Victorious to me is a better show with a much stronger cast. One thing I’d give iCarly over Victorious is there’s a semblance of continuity and clearer plot progression. But victorious is a more fun show to go back and rewatch for me, the cast is just so varied and fun to watch interact. Though one can argue iCarly’s main cast is better written overall.
Totally agree, I love both shows but Victorious 1% more cause they have more main characters and it's fun to see what they'll do next in each episode. But icarly is also great cause they're story was more well driven

As early as the Bird Scene episode he’s a stealth mentor, teaching Tori not to ask others how well she performed.
In season 1 she wasnt stupid. She was just random at times and that was ok. season 2 and thereafter was when she really acted dumb
I personally prefer iCarly because the atmosphere felt more raw, like you were watching people's daily lives unwind. Victorious felt more artsy and theatrical, which I do love, because it only ever revolved around the school. Even in different settings, the events still surrounded Hollywood Arts. To me that sort of closed off the rest of the world, which I love in a live performance but in film not as much. As for iCarly, it was still creative in the webshow but it didn't feel closed off from everywhere else. Events and scenarios had occurred whether it based on the webshow, the school, Groovy Smoothies, etc.

From what I remembered of iCarly, I didn't find either Sam or Spencer to be *entirely* stupid. Sam is book dumb, yeah, but with her lawlessness, she still thinks out of the box. She's street smart. Spencer less so, as he holds the manchild ball *a lot,* but at the same time I feel like it takes a lot of out of the box thinking to approach situations from an artistic angle. I think the problem hinges more on them existing as the butt of jokes, compared to creating plots that deal with their mental strengths.
But that's just from what I remembered of the show.
I liked that iCarly wasn't bound to the webshow. You shouldn't be bound to a concept, you should expand on it. I liked that the show was entertaining with the webshow in the plot and without.
Icarly deserves more credit in how it related to its central theme. The icarly web show itself may have not been funny, but the award shows, webacon, production differences or whatever situation the gang found themselves in because of the web show was done flawlessly. And although Victorious did a spectacular job at infusing music, it didn’t use all its characters, even though they were performers! Icarly was sam, Freddie and Carly, all the time. Even though the web show itself was named after Carly, the writers always treated them as an ensemble rather than shove one character down our throat the way victorious did. Regardless, I love both shows equally and I love both of your channels. Thanks for the content!

How did victorious not use all its characters literally every episode was about a character who had to do something art related even the side character like sinjin production and lighting was his thing. Your comment doesn’t make any sense.

I do like the "random = funny" kind of humor, but I felt like iCarly has like, wayyyy too much of it. I like random stuff when you don't expect them, but in iCarly I feel like every single moment something random is about to happen, especially on the actual webshow.
For me, Victorious takes it big time. Victorious is really one of the best sitcoms I ever watched.

i enjoy victorious more because of the side characters. in icarly, sam was the only one that stood out to me as funny. but victorious just has such great side characters that’s so entertaining. cat, jade, trina, andre, robbie, sikowitz ect.

Sam _is_ the only character I *really* like from"iCarly"but I don't _dislike_ Carly and Freddy. On the other hand...I go from not caring about to disliking to hate literally *every-single-character* of "Victorious"!No exception whatsoever!Examples...I don't care about Beck,I dislike Tori and I hate Trina.
Sam certainly is not an idiot. Sure she's not booksmart like Carly and Freddie, but she is definitely streetsmart and outwits the guys on the show all the time.
Both are amazing shows. Really love them. ICarly somehow has better writing, Victorious has better character development.

