If the cops did get scratched, they most likely would've been fine bc maggie gets scratched later on in the show, and she was completely fine. The season was like 10 years after this episode came out, tho, so they could've just accidentally retconed it without knowing.
Yeah twd has never been exactly on top of their continuity in that department. I remember in season 5 Sasha cuts Abraham’s with an infected blade and it’s no big deal, but when the saviours do it in season 8 the smallest cut can kill
I thought it was a matter of introducing infected bodily fluids into the bloodstream. It might be a matter of how much of a viral load they contracted, though obviously it wouldn’t take much. Of course, there’s also the matter that whatever it is that makes people come back, they all already have it, so who knows? Maybe “Wildfire” started as an airborne strain that turned everyone alive into asymptomatic carriers until the point of death, then mutated into a quickly lethal variant spread by bites and scratches from infected in order to maximize its spread and chances at survival? Most viruses mutate into less-lethal strains in order to avoid killing all available hosts and “burning themselves out” though, so something like what we see on the show would likely have been deliberately engineered to be the way it is.
Some things about this episode that’s unintentionally funny to me is 1. There was a gif I saw on tumble that featured Rick getting piled on by those walkers and he’s holding an ice cream cone so now I can’t unsee it whenever I watch the ep 2. They make a point to cut their hands so walkers can be distracted by licking the blood but this is never done again
@@magmatard8737 It's a different "nonono." The one in the Punisher is "No no no no no!" as he's freaking out about his family being murdered. The one in TWD is "No-no-no, man. I know exactly where I am." Bernthals dialogue makes the "nos" all come out as if he's speaking in lower case.
I always interpreted Rick suggesting that scratches caused the police to turn as a reminder to the audience that he carries the weight of knowing that everyone is infected/able to turn without being bitten, but isn’t ready to share that knowledge yet with the group. To me the doubtful silence following eludes to Shane suspecting that Rick isn’t convinced by his explanation, or is hiding something - which he would have a good sense for after working so long as Deputies together. (Loving your show-don’t-tell type story analysis videos!)
Im glad you mentioned the fact that him knowing maggie is evidence for him knowing the location of the farm, when so many people defend this punk like he is innocent when he literally admitted to assaulting young women
My own head canon would be that as the days that passed became longer and longer due to the looming starvation and the canned goods the two cops had on hand got lesser and lesser. One of them thought, in their starved delusion, that it was okay to eat walker flesh if you cook it long enough over a strong flame as they watched the bodies they burned turn into charred remains. They easily convinced the other cop of their plan and together they captured and cooked pieces of a fresh-looking walker for dinner or lunch. Their stomachs were finally filled and they were content. Not knowing they wouldn't make it to the next day as the infection took over their bodies overnight. Resulting in their relatively clean clothes and unharmed bodies.
@@longhornjeff8584 Robert Kirkman confirmed that the "tainted meat" they ate wasn't going to harm them in any way And even if it was tainted, they wouldn't have died, as in Season 10 Alexandria's water is contaminated with walker blood, and the residents only get sick, but none of them die
I think all the trash bags out side indicate that they ran out of supply's and potentially started drinking unsanitary water. Alternatively though, it could have definitely just been foreshadowing the deadly flu that starts effecting the characters in s2
a pair of well-intentioned cops protecting a group of civilian survivors and meeting an unfortunate, sudden end is like- twilight zone version of rick and shane’s own story and how it could have ended. great video btw!
You should cover the abandoned airforce base with the hanger full of walkers! It's just such a bizzare scene because they all have their weapons still and how it looks like the walkers had been dormant for a long time.
i believe those walkers in the hanger got gassed or chemical attacked before they were about to be deployed somewhere, at the start of outbreak, hence all their combat gear and most firearms being loaded ect.
@@BENVOLIO9 If it was a gas or chemical attack I feel that the soldiers would have at least tried to put on gas masks. Also I feel like they would not have just been clustered in a hanger however the show writers were just trying to put together a story at that point but it's still interesting nonetheless.
@@BENVOLIO9 the chemical attack was my first thought, and the fact they were almost momified would mean they were killed in the early months of the outbreak. Maybe by a civilian surprise attack, people who were fed up by the shot on sight rule in place with the cobalt operation. But yeah...the fact that they were not even with their mask on is weird when you know soldiers drill a lot with gas rooms. I hope TYwells will make a video on it.
I think people got sick, similar to the prison. The survivors burnt the few that were sick first. Then, everyone got sick and triaged in the public works building.
