I actually work at Vestergaard Company that builds these ground support equipments, and have been doing so for the last 15 years. Great fun to see this old guy. Vestergaard Company has grown a lot since this unit was produced. If you need any kind of support for the unit, or even want to visit the Vestergaard factory in Roskilde, Denmark, just let me know, and i will gladly give you a tour :)
I build that truck in the 90's as an apprentice at Vestergaard. Funny to see that again and thank god, we don't have smell television. The outlet from that unit does stink. 😊
The editing and video shots are very clever, which is why it's nice to see videos up to three or even more hours long. I love the context... Can't wait for the next one. Plus, thanks for not adding horrible music in the background, it helps a lot.
Your editing is "simple" yet so concise and well rounded to convey enough message without making any part boring. What I mean by simple is not putting any distracting music on but just having authentic engine sounds etc. The amount of camera angles is amazing. Fantastic video
Top notch production. You really put in the effort to show everything. Magical camera teleporting to every which angle inside and outside. Looks sort of professional. Like a documentary.
I thought the same 😄 It seems it has just over 10K km so it hasn't been driven outside of the airport. Surprised that it has no rust. I guess salt is not used on the tarmac or the runway.
Disagree, at some point in this wagon's long life, some curious souls have tried racing the fuel truck down the runway. For example I know the Volvo fl4 avgas lorry at Sandtoft airfield isn't as fast as their scammell s26 jet A lorry.
You should keep the pressure pump stuff from the de-icing system, so you can use it to pressure wash your house, roof, big trucks and excavators etc. Maybe even keep the tanks, so you could fill with soap/water to clean stuff in remote areas/away from running water, if that is something you'll ever need.
Great episode. Couple safety suggestions from a retired lift operator. Get an emergency bucket escape kit and some planks for under your out riggers. 😊
Watching the transplant of those panel buttons was so awesome. I love how you balance how messy or accurate you have to be for each task. Compare that to installing the extra fuel lines in the tank LOL Such a different approach
I love how this guys solves everyday problems with everyday tools... like using a Volvo L90C to swap your Volvo FH12 bed without getting stuck in the snow. Easy! 😁
not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but if you're not then i wouldnt really call these "everyday problems" and neither are his tools "everyday tools" lol.
You need to use some ground pads under those lift cylinders to prevent flipping over in soft soils. Those pads are only designed for thick concrete surfaces. Thin concrete surfaces will also punch through.
What a versatile man, in the control room from the airport and troubleshooting outside.. No job is too much for this man, even privately made a lift for working at height.. bravo bravo👍
duuuude! this channel is so awesome...the production value, the camera work...can't believe it's (mostly) just one determined guy! can't put words on how awesome this is!
Great video. All the way from the beginning to the end. Like that there is no annoying music, no long interviews with your self and good narrating over the video instead. Subscribed and liked ;-)
Those used airport equipments are good base for your projects, you have vision and knowledge to give them a new life and you get good machines. Good job 👍👍👍
Awesome video! An excellent way to spend the evening 😁 I love how meticulously you do everything, and how well you keep all your equipment in top condition. This truck is like a time capsule, it indeed looks like new! 👍 Greetings from the Netherlands 🙂
Another excellent video, my friend. Your fabrication and engineering skills are outstanding... as they are on all your videos. Thank you for taking the time to bring us all along for the ride, setting the cameras up, your detailed commentary and the time it takes you to edit and compile the videos. I'm sure I speak for us all with how much we appreciate your efforts. Thanks M. Bjoernstroem! Paul - UK
Your broad range of skills across a wide area of spheres is impressive. You should definitely do a Q&A at some point to fill us in on your stories of acquiring them.
finally the release, how long have we been waiting for it! You are the best specialist in every case you undertake Keep up the good work But I would like more often and more videos, but of course watch this when possible! Good luck!
Thanks for sharing! I love watching your videos, and you put a lot of effort into the production. It's very well done. I'm looking forward to seeing the garage :)
Here's an idea... Regarding the thoughts around adding in some external ignition controls. Maybe get one of those keyfob remote controlled relays. And hook the ignition to that. Saves wiring up another system, and keeps it simple.
I helped my friend build a pair of those engine with compound super-turbochargers for his boat…. The marine version is the ad41 in various iterations of injector nozzle/smokiness…. Great engine
The limit switches are there to prevent you booming out too far and risk platform becoming unstable and liable to tipping over. It was not uncommon for drivers at the company I was at to spend time rebuilding switches that had failed rather than replacing them as we were too far from the workshop. We also had 'emergency' procedure to join wires across the control panel to allow the legs to be stowed if the boom didnt report it was stowed properly, because of another failed switch we could not access. I would also reccomend you fit some 'spreader boards' to the feet. We had to stow them in the truck each use because on our trucks the legs moved away from the body, ie H frame, or A frame legs. Yours just go straight down, so you could fit larger boards to spread the weight of the feet on them for more stability in uneven or softer ground.
Thanks very much for sharing your experience.I am really surprised to see your confidence and knowledge in mechanical, electrical and automotive. I wish and pray for your long, healthy and successful future. God Bless.
Love the content, and the interesting way you get round problems, and making it better for your self. Look forward to more interesting builds, both buildings and vehicles.
Awesome purchase and conversion, I’m pleased the electrics lined up so well and that was a great idea to place the switches the way you did otherwise you’d have control boxes all over the place. Mate, I just don’t know how you can survive in such cold weather, shit I think I’d have to drink antifreeze to keep my blood circulating and I’ll be darned if I know how you can drive along a road without slipping off. I guess you just get used to it. Anyway, top notch video, well done
Volvo vehicles have a long-standing reputation for durability, and their engines are some of the best that can last for years beyond their expected life.
I love people who affirm what they are by putting the flag of their country on the top of a mast. Being French, for us at the moment, it's not easy. In any case, congratulations for your ingenuity in the transformation of this "nacelle".
That looked like a great deal and price for the truck. Even considering what it was used for it was definitely well taken care of and fairly clean. Always enjoy watching you complete your projects.
Nice, i work for volvo truck in the uk. Absolutely have a soft spot for the older FL series, we mainly had the FL6’s and the mini urban artics, which were FL4’s with a semi trailer hitch, so cute. Think i did my first services on a FL. None of the modern complicated rubbish
7:50 gotta appreciate shots like this. He must have set up the camera, drove through the intersection, did a u-turn somewhere with and then took down the camera. Or he used a drone, pulled over and let the drone fly over to the truck.
Great work on giving new life to these two vehicles. I think you should have removed the diesel tank when cutting the holes for the new pickup. That way you could have cleaned the inside from metal shavings. It is also good practice to coat the contacting surfaces with door vax, when attaching new stuff to the frame, this is a place where capillary forces suck water in between the metal pieces, and rust likes to form.
You should keep the de-icing system to use as a pressure washer for cleaning house roofs etc. really nice build btw! Super interesting project. Love that you reuse some really well built equipment.
I'm convinced he lives in a town with a population of 1
You're not too off 😅
more than his video comment section is hilarious
atleast theres 2 with the neighbour with the wheel loader...dont think he lives in an another town.
He lives in Kiruna he did drive by Esrange so Kiruna
@rayantouati4259he definitely lives in Pajala. Never heard of the place and now it looks like a nice Christmas town for a visit!

