My daughter's kitten had ear mites. I dipped the q tips in castor oil and cleaned out tons, from every crevice to start. It's better than a dry aq tip. Then poured a drop in each. Did the same the following day and that solved it. I'd used other oils in my own cats ears but castor oil seemed to work faster, maybe cos it's so thick.
Castor oil also cured my husband's eczema. The rash appeared oner night. We thought it was hogweed burn. The doctor didn't have a clue so gave him two lots of aNti biotics (the first course did nothing). A doctor on a medical forum diagnosed he had eczema triggered by something. His doctor had to agree and gave him steroid cream..it's still unopened. The castor oil cured it in three to four days. And we Could see his flesh between the creases of dry scaly skin before .
It makes me mad knowing children with severe eczema are covered in harmful steroid cream and bandages, when caStor oil and fresh air may be all they need!

    Hi, doctor Andrew
I tried the castor oil on my cat for ear mites and it worked really well; I warmed the castor oil in a glass of warm water, so as not too shock him when I put it in.
He barely noticed and didn't fuss much at all.
Also his ears were so red and sore, all the way to the tippy top. He wouldn't let me touch him, he would run away.
I got some Zymox, from Amazon, that worked wonderfully for the pain and cleaned his ears out, bright and shiny like new.
It has hydrocortisone in it and it stops the pain immediately.
I'm sure you know that but I just wanted to let everybody else know.
God bless you, you wonderful man.

THIS TREATMENT WORKS! Day 6 of using this treatment and my cat’s ears are waaaayyy better now. No more scratching! I used virgin coconut oil for the first 3 days while waiting for my order of sweet almond oil to arrive. I clean her ears with a q tip with coconut/ sweet almond oil before adding 3-4 drops afterwards. First 3 days, the gunk from her ear really came out and I’m using 6-8 q tips just to clean it. Now, I’m done with just 2 q tips. I applied only once a day. Will follow through with the treatment plan for the next 14 days!

I have an outdoor-friendly cat of mine who returned home after 5 months of disappearance. My neighbour told me few days back that her husband was the one who send the cat away. Apparently to a river side which i don't know the reason why and i didn't ask the wife cause i was so annoyed to know the truth. Its about 5 miles away from my house. But this cat managed to find back cause i know he loves me so much. I have known him as a litter. Been feeding and taking care of him since small cause his mother had injured herself falling from 3rd floor of the flats and started to act aggressive towards her kittens due to her pain. After his disappearance, I was looking for him everywhere for atleast a week but no where to be seen. I then gave up , hoping, he would return. He somehow manage to find his way back. Nothing could make me so happy to see him again, alive. He is with me now. But ,, he brought along some Ear mites and flu with him. He had this very dry hard skin on both her ears and is shaking his head , scratching his ears all the time. I also noticed that he couldnt hear much and i totally get it why. Now, i am working on curing him. I started on with coconut oil. Pouring some oil onto the tissue and cleaning his both ears. Also applying oil all over his body and did some massaging cause his skin is so dry. Then for flu, i am giving him topical medication. And im already seing improvements. He could hear well now and is started to walk and eating normal. He been starved and returned weak and bony. Now he looks okay. And also gaining weight. Hope he can be back healthy and happy like he used to be.

      @@dnllmaurer1 Yes! Lysine WORKS!
A rescue kitty that I have and is so sweet, has a upper respiratory condition which comes with sneezes and teary eyes.
But Lysine, (which I also use for myself and does many things in the body), usually clears it up by the next day.
I buy the 500 mg capsules.
For the kitty, I can pop the capsule apart and mic]x it in with wet food (I split it between to meals that day).
Or if I have run out and he got bad symptoms I give him the whole capsule (but learn from the Veterinarians on RUclips if not in person, how to safely give a cat a pill).
Giving the whole capsule daily for the first week did an awesome job of completely clearing up the heavily watering eyes and sneezing. He was so comfortable after that.
Then I started putting it in his food, but sometimes when I did that for a while, it did not work as well.
I am sure it was because it is not absorbed as well when mixed in the food.

Please be careful telling ppl to use qtips on their cats' ears because most cats aren't going to sit still.Theres a chance of going too far and hurting them unintentionally❤
Advice I've gotten from my vets is they say to use cotton balls or cotton circles/squares to wipe the ears NOT qtips. Also remember their ears, eyes and noses are all very closely connected so please do not use peroxide on your cats 🙏

Just started doing this today on my 2month old kitten, I rescued it from the streets and noticed it has ear mites as it kept scratching(no fleas as she had treatment for them) so I used olive oil, 3 drops each ear and started cleaning with a wet wipe around my finger. I was so surprised there was loads of black stuff…and once she started shaking her head a big piece of black ‘stuff’ flew out of her ear, poor baby probably had it stuck and the oil helped a lot. I’m gonna keep doing it daily and follow your plan, hopefully we get rid of them! Thank you!!

Coconut oil is highly medicinal and works like magic for healing all sorts of ailments inside and outside the body. It's the best antibacterial antifungal on the planet! I've been using it for over ten years in place of antibiotic creams. It heals wounds lightning fast - really, you will be shocked. I've even used it several times in place of stitches (on myself) and it sealed the deep cuts within 24 hours (be sure to cover with a bandage). Coconut oil is amazing stuff!