@@hopefulpellinore5490 I really didn’t even know it was a thing or even had a name to it until I started watching Ty’s videos. I love abandoned things and when I’m watching them here on RUclips, I wonder about what I see in the videos and what’s the story behind them. So I guess it’s in a lot of things. Fictional and real.
I believe the guards died of Botulism due to eating the rotting food. Once the symptoms surfaced, they wouldn't eat anything since the symptoms include paralysis, difficulty breathing, vomiting, belly pain, and diarrhea and without treatment; death.
I liked this episode specifically because it was about Rick and Shane finally having that very needed 1v1 conversation. I didn't notice until i watched thus video but after Shane threw that wrench, he looked at his reflection on the broken glass and that can be symbolic as him being broken himself/losing himself. I can kinda understand Randall keeping that info of him knowing Maggie to himself but he kinda put himself into a bad situation by even mentioning that. As for the cops, they might have starved/ most likely dehydrated. Since you're more likely to die from dehydration faster than starving but i like your theory. It's very hard to tell from how all the walkers in the building itself died. I forgot that i liked this episode the most favorite part is the fight between Rick and Shane. Another great video!👍🏾
I wish these environment stories would compile in it's own anthology series, explaining what had happend back in the day, maybe leaving some more questions or ideas why it happend. Or even better - create a character or two who stayed alive in one group of survivers and then moved to the other community, where they died or became a start of outbreak.
@@27Battleship In the clips used in this video, they very clearly don't. Also I don't remember any point where Rick would have had the opportunity to do that, he was pretty busy.
@@wallythewondercorncake8657 For some reason, my reply isn’t showing up. Type into RUclips if you get the chance, Rick and Randal save Shane. Right as Rick takes Randall and seems to abandon Shane, they stop by the two dead officers and Rick takes their guns. He looks at the dead two officers and it motivates him to go back and rescue his partner.
The 2 cops may have died because of dehydration. You have an expectatios of 1 week (at best) of survival withouth water, so maybe the cops where at the fences when everything went south inside the building and with the noise more walkers approached to the place, making it impossible to go over the fences to space. After that, they may have been hidden in one of the cars until their dead. If not, their deads are extrange because a shot to the head would have been the most quick way to do it, but if that was the case they woudnt have reuturne.
Heres my theory: The civilians all stayed inside while the two cops stayed outside somewhere else because they figured, we have guns and we dont want people accidentally shooting each other or making a grab for ours so we will stay outside and patrol, so when someone died of natural causes, this caused a panic in the main building but the doors being locked caused a frenzy which got the civilians killed, i also believed because they used all their gas burning bodies and as a sense of duty, didn't leave the area since the nearest place to scavenge was too far being so remote, eventually ran out of food and decided a painless and non-traumatic way of killing themselves was some sort of poison, i believe in the "non traumatic" way of doing it since one cop looked way younger then his partner, maybe the older one didn't want to scar the younger cops last moments of life, they believed they wouldn't come back but did I always make long theorys lol
Maybe there was more cops on the station that went looking for supplies with the last vehicle with gas after most of the civilians turned inside the building, so the two remaining were waiting while starving.
I would want to say the Cops died of starvation, but I would think a Walker that came from a victim of starvation would be very weak and easily destroyed, so they probably died of self deletion but if it was by poisoning they would have likely thrown up and I doubt walkers would wash their faces off when they became active
@Swell-Films Yeah, I remember reading it after I wrote the comment, and it made sense, I would have to wonder what effect of being from a victim of dehydration would have on a Walker's abilities, but the Cops were there for symbolism as much as for a threat to Rick and Shane
Because they’ve likely been outside this entire time wouldn’t it be possible that any evidence of poisoning or food born illness being washed away from repeated rainstorms ?
@kycat85 If they self deleted themselves, they would have done it in a shady spot, and dry vomit wouldn't easily come off in rain even if it did. There would still be stains without any stimulation they would most likely go dormant soon after they became Walkers. I agree with the commenter who suggested that they die of dehydration, which would kill them quicker than starvation, and using chemicals or poison to self deletion would also be very painful . Also, they are cops. If they want to end themselves, they would use their guns. It would be quick and painless
Another thing is that those forms of death are very painful, and the Cops would have had access to means of making things quicker. RUclips deleted my last reply, so I'm going to have to be careful @kycat85
@@thepeskyonevery likely, Also note worthy is that there were other counties established in the first episode such as King County and Linden County, as well as the Atlanta Police department during s5 so a lot of the law enforcement was likely to have lived through the apocalypse or remain at their stations like the zombies cop Rick shoots in the pilot
It varies based on a whole range of factors but you are looking at atleast 2 months minimum BUT since its about 2 months give or a take a week or 3 from the out break to the Rick vs Shane fight… thats just about the right time for those to starve to death if food ran out within days to or a week from the outbreak
@@fazsum41 Dunno where you're getting months, it's usually 2-3 weeks without food and 2-3 days without water, and you're not gonna be having a good time after one day without hydration, and about a week without food.
