Hmm... First thought: Who the hack is Matt Smith, and why RUclips recommends me?
Second thought: Why the hell is Matt Smith in my favourites list? ... Ahh, AdventureSportsFlashlights! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet :)
6:45 wide beam is perfect for biking both for high or low beam.
i wondered myself who is Matt smith ? lol..
Me too. Checked my email and saw that notification and had the same reaction.
Wish he'd use his real name though...
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV Is Matt Smith not his real name?

Got mine a couple weeks ago. I love it! I have the other two Anduril lights you showed and the new Sofirn SP36 Anduril on the way as well. I love the lightning, candle, etc. The FW3A makes a great EDC. Thanks for the straight dope on the tailswitch!
Nice review. I especially liked the explanation of how the tailswitch talks to the emitter, and the examples of how other lights solve the problem as a comparison. Also the flickering while ramping. I suspected it was something to do with the regulated modes. Really good attention to detail, I hadn't found that information elsewhere, I appreciate it.
Amazon has this light cheaper than Neal.
So glad I found this new channel!!!
I just got mine in the mail today. Absolutely a great flashlight. The ui is really easy to get used to and does everything. Huge capacity and the brightness is fantastic. Great size, slightly larger than the olight s1r I was carrying before this.
I've had this flashlight about 3 weeks now I have many other flashlights including the Emisar D4 and this is definitely my favourite EDC flashlight to date. Great review bye the way, keep them coming.
For everyone having a cow about the switch coming apart... realize that taking off the tail cap to replace the battery is already a little cumbersome because of the clip. The reason why the switch is not sealed up is for modding purposes. Lumintop may seal it up when their branded production version ships. But in any case, it's so damned easy to replace the battery from the front. If you make this a deal breaker, you're just denying yourself a great light for no good reason.
I use my elliptical optic for my city bike. That way i can get good lighting without irritating car drivers or even other cyclists.
You the realmmvp
Matt I really liked when you were out in the field shining that light it was very good video keep up the good work I always enjoyed watching your program I'll be back when you come out with more flashlights thank you 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Just received mine based on this video. I have many, many lights and this is AMAZING!
i just got mine. it does get hot fast! love the size and ui. really love the tailcap.
Thank you so much for providing a beamshot of the 10510 optic, nobody does this and I keep advocating it's the perfect optic for bike lights
Camden Wallraff Exactly, I’m thunking about buying this and use as a bike light. Too bad there is no quad elliptical optics, it will be perfect for D4
The oval output lens is fantastic for bicycle use.
I agree thats the intent. Dont know if i agree that its fantastic for it. 😁
welcome back my friend, good to see you back rocking another great video.
I bought this light and came here to learn a bit and really see how it shines, little did I know I would be hearing about different click mechanisms of old lights...lol
love my FW3A Love the tail gate and the dimmer amazing
Overall great video, both in quality and content. Nicely done, Matt👍🏼. Greetings from Slovakia!
...every time I see one of your posts, I start wiping my phone screen thinking there's a hair on it...😆
I like this light a lot. Nice review. One of my favorite, though, not the brightest, is the Sunwayman T26C in champagne color. It's a really well made light you can find on sale all the time. Be on the lookout for them on sale for less than $40. I bought one in all three colors. Nice satisfying metal button click.
Love the swappable lens.
This will be my new flashlight thank you
Hey Matt, my Old Sunwayman T20C also had a very similar piston design. Great video by the way, I bought it :)
I just received mine last night in the mail. Olive color with cool white. I have to say that the Turbo is going to be mostly unused since just turning it on for a couple of seconds starts the heating of the head quickly. Probably a GOOD thing that it ramps itself down on its own.
Really awesome review of a light that I really love... Thanks Matt
I spy some classics back there! Surefire M6 was goals back when I was a broke teenager in the early 2000s
I could always look forward to getting an education on flashlights how they work why they work when I come to your channel so freaking cool 🏆🏆🏆🏆👍
Best review I've seen yet, I have two of the 5000k from the first batch. I feel pretty lucky to be honest, did the thermal config out of the box and no issues at all. Have to say it's my favourite torch ever!
mungo75 what temp did you set yours at?
Left it on the factory default for now mate. Just re-calibrated the temp sensor.
Thanks, Matt for the new video thanks also for the shipment. Well received. Then Cu heat sing is really heavy.
I may need some help to connect the driver to 26650s. Cheers.
Totally awesome! I want...love the 18650 load.

