In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
Alex isn't willing to put the duck in the pond himself, but is willing to drive a car with the duck on a string so that it lands in the pond. Asking Alex to participate feels like finding a really roundabout way to ask a genie to kill someone.
No, we don't know what Jon Kearn's genie would have done if he'd just rubbed the lamp.
I suspect it is also a matter of contestant order, since obviously Alex will be making decisions on the spot despite having a general idea of how involved / helpful he wants to be for a task, but above all he'll want to be fair to all contestants. So if you are a Liza who can talk Alex into, say... playing russian roulette with a bb gun for shits and giggles, then that somewhat lowers the barrier for other contestants whose idea of involving Alex isn't quite proposed in as sadistical a flavor. Or expressed differently: Liza is great at proposing madness that makes it sound different than just 'help me' if she asks, whereas other contestants are a lot more mannered by comparison and require someone like Liza to break down Alex' standards a bit beforehand. xD
There’s two explanations: either Alex was willing to let a convoluted manner of being involved count (ie he’s not directly walking it in)…or it’s because it’s Liza Tarbuck…and the show has been somewhat biased towards her on multiple occasions since she was on in the series she won in🙄
I don’t think he “drove” the car. Liza gave it a push to get it going (dubious, in all honesty, but that seemed to be what we are supposed to believe) and he “steered”. Just as with the trolly, only on a bigger scale, Liza provided to motive force and Alex consented to give it some direction.
We can also had she could have been disqualified for not respecting the rule if we want to push it far, the task says at 0:45 "The duck must be launched from behind this rope", and at 8:45 we can see the duck in front of the rope. A small detail yes, but we know they've already disqualified people for such small things xD
PS : English is not my first language so i'm sorry if the sentence are weird or anything.
I like how they had to specify they couldn't move the pond (undoubtely a result of Rhod moving a hole in another seaons)
Ed going "Fuck It" and murdering the duck is my favorite moment in Taskmaster history.
Duck?
What duck?
“The only way I get out of this with any dignity is if I die right now” is such a quintessential taskmaster response to a task gone wrong 😂😂😂
ed mentions on the taskmaster podcast that he knew how badly his filmed tasks had gone (specifically this one), which was why he decided to go all out on the prize task (sending Greg’s head to space) XD
Remember when Ed called the last filmed task of series 9 the worst day of his life? Taskmaster came back with a vengeance and the biggest "bet!" anyone's ever said.
Alex always replies to that with " _so far_ "
I’m convinced there’s a world where Ed’s idea worked amazingly well and would have won the task. It must be possible to execute the idea better than that
You get a long piece of string running from the middle of the pond back to where he has to stand.
You make sure that the string, when it's held tight, is at a steep enough angle that water, plus ducky, would be able to flow down all the way to the pond.
You put together the pipe sections, making sure that they are staying _at least_ as high as the string.
Bish bash bosh, you got yourself a duck floom.
@@Tao_Tology But then the question is can you get all that done in less than 15 minutes to beat Lou?
@@Tao_Tology 200iq move right there
@@NickHoad Concievably.............yes.
Plus, it wouldn't take over 90 minutes. 😏
fill a bucket with water. when duck stops add more flow.
'Taskmaster, Champion of Champions Part 2: The rise and fall of Ed Gamble'
Directed by Zack Snyder, coming soon to a cinema near you.
For the NZ fans, Ed spent more time trying to make the duck go in the pond than David Correos spent trying to eat a grape.
Still not the longest task attempt though, that would go to Morgana taking 1 hour and 45 minutes to bake a cake and then sit on it. Although that worked out for her since she got 6 points from it.
@@iliketrains3495 actually it would techinicallly go to the s15e1 task of putting a ball of string on the cushin, where, at the time of recording, Frankie had 172 days on the clock
This feels like delayed karma for Ed laughing like a psychopath when Alex announced that his old rival David Baddiel took "slightly longer than all four of the others combined" on the lasso task
Alex: No I can't take the duck to the pond for you
Also Alex: Let me drive my car, duck attached, to the pond for you.