@@AJadedLizard various medical articles and common knowledge is where. Like i said a whole range of factors comes into play on how long a person can live without food and water. Records have shown to have a few cases go as far as 45 days without food… And no one said anything about still being good after not having any food and water… you may able to survive long periods without food and water but medical issues start from the first 5 days at least from not eating.
@@fazsum41 So, "common knowledge" should teach you that a massive outlier isn't an average. Someone _may_ be able to live a month and a half without food but that doesn't mean _most_ people can.
I think it’s a plausible theory that maybe the cops did find something in the trash, but have them food poisoning or some other related illness, and without water or any form of medical aid, they died as a result
I think you're on point. I always thought they self-exited when they were the only two left... hopeless and helpless, unbeknownst to them that you come back. Just wondering... could the people have been locked in the building, like the arena in Fear? Some turned, but they couldn't tell who was who? And the thought of having to put so many down as they turned was daunting. Randall wasn't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree...
I think I agree with the comments that say that they died from lack of water or a consumption of bad water. Mixed in with how hot it is in Georgia at the time, it would be safe to assume that they would need a lot of water/liquids to stay sane/alive. I can’t see any water bottles or canteens among the cans so it doesn’t look like they had anything to drink. Also, say they did drink from a river or something, it doesn’t look like they had anything to purify that water, so maybe they got sick/poisoned from something in that water.
Randy Bo Brandy saying he knew maggie and herschel was probably the biggest mistake he could have possibly made And i just realized we never get any more information about the other group he was with. Maybe associated with the military guys the governor mows down later since they both talk about fort benning...?
For your next video, I suggest the On-The-Go Burger place in FTWD season 3, episode 14. Something about the place never made sense to me, having watched in season one how things broke down even before the zombies overran everything. The place looks frozen in time, with half eaten baskets of food on the tables and a zombie kid in the playground ballpit. The implication being that the place was open and operating normally up until the moment the world fell. Which to me seemed unlikely, I mean for starters, the place would have likely closed at least a day or so before everything went bad. Afterall, who would show up to work at such a place when the news is spreading that the dead are rising, no minimum wage job would have employees that loyal. It wasn't being used for shelter like some of the other places you've covered, the doors weren't locked and not a single window was broken. With the exception of an overturned table, no evidence of looting or of a horde attack can be found. The fact there's just the kid who was bitten and died in the playground area (assuming she didn't die in the ballpit) also didn't make sense, you'd think like the Waterpark it would be a trap other walkers would have wandered into over time. So are we to believe she was only bitten, managed to not be pursued further by whatever walker did it (as there were no corpses so it wasn't killed and it wasnt in there with her), and spent hours or even days hiding in the ballpit before dying of infection? Was there no one else there with her, and if so where were they? As I mentioned there were no corpses lying around or even any dried blood pools, no indication anyone was viciously mauled or devoured. So many things about the place doesn't add up.
That episode frustrated me so much. There was so much unnecessary back and forth. Just drop him off with a book bag full of supplies at an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere and call it a day.
To be fair that’s basically what they were doing, the plan only changed when Randall revealed he knew who the Greenes were, and more than likely knew the farms location.
They didn't do that because they were afraid he might make it back to his group and tell them the location of the farm, since he knew the Greene family.
If you watched the episode you'd know why they couldn't. Because Randall confessed that he knew where they all lived. So if they let him go, he could be at risk of coming back with his group and killing everyone.
The walkers died over a period of seasons in a year. Most walkers are dressed in under and top shirts, that is to reduce the cost of make-up. I've actual paused and counted how many walkers are dressed in that style. A vast majority are. The characters running around in long hair and loose clothing. Little things add to the continuity.