Thanks for filming
So good to see you back to reviewing flashlights! You’re by far my favorite reviewer. I can tell you love lights like I do and that you get the same kick out of blasting a back yard with turbo. Never gets old. Looking forward to future reviews/tutorials! (P.S. Please do an OSRAM Flat White or Flat Black build in a C8! Or in any flashlight really. Super neat emitters.)
It's a great light , I love it ! Just got my first one ! Haha " first one " !
I got the acebeam tk18 coming in soon , I think it'll be a good comparison , I also compared it to the Convoy S21A , the S21A throws more but I don't think it's as bright . Thanks for the review Matt always fun to watch !
I like the ramping. If you could put a magnet on it and it came with an 18350 tube I would get one.
Great review, Matt. I assume yours is the 3D (7A is a lot warmer). Glad to see you took the time to read the BLF topics about it and incorporate useful info from those postings. The FW3A is a terrific light in so many respects. It also lends itself well to customization. I did a few very minor mods to it for very little money and enjoy them a lot: 1) a GITD strip of tape in the tail cap groove, 2) a GITD strip of tape around the inner wall of the head that glows brightly from the emitters, and 3) a segment of bicycle inner tube cut for the straight segment of the tube under the clip that adds a nice extra grip. I also bought 3 Carclo optics and tried them out--they each have a difference and it's great having that option to change the beam pattern for different uses.
Thanks for sharing. I believe mine is the 3D, it looks 5000k to me.
I like it but I think I'll wait for v2. I'd like to see maybe some aux lights and maybe make a throwy version. Nice job btw bro! 👌
Great light! Love mine!
I just got one of these lights with XP-L 5000K for night riding on my boosted board. Picked up some of those elliptical optics you showed, they're perfect!
Could you please link me to the ellipticals?
You can pick this light up on Amazon for 49.99 right now and it has a 15 percent off coupon. So its $42 overall. Thats a steal
INCREDIBLE
This might be the Best flashlight for my needs. Even though I wanted something rechargeable, there should be a charger available online for such baterries. I have had such batteries that have been resting in one spot for years without usage
I got the FW21A and love it. Though I've burnt a whole in the pocket of a pair of Jean's and through the pocket and the leg if another pair of cotton paints. Be disciplined about using momentary or lockout. I haven't done the mod yet.
a great light for burying a body out in the woods, thanks Matt.
Hey Matt good to see you buddy I've been away for a while but good to see you really cool little light 👍
Great video, thanks.
I like your reviews a lot, iam really considering to buy this light 🤗 optics change is just perfect, really cool feature.
And... 2800 lumens?!?! From that thing, should be illegal
Great video thank you for the review 👍 I love that flash light, btw you look like Shia labeouf
Hey Matt, glad I found your site (I subscribed) and have decided to update my stash of flashlights to more state-of-the-art led models. I bought a couple of the BLF FW3A's and initially had the same problem as many other folks have had with them not working right out of the box. After a lot of seaching the internet and youtube, I found no definitive solution. By accident, I found it on my own.
It seems there is a very thin layer of lacquer (?)or some finish over the head and tailcap PCB's and may act as an insulator. I discovered that by scuffing up the circular contact rings on the head and tailcap the the light would immediately function as intended. I also found it not necessary to use the GI-JOE kung fu grip to tighten things down. A normal firm tightening works just fine.
I wish I had seen this earlier. While I think Lumintop's QC is pretty bad, and Nealsgadgets' customer service is also pretty bad given how many issues surrounded these lights. After fishing the light out of the trash to try what you suggested here because I also tried a bunch of stuff and nothing worked but I did finally get it to work. Thank you.
Excellent! I'm glad I could help.
Mega cool light.
Hello Matt
I've watched a couple of your videos now hoping to learn a few things and decided to buy this light from Neal's Gadgets.
the only thing I'm unsure of, is whether or not a battery would be included, as It's not quite clear to me.
Click click click click click click click click click....ahhhhh
The sweet sound indeed !
Such a lovely place, Matt. Was that scene shot at dawn? It is fantastic. Thanks for the demo.
At dusk.
I just got one this week. So far I love it. It's been fun. Can anyone tell me what batteries they are using and why?
The camera shot is fantastic. Was it dawn or dusk? The picture is so perfect. Great taste!
Thank you. I get lucky every now and then and something epic is caught on film. It was Dusk...
This is a great light
I love my FW3A. Ended up getting the 7A tint which certainly is warm but it's nice and cozy.
Still debating whether I'll buy the SST-20 version. It would be good for some emitter swap shenanigans since it's cheaper.
