Ppl told me I should get a new car cause I had $750 worth of work to get my car fixed I said I’d rather pay $750 once than $500 a month to drive … the logic
Yup my mom needed new tires and brakes on her 2007 fusion. Maybe $600 worth of work as I told her I’d do her brakes. She ended up buying a brand new escape BUT kept the fusion as she didn’t want to put miles on her new car. So she financed a new SUV and still had to pay the $600 to fix the fusion as she’s still driving it. The logic of poor people really is laughable

When I declined to book a ski holiday, my broke friend laughed and said "oh you're on Xk and can't afford it, wha wha". He was joking but it showed the attitude: earn more and spend more. Dave Ramsey rang in my ear "when you're broke friends laugh at you, you're doing something right". I fully agree with this video. The main reason IMHO that the younger generation is in such financial straits is that they are not taught ANY financial education in school or at home. Financial literacy should be mandated in all schools.
You know that the financial ignorance of people, especially younger people, is incredibly profitable for the financial industry and they cannot allow people to learn how money works.
One of the biggest things for me was to give up Disney. Lol it’s so stupid, but everyone here goes once a year. Keeping up with the Joneses, yupp. I added it all up, thought about the lines, the pressure to do all the things again…..And was like “no, thanks, Dave Ramsey would not approve”. 😂😂 Decided to spend a weekend at the beach instead for 1/10 of the price.
Yes! We don't do Disney and when we go to the beach, we drive (12 hrs) rather than fly. Vacation days are not an issue, and the money saved makes us so much happier when we are back!
You don't have to give up everything you enjoy. You can always find alternatives. There are many cheaper lesser known amusement parks in Orlando and California where you can have a good time.
I don't enjoy Disney. Crowded, hot. Lousy food. I've been twice. Have no desire to go back😊 the price was outrageous too for what it was. Concrete everywhere. Long lines I seriously don't get the attraction
@@Dobiegal yep gang stalking weirdos that surround me 24 hours a day instead of getting a job, its getting really demonic how many broke and homeleess people there are , that really hate money
Most people are trying to look rich, I know someone who drives a Lexus yet asked my mom to borrow money and has YET to pay it back. All thanks to instagram 🤔🙄 I didn’t buy a Lexus until I was in my late 30s and made bank and wrote a large check almost paid it off. Our country has a real problem and it’s called entitlement.
Its funny when I tell people to pay in cash for a car. If you have to finance it should be no longer than 36 months. Most people think thats too short for a car loan.
I learned how to say "I can't afford that" when times were good. So it amazes me to see that people are complaining about food prices and yet going into debt for dumb stuff. When you are honest about your financial situation and verbalize it, it becomes much easier to live within your means.
I got a compliment today about finally having a new pair of shoes, from a guy wears nothing but new designer apparel. New shoes, which I bought off color and online (to get a lower price) with a gift card bonus from giving blood is the first new pair in three years. The shoes they replaced, were bought before the pandemic, were demoted to lawn mowing shoes two years ago, and went into the trash because they had holes in them. When asked about it, I told him I'd rather have 15k in the bank with no (non mortgage) debt, then new Nike's every three months.
I live like I make $20/hr, I dont buy things I dont need, pretend I never get a raise & only I when I get a bonus, I use that for vacation for my wife and I, we are debt free and its so satisfying to have peace of mind.
Excellent points!!! Jade is right, people make choices and need to be accountable for the results/consequences. There needs to be a strong willingness to work to enable a desired lifestyle while living within the financial budget. Take charge, don't play the victim and set yourself up for financial failure. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I know a lady that had to evict a tenant, after working with them for a year. At court it came out that they bought their young child a motorcycle ..and other things. Now they are fixing to be homeless because there are no houses to rent. The tenants really thought they would not be evicted. They smarted off to the landlord. What is wrong with people?!!