@@Swell-Films i haven’t watched it yet unfortunately as i’m out an a family meal but i don’t need to watch it to know i won’t be disappointed! you’re so talented and incredible always remember that
Another environmental storytelling this week? Oh hell yes!!!! I just really like how you get into different theories and details + tie them together so well. Keep it up :•)
this environmental storytelling series has been awesome. some of my overall favorite videos to watch on youtube at the moment. Great work and please keep it going. Would also be interested to see additions to the series from the daryl dixon show, as there are many cool environmental story scenes in france that could make great videos
Another great episode. I definitely want to see a longer episode focused on the deterioration of Rick and Shane's friendship and how it serves as a warning to not let things come between one another in times of crisis.
I absolutely love your theory and this right here should have been a Tales of the Walking Dead episode. Wouldn't it have been amazing to perhaps see the Cops hope they were keeping people alive. That the military would roll through and save them. That maybe they knew and grew up with the people they were guarding. How heartbreaking would it have been to see them deal with something like the prison in season 4 and having to put down perhaps a widow who made them treats at the station or a farmer who's harvest festival was always their favorite event to be at. I personally wish the spin offs did some more of this environmental storytelling like NYC had all those signs and even a whole lotta footprints on the streets showing panic. But I wanted to see more. Perhaps more of how people tried to swim or take a boat off of Manhattan and were shot in the water as they tried. The military keeping them like a plague island. The Ones Who Live did have some nice dark storytelling in episode 4, Daryl somewhat too. But sadly none like the main show. Idk if you've done this one but how about the "Sick inside, let them die." In season 5 when GREATM stumbles on the firetruck.
Of the mysteries in this show, this is definitely one of them. The self-deletion via pills would be the most fitting in terms of lack of injuries, however as another commenter added, and by personal experience (my cousin once took a few too many headache pills), it really doesn't take a whole lot to spew it all back up. It certainly wouldn't be a simple, easy, and painless way to go that's for sure. That, and also given that this would've been early on and as you stated weeks into the outbreak already, I highly doubt there would have been enough meds on hand to be able to OD. I think, given the visuals, they most likely died of dehydration. It would make sense to see all the opened food, as you can be full, but still die of dehydration. It would also go to back another commenter that if they died of starvation, much like other walkers in the show, they would visually be very malnourished and skinny, whereas they look fairly healthy (minus the fact they are, y'know... undead). My personal end theory, they died of dehydration, after locking up the walkers in the main building, and likely being unable to wander outside the compound to a lake or well. I've really come to appreciate the visual and environmental storytelling of this universe over the years. At the start I recognized it, but I just didn't really understand or truly appreciate not only the work and effort put into it, but also storytelling itself outside of the groups and people that we know. That, and also people like you and the people in these comments sections that all might have slightly different theories and takes as to how or why something happened or was important, etc. but we typically all end up on one conclusion; we love this show.
For a story you could do as like a a creepy one, in fear the walking dead season 2 episode 4 when the beginning scene when he gets on the back and a black hawk helicopter right on the border shows, and there are 100s of operational and lights on boats circling the shore, very creepy as the camp he gets to just recently got killed
Thanks for covering this one, recently going through the series with my wife and this place really peaked my interest as it looks like a good place to use as a base, i know im trying to apply logic to TWD series and you shouldn't but i never understood why they didn't go here after the farm or try for Rick's hometown
Because the perimeter and outer parts of the settlement- as well as the main building itself- lacks visible damage/signs of struggle I think that regardless of what happened it either happened at night or too fast for people to react. The burnt bodies might hint towards some of the survivors having been bit- forcing the deputies to quarantine everyone while figuring out their next step- which instead backfired, leading to the complete annihilation of the group instead. The deputies themselves are interesting too because not only do they lack any visible injuries/Cause of Death but they are also not wearing any duty belts, holsters, radios, vests and/or crowd control equipment which makes me think that however they passed they must have expected to, as opposed to being geared up and dying mid-fight. Either way, great video Ty!
This was such a great video! A piece of environmental storytelling that might make a good video is the camp that was at the museum in 901! I was always curious how all the walkers got in the basement of the museum!
Nice video. If you take suggestions, I would say to look at the farm that Rick and Morgan chased down a Kingdom Soldier to in S6 EP15. Reason I suggest this is the walkers that are at the farm all appear fresh, meaning they most likely recently turned. It such a small location it probably wouldn’t be a long video but by examining the walkers and their possible injuries, you could probably make a couple theories on what happened.
Love these videos because there IS 90% a story the writers created here, a small story explaining things uet never actually explained to the viewer and yet you I feel more or less hit the nail on the head. I wouldnt be surprised if your explinations lined up 9/10 times with what the writers were thinking of
No. The cop car had a hose go into it from the back. They committed suicide having the exhaust go into the car. I knew of this because I noticed it really fast back then. Plus a photo you used shows it.
