I used to watch you guys all the time but the video reminds me why I don’t click as much. I own a 2016 GMC Sierra SLT crew 8 speed and I pull a 20 ft ski boat all the time and have had zero problems. Further more, I have had numerous compliments on the truck especially with exterior and interior quality and color of lighting. Go ahead and buy the Ram truck and when your headlights quit from bad wiring harnesses like my neighbors 2014 Ram I will come pick you up.
Anthony Macneil I would have bought a Silverado if I could get a 6.2 in a lower trim I ended up going with a big horn ram with a Hemi the 5.3 just didn’t have enough power for my liking
I get it, people want nice pickup trucks, but whatever happened to the basic pick truck the everyman could afford? I mean outside of used or the absolute barebones tradesman model, does any actually make a truck that the working man can afford anymore at reasonable prices?
Well good luck finding a basic truck at the local dealers. Certainly not where I live. They don't even bring in 2 wheel drives nor regular cabs. Those would have to be ordered if you wanted one.
My ram 1500 express is probably what ur looking for it’s a crew cab with dual exhaust and 20 inch wheels so it looks the part and the interior has some options like power windows carpets power locks and on the fly 4x4. I paid 31 for it brand new ford makes something similar called the SXT package both look the part of an upper trim truck and don’t make u feel like ur driving in a cardboard box going down the road so yes they do exist.
I’m not a rich guy by any means and getting a deal at 31 with a trade in on my old truck and 2 thousand down makes a truck like that very affordable u could even opt for a double cab and save a few bucks there but I have kids and needed the back seat room
Majority of people want all the luxury stuff. Look around most trucks are optioned out. No one pays sticker so that's not even really an issue. I just bought my 2018 ltz 2500 6.6 stickied at 70k i bought for 58k.
TexasScout Noneofyourbusiness My 2005 Mustang has the remote window roll down with the key fob. I love it. I got an early 05 GT before they discontinued it. Its never failed me ie... rolling down on its own. Love the tech stuff
No matter what version you buy, you should have the option to put the 6.2l in it. I'd pay a lot more to upgrade to the 6.2l. And having a short bed single cab with a 6.2l would be so fun to drive!
This truck is way better looking. Especially the bumper steps. Last model looked like they were an afterthought. Now they look very much integrated. I have an ‘18 f150, which i love but i got a lower trim because trucks are supposed to have the shifters on the column. I wanted a king ranch. I’m gonna try and get a 1500 denali end of the year. Fully loaded lux truck with a column shifter like god intended.
I agree it's not a good looking truck, from the front at least. The general feedback I've seen and heard is most people agree they made the truck uglier from the outside.
Agreed bought a 18 High Country 6.2L just because I don't like the next-generation they totally ruined the look and from what I see most agree. Gezzzz GM get back to the drawing board before sales go down further!!!
I test drove a 2018 Sierra Denali with the 6.2 (if going for a full size truck, go big). It was going for a great year end deal (something around $44K). It drove like a dream, and gracefully floated over potholes and bumps in the road -- Great truck. I was seriously considering buying it, but common sense got the better of me and I just could not pull the trigger on something that got such horrible MPGs (this would be my daily driver). Instead I ended up getting a 2019 Canyon All Terrain with the 2.8L diesel. I think it was a great choice and I love the truck. It fits in the garage a lot better too.
I'd love to transplant that 6.2x10 into my 14. I love what they're doing with the inside of these trucks, but can't say the same for the outside. In my opinion they did the best on the 14-15 because they had that old school CK1500 kinda vibe like my 94 so of course I loved it, the 16-18 just looked too much, and the big chunk of chrome on the headlights looked tacky, triangle headlights in a square housing.
All I need to see is the speedometer at 65 and the tach at the same time. It will tell me all I need to know about how good it tows and the mileage you and expect on the flat.
L Rizo true, the 47re and 48re weren’t too great. After being built they were ok. I’d only take a manual in the older Cummins. The new autos are pretty reliable. Also the Allison in the Duramax is very expensive to repair
Not a truck...but I have a 2013 Hyundai Genesis sedan with the 5.0 engine (429hp) 8 speed transmission with 100k miles. Drives like a dream Maintain the vehicles and they will be fine.