I like that saying, "Live a Spartan life and give yourself a fighting chance", Spartans were ultra tough, hardened people that could take a lot of hits, highly efficient, focused and dedicated to their life purpose. Good analogy, I think of the Bob Seger song 'Like a Rock', back when nothin ever got to me, I was as strong as I could be, not a dime to spare, solid everywhere. Like A Rock. 😀
The sad reality about our America is that we fall for the marketing of upgrading our homes, cars etc etc without actually thinking if we can pay for all that. All because of “keeping up with the Joneses”
The amount of superficial status financing I've witnessed since the beginning of 2020 is so gross; people have been duped into massive mortgages that they can barely hold on to, car payments that are literally making them poor, and investing in finance trends only to lose the majority of the initial investment. Per the advice of Dave, I talked myself out of selling my starter house so many times when it appraised way over what I paid, and I thought it would get me into something bigger and better. Today, I'm so unbelievably thankful for that sage wisdom as we head toward this financial cliff.
You are absolutely right but I would like to add superficial status financing has been going on a long time probably since the 80s its just in our faces more because of the internet and speed of info.

The big problem is when a car breaks down the repairs are never cheap and it is only going up because they design cars to only be worked on by the dealership.
So how does the financial storm that is brewing affect those of us with no debt and have been doing things correctly? I’ve been working my whole life, working to pay off my mortgage, contributing to my 401k, emergency savings spot on and other savings are drawing a nice dollar value in earned interest. I live frugally and I’m still living a comfortable life. I just can’t help but wonder how this worldly financial storm could affect me???
Not long ago, Dave was telling people it was a great time to buy a house and everything would be ok. The real things on the horizon are major job losses, a housing crash, banking collapse, and the collapse of the U.S. dollar.
Your paycheck though is being eaten up by outrageous taxes especially property taxes I moved from the East Coast to a cheaper location. My property taxes are less than 700 a year
Call up your debtors and tell them you aint payin. Keep your hands off of my stash. When you realize the most of the things you are paying for doesnt enrich your life they easier it just became. Do stuff that matters. Heck with all else.
Most Americans don't live in big cities with public transit. They MUST have a car and cars cost as much as a house these days. The operation of cars is expensive.
You can get a good car for three or four grand I’m not saying you might not have to put one or two more into it but when you’re done you’ve got $5000 into a good car if you’re smart, you can pay cash for that and to fix it you don’t need twenty to thirty forty thousand dollars for vehicle
We are in a recession going into a depression! 🙁 Do what Dave says and pay off debt! But don’t do what Dave has said over a year now and buy a house! You will lose money buying a house now! Be patient and wait!
Everybody on my block purchased a new car or two this year. We are the only ones that did not purchase a new vehicle. People seem to have come into money lately. I see so many people driving new cars. We have been trying to cut back on spending.
Great show, thank you. I remember those days; so broke I couldn't pay for an internal fuel tank replacement, so I traded in my Aerostar for something else that had car payments. One thought I had at the time, was I didn't know what would break next. I hope those days are beyond me.
And then here's me with the exact OPPOSITE mindset, being cheap AF no wife no kids truck and toys paid in cash (not cheap toys btw) REFUSING to pay more than 150k for a single family home because i don't want to waste my life away at work...I could give two you know what's about my "status" SMH
No wife really isn’t the issue in my opinion. If you’re happy being single great for you and nobody should have an issue with that. I think the bigger issue is having children when not being financially secure enough.
I asked two friends about two years ago how much they spend on bills and food and neither knew the answer. I was shocked because I know EXACTLY. Well they found out when they got home and the answers weren’t good but it gave them clarity and they started acting right. 😂
That’s what my uncle did he was done paying his Jeep and then it started having to many problems so he went and traded for new Toyota lol and got payments again
It's going to get tougher and tougher because we're just going to keep printing money like there's no tomorrow because everyone deserves to have everything for free.

Today I work for some major freight and logistics companies and warehouses where SMEs can sell online, have their products fulfilled and shipped out. I can retire (I'm 40), but at the end of the day, I do enjoy my job and I can work form home.
Jade is becoming the best co-host because she’s actually the most relatable and doesn’t seem like a cheap Dave imitation like George Kamel is. i can’t watch or listen to videos with him anymore
It’s always funny how different everyone is. I love George because he is often using Daveism’s, love the rest of them except Deloney, not sure why
I like and appreciate George Kamel too!!