It was a warning or a hint about the fact they could turn no matter what. Hence why Rick and Shane never focused on it on the show because they was distracted. The answer of having the disease already was in our faces.
Im assuming the guards either died of thirst or poisoned themselves. They're not skinny enough to have starved and it doesnt seem like theyd be too scared to just... Leave. Mightve been trapped by walkers around the fence and offed themselves with walkers inside due to an outbreak. Walkers couldve gotten around the parameter with the noise from people getting eaten/being turned. I say thirst because with most of the walkers being inside and the guards being outside I'm assuming they couldn't get any water stored inside while being stuck outside.
Heres my Theory. When the Evacuation center became overrun, the one Shane Killed Oits at which is close by this place. The few survivor's left and possibly those cops went here. The cops or someone else decided to try and find more survivors to bring here safety in numbers. And the fact that at first this place was safe. They had a lot people here at one time, unfortunately the survivor's where mainly people who weren't combat trained. This left the two cops as the only people really capable of taking care of the zone. A few others probably helped as well. Someone was already bitten but hid this fact. One night the the bitten survivored turned, and that was it. As for the cops trapped and seeing what the dead did to living, tbey opted out using some kind of medicine or chemicals.
I'm with Chubbyfox on this one. Heat stroke. It likely set off the first infected innthe main building too, especially if the water network is down. Even if the cops themselves didn't get heat stoke, it would reduce the length of time they could survive without water.
They died from dehydration. They're in the south. Its hot. You have 3ish days without water before you die. There's very little if any water in the trash. It's summer? It looks like. So little rain too.
Thanks for this video. I'm on a rewarch and the scratch danger and what happened at Rick's station does linger in my head a lot. In terms of TWD's own rules (Like many others) they could have easily retconned it. The first Walker we see (The little girl) comes at Rick quicker than any Walker we see after. At least any I can remember. As a fandom though, we naturally search for in universe anawers. I think Walker scratches can hurt and kill much like animal claws, like we see other Vampire and Zombie lore changed depending on story I don't think they turn people though. When it comes to the cops, I wouldn't rule out some sickness and starvation. I actually think, like a lot of the world after "The turn" at least some of the cops may have went for the least messy suicide they could have seeing how hopeless things were getting. I enjoyed this very much. Great theories and got me thinking.
I'm glad to see so many still interested in the series, especially little parts of the early days in the show, like I still am. A question I've really never found an answer for is how long was Eugine and Abraham on the road, they meet Rosita before finding Tara and Glen, and becoming my favourite 5 of the show. But if it had been 10 months - a little over a year before the whole Woodbury arc, then a few more months before the governor came back, and a few days after the prison. How did it take then about a year and a half to get from Texas - Georgia, or if it had only been a few weeks or months, what had Eugine been doing before Abraham and the journey to DC. If somehow over these years of rewatching I missed some lines that were sooo obvious I'd feel soo dumb. But I feel like people make timelines of Rick and the main groups timeline from the fall to present day, and just focus on the other character to the point they joined, never really digging into how and why it took so long for the Texas team to travel to Georgia
I don’t think there were only 2 police officers. There were at least 2 Ford Crown Vics and also police motorbikes so I think there were more cops but they abandonded the post or simply died somewhere else within the area.
Hello there, I just want to say that I’ve been watching ur series and I really like it! I enjoy listening to ur observations of the environment, corpses and key items that can help speculate a story :) I love doing these type of studies as well, and doing Dystopian movies/tv series r my favourites to study because it can actually help the viewer acknowledge this could possibly happen irl and what to expect. Keep up the great work!
Some thing I did notice in this episode. The cops must have died recently, I say this because I observed their uniforms weren't that worn. I don't believe their were walkers outside the fence because none were present when our group arrived, and the fence was intact. Another thing I noticed was that the cops still had ammunition on them because our group stripped them if their firearms along with their duty belts containing spare magazines. So I don't believe there was a big ire fight with the dead. Both cops apparently died at the same time as if they died separately one would have turned and gone after the other who in turn would have shot him or been bitten by him. So my guess is probably some type of poison ingested. Dehydration or heat stroke is another option, but then again in that type of situation they wouldn't have died at the same time. So I'm going with that they ingested poison or both got scratched and turned.