GM really dropped the ball with the small gas tank. 26 and 28 gallon fuel tank is not enough, especially when you tow in remote areas where gas stations are few and far between.
My 2016 has a 26 gallon fuel tank, and I get about 15-17mpg on the highway when towing. Although my 2003 had a 36 gallon fuel tank (which was nice), I would only get 10 mpg when towing with that truck. So my 2016 was going further with the 26 gallon tank than my 2003 with a 36 gallon tank. Although, it would be nice to have a larger tank like the Fords have. I wonder if it has something to do with weight reduction to achieve better fuel economy. You're guess is a good as mine.
sreilly how heavy of trailer are you towing on the highway? My experience towing with a 2016 5.3/6 speed/3.42 it got 9 mpg and it struggled to hold 65 up a hill with a 6000 pound tritoon boat behind it. On the highway the 26 gallon tank is perfectly fine as these trucks get good fuel economy unloaded. I’m sure GM did t for weight reduction, but seems silly that a larger gas tank isn’t an option.
maybe its the object your towing, its not the weight that always matters. I tow 7,000 consistently about once a month i live in the PNW very mountainous terrain , my ,,,,5.3/6 speed/3.42/4wd/crew cab,,,, got 12mpg pretty routinely again that's towing through the mountains. Towing a low deck car hauler and a slammed truck. truck weighs over 4k trailer should be around 3k so 7k ish. maybe more. i would get up to 15/16 mpg on the very flat areas.
Cars And Zebras damn! I once had a '94 Cheyenne that had a 44 gallon tank. I would starting pumping fuel when it was low, and pull out the newspaper and start reading. It was painful watching the cost of that fuel for a truck that may be got 12 mpg haha!
@@bradzimmerman3171 With e85, since the 5.3 is flex fuel, its almost already 400hp. I think it is 380hp/416tq on E85. Still, I would take the 6.2 any day everyday. The torque is just not there on the 5.3, and a truck needs torque.
Intake will do squat. It gets plenty of air stock and a CAI will do shit. Exhaust maybe maybe a tiny becuse the stock muffler is restricted. Source own a 5.3 with a flowmaster Super 10 (most open muffler possible).
Also every tuning will tell you to use premium gas which is BAD for the 5.3. If its not designed for premium you shouldnt use it EVER look up a video on this.
I had the pleasure to get a new 2019 gmc 1/2 ton as a loaner vehicle. Put about 200 miles on it. What I immediately noticed was the lag in the start stop mode. Not exactly an instant on feature. I found the transmission was having issues finding the correct gear. If you hardly mashed it would hesitate, if you mashed it hard it shifted more like my 6 speed. The ride is somewhat lumpy with the factory tires. It breaks well, and when you floor it has great power.
Been driving trucks my whole life, 69 years old now, and every semi trailer brake control ahs always, ALWAYS, been on the right side. Originally on right side of steering column, but lot of newer trucks have it mounted on the dash, ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
Chevy's are always kicking it towing - MPG better than ford turbo, totally reliable while two Fords have broken down on TFL, yet Roman always comes out with these nitpicks about button placement or the gas tank.
Well let's be honest, Roman has clearly been a Ford guy most if not all of his life. He probably hasn't looked at all the issues the Ecoboosts have and he wouldn't risk mentioning it in a video. The 2016-17 2.7 Ecoboosts have some major problems with the heads and the 3.5 Ecoboost was notorious for stretched timing chains, cam phaser issues, thrown rods, turbo failures, misfires, etc.
Glad to see the trailer towing information on the sticker without having to chase down specifics. Nit happy they did the tow pulling only 6000 lbs on both trucks. Can’t compare it to other tests on the Ike gauntlet with the lighter weights. Also looks like they wanted to brag about fuel mileage when not towing by putting in a smaller gear ratio. Glad to see the bigger rear seat leg room. Good first quick review. We will wait for the real review against a huge hill and the Ford ecobeast. Hey guys Apples to Apples next time.
