Whodunnit? was a British television game show that originally aired on ITV as a pilot on 15 August 1972, hosted by Shaw Taylor, and then became a full series, which ran from 25 June 1973 to 26 June 1978. The series was first hosted by Edward Woodward in 1973 and then, following his departure from Doctor Who, hosted by Jon Pertwee from 1974 to 1978. Each week it featured a short murder-mystery drama enacted in front of a panel of celebrity guests who then had to establish who the murderer was. Anouska Hempel and Patrick Mower became permanent panellists from series 3 onwards, with two guest celebrities each episode. The panel members could interview the remaining characters, with the proviso that only the murderer could lie. Each panellist could also request to see a short replay of one section of the initial drama, which would often include events as they occurred and flashbacks as seen and narrated by individual suspects. At the end the compere would reveal the murderer with the catchphrase "would the real whodunnit please stand up?".

One of my heroes, Burt Kwouk, dealt brilliantly with the racism. Mower and Hempel behave dreadfully to him, and Burt’s intelligence and wit are wonderful.

My mum was telling me about how she loved the show back in the 70s and I was delighted to find it on RUclips for her. The casual racism took me by surprise - I sat literally open mouthed when she said "it all amounts to the same thing". I hope she looks back on this with embarrassment. Burt's wit totally outshines her idiocy.

Richard Green (A.k.a. Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen) looks pretty good in this. "Robin Hood" (1950s) is a show that I watched when I was a very very young child, along with Richard the Lionheart, William Tell, etc.
Robin Hood is another show I have rediscovered on RUclips. The episodes have stood up surprisingly well. Then I read a lot of the episodes were written by blacklisted Hollywood writers who had gone to live in England in the 50s.
Again I want to thank you. Watching "Whodunnit" brings back so many memories. I have to watch it with IMDb open, so I can ensure that I remember what shows I've actually seen the person in. Shanks was in "Zulu,"- best action movies ever made, in my opinion - I would say boys' own adventure, except I'm a woman. Plus "Please, Sir."
The other day I saw one of these with William Franklyn, and it brought back memories of 1980 when I spend a lot of time in London - I am from Sydney. Everywhere on the underground had posters of him in the stage production of "Deathtrap." When I actually saw "Deathtrap," the lead it was Gareth Hunt.
I'm starting to wallow in nostalgia! Thanks again.

“Evidence of Death” How could they tell he was dead, was it because he was lying on his desk, motionless with a lack of pulse?

Pretty clever how they purposefully didn't have that doctor speak after he came back, so it looked suspicious. That being said, it had to have been him in the costume, because of the height difference between him and his fiancee. And Magnus fell right into it.

Loved this show as a kid in the 70s - think Jon Pertwee held the thing together. The studio set is so cheap - looks like a couple of school tables. The guests were typical "stars" of the era :)