I disagree. Beck, Andre, and Trina stayed the same throughout the show. In terms of becoming a better person Sam's development was way better than Jade's (thanks to Carly and Freddie). Freddie has become way more confident in himself as the show went on. Cat just became dumber. I'd say the only exception of any real development was Tori becoming a bit of a better friend and Robbie using Rex less frequently.
@@protog2663 Robbie has the biggest character development. He used Rex less and became more outgoing, began talking back to people and even at least not show signs of fear, had the guts to write a song for Cat, said brave words to her, kissed her smoothly even showed his talent which helped him become the toaster of Hollywood Arts and made half of the people that didn’t like at first in the first two seasons all of a sudden become fans of him.
This is coming from an icarly fan is that victorious felt like you were all friends with them and it was a comfort show although icarly was a sitcom
I feel like the Icarly cast overall had better chemistry. Looking at Carly and Sam, their on camera and off camera dynamic is so natural and fun. And their funny banter is what made them famous in the first place. It’s difficult to name a friendship in victorious that’s nearly as iconic. Andre and Beck are claimed to be best friends, yet we don’t really see them hang out with each other. We have Jade and cat, but it feels like a very toxic friendship where Jade is always bossing her around and yelling at her when cat is enjoying herself.
When it comes to sibling relationships, it’s always depicted how much Carly and Spencer love each other. You were always see them joke around being sarcastic towards one another and it’s a really fun dynamic to see. With Tori and Trina however, we mainly only see them bickering, screaming, competing or being annoyed and you get the sense that they are just trapped with each other instead of them truly loving each other.
Jade and cat was suppose to be a toxic relationship. Tori and Andre is the iconic relationship from victorious. I liked Andre dynamic with jade and beck I don’t remember ever hearing Andre and beck are best friends.
Dont get me started on the toxicity of Sam or how they both used Freddie. Do you know what a real friend is? There is no realistic way Sam and Carly would be friends in real life
Miranda and Jerry were both on Drake and Josh so I think that helped the on screen chemistry.

icarly is better way better continuity,the cast developed better throughout the seasons,way more episodes and it actually had a series finale,more nostalgic(atleast to me),better humor,better written episodes, victorious is great too but the only thing it has over icarly imo is just music lol

To me I think Victorious may have better writing in terms of maturity but the delivery for iCarly was something that didn't feel one sided. There were so many moments and episodes that I can remember from iCarly than Victorious
I think what makes both shows hard to compare is the audience it's written for. Although it isn't a huge age gap iCarly started out for children 6 and older and set up characters and jokes to be liked by kids while Victorious came to supplement the teens aging out of iCarly who needed edgier and more relatable characters. As a network both shows together airing at it's time is genius

I think I like the concept and idea of Victorious more than the show itself. A parody of the journey to Hollywood stardom and what it entails.
The first season and part of season 2 were great. Season 3 is unwatchable
I vote Victorious all the way. It had way more compelling characters and plots, great music and I could literally rewatch it any time and have a blast. I enjoyed iCarly (except for the webshow parts I usually hated those) but honestly after one watch I never had the urge to go back.
I feel like both shows offer different things for different people. I grew up watching iCarly more then I did Victorious which is probably why I prefer it but when I did end up tuning into Victorious I never felt like it was just an iCarly clone and there were many episodes that I can still remember being pretty cool and interesting. I haven’t watched either show in years but I really don’t think one is better then the other.
Victorious had funnier characters but iCarly had funnier plot lines.

I have to go with Victorious. Upon rewatching both shows now as an adult, Victorious holds up better. It felt really weird rewatching ICarly and many things weren't funny anymore. Victorious on the other hand, has far more innuendos which makes the show funnier to watch once you're old enough to catch and understand them all.

I always preferred Victorious, it kind of felt like to me of Nickelodeon's version of Community, one of my favorite shows.

Victorious was my show. Unlike ICarly, I watched it regularly and even now wouldn't mind going back to watch again. The ensemble cast range from above average to classically trained (simultaneously a positive and a negative). Also the show is somewhat a non-linear story therefore it's easy to follow. Major points is the diverse cast. 😉
I think a comparison between Sam & Cat and Victorious could be interesting, talking about things like what lessons were learned from the original show and in what ways Sam & Cat is an evolution of its predecessor.
And too iCarly also

iCarly has better character development. And there relationships are better. Especially Spencer and Carly's relationship.
Tori and her parents had such a terrible relationship where they'd leave there girls at home for days at a time which is irresponsible.
iCarly has more of a home vybe to it. And it's more relatable. iCarly makes me feel like hey you know the internet can be a fun space and you can do it too.
Not to mention Carly is a way better protagonist💜
Those random episodes in victorious are crazy and I literally can't remember them. The episode iSams mom and the one when they try to get that famous artist to like Spencer's art are really wholesome.
Overall iCarly is the better show and it's more thought out. Victorious has great characters except Beck but how often do you meet someone like Cat? Or Sikowitz?