This to me is why people now days have issues. Got to get the new iphone x, while they are sitting one a 800 dollar iphone 8. Trading up every year because something has 10 more hp. Hey, i can tow 12,800 lbs and you can only tow 11,500. Hey, chevy sucks because they don't have turbos, Ford sucks because they don't have coil springs, ram sucks because fiat owns them. Disappointed? if you are than you should be disappointed with your life!
Well someones butthurt! No I just seeing if anyone thought the same way I do about how the news trucks look. I don't trade up hardly ever, I buy it, maintain it, and update when needed. I drive a 13 2500 HD gas, it has over 100k on it. Don't want to trade soon, and it tows and hauls for a living. So blow it out your ass if you're gonna make some horseshit assumptions...
All I'm gonna say is GM is the only one of the big three with a female CEO and they also seem to be the only one of the three that doesn't understand the modern truck market.
I love Chevy trucks, this new one is growing on me. But am I the only one who thinks they had it perfect 2014-2015, it literally was a revamped OBS. It was perfect.. Hopefully this one will grow on me more.
Complaining about fuel tank size exposed your ignorance. At 14+ mpg towing (real world observed fuel economy on a 500 mile trip) you're stopping for reasons OTHER THAN fuel.
I own a 2018 Sierra with a 5.3. Even if you don’t tow the 6.2l makes a big difference out on the highway especially if you add taller tires. My 5.3 is constantly downshifting on highway inclines. The 80 ft lbs of torque difference is huge in these scenarios. The 6.2 feels much more powerful than the numbers imply IMO.
@@shawnhenaman6448 you need a 3.73 axle Ratio gearings to pull up to 10,900 pounds weight trailer fully loaded for 5.3L V-8 355 HP automatic unless you have a Weight Distribution hitching connection to truck and trailer to being able to pull up to 16.700 fully loaded trailer.
Everyone seems to enjoy criticizing GM interiors and exterior so much, I'm baffled. I am drawn to the basics, a pick-up truck should have a V8 engine, or diesel engine for towing, today's pick-up trucks are now being manufacture with twin turbo charged V6, V4's, 5 years down the line, how reliable can these engines be? I'm a die hard GM fan, because GM engines are (Naturally Aspirated), No technology to create more horse power, just simple (V8) engine ability. I have the Chevy Silverado crew cab with the (5.3) V8 and it pulls wonderfully, and when it's not working or pulling a load, the tires scream when I punch the accelerator from a dead stop, a testament to what a pick up should do, In my opinion the 5.3 or 6.2 liter engine in a GM truck, is truly a mans' TRUCK!!!!!!!!! Wonderful review TFL, but remember, the average man does not want to spend a whole lot of time at the dealership trying to figure out what went wrong with one of the (turbo) ports, when he can be preparing to pull the next load with a GM truck!!!!!
I have a 7600 pound dry 37 foot travel trailer. I’ve towed it with my 2011 6.2/3.42 geared Silverado then my 2015 3.73 geared Sierra with 5.3. Even though the 5.3 was rated to tow more than the 6.2 it was no where near as good as the 6.2.
L Rizo Doubtful even GM is so pathetically needy that they have to buy plastic bits from Ford. My guess is they have a large residual parts inventory from Pontiac laying about.
I actually really love the button that controls all the windows at once, seems silly but its something i would use daily in the summer monthes. The little things make the difference.
The blacked out front ends look mean. And its about time the rounded the wheel wells. Still curious if they will develope a ZR2 Silverado.....or maybe a Raptor fighter.
You're right about the fuel tank. It's not big enough at all. I have to stop every 200 miles for fuel while towing my 7,000 lb trailer. However I am on 35's with a 6" lift and 3.23 gears.Thankfully I don't tow often but I'll definatley be doing a gear swap soon!