Why is SHE so much more relatable…it’s about the information…
@@nancymartinez6248 I heard it is because of the debt process that she walked through.
I agree, George is just trying to be Dave, whereas I'll watch this lady much more and she has her own character.
The main reason IMHO that the younger generation is in such financial straits is that they are not taught ANY financial education in school or at home. Financial literacy should be mandated in all schools.
Now, you and I both know the system wouldn’t profit off them if they knew how money actually worked and was managed
You know that the financial ignorance of people, especially younger people, is incredibly profitable for the financial industry and they cannot allow people to learn how money works.
Bingo.
People who do not want to work are not teachable about money.
Or maybe because everything is outrageously expensive now
One of the biggest things for me was to give up Disney.
Our debt free "scream" is tomorrow... $214K in 24 months!🎉
What do you do for a living to make that possible?? Not asking to be rude, it’s just hard to fathom that kind of income
Pretty impressive right there.
liar liar liar
Congratulations! Welcome to weird!
@@Dobiegal yep gang stalking weirdos that surround me 24 hours a day instead of getting a job, its getting really demonic how many broke and homeleess people there are , that really hate money
My husband and I are almost debt free. I started getting the “ I want a new kitchen” feeling. I’m glad I listened to this one. Jade is amazing!
Thanks to social media everybody feels that they deserve to live the wealthy lifestyle.
That is the real problem!
Jade! You are the best! More from Jade please! She calls it like it is but keeps the right tone.
The rich measure wealth in time and the poor measure wealth with money. Great job I rather be wealthy “rich” then look rich staying broke
No the gov is here to help
Its funny when I tell people to pay in cash for a car. If you have to finance it should be no longer than 36 months. Most people think thats too short for a car loan.
You can buy an old Lexus for very cheap so driving a Lexus doesn’t really mean anything
Dave is in my head EVERY time I attempt to go to the mall or eat out! I have to turn around😂
Great conversation and very good advice. I went from McDonalds to multi-millionaire in 20 years and I still live poor today.
How you become a millionaire?
I learned how to say "I can't afford that" when times were good. So it amazes me to see that people are complaining about food prices and yet going into debt for dumb stuff. When you are honest about your financial situation and verbalize it, it becomes much easier to live within your means.
I’m so glad you guys are being honest about what’s going on in the world.
I love this new host
Young people want everything Mom and Dad have, right now! Never mind Mom and Dad worked for 20 plus years or more to have what they have !
Thanks to watching Dave Ramsey videos, I paid off my house!
One of the most important things not taught in public schools, finance and taxes. Why? Parents teach your kids at a young age and home school them.
I know someone like this... Refuses to delay gratification. Then complains endlessly that salary isn't enough.
More Jade! She’s great.
We must be twins, you and I. Good on ya and keep pinching pennies. One day we can float in a moat of our interest-bearing accounts!
I haven't bought a pair of shoes in years.
@@TheFirstRealChewy ew
I'm laughing because every few years my sneakers get demoted to lawn mowing shoes too and a few years later are thrown out.
You rock!
I live like I make $20/hr, I dont buy things I dont need, pretend I never get a raise & only I when I get a bonus, I use that for vacation for my wife and I, we are debt free and its so satisfying to have peace of mind.
Delay gratification… make it a game.
But they want it now!😂
I know a lady that had to evict a tenant, after working with them for a year.
She's my favorite Ramsey personality
Well when you make the same as 3/4 years ago & everything doubled. Yup people are gonna struggle
Stop the exaggeration, things have not doubled.
Venezuelans: You cry baby!
Gas doubled. Some food and other things have doubled. Not everything has but it feels like it.
Mentally preparing for my aggressive budget and debt-repayment beginning Q2 and binging on DR videos!😅🎉
Same here
Keep watching the videos to stay motivated.
Don't wait. Start today!
i was going to start in 2016, did't start till 2020, debt free now.
I am paying off over 20k in the first half of this year but I have been tracking where my money is going so I have to stay the course
We aren’t talking about this enough! I don’t care if it puts fear in people, it’s a serious problem.
Love Jade’s energy on this show.
