    Matthew 13:1-23
The Lord speaks to us through His Word.
We were created with the awesome opportunity to hear.
    In this parable:
    • Jesus is identified as the Sower.
    • The seed is the message of the gospel.
    • The soil is the various listeners.
The hearing is based on how the message is put into action.
The Lord is aware of our beliefs, actions, feelings, resistance to the truth, hurts, excuses, and desires. He understands the position of our hearing hearts.
Four types of hearts are represented in the parable of the soils:
    1. The Hard Heart
    A. Our hearts are hard because of what is done to us and what we do to ourselves
    B. Often we cannot hear because we refuse to live what we already know
    2. The Shallow Heart
    A. The heart is the core or our intellect, emotion and will
    B. The rock below the surface is impacted by the intellect, emotion, and will
    3. The Crowded Heart
    A. Worries of life
    B. Deceitfulness of riches
    4. The Attentive Heart
    A. This heart is receptive, reproductive, and relentless
    B. The attentive heart results in character transformation
    C. The attentive heart gives us the opportunity to make an impact