The 5.3L is kind of gutless for a 2018 V8. The 2003 Dodge Hemi had 345 hp and 375 tq and 15 years later all GM can do is 355 hp and 383 tq? Yes, the 6.2L has impressive power numbers, but that 5.3L is a wimp.
ib516 those hemis are broke down for the most part now, the early 2000s dodges had horrible transmissions, you see tons of those old 5.3s with over 200k on them still running, 355 hp and 383 ftlbtqe is plenty of power with 8 gears to go through, you don't need maximum power everyday, if you want more power get a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton truck, that 5.3 with 8 gears is plenty for the average pick up owner, yeah hemis are good engines but when they are paired to the most unreliable transmissions, what's the point? I assume the transmission issue is fixed now but idk, I worked for a company that had lots of fleet trucks it was a mixture of the big 3, and the most unreliable were the rams, they would stay broke down, the Cummins did fine, the gas trucks were horrible, we had a powerstroke that was junk you hooked a trailer to it and every time it blew the turbo, the most reliable truck they had was a 2012 4.8 liter Chevy 375k miles and the old 4 speed transmission both were original, as far as I know the truck is still on the road, and the truck is dogged, it's over loaded more than it is underloaded, plus since it has flashing lights it idles all day long except for at gas stations and lunch break, the 4.8s are the same motor as the 5.3, the only difference is the 5.3 has scoped pistons and the 4.8 has flat top pistons, if those ls motors were junk people wouldn't be doing ls swapps on everything.
Samuel Clark hopefully the newer 5.3’s will last as long as the older ones. With all the new technology it’s hard to tell how well they’ll perform ten years for now
Samuel Clark 4.8 is also a shorter stroke than the 5.3. Dished pistons do not equate to lower displacement. I do however, agree with you. Those ls based small blocks have certainly proven to be a totally reliable engine.
I drive only E85 and with my 5.3 I have 380Hp with 420lbs of torque. I do lose MPG for that extra power but on a no wind day I can still squeak out 19-20mpg with E85. Not so much with a head wind! :) I have a 2015 GMC Sierra All-Terrain and I must say both new models are BUTT ugly.
GM fanboy here, I love the 6.2. Family members own two. Test drove several with and without Max Tow.I wanted a 6.2. But since GM chooses to paywall kickass options like the 6.2 behind expensive option packages full of crap I dont want or need. I decided to test drive their competition and came home with a Ram Laramie with a Hemi 3.92 gears. Power wise its leaps and bounds above the 5.3 and so close to the 6.2 that it isn't worth 1 dollars difference. Not to mention the better ride, comfort and a 7yr unlimited mileage Mopar extended warranty for less than GM's 100k mile warranty.
Personally I find it weird that the more powerful truck is rated to tow less. They should have fixed whatever they needed to for the 6.2 to tow at least the same if not more.
T Ritchie its all based on axle weight. The heavyer the engine and tranny combe means the less you can tow. Adding heavy leather seats amd other fancy stuff means it can tow even less.
Here’s something you probably don’t know and I wish it would make National News. We bought a new 2019 Silverado High Country , to replace our 2003 Chevy Tahoe, to tow our new trailer. The trailer was 400 pounds over what the Tahoe could tow. Now the problem with the Silverado. It doesn’t recognize LED trailers. I’ve taken it to Chevy 3 times to correct the problem, but they failed all 3 times. There’s a recall on the 7 Pin Connector. The computer controls the 7 Pin Connector and with LED trailer lights, no resistance is coming back to the computer from the trailer lights. When the trailer is plugged into the 7 Pin Connector, with nothing running, the trailer lights strobe or pulse. You can be camping or just stopped at a restaurant and the trailer lights will be strobing. The Silverado doesn’t supply a steady 12 volts to the trailer. The mastermind who designed this system should be fired. The biggest issue is, the factory installed camera on the trailer, doesn’t deliver a steady picture to the monitor, because of the pulsing power to the trailer, which is a major safety issue. The service guys at the dealership told me, not one of their high end trucks work with an LED trailer. Please let the public know about this issue
Now that a volume of models and colors are being shown my impression of it is much better than its initial launch. I don't understand why GM is so secretive.
If Chevy was serious about towing, they'd add a larger fuel tank for improved range while towing. Ram, Ford, and Toyota offer the large gas tanks. Very necessary for long range. But hey, lets all worry about how big the info screen is.
