Are you kidding me?!?!? This solo is amazing. Wow. Stumbled onto it after taking a short 30 year break from playing sax. I played as a kid in high school jazz band, and then...life. Just bought a horn over the weekend, and bumped into this gold nugget of inspiration. Thanks for putting it out. Dave C.
Wow! thank you so much Dave! I'm really glad this track was an inspiration for you. I also took a break from my saxophone after college, and didn't play it for about 10 years. I think this track is so good because of a totally grueling day I had the day before. it's kind of clichéd, but the more suffering you go through the better your blues gets! thanks again, and good luck with your sax playing!
It’s a pleasure hear you…! You’re only one what I find that make real blues music on sax, jazz it’s good, but the blues it’s so feeling…. Tks for sharing
that's awesome Pieter! I feel honored to be able to set an example for somebody! I have lots of musicians who do that for me. I would suggest getting a bunch of blues jam tracks and playing your blues scales along with those tracks over and over. I did that for like a year in my garage and then finally started going to blues jams. it helps to have three or four tracks in each key so you can mix it up . I have at least 4 jam tracks in every key: usually a shuffle, a slow blues, a swing, and a funk . It seems like the keys that everyone plays at blues jams are A C E and G ( those are the keys that the guitar plays in, not the saxophone), so you might focus on those four keys. this song is actually just me playing my saxophone over one of the jam tracks I was practicing on. I had absolutely no clue that it would get this many views on RUclips, it's kind of a trip! good luck with your sax playing- I'd like to hear one of your tracks sometime!

+Véronique Gayot . Thank you so much Veronique! You're pretty dedicated playing 2 hours a day! It's great that you can both sing and play sax. Best of luck with your music!
Wow - I'm not sure how to respond to that other than saying that I'm very humbled by your feedback. Thank you so much for sharing that - I'm very happy you had such a positive experience with my music! 🙏
I started to play junior high and played in the high school marching band in the mid 80s I stopped playing around 2000/2001. I wish I would have never stopped, I been really thinking of trying to play again.
I'm 66 n just started sax and music 3 mos ago. I'm over anxious but making good progress. Go for it. This is my favorite music .a bit more blues be good. Love this video tho
@@eillo84 feel each note with a different emotion. It may not sound so good right now but if you practice notes with anxiety, you'll just teach yourself to play notes that have anxiety behind them. Music is a feeling more than it is a sound. Keep going, it sounds really good really fast if you stick with it!
Thank you so much Manon! the Pink Floyd connection is very interesting, I guess I don't know that much about their music. However, I've heard a little of their live stuff which is heavily psychedelic and improv focused. Anyway thank you so much for your comment!
Very awesome, great tone quality. You have that ability to go from very pretty seductive sound to that raspy, nasty gritty sax sound. Bless you from a fellow sax player
Right on - thank you so much!! I have a friend with serious mental health issues who unknowingly fueled this solo. We call that "turning poison into medicine" in Buddhism
WhenI hear music like this I love imagining that I’m living in a penthouse in St. Louis, it’s night time, and I’m sipping on a wine glass with only my gf/wife
@@Jewles12max1roxy8 I,m listening to this on a wet and cold night in the coastal city of Sunderland in North East England, eating a corn beef sandwich and drinking a glass of Blueberry juice but it doesn,t matter, this is superb music.
This is gold, great job Craig. You're honestly my idol - I'm starting a course in Saxophone - hope I get to play like you someday! By the way, may I use it for a video or something?
Thank you so much, I'm really honored!! Best of luck with your sax playing! Playing blues on sax is awesome - I can have my worst day ever and I can blow it all out through my horn, which is kind of what happened on this track. Take care!
might be an odd question, but do you have this on sheet music? this kind of music is exacly why i started to play the saxophone, and i would love to be able to practice this myself! and keep up the good work!
Hey Kevin, Alex (see above) is right, the solo was 100% improvised, so I don't have any sheet music for it unfortunately. I think I was pretty much sticking with the E blues scale on alto, but I'm not sure what I played on those fast runs - my fingers just kind of do that. If you have recording software, you might import the audio and then loop it so you can hear the same passage over and over again and try to play along with one short section at a time. Anyway, this a really cool question - thanks for asking!
+ALeX FoX99 Hi Alex, I was just playing the standard E blues scale. I might have gone off the scale a little on the fast runs, but if I did it wasn't intentional. I have another video on my channel where I'm playing 3 blues scales - it's the "sax solo funk rock" one. take care!

This is the power and the magic of the blues!
The sax is the chillest of instruments
I thought it was my instrument..I can't get that Mofo up!
Am a novice player myself, hope to adopt this as 'my' sound. Now I know why I want to play the sax! Thanks.

Solo de sax é pra viajar, lindo demais, música de qualidade. Adoro, eu flutuo literalmente!!!!!👏👏👏👏
this just relaxes me.
This is what i consider as music to the soul. Also, I consider it as early jazz with that blues feel to it

I didn’t play for 50 years after high school, got a inexpensive tenor off the internet, the rest is history. Love it
Not what I would call a slow blues, but I could listen to this all damn day.