I love exploring small details like this. We discuss overarching themes so frequently, but small aspects like this are very interesting as well if you ask me
Honestly, I think they just gave up and committed the S word. It seems like everyone that they were trying to protect ended up dead, they were also surrounded by walkers, and running out of food, so they probably thought they had no other options, so they went out together as brothers.
I like the overdose idea! Coked up or methed out, because the cops are trying to stay vigilant outside the compound and just go too long without actual rest and food. Fits the no visible signs if they stroked out of had a heartattack.
Here's an alternative theory of mine. The deaths of the cops and the civilians happened Opposite. The stress of protecting and providing for all the civilians caused tensions between the cops to build up until they broke into a fight that ended up with one killing the other. Not knowing that death no matter the cause is what does it. Then while the killer was in shock, the dead one managed to bite the living one. And with walkers outside the fence as well as the two inside with them, the rest of the civilians retreated into the main building and closed themselves in. Locking out both the zombie cop and the bitten one until both were turned. Then, during the night while everyone was sleeping after trying to figure things out, someone died during the night and started attacking the rest crammed in there with them. And with people panicking and the zombie cops outside, no one was able to escape the building and everyone died between being bitten and being trampled by everyone else trying to escape the dead. Could add extra to the parallels between Shane and Rick. And a warning of how their fighting could cause the downfall of their entire group.
I have an idea I think it's season 7 with rick and Aaron finding supplies for the saviours stumble across a stranded houseboat in a lake the one thing I remember from that episode is the note that Aaron finds in one of the boxes *CONGRATS FOR. 🖕. WINNING BUT YOU STILL LOSE!!!!*
I love The walking Dead as much as most of us here but there are so many inconsistencies that are hard to overlook. Ok like almost every time they kill a walker the walkers blood splatter on there face and Rick and everyone always has their mouth open like there Michael Jordan about to dunk . And I see a lot of grass that's cut ... Who's cutting grass in the apocalypse 😂
10:16 It kinda looks like the can was opened as the area around the tab looks to be lower than the rest. Maybe they used a can opener to make less noise? Idk
So they didn't starve that theory can be thrown out on the bases of their bodies. They aren't boney and show no signs of starvation. The best answer is they became dehydrated and collapsed while on guard. A survivor probable went to look for them and was bite by their reanimated bodies. The survivor then fled back into the building telling no one of the bite but explaining that the cops have turned. There would be a debate on what to due most being to scared to face them causing them to wait for the night. The bit survivor would then turn and attack the other sleeping survivors. More and more people would turn and wake the rest. It would be dark and screams would be every where, people who made it to the exit would find it blocked by the dead cops on the outside drawn by the noise. Leaving them trapped and bound to their fate. (side note) due to it being hot especially in Georgia the cops moved everyone inside to keep people cool and to prevent heat stroke (which is what most likely killed them) as the busses would be too hot for people to stay in. Also due to the possibility of walkers pushing against the fences they saw it as a safer option for if the fences failed. So in short I feel like the cops died first which caused a person to become infected and turn the rest. Yes their is a lack of blood by their mouths but seeing how they were stuck outside it could've been washed away by rain.
Something i’d like to see you make a video on is the route that the group took from Atlanta to Alexandria. I’ve seen posts about it, but i’m interested in your take on it. Forgive me if you’ve already made a video on this or something similar, i’m a newer sub.
You should do the one where, " how did the soldiers die in the military camp where they tried to rappel down to get some resources" i forgot the episode
Since there's one can of food they might've fought to the death over it and neither won but I think irl the big dude would win 10/10 unless the little guy surprised him but there's no obvious signs of death so a suicide pact seems more likely
If they ate uncooked can meat. Or came across a bad can of food. They could have drank unclean water. But its now how they really died. But died and did their job to the end.
Like you said, this was before Rick dropped the “Everybody’s Infected” bomb so I think the scratches were a future plot point but it ended up getting trashed like various things we saw walkers do in Season 1: A walker picked up a doll and another one used a brick to break a glass door. They also climbed a fence and opened a door.
I feel like the most likely answer would have to be double s*ic*de because of a few reasons. 1: People dying of starvation wouldn't die at the excat same time as each other meaning one of them would have turned first and attacked the other but neither have any marks on them including 2: no visible scratches on either of them. For both of them to not be injured or covered in blo*d means they had to have died almost at the same time and not had any access to other infected or uninfected people.
Dehydration for the cop walkers. They aren’t emaciated enough to have starved but we don’t see any rain barrels out to catch water water bottles among the trash etc. I mean it makes the most sense to store their water in the building with how brutally hot Georgia is.