Mr. Truck I have a 2011 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 AWD with the 6.2L V8, 3:42 gears, with the max tow package. It is rated at 9,600 lbs of max towing and a payload of a little over 1600 lbs. Now this truck has a full time AWD system, so my question is: Is this a good towing truck? Will it tow a trailer of 7,000 lbs state to state? What about a small 5th wheel? Say under 7,000 lbs? I can’t seem to find anything on towing on this model! I know other gmc sierras 5.3L with 3:73 gears 2WD and 4x4 can tow 5th wheels, but their is. Otho g on the Denali 1500 AWD?… I have the bigger engine! I also have a upgraded Exhaust, and a cold air intake system that goes all the way to the bottom of the bumper… so the power is their but I heard this trucks are no good for towing? Is this true? And can I tow a older smaller 5th wheel?
I have the 8 speed right now and absolutely hate it unless I’m towing something. It’s clunkier than a person learning how to drive stick. I wonder if the 10 speed is better
@@chrissambol With the 10 speed and the 17 modes of operation in the 6.2, it is smooth as glass. You don't really know what all is happening but it is a great match and if just goes like hell.....
Robert Applegate A few months ago I traded the 8speed 5.3 in for the 6.2 10 speed. It’s a lot more expensive but WELL worth it. That 6.2 sounds so damn good too with the borla atak
I owned a GMC truck with a 5.3 and 3:73 gears. Great truck except when you hooked a trailer to it. I towed a 6000 pound trailer with it and it spent most of the time downshifting into second gear and screaming. The salesman assured me that it would out tow the Dodge with a 5.9 magnum and 3.92 gears I traded in on it, not true! I kept the GMC for 120000 miles then traded it in on a Ram with 5.7 Hemi and 3.92 gears. Day and night difference! The Ram will tow the same load on the same road in 4th gear. The GMC wouldn't tow a empty 1100 pound rampgate trailer empty in 4th gear. I have never owned a 6.2 in a GM truck but that appears to be the ticket.
I'd be sold if I could get a 2500 crew cab with the 6.2L, but no we either have the age old 6.0 or the duramax that would not be cost effective for me. Like someone else said I'd love to see the 6.2 used across the board!
im having a hard time finding the actual numbers and of course it would depend on several option choices.... But, i'd be willing to bet with the lower first gear ratio in the ten speed 4wd hi paired with the new 10 speed in first gear is probably fairly close to the old 4l60 or 4l80 in 4wd low final ratio. but idk for sure.
Jason Larsen You don't need tow mirrors to tow a 16 foot enclosed trailer lol. Tow mirrors on a dinky 1500 make me laugh. I don't even have tow mirrors on my power wagon, they look dumb as hell and really don't offer any real benefit. Cameras are so much more useful.
Weak stats? Since when is a 12,000 lb tow rating "weak"? Weak is a bed made out of thin aluminum held together with rivets It takes time to completely redesign a truck. The 2007-2018 trucks all shared a lot of components, so GM could have a lot more of the trucks ready sooner. The 2019 truck has a totally new frame design, totally new cab, totally new bed, totally new suspension, new 10-speed, new diesel engine, new turbocharged engine, new axles made in Michigan, updated 8-speed, re-designed 5.3 and 6.2, etc. That shit takes time and money, it's not going to be ready all at once. Incomplete engine lineup? How long did it take Ford to even get a 2018 F-150 diesel out for a test drive? Where is the 2019 Ram Ecodiesel? It wasn't too hard for Ram to have more ready at launch, the 5.7 hasn't changed in 10 years and the transmission is supplied by an outside company.
I’m pretty sure 5.3 comes in a 10 speed for Chevy. I have the 5.3 in the AT4 and it came with a 10 speed. Wondering if it was a recent update on the newer models .
The smart thing to do is to not get a 2019 ram 1500 and wait until 2021 or so when all the bugs should get worked out. I already hear common issues with the 19's like the infotainment bugging out. I appreciate that Dodge, or in this case ram is always stirring the pot in the truck market but it sadly has left the brand with a bad reputation for quality. E-torque is sure to have issues down the road as well. It just can't be perfect on their first try. I could never buy a ram with e-torque until it's well proven.