I have 6 indoor cats and a few outdoor cats that come and eat.
I moved in 2 outdoor cats a year ago. I’ve been battling ear mites ever since. Have used the meds from our vet. Been using some apple cider vinegar to clean ears with. The one that gave them to everybody else had a severe ear infection which is better now but have caused her many balance issues. I’m going to try this almond oil tomorrow on all of them. Seems I’m almost rid of them and they are back. One of the outdoor cats will let me pet him and he’s getting the oil too. He has them.
I will let you know how it works. Not sure I can get two doses a day in each cat but I’m going to try. They see me coming with a q-tip, tissue or bottle and they know what it is now. Thank you for these new things to use. I don’t like using the vet med a lot.

I've got 4 cats. One is now an indoor cat and has ear mites. When he sees me with a bottle, he hides. When I catch him he lowers his ears and wiggles/scratches out of the towel and he is vicious about it. He's ordinarily a laid back, sweet cat. Unless I get close to his ears.
I used Cod Liver oil on one cat and accidentally poured too much into his ear. Seriously drowned his ear and felt awful but that one dose rid him of ear mites!
So I guess I'll do the same on the indoor cat only on purpose.

I want to thank you for all you do and also for replying to me about one of my cats having a cyst on his ear.
He calmly laid still as I gently cleaned the area with mild soap and water. Fur fell off of the affected area followed by pus. I kept cleaning it until the pus ceased then applied triple antibiotic ointment.
After doing this, I applied more medicine once a day for a few days and it completely healed.
Not long afterwards, another cyst appeared on his other ear and did the same treatment. But, pulled out a very tiny thorn like object and it healed right away. I couldn't believe how patient he was. At one point he loudly meowed a "that hurts!" but stayed still and let me help him. So unlike my indoor cat! LOL!

I think if you pour a lot in the ear, it drowns the mites and the mites that hatch. What I intially did was by accident but worked.
As for vinegar, I personally wouldn't put it in an animals ear because its acidic even when diluted. If my ear had sores and itchy, I wouldn't use vinegar on myself. Instead, mild soapy water to cleanse. Also, I'm not opposed to my pets seeing a vet but they are so expensive.
I buy flea medicine once a month because the itching and bites makes dogs and cats miserable and they are more likely to get a disease that will make them extremely ill and cause death than the medicine. Also, I have them inoculated.
We humans get Small Pox, Polio and MMR vaccines and I'm grateful for them.
Holistic medicine goes far but still...
      Just my two cents.
I wish you the best of luck with the mites but if you can't rid them you may have to have your pet seen by a vet.

My three loving , gentle, and cooperative cats turn into mountain lions if I use oils. I STAY calm, whisper sweetly in their ears, put the treat jar where they can see their promise of rewards. They know when I'm thinking about treatment time, and watch me like a hawk so as to plan their getaway. 😭

Doctor - I had originally tried hydrogen peroxide...mostly as an aid to help clean up the debris from the mites (and as an antiseptic - because my 19 year old calico cat had really scratched the inside of her ears with her rear claws). Next, I tried olive oil - which worked ok, but the mites seemed to return quite soon afterward...despite daily treatment. I also tried baby oil, which works well...but the mites return quickly. So far, I've achieved the best result with coconut oil in my calico cat. My 15 year old hyperthyroid black cat's ears stay free of mites. But, the mites tend to soon return on my calico cat. They are both inside-only cats, so I don't know where the mites are coming from. I've owned cats all my life (I'm 72). With all my previous cats, I bathed them regularly. But, with my two present "senior" cats - I have not given either of them a bath in several years. They are thoroughly brushed daily, and they appear very clean (and they groom each other, too). Do you think that bathing them might help? Sometimes I wonder if the Methimazole (for my hyperthyroid black cat) might somehow prevent ear mites from surviving in her ears? Kep up the great work. I really enjoy your videos!-

U can hear the oil in it and all the mites I wiped out were thick and gross. His ear is red and irritated and now I feel terrible. It's always been a sensitive ear to him so I feel terrible now and hope I didn't cause any damage. He's been hiding and that's not normal for him.. I can't get into a vets until next week. I used sweet almond oil by the way and only did it once a day. Sigh... didn't work for me. My other 3 cats still have mites but no issues as far as the oil goes.

Then we got another cat and always kept Her inside and we got her fixed and went to the vet as needed. . I am over run with two cats that were dropped off strays .In life or death condition. when we got them. Took them to the vet over and over again. We got them all fixed and sadly we keep them in the house for fear of the killer road. . Then two more starving cats show up a year ago or more. Flat out 100 % I did not want to feed them or it would be two more cats for us no way but my wife feed them and they have been our back yard cats ever since. Sadly the those two cats had 3 litters of kittens.in the year they were here. I in the past was able to find homes easily for the kittens. But of the last 7 kittens I only found 3 great homes. My daughter took the mother cat stray drop off and the 13 week old kitten to the vet to get fixed. The kitten is 100 % super healthy except a SEVERE case of ear mites . Oddly no mention of the mother cat having ear mites. And some how it has spread to the inside cats. I'm going to try your ear mite cures myself because the vet bill would be way to high...To do kittens is fairly easy they love the ending massage to no end. Had the wake one of them up so I could do the next kitten..LOL that was super funny she just layed there and would not get up.....Many Many thanks DR Jones

We adopted 2 cats the other day & one of them has been scratching at his ears. I don’t really have extra money to take him to the vet, so I was happy to learn that baby oil will work.