Nah the characters aren't that good tho unlike victorious and i carlys characters are cliche and also the episodes are very memorable from victorious to me

It was really hard to watch
Most of the songs from Victorious were actually recorded and are real songs now, which I think made the show more entertaining
i love both shows, and i would like victorious more if i didnt get frustrated everytime rewatching, and seeing how the side characters like andre and beck didn't get any character development or screentime at all.

i like both shows and I personally don't think Spencer, Skiowittz or Trina are dumb. Do others think they are yes but I think they are strategic and want ppl to think them a certian way trust me there are moments when you see truth how smart they are. Cat I dont know sometimes seems dumb sometimes just oblvious but ocasionally saying something smart. yeah Sam and Gibby techinically dumb but do have 1 area of smartness each but thats it. i also like Glee because i'm that person who likes those.

All I know is that I liked iCarly because of Sam and Victorious because of their multiple different characters.
ICarly was more bold, taking on the Internet video theme long before anyone really knew it would be so big. It often took on actual issues teenagers face, while Victorious was much more situational.
The ICarly web-show part was a bit “loud=funny,” but let’s remember who the show was for, children. What the webshow did to appeal more to children was more than made up for by its show outside of the webshow, which had the ability to appeal to other demographics. After rewatching the show as an adult, I can confirm this to be true for me. I used to love the web-show bits as a child, but as I grew I appreciated it less as I began to appreciate the other parts more.
Victorious always struck me as more theatrical and less personable. The characters were more fleshed out in Victorious, but this actually made them less relatable. It’s much easier to see yourself in a character which fits a certain archetype than it is a character who is “too real.” Tori, Beck, Andre, and even Trina struck me as “too human.”
RUclips and the internet was already big by 2007 what are talking about. Everyone knew it was gonna get big MySpace was huge. I have no idea what you are talking about. Nick already did shows about kids using the internet like the Amanda show.

Also I would like to point out that ICarly basically started after a viral clip of them cracking jokes on their teacher which is how they got so popular going viral at that time wasn’t something you can make a career out of at that time as viral vids at the time had a life expectancy of 2yrs than ppl forget about whereas now you can go viral and it would literally change your life for better or for worse
I’m definitely biased since I suggested it a few weeks ago, but my vote is for “Violetta” to be the next compare/contrast to “Victorious”. I feel like it be a more interesting compare-contrast since they have more similar premises but they have different tones/styles (sitcom vs. telenovela) and are made not just by different channels (Nick vs Disney) but also by different countries (US vs Argentina). Anyways, I’m glad it got a mention.

Also I loved both shows growing up, but iCarly wins for me. I was 13 when that started, while I was 16/17 when Victorious started, so while I watched all of iCarly, I kinda stopped watching Victorious by season 3.

I'm more of a victorious guy since I like the song numbers & found the comedy better in victorious however I will admit the characters are more fleshed out in ICarly
For me, I definitely enjoy Victorious more, I think the humor is so much better, as you said each character is so different that the jokes they make are all so much better and they make more sense with the overall storyline of the episode its not just little jokes like in ICarly, I really like iCarly as well but the writing in victorious is just to funny and I just love the vocabulary they chose for the show

Victorious felt like an older teen show while ICarly felt preteen and I always enjoyed nick and Disneychannel live action show when they got older.
Victorious is better than iCarly because of the 2 "mean" characters. This is Jade from Victorious and Sam from iCarly. I've noticed that Jade actually cares about people's feelings and genuinely feels bad when she hurts them and tries to earn forgiveness whereas Sam tends to shrug it off in a Greg Heffley sort of manner. I don't think Sam is inherently a bad person but I do think Jade is the better written character and therefore Victorious is better than iCarly.

Although Cat was always ditzy, she didn't start out dumb. She was made progressively slower as the show went on until by the time of Sam & Cat she had the mind of a small child.

