Met Jon a year before he passed away. A lovely kind gentleman. We were last in the queue for autographs & he refused to go for a cigarette until all the photos had been signed & the kids had moved on. He said to me "I'm f***ing gagging for a fag but I don't want the kids to see Dr Who smoking". RIP Jon xxxx
I was at his final Doctor Who event he attended before he was going on holiday in America which he was on when he passed away. The event in Aldbourne was great and he left early cos he was going on his holiday- couldn’t believe it when just days later I heard he had passed away.
@@eoinh1 Not really. Not a patch on David Tennant and all those who came after. He was good for the times, though. They didn't demand much of actors, back then.
Loved him. Miss him. He was great as the 3rd Doctor. I started watching Doctor Who when Jon Pertwee started. His supporting cast were great too. Brigadier Lethbridge Stuart. Jo Grant Mike Yates. Sergeant Benton and the brilliant Master. Happy days
The Doctor when I was little, started me on DW journey (until Jodie 🙄😒🤯🤐) I love the way he takes the trophy and highlights someone else's gotcha not even realising he's been had! 👩🏾👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾What an absolute gentleman he was............
These kind of set ups show how people really are and how they respond to things going wrong. Jon handled that well he took the things going wrong with good humour and patience...even if he didn't have much time for the Dubliners and Englebert. The best bit is when hes given the Gotcha and doesn't realised he's just been done. lol
10 y.o.me meets Jon in the International Garden Festival in 1984, gladly signed my Worzel Gummidge post card and then I thought, ohhh I'll get him to sign this for my older brother...hands him the Everton FC F.A. Cup Winner's card, "Urgh, I'm not signing that!" - what a legend thanks Jon. x
Worzel Gummidge scared the hell out of me as a kid, especially when he pulled his head off and screwed on another. Terrifying. RIP John Pertwee sadly missed ✌️
I had the privilege of meeting Jon Pertwee when I was a boy. He was a true gentleman with a large personality. Many thanks for sharing this and bringing back a great memory.
9/11 Truthers are Retards- I also had the privilege of meeting him. He misheard my name and when realise he got my name wrong he was so apologetic. He was lovely, I remember being star struck .
I once saw him at the Ware Carnival in Hertfordshire in 1981. I was on a coach destined for Cambridge, and we had to stop and pull over to let the procession through. Jon was leading the cavelcade, in his Worzel Gummidge attire! He even did a couple of somersaults!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Jon Pertwee brought to dr who the same style and humour roger Moore breathed into Bond...both the best of the genres and a huge part of my tv childhood memories.❤️
I've watched this one so many times and it's still brilliant.....When Jon says - "I loved that one you did on.........." A priceless unscripted moment from the 3rd but my 2nd Doctor - RIP always, with your memory living on.
I recognise that lady - she's played Miss Richards on the brilliant spoof COUNTDOWN....... DUR of course ~~ they are both GOTCHAs. I'll get my coat LOL.
A charmed life. Pertwee was taken off the Hood in 1941 for a training course. The next day the ship was blown to smithereens by The Bismark. Three survivors.

John's voice will always take me back to happier times as a kid
My first recollections of Jon are in the radio show The Navy Lark, so funny.
He was one of a few that will always remind me of being a child watching great TV .. I miss those days
May his family celebrate his 100th year. A pure joy to watch from a great actor. Laugh at this time and time again.

My favourite doctor. Thanks for this.
What a sweet gentleman. RIP
This is hilariously funny Rip Jon Pertwee very much missed
His reaction will forever be priceless. I remember watching this back in the day and being a Pertwee fan, it was great to see. I miss the 90s so much.
I remember this.
I was nine when I saw this, and I knew him from reruns of selected adventures of his era of 'Doctor Who'.
The rapturous look on his face when he was listening to Dolly Parton... and the baffled look on his face when "David" mentioned "Una Paloma Blanca!"
"Martin you fool! You said it was Peter Cushing!" - Leaves me in stitches every time!
These kind of set ups show how people really are and how they respond to things going wrong. Jon = Absolute Legend
I met Jon in New Zealand around 1980 I think. He was charming and very kind.
So hard to believe that he was dead within 2 years of making this... Rest in peace John, you are missed
Yeah he should be looking deathly ill if he's going to die of a heart attack in two years time...
Dr Who definitely....flamboyant,sincere and funny. RIP Jon. 👍🏴😉
Brilliant. What a great sport John pertwee was. Lovely man
Brings a tear to my eye. Bless him. Lovely guy.
Back when actors had a personality.
Hahaha I miss the Gotcha's!! Proper 90's entertainment!!
The best Doctor Who. I remember hiding behind the sofa from the Daleks and from those giant walking mummies.
The mummies were from Tom Baker's time on the show, but yes, I agree!
I miss the good old days 😢
Me too mate.
Loved that guy. Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor x
Such a lovely man. THE best Doctor.
Absolute gentleman! RIP Mr Pertwee

Billy Babu The story teller
Great actor, he was Doctor Who when I was a child then when I was teen I howled at the antics of Worzel.
Worzel Gummidge scared the hell out of me as a kid, especially when he pulled his head off and screwed on another. Terrifying. RIP John Pertwee sadly missed ✌️

A real sport, very funny and keeping his composure. Real nice actor.
Lovely man, one of the few (if not the only one) who didn't rubbish Dr Who after he left.
