    Man I just bought a 93 D250 and I dont understand how people hack these things up so bad. I appreciate your approach and I agree if I am going to be daily using it for dump runs and work it doesnt have to be show work but what you did with that truck was solid and good work. If you ever take work from Texas I may have to bring mine over to you at some point for body work.

    I'd love to be able to do what you do with these trucks. Return them to the farm where they can continue to serve like they did new. Just needs your signature Black Patch TrailFX cow pusher and she's ready. Love the silver too that came out frickin sweet

    Sam, I have a well educated theory. The 'death wobble' you were experiencing, I'm fairly certain it's the weak leaf springs. I noticed at 37:03. That's probably why the steering bracket/frame fractured. Just saying. I've had the same problem on two semis .
    Greetings from the UK

    • @richardbates2367
      @richardbates2367 5 месяцев назад

      That actually makes sense because the weight of the front axle and the brakes and hub Adapters and the wheels and tires and the heavy Cummins diesel engine...is directly on the springs on both the top and bottom of the frame so it's getting pushed against both ways so the weak springs can wreak some serious havoc on the entire front end of the truck.

    Looks like an awesome job well done. Not criticism as I am not anything remotely like an expert, but I would have put some additional steel plates where possible on the frame and parts so those cracks could never reoccur. I tend to really over repair things like those cracks as I would think that the original design was a little weaker than it should have been.

    My 2000 dodge ram the clear coat on the roof is a thing of the past and the paint has been baked and oxidized for probably 15 years before I got the truck so the paint looks like crap on my truck anyway,, and the hood is also loosing most of it's clear coat and even paint in some spots and when the previous owners haphazardly flat black spraybombed the red front doors and the replacement chrome front straight bumper on the monochromatic trim truck so it got sprayed black as well so there's over spray and touch up spots all over the truck...

    • @VBELTandSON
      @VBELTandSON  4 месяца назад +1

      How did that turn out?

    • @erwin643
      @erwin643 4 месяца назад

      @@VBELTandSON So far, so good. I've used JB Weld as a small-area body filler (for holes and other small dents and imperfections) for years. However, I've noticed some minor pitting in my JB Weld/primer/paint layers, above the windshield (Rock chips?). The holes in the metal that I JB welded were only a few millimeters in diameter. I also used it along the seam, which seemed to work just fine, so far.
      Also, I noticed in your 1st Gen restoration that you left those holes in the body. When I restored the body on my 1990, I used nylon screen window material (Probably should have used regular autobody fiberglass cloth?) as a backing and filled-in the holes with JB Weld, then sanded it smooth. That was over a decade ago, and no problems since.