He was going over there anyway
The way Ed says "where's he?" Instead of "it" makes him murdering the duck so much more enjoyable XD
2:50 its always great seeing little alex horne break character
The full task should be every single minute of Ed's breakdown.
The utter joy of seeing Ed dressed as an Eastern European choir boy sending his little duck on a journey down a homemade water slide evolve into an Eastern European aristocrat’s son having a proper tantrum bc his duck-slide-based birthday present is rubbish 😂🐤🎀
Why'd they use at least two completely different shots to showcase Lou doing the task. At 6:12 you can see the rope going over the duck's beak, while at 6:16 it doesn't, but at 6:19 it's suddenly resting on the beak again o.O
Poor Ed, he wanted the series of tubes to work so badly even though he knew he'd have to change course to have any hope of ding better than 1 point. It's really stark how people who completely dominated their original season just fall to pieces on CoC, like Noel last time.
Also, IDK how in hte hell one would move a pond, but I love that they preemptively though one of these mad taskers would try it.
Noel didn’t do that badly on COC, but he either won or lost pretty much every task; Bob was the one who really tanked. That’s why I’m going for an unlikely contender in COC3 when that happens
Dig a new hole and transplant the contents.
@@iliketrains3495 True but he got penalized for his non edible mask, which I felt he would have got away with in S4, and he did have a breakdown in the final live task.
This is making me look forward to the 3rd contest of champions with Sarah Kendall, Morgana Robinson, Sophie Duker, Dara Ó Briain, and the most recent winner Mae Martin.
The Champion of Champions of the people who actually tried
I'm less and less a fan of the idea, since the contestants get soooooo little time to compete.
@@Tao_Tology I definitely agree they need at least 5 episodes for these events.
Apparently Mae was unavailable to film the third CoC so series runner-up Kiell took their place. Least, that's what I read.

Love bringing my duck to TH pond, it’s the best of the ponds.
I love that at one point you can see how the sun has moved over the course of Ed trying to get his plan to work.
I really would have loved a two parter, like the first Champion of Champions. I guess it was a scaduling issue. But it was great fun.
Wouldn't "this duck" be a matter of perspective? So if someone read the task silently and then read it out behind the rope (that is to say the other side of the rope) then "this duck" would actually be the one on the statue, and therefore all you would have to do is toss it into the pond.
No - because they have to stand in certain spots and read the task out loud to prevent that sort of thing.
"I've never seen such a well-dressed loser"
*Flashback to Bridget Christie in her Lee Van Cleef get-up asking 150 questions about shoes and visibly annoying Alex*
(Yes I know COC II was filmed before series 13)
Print out 1:55 and put it in a museum. Entitle it, “Humanities Lament.” Ed is the best of us and he too still falters, bless this man 😂
Ed's idea was easily the best. It just suffered a bit in the execution.
@@Taolan8472Agreed! The water pressure of the hose tanked him I think, if it had higher flow/higher pressure he would’ve had more success for sure!
@@phunkybarbieor maybe just duct tape to tie all the pipes together, so you could just focus on the flow height
Two of my favorites, Lou and Kerry, are smashing it as always ❤ Bosh!
We need the full version of this!
It's already been uploaded. It's the second Champion of Champions.
think he meant the task? as in the full unedited 90mins of Ed going mad!@@Francis...
@@andreaskarlsson5251I'd watch it.
Ah yes, TH Pond, a contemporary of TS Eliot I assume?
I want a 20-97 minute cut of Ed's attempt pls
"The only way I get out of this with any dignity, is if I die right now" has to be one of my favorite quotes of all time
A previously unaired task! Yes!! Have been waiting for this
I love hwo they specified that they couldn't move the pond, considering that during another task somebody moved a hole lmao
How?