But currently I'm waiting for fall/winter to arrive, bright summer nights in Finland are one of the downsides of living here for a flashlight guy..
7A tint is baller.
Wide horizontal optic would be good for bike riding. No blinding of people and wide coverage of the floor
Use the light for to long and you will damage the optics. Andy England 🇬🇧💡
sorry for the delay, the carclo 10511 optics available, and the most of the orders shipped last week.
Why don't you provide refunds when you offer them and people ask multiple times for one?
they fixed the components from falling apart. my fw3a doesnt come apart at all other than the tail body and head of the light,. my internals are captured
I’m preferential to a side switch myself
My ZebraLight SC64w is the ultimate in terms of minimal size, both length and diameter, useful brightness, beam quality, tint & CRI and electronics features such as low voltage step down and PID thermal protection circuitry.
Although I’m aware that my D4 and FW3A hold their own, and cost less and are brighter. They’re not in the same league as the Zebra.
I own multiple Zebras. Had 2 controller failures on 2 different lights. Zebra warranty SUCKS. It takes months and you have to pay for everything.
I just got mine and an 18350 tube for it. Of coarse I took it apart (dont want to have dry O-rings do I?) and to try out the shorty tube. Well now Ive got a some very skinny white/translucent o-rings all over the place and I dont know where they go. Never noticed them on the light. BTW It has the regular black o-rings in the usual places.
I like it, decent little flashlight... although mine does not click anything close to the one in this video and the UI is not very intuitive. I use the Imalent DM70 for my EDC but it's a little bigger than I'd like. This is a good edc, a decent replacement for the DM70 considering the weight.
The elliptical optic I heard is for a use as a bike light.
Interesting, but I will keep my Emisar D 4, and my Zebra SC 600 FD III Plus they both get used every day, and both take high drain unprotected 18650 battery..They are both great EDC Lights. That flashlight with parts falling out is unacceptable in my opinion. Love your reviews.

flyonbyya I have two zebra lights. The SC 600 FD III Plus, and the SC5Fd. I am going to get the new Zebra SC 700Fd XHP70.2. I have many other lights such as Fenix, Thrunite, Olights, Eagtec, Nitecore, Jetbeam, MecArmy, Klarus, Manker,. All great lights. I use all of them, and take them to the Philippines when I go there every two years. The Thrunite TC 15 spent a day in the ocean. Not one issue with it. Also have the Rofis R1, awesome light Use it every day, and gave my original to my father in law in the Philippines.Bought a new on my travel back home. I also bought my father one. I also own some Acebeam lights and just bought the TK16 for me and my father. I also just bought the Thrunite T1. Awesome EDC lights. I buy flashlights like I buy my high power air rifles, firearms and knives, and my RC hobby. Work hard, play harder.
I would love to get the FW3A for my friend who is a building inspector and isn't even issued a flashlight. But he's not an enthusiast or particularly careful so bits falling out is a deal breaker, even if there are ways around it. Shame, I'll probably get him a Convoy S2+ or something.
rebdomine1 I definitely agree with you on that one. My in-laws live in the Philippines and I am with what flashlights I give them, so they aren’t to complicated and can withstand the elements over there. I hook up my dad over here in the states also.
If you have a time, please do review Fireflies E01 vs Lumintop FW3A..
Where can I order this? The available link says there waiting for lenses.??
Are you able to do a review on the Zebralight SC700D and the SC700F ?
Nice review but a 30sec turbo?
Nice Video,as allways :-)
Olight m2r warrior has a silent switch, is it the same eswitch type?
i literally clicked on your video by accident didn't
know it was you
@9:31, Where did you got that elliptical optics from? I want to buy that light with that Optic for added light on my Moped and bike. That is a great opportunity to get it Street-Legal here in the Netherlands.
Wow, confused by the name change but recognized the channel icon.
It's something I'm experimenting with :)
@@Lumencraft- put your picture in the next thumbnail 😁
Found a rebrand Astrolux MF01 a year ago on amazon for $43!!!!! Needless to say I bought 3!!!! It was branded 911 tactical. Love the lights!
I bought a 911 s1 and I believe it was an astrolux as well, I got it for $20, shoulda bought a few. It's like 2k lumens, black with copper
Nice!
Love mine
off topic here but at 11:11 that's a beautiful sky.
Hey bud just got one of these was wondering what the best cell would be for it her brightest lumens
Matt,
I am a search and rescue deputy and use my personal drone for that purpose.