Love both of your channels & both shows
I’ve always preferred Victorious even though it has far less episodes. I loved all the characters and their unique interactions with each other. My favorite duo was Jade and Cat. But I loved the show because each character had a semi different relationship to another. Like Jade and Cat was like a big sister little sister type of thing, whereas with Jade and Tori, it felt like a friendship where you could bully each other but still love each other. Also I loved that it was always referencing things. The breakfast club episode was really good to me. Also the Charlie’s angels spoof was funny. I’m sad it ended so soon but it was great while it lasted

Spencer is not dumb as later discussed. He GOT INTO law school but was miserable. That aside, i liked both shows but since Icarly was first and made up a lot of my after schools: I prefer it.

iCarly, Victorious, and Drake and Josh are all the same show. The main differences are webshow, school of talents, brotherly love/drake’s career. But when those things aren’t the plot they are almost the same show. Zoey 101 doesn’t count its more of a drama love story kinda like clone high. Drake and josh, iCarly, Victorious are about friends hanging out kinda like that 70s show for kids.
They definitely have all the same type of comedy
@@pleaseshutup7053 Idk about drake and josh because I’ve never watched it but icarly and victorious definitely don’t have the same humour, victorious has more innuendos and it’s humour is more targeted at teens, while icarly is more kid friendly, also icarly has more slapstick humour, while victorious is good in ‘comedic timing’ and has little slapstick humour

I love both Icarly and Victorious, I even love their crossover I party with Victorious and I also enjoy watching Big Time Rush. It would be cool if Nickelodeon add Big Time Rush cast to join the crossover and it would have been calls I party with Big Time Victorious and that could be the best epic crossover that Nickelodeon has ever done

Both shows certainly have their strengths and weaknesses when compared to each other. I'd hesitate to say one is better than the other one, but depending on what kind of humor, writing, and character development you like you may gravitate towards one over the other. I wouldn't fault anyone who said they liked Victorious more, or if they said they preferred iCarly.
Regarding the ending, I did enjoy Julie and the Phantoms. I'd be interested in a video on your thoughts about that show.

I like both of these shows as a kid but once you discover that dark side behind these two shows mainly with the creator and his disgusting behaviour, i can't watch these shows the same ever again.

Yeah I know what you are saying about the victorious characters and it’s comedy it’s like in that crazy ponnie episode where Tori takes out a weird doll dressed like her out of that back pack and it says “I’m talking Tori and I’m eviiil” and then cat says “why would you buy that doll” and Jade says “and where can I get one” it just has that one two punch and I love it👍😁and there is more examples of that of course especially in that episode between cat and Jade😅but also in other episodes as well.
I love both of the shows
But after recently rewatching both I found myself more entertained by Victorious the cast is bigger but still just as or more lovable

The ultimate crossover
Even though I like iCarly more, I feel like it went downhill starting from Season 4 (with a few exceptions.) Victorious never had a dip in quality and was consistently good throughout its broadcast. A proper ending would have gave it a better legacy.

I will say that while I did enjoy iCarly more as a kid now that I’m older I honestly think Victorious is way better, probably because the thing I came to realize is that Victorious’ style and humor was a lot more smart and clever, whether you’re talking about Jade’s dark humor or Cat’s funny but also morbid stories about her brother, it felt a lot more real, mainly due to having a larger cast of characters with different personalities to bounce off of each other, iCarly is still funny too but admittedly it’s humor is a lot more childish compared to Victorious, it was more focused on slapstick and goofiness which it did do well but in comparison it is the lesser of the 2 styles of humor, Victorious felt like it was really written for a teenage demographic and not being a teen-centric show that was still written for a kid audience like iCarly was, so even though at first the kid inside me wanted to say iCarly when I actually sat down to rewatch both of them I found myself enjoying Victorious a hell of a lot more

Victorious is the show that feels like... the most to me. It's got the most fleshed out cast, the most wild situations, and the most of DS's not-so-great interests. So in a lot of ways it's the more interesting show, but it's also kinda unsatisfying, especially because of the cancellation.
iCarly is the more stable show. It had a full 100 episode life cycle where it got to say everything it wanted. Did it overstay it's welcome near the end? Yeah. It's kind of a middle point between Drake and Josh and Victorious in terms of tone and structure.
So while there's some ways iCarly seems "better" (more easily memorable characters, a definitive ending), if I wanted to watch a show from this era, Drake and Josh would be my choice for the best, and Victorious is the one that would let me go all in on weird Schneider content. Zoey 101 might be my favorite though.
I love how as I scroll, I see one picking icarly and another victorious. Both were equally good but I prefer icarly😂