That new grille looks like it means business,..nice design GM! When you guys revved up each truck to hear the exhaust note,.it sounded like the 5.3 was beefier.( to me, it did)
Neur0bit Well I have been wrong before. I heard them say you can get a 38 in the tundra? I mean it’s cause the get ass mileage. And honestly the Silverado has had a 26 gallon tank since like 07.
Adam Brown Yeah, I’ve heard the Tundras have humongous tanks. I didn’t know the chevy’s where so small. Well, not that small, but for a 6.2 meant for towing def small. My RAM std is 26, but I have the 33 (option at least). Same with Fords. I think 26 std and 31 or 32 optional. Cheers!

Whoever designed that truck needs to be fired. I’m not a new Chevy guy but the previous model was a damn good looking truck.
Nathan Brown this new truck looks 10x better. Quality looks to have moved above rental as well.
Nathan Brown Completely disagree. Seeing this truck more and more makes me realize how ugly the current one is.
I want to see a comparison between the two with the Max Tow package, which gets you the 3.42 axle.
Driving the new Silverado in Wyoming ! It doesn't get anymore better than that 🤠
5.3 sounds better than the 6.2
I’m a GM fan so I watched this video out of sincere interest. The longer it went the more thankful I was that I drive K2500 Duramax.
That truck is bad ass
I'm going to the Chevy dealer Friday hopefully I drive off the lot with one
Did u?
Yeah man. That’s not right. Keep us updated
I like the sound of the 6.2
You should watch for the Performance Package, the sound is after market serious!
That's a 6.2 LS... One of the great engines of our time!
Not an LS, it's an LT
Lt series direct injection and variable cam timing
Yes I like the 6.0 too they good platforms
Camera guy in the back seat didn't smile on the left hand, full on 5.3 throttle take off. But he sure did smile on the 6.2 full throttle take off.
I’d hate to pay for a transmission rebuild on these new vehicles
JustJay 0312 age old statement probably started in 1920.
JustJay 0312 then you should really stay away from the ram Cummins. Those things have more training issues than granny issues
L Rizo true, the 47re and 48re weren’t too great. After being built they were ok. I’d only take a manual in the older Cummins. The new autos are pretty reliable. Also the Allison in the Duramax is very expensive to repair
JustJay 0312 or the cylinder select
Not a truck...but I have a 2013 Hyundai Genesis sedan with the 5.0 engine (429hp) 8 speed transmission with 100k miles. Drives like a dream
Maintain the vehicles and they will be fine.
Glad to see Mr. Truck....that guy is awesome.
Can you believe you can get a 38 gallon tank in a Tundra??? Massive.
Cars And Zebras damn! I once had a '94 Cheyenne that had a 44 gallon tank. I would starting pumping fuel when it was low, and pull out the newspaper and start reading. It was painful watching the cost of that fuel for a truck that may be got 12 mpg haha!
4-window-open-button would be useful if you notice blue light behind you.
It would be nice to see the tack every once in a while on these test
I roll all 4 windows down here in South Texas during the summer. It gets a little warm in there.
I'm old school. Bigger engines just tickle my fancy!
I’m a Honda truck guy and the absolute most important thing about a truck is how it looks. Nobody makes a better looking truck then Honda.
I take the 6.2, please. Hey Tommy. Every truck should have at least a 36 gallon gasoline tank.
all the 5.3L needs is cold air intake and dual exhaust and performance tune up will make 400HP easy
Ha jag you are so funny (GM funny, chinamotors goofy)
@@bradzimmerman3171 it's true some chevy 1500 come at 400 hp from the dealership..... with a exhausts and air intake....why you hating.
How Spoiled are we when an 8" Color Touch-Screen display seems so 1999? ;)
I like the RAM’s screen !!
Ya. The steering wheel thing is definitely personal opinion. I like the thin wheel ,it's a throwback to the 70's .
A gas mileage comparison would have actually been useful.
26 gallon tank would be a deal breaker for me when it comes to towing my travel trailer.
The 2016-17 2.7 Ecoboosts have some major problems with the heads and the 3.5 Ecoboost was notorious for stretched timing chains, cam phaser issues, thrown rods, turbo failures, misfires, etc.
hochhaul uh no.
