I missed this series when it came out so thank you for uploading them. Just binged them all. Wow, what a series! I love Davis's work anyway but this is a masterpiece. Pemberton is also a fave, everything he does is brilliant. Great pairing.
She's such a generous creator, so much brilliant material exclusively for her fellow performers. Unlike some other celebrated UK comedians one might add....

Have just finished Ep 6 (link available in description here). This has to be one of the finest TV series ever made. Hard to know what genre to place this - comedy, drama, tragedy. Would love to see Davis really let herself loose to see what she could come up with. As it is this is near perfect.
I LOVE that show, it's been a while since I watched it. So disturbing, but her character was eerily reminiscent of a "friend" I had in my early/ mid 20s. This woman's antics were completely bizarre, to the point where others wouldn't believe me. It was so good to see Julia had either met one like that our at least recognised the potential for a human like that to exist; and still somehow make it funny.
I noticed shows are only really starting to get female clown type characters. I was watching lots of 70s comedy shows, and the pattern was usually like Frank Spencer or George and Mildred where the man is a lunatic and the woman is normal. Buses was the about the only show with a crazy female.
I would have done the same if my wife had been such a b**** as this one. I was led here because it was supposed to be a comedy. After 5 minutes nothing even made my lips want to crack so I turned it off. Up to that point, it certainly was not a comedy, so I was not surprised when I found the show only lasted a very short series and no more. 'nuf sed.
It's such a strange brew, on one hand you've got these smartly aware comedians sending up a type of detached middleclassery that that on the other hand mirrors their own lives and attitudes