Thank you so much for all your nice videos. I have a doubt; I someone told me that a bit of apple cider vingear diluted with water would be helpful 2 times a week, as it would help dry out the oils and prevent possible yeast or fungal infection from moisture due to the oils. I won't suggest this if the cat ears turned red. I tried coconut oil but my cat ears didn't improve. Her ears are red and we went vet. I told him I use coconut oil but it didn't improve.
He prescribed antibiotics and also steroid and ear drops.
If your cat's ears turn red ,please stop
I still appreciate this video but will be better if Dr Andrews touch more on when to see the vet when natural remedies didn't improve the symptoms.
I still like Dr Andrew videos.
There is pus and swelling and coconut oil when he showed me via the earscope. Inflammation.
My cat has allergy issues. We have to standby cetrizine HCI for her eyes redness.
Will appreciate if Dr Andrews combined meds and natural remedies. And when to go to vet when natural help fails
    I still support Dr andrews

I thought that she had ear mites so after watching vids I cleaned her ears and applied a mixture of olive oil and coconut (carrier) oil to both ears and rubbed them like instructed..I did that for 2 nights and it is night 3 and she seems worse and more tender than before..now it appears to be a bit more like a brwn wax so I believe that she has infection..It isn't filling her ear, but there is residue and she is shaking her head once in a while and when I go to check her ears they are obviously tender etc. I can't afford the vet due to covid taking 1 of my husband's jobs at the moment (-$2000mnth) Any help would be so beyond appreciated! Great video. I am a personal assistant/caregiver and I take care of a lot of humans fur, feathered and finned babies. I am working on a serious portable pet first aid kit. These times that we are in are precarious at best. I was wondering if you would be willing to help me and others with that? Could you do a video on what to have in a first aid kit for fur, feathered and finned babies? I have both my human and pet first aid kit in backpack form with lots of little zippered bags so if I need to bug out with it I can. Please also list the over the counter medications etc. that should be in the kit. Like Benedryl for example. A little printout form with weight and dosage would be wonderful. Maybe even link a printout item on how to perform CPR on each animal. This never completely replaces the need to go to a veterinarian, but the times we are in a veterinarian may not be available. Another thing to list would be the wonderful free book that you offer along with a small version of how to administer first aid to your pet. I would do this, but I am not a RUclips creator at this point. Also, you have the credentials and following to help everyone be prepared. Thank you for all that you do. Stay safe and I wish all the animals and humans that you love many blessings.

Thank you for this! I just bought a little thing of baby oil at the drug store yesterday and started cleaning and treatment on one of my cats who has pretty severe ear mites. I can already tell that it works great (not unlike dawn dish soap with fleas, the baby oil smothers the ear mites and dirt). After I applied the drops and massaged his ear canal, you could literally see the "dirt" breaking up and coming to the surface at the edge of the ear, before I even used the q tips. I'll be doing the treatment for the next couple of weeks to make sure they get gone.
Are there any at-home remedies for what they call "demodex" (I think) in cats? There's a stray cat that hangs around my yard and she's sweet as can be (my kids named her "Hugs" because she's always rubbing up against the other cats). Unfortunately, she has some kind of scabby skin condition that I'm assuming is demodex or dermatitis. She passed it on to several other local strays, but also one of my outside cats. Now my cat has almost bald patches, itchiness and little scabs throughout her fur.
I worked at my local animal hospital when I was younger and I have much respect for vets and techs. Alas, treatment can get pretty expensive, especially for kitty fosters and those who try to help treat strays. So I appreciate any home remedies. Thanks again!!

Contagious skin infections are often caused by parasites. (micro organisms, bacteria & fungus) Many can be resolved using Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother. It contains fermentation particles with antibacterial & antifungal qualities. I've successfully treated cats, dogs & people.
Shake well each use! Dilute 50/50 ACV & purified water. Use a small clean cloth, apply weekly. (stronger & more often if possible) It'll sting if skin is cracked or inflamed, avoid eyes.
If it's bad, get a hand held spray wand, help kitty stand in shower & shampoo. (Adam's cat shampoo is great @ Walmart) Use lower water pressure, warm temp, start at head avoid face & ears. Rinse well & apply straight ACV, saturate infected areas. I gently bush & run a small heater fan in bathroom.
Skin irritations can be miserable, plus attract fleas & mosquitos. For outside pets add smashed garlic to solution. It has similar qualities & repells bugs. Hope this helps you rapidly cure the issue. Wishing you abundant Blessings!

So having something like a glob of ointment that stays on your finger is a key to a successful sneak attack. I treated one cat a year ago and she’s clean as whistle to date…
