Best thing to convert rust is phosphoric acid. Metal prep or concrete etch, pick your poison. Turns it into crude parkerizing, like grandads 1911 from the war. Wouldn’t go back over it with rubber, oil is better. But you could throw some black tractor paint on converted rust without too many issues down the line. Trust me on rust, I live in Illinois 😂

Chiming in from the rust belt of jersey here. Can confirm what he said. Concrete etch and some fluid film or used motor oil works great. U can do further prep/paint or powder coat if desired. But I just use fluid film

Hey Sam, I didn't know that you numbered your buddies. The guy buying the flat bed is a buddy numbered in the single digits. I'm a buddy in the 60,000s. I laughed when you said you had the presure sprayer in destruction mode. The oil pan might be a aftermarket that was made with recycled steel. Tomorrow in Ottawa Ontario the temperature will be minus 10F. My 3500 5.9 Cummins has the plain black factory wheels which I like so think the rims you put on are good but the tires are not. I would want some aggressive mud/snow tires on a 4x4 Dodge with a gas engine for very cold starts. My favorite videos of yours are when you do a truck overhaul. I like the quality and reliability you add to the trucks.

Nice project. I just did the same seat repair on my 2nd gen. I agree, the more clean and stock you make a truck the more value it has...in my book anyway.

The tires and wheels are ok. The truck is looking good I used to work at a dealership. All the money we found in the vehicles would be cleaned and divided between the porters (aka) lot attendant. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.

On the seat, remove the 4 springs in the bottom, pull that top bar off and re-attach all those crossmember wire things, sit the bar back into place with all attached, then pull the springs on the bottom to latch back. Easier to tear down and put it together than putting together all under tension by tapping it while putting all those things back on.

I'm an electrician so I use my Milwaukee stuff daily. I run them till they die then put them on the charger. I've heard people complain about them but my first Milwaukee original series is still in use. I have 7 year old batteries still working. Not sure if short charging them kills them or what?

Glad to see you keep chugging along with the videos. I speak for myself but the truck stuff is what originally brought me here. I’m a old (38) Wyoming boy who loves some diesel truck content. First diesel was an 02 dodge 24v HO with a six speed. Bought it from my dad in 2010 with 60k on it. Like an idiot I traded it in at 100k and got $7k for it 🤦‍♂️. Anyway keep it up!

Happy Birthday Sam!! Mine's next month. About 5-6 years ago I was using my new 'yellow' drill/driver and the motor sounded like it had a box of rocks for bearings, worse than the one it replaced!! Enough, I'd had it. I got rid of all the yellow, red and blue ones. After a bunch of research, I bought new BOSCH everything! I'm so happy I did! They have more power, the motors run smoother, controllers work better and the batteries are better. I even have 4 new 12v ones for my guitar shop!! Your mileage may vary, but they worked great for me!! Sorry for the rant, touchy subject for awhile. LOL 8) --gary

Happy Birthday my birthday is the 5th. I use a small steam cleaner to get stains out of carpet. I buy Rigid tools the tools batteries are warrantied for life. Rigid has replaced one battery and put new motor in one drill so far. Ive had other cordless tools 2) dewalt drills 1) Dewalt circular saw, 1) Dewalt reciprocating saw. 1) Makita 9volt drill and 1) Panasonic 12volt drill. The Panasonic and the Makita drills are still good but the batteries are shot. the gears are stripped in one of the Dewalt drills. I still use the Dewalt reciprocating saw but out of 4 batteries I have two are still ok. So for me the lifetime warranty is important.

See DeBoss Garage on that subject.
Good job ditching the extension on the impact. Acts like a torsion bar and decreases the impact of the impact.