Fords have been out towing GM for a long time now.
^ ignores all the facts that the f150 are loaded with problems. nice dodge there. but you're wrong
That's a strange comment. All the Chevy guys I know complain that their trucks don't tow well at all. One of them switched to Ford and loves it.
Anyone else a little disappointed with the new GM truck offerings? They don't seem to lead the pack with anything that makes a truck a truck!
So blow it out your ass if you're gonna make some horseshit assumptions...
geez. take that plug out yer arse.... Hold your breath, count to 10. And count your disappointed blessings.
All I'm gonna say is GM is the only one of the big three with a female CEO and they also seem to be the only one of the three that doesn't understand the modern truck market.
Jellyfrosh yet gm still sells the most pick up of any brand. How can they not understand to e truck buyers if this and is a fact.
The 6.2 feels much more powerful than the numbers imply IMO.
change in intake on the L86 to a LT1 intake and pickup 40HP...460HP truck motor
My dad hauled out 14000 pound trailer with our 5.3 2005 Silverado with 3.42 gears. It didnt like it but it did it.
The persons that designed that front end should be FIRED!
Patrick Seals I agree front is ugly!
And the wheel wells loooks like a ford
I disagree.
totally agree. its awful looking. my coworker has a 2017 and it looks so much better than this new design.
Finally someone agrees!!
I love the window all down button... the 4runner and taco need that
GM really loves bulbus plastic interiors. Must have some old Pontiac designers still on payroll.
CMac well everyone says they are trying to copy Ford so maybe that's where they got all that plastic idea for the interior's from
L Rizo Doubtful even GM is so pathetically needy that they have to buy plastic bits from Ford. My guess is they have a large residual parts inventory from Pontiac laying about.
My thought exactly. It looks like the dash parts were all taken from the 90's.
Is that a Toyota in your picture? And you want to talk about shitty interiors.... LOL
Thunder Butt I’d like to see a Grand Prix transmission at 322k lol and how many fuel pumps have you went through? 20?
I actually really love the button that controls all the windows at once, seems silly but its something i would use daily in the summer monthes. The little things make the difference.
I'm waiting for brand new GMC
We will be driving the GMC next week.
oh man. that's gonna be such a nice truck.
The Fast Lane Truck 👍🏻🙂😍😘
Just bought the GMC Elevation pkg truck with 5.3. Love it.
The blacked out front ends look mean. And its about time the rounded the wheel wells. Still curious if they will develope a ZR2 Silverado.....or maybe a Raptor fighter.
I just bought a black RST all star edition. Love the look of the front end!
Another vote for the 6.2 in a single cab short bed !! Seems GM always tells their customers what they should have, verses what they want.
But you forgot about the 6.0Lvortec Chevy had in 2003 345hp and 380ft lbs of torque which was also in the GMC Sierra 1500
Car And Driver achieved 0-60 in 6.1 seconds with the 2019 5.3l. You sure leaps and bounds?
@@PlayWaves1 Drive a 6.2 10 speed, a 5.3 10-speed & a Ram 5.7 with 3.92 then get back to me.
E.DUNN but would you say the 6.2L would last longer if maintained well?, and would it tow better within its tow range?
I dont really like how it looks. Previous gen was BEAUTIFUL
Agreed I bought me a 2019 legacy silverado custom black love the front end 👌
Would love to see same truck tested tow haul vs non tow haul mode
Guess its just me, I really like the front end. Only suggestion is to improve interior plastics. But GM makes a hell of a truck!!
I'm with you!
Looks alright but I like my 2019 custom legacy 5.3 v8 front better 😜
Hey guys.. not sure what the trailer itself weighs in at, but your cargo is approx 3360lbs. Just a fyi.. happy haulin..
This new design is really starting to grow on me.
Now that a volume of models and colors are being shown my impression of it is much better than its initial launch. I don't understand why GM is so secretive.
Same thing happened to me. I'm liking it a lot more.
Are you one of those peeps that liked the square wheel wells?
yup!
grow on me like toenail fungus
If Chevy was serious about towing, they'd add a larger fuel tank for improved range while towing. Ram, Ford, and Toyota offer the large gas tanks. Very necessary for long range. But hey, lets all worry about how big the info screen is.