@@JayTheProtag dug around it.
Is the duck 'in' the pond when it's in a spool and completely dry and above the surface of the water? Am I 'in' the sea if I'm standing of the bow of a cross channel ferry?
I mean if they let Liza's attempt where her or her duck weren't launched from behind the rope go, they can let Kerry's duck being inside the spool go. No one fought it or brought up either point - so they both got that one.
If my math is right:
Ed Gamble: 97:09
Everyone else, combined: 79:55
Fill the duck with water and start chucking and have alex toss it back when you miss. If you get it worked out right you could be taking multiple shots per minute. Heck if Alex really wanted to help you could be doing 4 a minute
I feel like the remote controlled rat was put there to sabotage the contestants, because it looks pretty difficult to control.
This is maybe the best task of all time
Full tasks are the best tasks.
Kerry. Get the duck in the pond. "Alright" Get the bat, BOSH!
Liza's beard is legendary
I remember she had it but didn't even notice it watching this back, it's just so natural on her.
@@user-wm3bf7pi3u I had the opposite impression from "natural"... more like, abhorrent.
Liza's attempt always makes me mad. She was not behind the rope when her duck started moving (was launched from it's resting spot on the ground) she had to run to get there after she "pushed" her duck's mode of transport, and her duck was not behind the rope when it was launched, it's actually in front of the rope, and her attempt was such a cop out - getting Alex to steer his car down and land it in the pond for her. Like she didn't actually do much of anything on her actual, "it counts" attempt. She didn't actually push the car, Alex just let off the brake.
"I'm going to manifest it in" Well you did do that, so that's that!
Declare the water fountain as in front of the rope and then walk over and drop the duck in the pond. You were behind the rope.
3:45 is my kind of fave fake smile
Ed rocking the Sean Wotherspoon's
This is such an smart advertisement for the Ford Motor Co
Poor Ed. Didn't they have any "duck" tape he could use?
I still feel like this is throwable? It’s not that far and the duck doesn’t seem too light…
I was cheering Ed until the end :), if the duck slide all the way to the pond it would be like a dream
The taskmaster is merciful.
The duck in the “bobbin” I think they called it wasn’t in the pond. It was about a foot above the pond.
I just wonder why no-one ordered a courier (glovo, bolt, uber ...) to deliver duck into the pond
wonder how Ed would've done if this was not an early task.. or had some duct tape
on kerry's attempt does anyone else think that the duck is not in the pond its above the pond, the bit of the bobbin the duck is in (i.e. the middle) is not in the pond at all its above the pond how did no one argue this when this went out.
She also moved the rope by touching the rope.
If you drive your car into a lake, and you climb onto the roof of the partway submerged vehicle to call for a rescue, and they ask "where are you," you can honestly say "I'm in the lake." If you say, "I'm on the bit of the car that's not in the lake, so I'm not in the lake" they'll think you're a loony.
@@47Jaspers 1. thanks for the petty attempt at throw cheap insults 2. Things many times that have been way closer to being the 'specific wording of the task' have been disallowed many times and certainly argued most times 3. It's taskmaster it's not what happens in your life show people regularly are incredibly specific of the wording to either find a loophole to make it easier for them or is disallowed because it is not fitting the wording of the task making my point completely valid within the format of the show. But hey thanks for trying to turn it into a cheap way to try and insult me
@@mintomax2 to be fair this is Champion of Champions II, in which there was only one episode, so they likely don't want to hand out disqualifications as it will put the contestant at a tremendous disadvantage when there's very few tasks to redeem themselves. Although that being said I'm pretty sure some New Year's Treat episodes have had DQs
I think the argument can successfully be made that it functions like a boat, so even though it's not physically touching the water, it's still within the bounds of the pond. In theory, if the tape-wrapped ducks were completely sealed in, they wouldn't be "in" the pond either then, it's just a difference of height
He looks like lenin LOL
The bovine throw was amazing, but wouldn't that count as moving the rope upwards? ö
Thank you
You may not move the rope or the pond fixes the loophole of moving the hole.
