intro
Dude I was literally thinking about you uploading, and you came through!
"Oddish isn't coming back bro" 💀💀 had me cackling
The problem with fluttermane. Nothing. That’s the problem. They forgot to give this pokemon weaknesses.
We must be grateful to flutter mane! It is a past form of Misdravus. I dont even want to imagine if it were a past form of Mismagius
Flutter mane is my flutter bane of existence when playing showdown 😔
The spiky scaley dinosaur version of Misdreavus gaining the Fairy type of all types really goes to show where GF's priorities were when making this pokemon