I thought this was a towing video. All I’ve heard is how thick the steering wheel is or complaining about the seat.
Love the Michigan plates👍🏻
Would like to have seen weight towed in the 8K-10K range. More practical. 6K is for is small trucks.
And can I tow a older smaller 5th wheel?
that 8 speed has a rough lockdown at low speeds, I've had this transmission flashed a couple times now
Did you ever get your issue fixed?
Imagine having to fill 38 gallons with these gas prices
Technically Mr truck, the sticker on the door jam doesn't tell you what it can tow it just tells you what it's "rated" to tow. 😉
The look of these trucks is growing on me
Samuel Clark First GM truck design that got me excited in a long time. Really digging the look.
I'd be sold if I could get a 2500 crew cab with the 6.2L, but no we either have the age old 6.0 or the duramax that would not be cost effective for me. Like someone else said I'd love to see the 6.2 used across the board!
I'm not too concerned about the 3.23 gearing with that transmission, but I like having 4-Low. Still not sure what to make of that two tone interior.
im having a hard time finding the actual numbers and of course it would depend on several option choices.... But, i'd be willing to bet with the lower first gear ratio in the ten speed 4wd hi paired with the new 10 speed in first gear is probably fairly close to the old 4l60 or 4l80 in 4wd low final ratio. but idk for sure.
Good point. If it has some sort of gear limiter and you lock it into first or second, maybe that would be good enough.
Cars And Zebras
Z71 Off Road package comes with 4-Low if you need it. It's your choice when you buy.
You can still get a 2-speed transfer case. Only certain configurations will come with a 1-speed TC.
Does the 6.2 l require premium fuel?
Yes love my 18 High Country 6.2L
The 5.3 sounds impressive.
Funny, the 5.3 in my 2000 can haul as much as a new 5.3. What am I getting out of a new one exactly?
Why GM being so lame with the 2019 launch? Incomplete engine line up. Inviting the press to tow with a truck with weak stats and now tow mirrors.
@@WilliamStewart1 tow mirrors add 10 hp
I towed a 26 foot travel trailer with out them as well. However if your a multi billion dollar company launching a new truck......
Weak stats? Since when is a 12,000 lb tow rating "weak"? Weak is a bed made out of thin aluminum held together with rivets
It takes time to completely redesign a truck.
They launched the 2019 way back in 2017 lol. Its an old new truck already.
I’m pretty sure 5.3 comes in a 10 speed for Chevy. I have the 5.3 in the AT4 and it came with a 10 speed. Wondering if it was a recent update on the newer models .
Thanks Mr truck😃
You're welcome
Teton Pass would be a good towing /braking test, it's a 10% grade. Beautiful truck!
as a GM guy, the new dodge is much more appealing
Well, Dodge doesn't make trucks anymore, but I know what you're saying, and agree.
their quality is garbage tho.
LBJ Media Iam a Ford guy and the new ram is pretty nice waiting for the new eco!
The GMC Sierra looks way better than this Silverado.
I wish truck review channels would appreciate the simplicity of older trucks instead of marking down the trucks that don’t have as much tech.
I want to see one lifted to convince me of the redesign
That new grille looks like it means business,..nice design GM!
When you guys revved up each truck to hear the exhaust note,.it sounded like the 5.3 was beefier.( to me, it did)
For sure beefier
Don't worry, it isn't....
Only 26 max gal tank? That's a fail on a pickup truck. Specially if you tow.
Neur0bit I believe for a 1500 truck it’s just about normal. Think ford f150s are smaller and I dont know about dodge.
Adam Brown Fords you can get 31 or 32 I believe. I have a 33 gal on my 2019 RAM ( or 26)
Neur0bit Well I have been wrong before.
Cheers!
Neur0bit I believe the 6.2 got the best towing mpg out of all half tons? Least compared to the ford I know it was better.
geez... I just watched the 2019 ram video and the ram makes this chevy look about 10 years old.
But the Ram wont get to 10 years old, it will be in the junkyard by then