The sad reality about our America is that we fall for the marketing of upgrading our homes, cars etc etc without actually thinking if we can pay for all that. All because of “keeping up with the Joneses”
The Joneses are broke too! 😂😂
You are so true. I was thinking about getting another care because some of my friends have a newer car. I am not going to fall for the trap though.
Debt can get out of control quickly. It’s better to build slowly than overbuy and lose your home/car
Let’s talk about the cost of a home and what people are actually making. It’s a rent nation now. Greed, it’s the new norm.
I’d rather get the FPU and learn more with your show than get a Ramsey coach. At the moment I can’t afford an extra $400 a month to have one of those coaches. Maybe later on I can. But with your books, FPU program AND the show I’ve learned and continue to learn so much. Thank you all for sharing!!!
I loved FPU. Great life lessons for those serious about changing money habits
You don't need a coach. Keep watching these FREE podcasts, and IMPLEMENT the plan. I never got a coach, I'm now debtfree.
You can BORROW his book from the library as well.
The big problem is when a car breaks down the repairs are never cheap and it is only going up because they design cars to only be worked on by the dealership.
I tell people that I am so paid off I don't even pay attention. Life is really great with no bills.
Jade is right about people not knowing how much money they make.
Some people calling in to your show can't articulate what they make.
Learned along time ago never keep up with the Joneses.
We all need to stop spending money and buying things off Amazon Prime.
This is nothing new. People been mismanaging their money for years.😮
There will always be winners and losers in life. Let's choose to be winners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!💰
It’s the peoples fault. The weekend comes and the restaurants are full of people and shopping at the Mall spending the money they don’t have.
It’s just poor money skills. I knew a woman who got a job and spent half of her annual salary on a Tesla. Concerning.
She should have bought a new Rolls Royce. Anything less is uncivilized
@@algoflush1430 Dilly dilly. She is nothing more than an uncultured swine.
I see a lot of 300K houses with two new cars. I don’t know how they make it.
There’s one big problem with this message. Most of the people that need to here this are not listening.
Not long ago, Dave was telling people it was a great time to buy a house and everything would be ok. The real things on the horizon are major job losses, a housing crash, banking collapse, and the collapse of the U.S. dollar.
In NJ with zero debt it costs us $4000 / month just for food, utilities, taxes, and insurance. That’s without vacations or going out to eat.
Move
Your paycheck though is being eaten up by outrageous taxes especially property taxes I moved from the East Coast to a cheaper location. My property taxes are less than 700 a year
Then move across the River. I live in DE and I’m under $1500.
@@blueboat9581 We love our home, the four seasons, our church, our friends. Only thing we hate is our governor and taxes.
When you say insurance, are you referring to auto and home, or health care too?
How big is your family?
I just did this on RC Cola at Walmart… 6.98 nope I’m not going to spend that I’ll do without!!!
Call up your debtors and tell them you aint payin. Keep your hands off of my stash. When you realize the most of the things you are paying for doesnt enrich your life they easier it just became. Do stuff that matters. Heck with all else.
😢 agreed, people are propping up their lifestyle.
This lady is spot on your show should be seen by this nation . Very smart I give this show a thumbs up. Keep up the good work.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not a fun way to live. People don't learn until it's too late.
Great voices, trustworthy information. TY. God bless.
Imagine if people worked together and shared resources versus being isolated in every endeavor …
Most Americans don't live in big cities with public transit. They MUST have a car and cars cost as much as a house these days. The operation of cars is expensive.
>cars cost as much as a house these days
Uh, no.
Good advice.
One of the best convos I’ve ever heard on this show and been watching for a while, great advice all around
Keep that mentality brother, you and I both are on the same wave
Living somewhere where a single family home can be purchased for $150k is key. Keep up the good work brother, I’m jealous
She is spot on
Jade is the cool hip host who always tell the hard truth.
Consumerism is a big problem with way too many people.
That’s what my uncle did he was done paying his Jeep and then it started having to many problems so he went and traded for new Toyota lol and got payments again
It is called the American mentality.

It's going to get tougher and tougher because we're just going to keep printing money like there's no tomorrow because everyone deserves to have everything for free.