I definitely don’t think scratches turn people. Everyone always tries to cite Big Tiny being scratched as him being infected but that was never confirmed, because the other characters thought he was bit, only the viewers know he was scratched.
maybe in the next topic we can talk about twd 2x3 in abandoned school turning emergency camp where Shane and Otis taking medicine for dying Carl and then Shane's shoot Otis in the foot and left him for walkers dinner. just look at the all of the emergency vehicles and all of the dead soldiers (and presumably cops and doctors as well) make me curious about the backstory (sorry fo bad grammar, english wasn't my 1st language)

@Swell-Films Honestly, that would be a great video😄 you explaining all the continuity errors in twd (if you haven't already)
@@damianmando-vx7qyagreed
@Swell-Films my head canon is just he's built different
Some things about this episode that’s unintentionally funny to me is
1. There was a gif I saw on tumble that featured Rick getting piled on by those walkers and he’s holding an ice cream cone so now I can’t unsee it whenever I watch the ep
2. They make a point to cut their hands so walkers can be distracted by licking the blood but this is never done again
For me nothing will ever be funnier than Shane's lowercase "nononono" in that scene that's memed to oblivion.
@@AJadedLizardI think that's from another series. The punisher? I never watched just saw ads
@@jeremyscungio16 The constant 'nononono' is from the punisher
@@magmatard8737 but that's the one that's a meme no?
Maybe they had a heatstroke. It’s very hot Georgia. Maybe stress gave one of them a heart attack.
That would be the shittiest way to die during a zombie apocalypse! 😂
Very true 😂
I thought they just starved

Oh jeez that’s a really interesting theory
@@Swell-Filmsthe terminus people ate tainted meat and didnt die

i agree with the theory, but i think they either died from accidentally eating someone poisonous, died of heat stroke/or died from a lack of water.
died from expired food
Wasn't there no food? Thirst or hunger seems the most likely
I think all the trash bags out side indicate that they ran out of supply's and potentially started drinking unsanitary water.
Alternatively though, it could have definitely just been foreshadowing the deadly flu that starts effecting the characters in s2
I would have gone looking for water
a pair of well-intentioned cops protecting a group of civilian survivors and meeting an unfortunate, sudden end is like- twilight zone version of rick and shane’s own story and how it could have ended. great video btw!
You should cover the abandoned airforce base with the hanger full of walkers! It's just such a bizzare scene because they all have their weapons still and how it looks like the walkers had been dormant for a long time.
Yes !! This scene is so weird and creepy
i believe those walkers in the hanger got gassed or chemical attacked before they were about to be deployed somewhere, at the start of outbreak, hence all their combat gear and most firearms being loaded ect.
What episode was that?
I think people got sick, similar to the prison. The survivors burnt the few that were sick first. Then, everyone got sick and triaged in the public works building.

Yeah I think dehydration is a very likely answer. We don’t see any water source so it could be likely. Thanks for watching as always mate!
I wish these environment stories would compile in it's own anthology series, explaining what had happend back in the day, maybe leaving some more questions or ideas why it happend. Or even better - create a character or two who stayed alive in one group of survivers and then moved to the other community, where they died or became a start of outbreak.
True, tales of TWD could've done something with that idea but they were too scared of good writing
The cops are missing their duty belts, I think someone murdered them and took their gear
Good theory!
They still have their guns on them. Rick takes them right before he goes back to save Shane.

@@novawildpaw3732 Yes! His videos are pretty comforting. 😊
Heres my theory:
The civilians all stayed inside while the two cops stayed outside somewhere else because they figured, we have guns and we dont want people accidentally shooting each other or making a grab for ours so we will stay outside and patrol, so when someone died of natural causes, this caused a panic in the main building but the doors being locked caused a frenzy which got the civilians killed, i also believed because they used all their gas burning bodies and as a sense of duty, didn't leave the area since the nearest place to scavenge was too far being so remote, eventually ran out of food and decided a painless and non-traumatic way of killing themselves was some sort of poison, i believe in the "non traumatic" way of doing it since one cop looked way younger then his partner, maybe the older one didn't want to scar the younger cops last moments of life, they believed they wouldn't come back but did
I always make long theorys lol
Maybe there was more cops on the station that went looking for supplies with the last vehicle with gas after most of the civilians turned inside the building, so the two remaining were waiting while starving.
