MAKE SURE TO PUT the meds or liquid in a bottle under your arms, so that it is a warm comfortable liquid going in. Really helps make it more comfortable. I find vets often forget about animal comfort just trying to be efficient. Animals benefit from good bedside manners as well.
Good advice, there's no reason to make your cat uncomfortable by putting cold liquid in their ears.

My boy has horrible ear mites and is terrified of his medication. (He literally hisses when he sees the bottle, lol). He doesn't bite or scratch, but holding him still is a nightmare. Even with a friend holding him, it's gonna be rough. Wish me luck!

My cat purrs when I clean her ears. I just use a q-tip on the crevices, but I don’t go deeper than that because everything else clean and she goes to the vet regularly. of course there is a little accumulation in her ear crevices and so if I catch her scratching her ears often, I put her on my lap and take a look.

I took in an abandon kitty and realize it have dirt in the ear so im afraid to clean the ears but i have to its very bad. Thank goodness ASPCA truck is coming around in two weeks so they would do it free :)

Thanks for the video, it helps so much! but that cat is a saint and my cat is too wild, I'm afraid not even the kitty burrito technique would work with her..
I do it bymyself by placing kitty burtio between my legs while kneeling down with my butt on my feet, with my chest pushing cat to the ground kind of, and using my feet to block the cat from backing and escaping. That technic lets me have my hands free to do what i have to do, i hope i described it pretty understandable 😅

Do not stick the bottle into the ear as in this video as the tip will become contaminated. Drop the drops from outside the ear to ensure that the tip does not touch the infected ear.

I have an 18 year old male with collapsed ears due to ear infections. Is there a safe way to clean his ears? The ears are inflated and are hard to get into.
It's easy to say not knowing his situation. Maybe he got the cat when he COULD afford to take it to the vet?
Of course I'd highly recommend taking the cat to the vet everytime there is an issue.

Luckily I have a very docile cat so I was able to clean his ears by myself.
i never used cleanser! Since I can see the dirt due to the open ear canal, I always used q-tips lightly moisted with vegetable oil and clean my cat's ears. Is it that wrong?
DeniseXdeSC it could be because the oil doesn't evaporate. It may cause more debris to form in the ear.

DeniseXdeSC I hear apple vinegar with peroxide helps. But I would do my own research just to be safe
@@ebbss4 never use peroxide on cats. It eats their flesh. Seriously a no no. I made the mistake of using it on my boys snake bite. It destroyed so much flesh surrounding the wound. Scarred way worse than if I would have left it alone. Now instead of two holes he has a four inch scar down his left front leg. Hair never grew back either. Just buy some ivermectin horse paste on Amazon.$7 dollar tube will last a lifetime. Only need the amount the size of a Q-tip head. Mix with a little water in a spoon. Apply it with gloved hands. Use finger to apply that way you can better gauge what you are doing.. With cotton it soaks up the meds and it’s hard to tell where you are rubbing. One and done. No mites for at least 8 months.

This cotton ball theory to clean a cat's ears is not proper. The ear is to be filled with optional cleansers, I'm not getting those here, then massaged, then cat shakes his / her head. There are good videos on RUclips that teach cat ear cleaning the effective way, not this ineffective dabbling she is doing.
Hello Dr. DiGrazia, your video has a soft sensuality to it, starting at 0:29 when Jessica comforts and reassures the cat. I like seeing how your gentle touch gets the cat to trust you. Also I like the way your hair sort of splashes outwards in all directions when it hits your shoulders. Have you noticed a lot of handsome young men showing up at your clinic ostensibly to get you to doctor their animals, listening and smiling and looking deeply into your eyes as they hang on to your every word? :-)
