I'm from Malaysia but I live in Qatar now. Love your cinematic footage on Kuching and other places. Improving my shooting skills for my next video. See you in Qatar for World Cup 2022
The name of the city , comes from British colonial merchants , name James Brooke He found there were cats lingering the port and hence named it after the local Malay language “Kuching” Nice camera shot ! Thank you 😃
Thank for the positive review. Yes internet is slow on most hotels. But my home internet speed is 470mbps - advertised as 500mbps. It pretty fas for me.
Pascal Basel ahh yeah.. u looked familiar then I remembered I watched your video about cinematic shots for osmo pocket haha. Enjoyed it very much. Kinabalu.. good place to visit.. must drop by Kundasang and Kinabalu Park
Further up the river, on the same side the castle/ fortlike building is the Astana..the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Abt 200 yrs ago, it was built by the Rajah James Brooke. James was a bachelor, so his kingdom passed to his nephew, Charles Brooke. On his death, his son Charles Vyner became the third Rajah..google it, makes interesting reading!
Internet connection..not a problem really. There's many joints and malls giving free wifi all over Kuching. For mobile connection, Maxis has a good and cheap options on their prepaid sims. Ask around and you will get it easily.
I did, if you sometimes need internet it’s okay. But if you need a very fast and stable connection for work it’s a problem. The mobile plans suck as you only have the high speed data available at certain times of the day. If you work over multiple timezones it’s a big problem. Best spot I found (which is actually very good) is Jesses Tea House @ iCom Square. There it’s very stable and fast with 30-50mbps.
@@pascalbasel i see you've explore quite a lot of Kuching. We need more vlogger like you to introduce our unique and beautiful city. Thanks and may you have more success on your channel.
In this video I used the Panasonic GH5, GoPro Hero 6 or 7 (not sure anymore) and the DJI Mavic Air. But in 2020 I would recommend to wait for the Fuji XT4, Canon R5/R6. As a cheaper option, the Panasonic G9 is also a great choice.
slow internet? i think we are quite good here for 4G and LTE internet. or maybe you get the slow internet provider 😂 . btw nice video man ! good to see you loved Kuching !
The problem with 4G/LTE is that all the providers don’t allow tethering in their good (unlimited) plans. I need 60-100gb per months. Sometimes even more. And as most wifis suck there having an unlimited option with tethering or at least high data limits would be great. If you know a good provider with such packages please let me know. I‘m planning to go to Sabah next year.
i always wonder you guys say phone data or home internet because if you guys are talking about data ...depend on some places it is quit bad but if you talking about home internet ... hotels internet is bad but if you buy internet at put at home it is quit good 9(for me )
no hard feeling, but Kuching and generally Sarawak is boring. Compare to Sabah, there's not much Sarawak can offer. Kuching is really a ghost city, quiet and dull.
I am from kuching. Have to agree with you. But Somehow i love it that way.. i can't imagine pulling my hair over traffic jam though.. yeah, we need more development that spur our economy and drive kuching to be more competitive
I'm from Kuching but now working in KL. What i most miss about Kuching is how friendly, united its people and the laid back culture. Malay, Dayak and Chinese sitting on the same table in a Chinese cafe is a normal there something you rarely see in semenanjung. Traffic is good and honking is sacred. Sabah especially KK have more to offer undoubtedly but the city getting more expensive these days, even unfordable to some local Sabahan. Kuching=family oriented, KK=Tourist oriented
Kuching, the place where I growth. Beautiful place. Waterfront is a must when you visit Kuching....
Me too
I love the drone shots. You make Kuching look really beautiful.
Thank you, loved the time in Kuching 😊

You will always find more interesting places than the one you're at right now. Also a lot of people prefer quiet cities like Kuching.

I dread going to KK due to the traffic jam. I also don't feel safe walking alone in KK. The only fun part is island hopping and snorkeling.