Oh, Ed.
Could no one throw it far enough to land in the pond? Even if it was strapped to a rock or ball?
I feel like Russel Howard would've just chucked it in first go.
Doubt it. Someone could have reused Tim Key's teabag-throwing tactic but throwing a duck with a lobber would be a lot harder than putting a teabag inside a tennis ball
97 minutes and he still never noticed the key.
I would argue that Richard's duck was not IN the pond but ON the pond. The duck was on the rat that was in the pond.
Ed gamble really looks mad
the duck was in the spool above the pond, not in the pond. the spool was in the pond
th pond 🗿
duck was above the pond not in and hand in frt of the rope --- xxxx DQ
I wonder if it would count if you pulled the duck the Taskmaster statue is holding into the pond with string
My first thought was going into the house and finding a fishing pole lol
But the duck is in the giant bobbin, it's not in the pond. It's not even touching the water.
No different than Liza no actually doing anything for her attempt. Alex did it all for her. Plus neither she nor the duck were behind the rope when it started.

I like the Metallica-like intro tune ❤
what duck?
85% of all tasks can be competed with string.
Wait… what?? What have I missed that Liza not sports a goatee? Ok for the task only. Must have been a dress up thing if I watched the whole episode I’m sure I’d understand.
thumbnail typo lol
Umm...Did that lady have a goatee?? Lol
Will nobody mention how the RC rat and the wooden spindle thing never actually got the duck wet? Is the duck technically in the pond if it never touches the water???
I had the same thought. Easily argued against though so dunno why you would.
Ultimately doesn’t change much though, so who cares

@@tobysimmonds487 Yeah haha or when everyone failed and Greg stood up looking at them like a disappointed teacher. The producers clearly decided beforehand those moments would make for great TV. In this example, it would've had to have been a contestant mentioning it, though it's easy to dismiss...
Here's the next task.

You have one hour.
Your time starts now.
I met Alex Horne at a gloryhole once. He said, "Your time starts now."
And I knew what I had to do.
Liza just having Alex put it in is pretty BS tbh. Especially when you consider that the duck wasn't even behind the rope.
Is this the new season or just a one episode special? Where can us in the US watch? 🙏🤩
Champion of Champions 2
You know, the task doesn't say you have to bring the duck back if you launch it and miss.
Also how many of the contestants actually "launched" the duck?
I would have stood by the pond, thrown the big duck in and said that I was done due to the fact that the task didn't specify which duck needed to enter the pond and wich side of the rope was the front and the back meaning that there was room for interperatation. In my autistic opinion, the pond side of the rope was the back meaning that I would've been behind the rope and i would've got 'the duck' inside of the pond.
So many of the ducks wasn't actually in the pond...
Why the pulley system though... rather than just putting the duck on the far side of the pond and giving the string a little tug... a lot of string.
Edit: Oops. 0:45
because the duck has to start from behind the rope.
@@lweaver2988 - OH, right. 0:45
Had to have been missing something there lol.
Why does she have a goatee during the challenge?
the duck did not end in the pond for most of them
Ed should have been disqualified, he moved the rope
Actually, given thay there were no other instructions, could they have stood behind the rope, handed the duck to alex and said please put this in the pond for me?
One of them tried that. He said no.

Who’s the woman that looks like Alexis faux?
What season / episode is this?
Champion of Champions 2
I would question whether it counts as being 'in the pond' if it hasn't touched the water? So the bobbin and rat attempts both stayed dry, do they count?
I had the same thought. But that would mean Alex declared the task complete when he shouldn't have, so they could just blame him.
Well of course you did, you're amphibious! 😁 Very true though @@AmphibiousGentleman, perhaps he could have asked them if they were happy that they had completed the task as he has done with some other failed tasks over the years.
