That delvac is actually what Mercedes recommends for the G56 if I remember right. My son and I did a G56 swap on his 2015 a year ago. Even got the Manual Tune from RaceMe so the truck doesn't even remember ever having a 68RFE under it. Looking forward to this one!
I use to think Royal Purple was hype, but for a while I've been contracting in a refinery that owns Royal Purple. I service all their rotating equipment and use various grades of RP Synfilm in over 750 pumps, gear boxes and seal pots. I've seen it hold up in some pretty insane environments...I'm very impressed with it.
Very cool Sam!! Nice find!! It looks like Boone approves too!! LOL It sounded like he rolled that truck hard. I've had 4X4's all my life in the NE. They are a hand full at speed on hard pack! If it doesn't have the 15% slip in the center, I use 2WD unless absolutely necessary! With all 4 locked it will swap ends by just letting off the throttle! Not good!! Looking forward to the rest of the build, nice job!! 8) --gary
Rear shaft on gas motors had one and diesels had a 2 piece but I had East Texas Dodge drive shafts made a one piece 5” alum drive shaft after changing 3 carrier bearings and no vibrations. 800 bucks for that boy and they front shafts too.
07+ had the 1 piece shaft, but that one looks like a custom built shaft. Mopar shaft shrinks to a smaller size on the tube at the ends. Now I want a g56 in something!
@@dkfunbuns I don’t live in a severely cold climate but it gets down to single digits in the winter sometimes. Never have a problem going through gears. Used 8 quarts. Only thing I’ve noticed is there’s a little more resistance when downshifting.
Sam, I'm like you grease on all the moving parts. Not as much as you on the splined shaft though, because, it will attract clutch dust and clog it up Greetings from the UK
Ive had people refer to my 2000 dodge ram was a no power magnum gas guzzling 318 gutless wonder expensive truck wannabe because it is a laramie slt with almost none of those options for the 2000 model year and it's rusted out junk for 210k miles and i still say for a truck around the rust belt and it still has its floor pans frame and the original bed in really decent shape it's way better than most of the trucks you'll run across... but $1,500 that i gave for it wouldn't buy it and I had two that offered me $125 for the rear axle and transmission, and another that offered me $375 for the whole truck if i can prove the clean title and it ran and carried decent oil pressure..
I'm actually converting my 2007 dodge ram 2500 from a 48RE to NV5600. I can not wait to have the manual in my truck.

I think bud light is the cheapest tranny fluid to flush with right now.
😂😂😂😂
Thanks for letting us go along on the swap. Trying to be patient finding a G56.

Nice unit Sam ! My favorite trans setup 👍🏻

Gravel driveway laying on plywood. Been their many times. Lol 😂. Old horse blankets work good too. 😬

Heck Yeah
I run Amsoil MTG 75W90 GL-4. It actually meets Mercedes-Benz specs of Mobil Delvac at MB 235.5

Royal purple is good I prefer all amsoil my self 😎👍
I’m just the opposite of Sam, I love the NV5600 in my 2/wd. I tow heavy and this transmission is the beans.
I 100% stand by the cv boot on a g56. Less cab noise and no smell
I switched from atf4 to hot shots secret g56 fluid and it made a world of difference
Do you live in a cold climate? I’ve been lookin to switch soon. Just wondering if it was hard to get in and out of gears on a cold morning?

The mega usually isn't one piece, thats probably an aftermarket. I got mine from texas driveline. $1000 shaft.
should of filled it with diesel and let it sit for a bit, diesel flushes clean the trans pretty good.
I flushed it with the purple called it good. Sat for a week or so
48re just smoked in my 06 how much does this cost to convert to a G56 so I don’t have to rebuild a junk auto every two years
ball peen hammers were made for making gaskets too.
Some more parts for jay’s collection 😬👍🏻
👌🏼
G56 FTW!👌🏻 Did you buy that trans from North Reno?
Cool!

why kinda boots u got?
Cody told me Honda Foreman cv boot
Instead of making a gasket for a trans I just put a film of grease on a it works just fine
