After watching this how-to video on borek from the defacto Albanian food ambassador himself, Action Bronson, you're gonna be making Albanian dishes left and right. Watch as Mr. Wonderful and his aunt teach you how to make borek, a stuffed puff pastry pie of sorts that she fills with sauteed ground beef and onion. This recipe is so good, you'll want to call him BamBamBoreklava. Enjoy.

We nail byrek! In Turkey they call it Arnavut Boregi. My two favorite choices as an Albanian, the cheese, milk, ricotta cheese, eggs mixed as a filling between two thick phylos (byrek me dy pete) and byrek with tomatoes and onions (byrek me qepe e domate). Remember the BEST way of baking a byrek is on saç in wood fire.

The best one has sautéed tomato oninon and dried mint filling, Action Bronson needs some KOS ( sour yogurt) to accompany that it would compliment by cutting the richness. We were grown on byrek and whoever says its not Albanian knows nothing about the popularity and the mastery this dish is prepared with by fast food joints in Albania. Its the fast food of choice like burgers in america or tacos in Mexico. It doesn't matter where it originated no one knows for sure but I can tell you no one does it better than an Albaninan.

Borek is a generic word for pastries etc in Turkish ... there are a million different types, at first I thought she was making Su Buregi but this I have never seen ... Also, he called his aunt Hala hahah .. that is Turkish for aunt. I guess Turkish and Albanian culture/language have some similarities due to the Ottomans. In some other episode this same lady makes Baklava hahah, also Action has like 3 songs that are sampled from Turkish folk/rock (e.g. Easy Rider)