I would want to say the Cops died of starvation, but I would think a Walker that came from a victim of starvation would be very weak and easily destroyed, so they probably died of self deletion but if it was by poisoning they would have likely thrown up and I doubt walkers would wash their faces off when they became active
Another commenter mentioned dehydration which looking around I think could be a valid cause as well
@Swell-Films Yeah, I remember reading it after I wrote the comment, and it made sense, I would have to wonder what effect of being from a victim of dehydration would have on a Walker's abilities, but the Cops were there for symbolism as much as for a threat to Rick and Shane
Mert county also lacks a ton of walkers police officers.
Meaning the majority probably solo they way out of there
Mert county had like 1 episode appearance and counties are large places, so zombie cops at the time 18 miles out were spread out.
It takes some time to starve to death months in fact but no water within days
Valid. And looking around I don’t see a source of water either
Records have shown to have a few cases go as far as 45 days without food…
And no one said anything about still being good after not having any food and water… you may able to survive long periods without food and water but medical issues start from the first 5 days at least from not eating.
Randy Bo Brandy saying he knew maggie and herschel was probably the biggest mistake he could have possibly made
And i just realized we never get any more information about the other group he was with.
I completely forgot about that place great suggestion. I’ll Definitely check it out!
@@Swell-Filmsyou should do some environmental storytelling on the telltale games, specifically Crawford from season1
That female zombie is very expressive and well done
The walkers died over a period of seasons in a year. Most walkers are dressed in under and top shirts, that is to reduce the cost of make-up. I've actual paused and counted how many walkers are dressed in that style. A vast majority are. The characters running around in long hair and loose clothing. Little things add to the continuity.

please keep making these videos - it’s one of the only things keeping me going rn whilst having to work and study full time
I absolutely love your theory and this right here should have been a Tales of the Walking Dead episode.
That scene always stood out to me too. I’ll definitely look into it!
Oh that’s right that place was overrun. Great suggestion I’ll definitely look into it
I hope you do every scene from every ep at some point. I could watch these environmental stories forever tbh
I even think one of the cop doors to that car was slightly open if I recall
So they was able to get out after death
This was the episode I enjoyed trying to figure out stuff and it annoyed me how fast the hints on how they died flew by
It was a warning or a hint about the fact they could turn no matter what. Hence why Rick and Shane never focused on it on the show because they was distracted. The answer of having the disease already was in our faces.
At 3:25 is the hose.
I love these videos, you point out so many cool things that I didn’t even see before! Thank you for all your hard work, we appreciate it! 😊

6:07 “I am now going to peas together the story”
Unless they'd been bitten prior and already bandaged their wounds before putting on uniforms (hence why they couldn't be seen)
Rick: Stop acting like you know the way ahead, like you know the rules. There are no rules, man, we're _lawst._
Shane: nonono

What annoyed me in this episode is when he starts crawling towards the knife instead of just rolling over to it
That would not have added to the drama.

It might not be starvation, but dehydration that killed them. You go pretty quick without water, you can hang on awhile with no food
I don’t think there were only 2 police officers. There were at least 2 Ford Crown Vics and also police motorbikes so I think there were more cops but they abandonded the post or simply died somewhere else within the area.

Hey thanks so much I appreciate you watching!
I've just discovered this channel. Looks like a hidden gem! Subscribed.
Thanks so much and welcome!
My personal Favorite episode thanks for covering it
You can see cans of food on the ground, but no water.
FINALLY ANOTHER ONE❤❤❤❤
you ever kick ball through brick wall?
No
Only when it's raining
Yes
I kicked a ball through brick wallpaper once.
I've taken to listening to your videos while doing my necromancer run for BG3
I have an idea I think it's season 7 with rick and Aaron finding supplies for the saviours stumble across a stranded houseboat in a lake the one thing I remember from that episode is the note that Aaron finds in one of the boxes
*CONGRATS
FOR. 🖕. WINNING
BUT YOU STILL LOSE!!!!*
18 miles out has always been in my top 5 walking dead episodes
These videos are really interesting to watch :) Thanks for making them! Cheers from Canada!

Something i’d like to see you make a video on is the route that the group took from Atlanta to Alexandria. I’ve seen posts about it, but i’m interested in your take on it. Forgive me if you’ve already made a video on this or something similar, i’m a newer sub.
I think the scratch marks are from messing with the gate. That’s just Rick attempt to throw him off
I love this series
They could've ended themselves by drinking the gasoline
Gosh you're just covering everything! And on top of that, you're uploading environmental story videos back to back? :o
I love your videos so much
In defense of Lori, they were on a break
lol
babe wake up, ty swell uploaded!