I love this, this is so wholesome. Great to see.
Making a video during the factory tour would be great. If your company allows it. 😅
how did you come across this video? just by chance?
This is thousand times better then watching any show on tv! Thank you for sharing it looks like a real nice machine now!
Agreed. I haven't turned on broadcast TV for years.
"about minus niner", spoken like a true air traffic controller. Glad to see you again.

Looks like you're not the only one

Me too
Same here...
12:30 and still watching 👍🏴

Nice to see your Swedish flag in the breeze; great video lots of clever work arounds.
The shot at 8:00 is crazy good
Probably the first time it ever went anywhere near 100 (60) in its entire life. lol Thanks for the video!
I thought the same 😄
It seems it has just over 10K km so it hasn't been driven outside of the airport. Surprised that it has no rust. I guess salt is not used on the tarmac or the runway.
This far north, temperatures are regularly so low, that salt doesn’t do anything any more. So I assume, that this is the reason.
Nice little "Swedish tune-up"
Disagree, at some point in this wagon's long life, some curious souls have tried racing the fuel truck down the runway.
For example I know the Volvo fl4 avgas lorry at Sandtoft airfield isn't as fast as their scammell s26 jet A lorry.
@Frank-Thoresen Because airplanes are made of aluminium, they don't use salt at airports.. salt will destroy an airplane..
You should keep the pressure pump stuff from the de-icing system, so you can use it to pressure wash your house, roof, big trucks and excavators etc. Maybe even keep the tanks, so you could fill with soap/water to clean stuff in remote areas/away from running water, if that is something you'll ever need.
Was thinking the exact same thing 😂😅
That’s a good ideia.
Great episode. Couple safety suggestions from a retired lift operator. Get an emergency bucket escape kit and some planks for under your out riggers. 😊
7:45 bro is now a Hollywood cinematographer. this shot is amazing
yeah how did he do that? is that public traffic cam?
@@thomasslynch1I assume he had his drone

Ye, we waiting on the video about which auction he scored that L90C :D
Ah, it was his neighbour, naturally.

This is the true definition of “JACK OF ALL TRADES”❤
I watched two movies and this video this evening. This video was better than both movies put together. So awesome.
You need to use some ground pads under those lift cylinders to prevent flipping over in soft soils. Those pads are only designed for thick concrete surfaces.
Thin concrete surfaces will also punch through.
I don't think it matters much when you're in Sweden in winter; the frozen ground counts as a thick concrete slab too.
I came to say the same. During spring, summer and fall the soil is soft and wide pads under the hydraulic jacks are an insurance against an accident
What a versatile man, in the control room from the airport and troubleshooting outside.. No job is too much for this man, even privately made a lift for working at height.. bravo bravo👍
Seeing the Volvo all cleaned up was genuinely cathartic.
After no videos for 2 months, looks like it was worth the wait lol :D
Indeed. I was wondering if he was well. I am glad to see another video from him.

The way you do all of this stuff on your own is impressive, to say the least. There are, like you, few men left yet.
Those used airport equipments are good base for your projects, you have vision and knowledge to give them a new life and you get good machines. Good job 👍👍👍
This guy invested his skill points into literally everything
Once you start watching, there's no going back. Great video!
There actually is a going back - but it's back to the person you were before watching the video - and you go wanna go there.
Awesome video! An excellent way to spend the evening 😁
I love how meticulously you do everything, and how well you keep all your equipment in top condition.

no idea why but i watched the entire video, amount of tools and skill put into each step - incrediible

The limit switches are there to prevent you booming out too far and risk platform becoming unstable and liable to tipping over.