I'm looking for a reliable light to mount to the bottom of a DJI Mavic 2 drone. I need it to be 6-800lmn and ankle to run at that brightness constantly, no downshift, 4.5" or so in length if possible. I'm not worried about battery life because the drone only does about 25min per battery and I can swap the torch battery at the same time.
My plan is to fly for 1hr, then rest the motors for 20min, then resume.
So you think this torch is capable of running for a solid hour at that intensity w/o damage? If not, are you aware of one that would burn for that long?
I love the tech that's coming out,I just wish they'd heat sink it enough to burn at or close to max brightness for as long necessary.
Wide flat beam for cycling.
its getting hot too quickly. try Rovyvon A23 you will blown away
Can you post a vid on how to firmware flash this?
You don't say but I'm assuming that this gets hot very quickly. I think I'll stick with my Zebra light SC 62, I have ThruNite, Fenix, Olight, Surefire, Nitecore, and many more high-end lights but the one I always grab for EDC is the zebra light. It is smaller than most of my 14500 and 16350 flashlights, but with the 18650 battery lasts much longer I only charger it once or twice a year.
Want to know how I know you didn't watch the entire video
Double click from off goes to the top of the ramp, but is it supposed to briefly turn on at the previously used level before going to that ceiling? That’s what’s happening with mine.
I want one!!!!!👍🏻👌🏻
I’m looking for similar priced and bright light but with a less flood - not spot or thrower - in between What suggested ones do you have? Thanks!
Can we get a throwy tripple? Why the optics need an auxiliary spacer with no auxiliary lighting? Get a large tripple tir together.
And please don't tell me about depth I understand the optic needs to be 1/5th of a mm thicker.
What are the Lumen levels at the various increments? Especially the candlelight?
$50 for that tiny thing, should come with a Star Trek transporter circuit. Like, beam me over there, Scotty!
Bruh, do you even flashlights? 50 is dirt cheap for a powerful and compact minitorch like this, Olight charges far more for less goodness. To say nothing of American outdated brands.
What’s your advise on a weapons light....
I have tried a few very high light output lights,, and none of them can seem to hold up to the AR 15’s recoil..... ( which really isn’t all that much )
Would greatly appreciate any advise..
Used the “my shop” link and bought one or thought i was buying one, used paypall and it showed an overseas payment to some japanese company nothing about my order so starting to think i may have been scammed. good content by the way.
And how about your shopping? Did you get flashlight?
Neals shop is in China. Takes some people month to get light
Matt, I have already purchased the BLF FW3A through Neal's Gadgets and I am currently waiting for delivery (I received a notice of shipment yesterday 07/16/19). I noticed another possible EDC light on Neal's website that intrigued me, but unfortunately there are no reviews as of this time. Would you consider a review of the FiTorch P25? It is listed as a 3000 lumen light. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
Newbie here; what charger do you use for this torch? Also can you set this up for magnetic charging?
Was at the Neal's site, but confused at the choices, Luminus, Nichia, etc. Which one is recommended?
Figured it out after seeing your later review of the variations.
Nice
Just got this light six days ago and it stopped working while using it on storm mode never came back on changed batteries did the whole trouble shooting thing nothing worked idk when I’m going to learn if you really need a light it better be a goddam surefire I’ve had one on the end of my colt and thousands of rounds later it’s still like new just a whole lot dirtier!!
Will the crfg3467 fit or do I need a dfty 8953 or should I just stick with the zxcvty3470
Cool
Have you tried the Zebralight SC64C LE? How does the FW3A compare?
Hey Matt! I recently bought Lumintop EDC 05 delivered yesterday and I am having a hard time finding good 14500 batteries where I live. I ordered one online and I have noticed that the torch heats up pretty quick (under less than a minute) to the point that I am scared that the battery might explode. I found some branded 2700 mAh rechargeable batteries at the local store but I am not sure if those batteries are compatible with the torch. Would greatly appreciate your input.
Everything I've found online says that the sanyo 14500 is the best, it's what I run in my tool aa 2.0.
Never knew you could change out optics either.....
Matt this seems to be great ,how much with discount. Does your testing of this one use a rechargeable. Also, can I purchase the convoy you were carrying or is it modified? Sorry, kind of a newbie? Thanks, Harry
Hi Harry. The convoy I have is modified. The battery I used in the FW3A is a rechargeable 18650, and it needs to be a very good one. I recommend getting the Sony VTC6 battery. You can order it with the light if you get it from Neil.
