THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GREAT ADVICE!!! My wife has 7 cats of varying ages. Her smallish Long Haired Persian Type Cat seems to get ear mites often. This is great news for us!
Thank you for valuable information. Though it’s not easy figuring out how to apply those when explained by words., would you make videos on how to do the remedies visually on cats?
It sounds like your cat was injured. Is/Was he an indoor/outdoor kitty? Could he have been in a cat fight? Did you take him to the vet? 10 months later, is your cat okay? His ears?
I bought a bottle of Pet Armor mite treatment drops because the price dropped to $1.50 a bottle. I used this for a few weeks and it greatly reduced the mites. My cat would shake his head and clumps would come flying out. But it wasn’t getting 100% of the “ coffee grounds” out. Q tips didn’t help much. So I put my cat in the shower (with a glass door closure and a hand sprayer). I gave him a shower with warm water and baby shampoo. I kept spraying in his ears. It was a gentle water pressure and he kept shaking his head and crying but after I turned off the water, there was no signs of mites. His ears were super clean and a cute pink inside. I towel dried him and let him lay in the sun to groom himself. He looks so clean and happy! I will keep giving him the drops to help prevent more mites.
I used coconut in a syringe. But I used too much and my cat shook her ears very hard. It took care of the mites and her ears were very clean. However she had a lot of oil on her fur and during the initial hard ear shaking she got a huge hematoma in her ear. Had to take her to the emergency animal clinic on labor day and it cost me $1200. Included a blood test. Now her beautiful ear is bent. Our get offered to do reconstructive surgery. This is insane!!!!
I am so sorry to hear that!! Coconut oil is excellent for cleaning cats ears BUT it is important never get it down the ear canal. Instead of a syringe, use a cotton swab/ball to apply and clean the ears.
It's important not to go in too deep in the ear, so that may be a danger when using q-tips. If you don't feel confident with q-tips, cotton balls are another very safe and easy option.
What about 7-8 week old kitten. She is feral i cleaned her ears but inside deep down still alot too clean. Any suggestions? I do have acv, cocunut and olive oil.
Thank you for your comment! It can take time to see more significant change further into the ear as it is harder to reach and clean. What I like to do is warm up (not too hot, just warm enough to be liquid) some coconut oil and add a few drops to the ear and massage it in. It helps soften the build up and will also help kill any bacteria or critters that may be in there. Do this for a few days, you should start seeing the debris clear.
Well garlic can cause anemia when used in any form on cats so…also Castrol and neem oil would be the top remedy…1ml neem oil to 10ml of Castrol oil. 3-5 drops x2 daily for a week, then off for a week. Then continue until 21 days have elapsed because of the mites life cycle. Alternating one week of application and a week of no application.
A mix of half and half can be beneficial for sure, just be sure to only use 1-2 drops of the mixed oils in the ear and massage. Do this daily for about a week. Do not overdo it as we don't want oil build up in the ears. Let me know how it goes!

In the end, I decided to take my cat to the vet because I noticed he was losing fur, and I suspected he might have scabbies. It turns out he does indeed have scabbies. My vet sold me this soap and recommended washing him with it three times a week for a month. However, once I got home, I did some research and found that it is widely stated on the internet that permethrin is extremely toxic to cats.
@@spookycupcake4943 I am surprised your vet recommended this soap to you as cats don't have the necessary enzymes to break this ingredient down and will lead to poisoning. @@Zumalka-Natural-Pet-Care Hello Dr, I hope you're doing well. I wish you and your family a happy and prosperous New Year. Thank you for your response; you’re lovely, and I truly appreciate you. 🥰 I'll give you more détails because I'm confused too. When I visited the vet, the doctor informed me that my cat had scabbies. He administered an injection of 2% ivermectin. The vet also prescribed a 1% permethrin soap to be used 3 times a week for 1 month and ear drops containing permethrin as well, to be applied twice daily for 1 week. On the third day of the ear drop treatment, I bathed my cat for the first time using the prescribed soap. Towards the end of the bath, I noticed his legs trembling, but I didn’t realize it was because of the soap. I thought he was scared of the water, as I’d never bathed him before. Later that evening, I started researching and discovered that permethrin is extremely toxic to cats. I immediately stopped the treatments prescribed by my vet. My cat remained unusually sleepy, which was unlike him, as he is typically very playful. He also ate and drank much less than usual. After a week, his condition hadn’t improved, which began to worry me. Fearing dehydration might worsen his condition, I started feeding him fluids using a syringe-a mix of chicken broth, honey, turmeric, and coconut water-about 40 mL throughout the day. I also fed him boiled chicken breast daily. I noticed improvement after just 1 day, and by the third day, it seemed like he was back to his usual self. When I confronted the vet, on the phone, about the medications he prescribed, he claimed that small doses of permethrin are safe for cats. He said he regularly uses these medications on cats without any issues and suggested that my cat’s health state was due to something else. He asked me to bring my cat back to the clinic, but by then, I had lost trust in him and I also couldn’t afford another visit to the vet. Regarding my cat’s ears, the vet did not examine the black residue under a microscope but said it was just dirt and not an ear infection. Despite this, he prescribed the antibiotic ear medication. I doubt the vet’s diagnosis of the ears because, one, he didn't use a microscope, and two, when he cleaned them, there was a large amount of black residue, even though I had already removed a significant amount beforehand while treating my cat with olive oil and garlic at home. Currently, my cat is doing well. Thanks to God. As for the scabbies, it seems to have been cured by the ivermectin injection, as he no longer loses fur, and hair has started regrowing in the previously bald spots. Regarding the ears, I see a little bit of black residue, but it might just be dirt. However, I see my cat scratching his ears sometimes. Maybe once or twice a day. In case he also had ear mites, do you think the ivermectin injection could cure it as well ? I hope it can.

Hello, Do you have any tips for removing ear mites that come up from the ear canal to the surface of the inner ear? I'm having a hard time removing the many tiny black spots that settle near the hairs at the entrance of the ear, even when rubbing. I’ve tried using coconut oil, green tea, and apple cider vinegar with cotton pads and cotton swabs, but it’s still difficult. Sometimes I give up after a few minutes because my cat isn’t very cooperative and won’t tolerate being held in place against his will for more than 15 minutes. I'm also afraid to hurt him by rubbing too much or too hard the same spot.
If symptoms persist more than 1-2 weeks while using the natural home remedies suggested, I would recommend having your pet checked by the vet to be sure nothing more serious is going on.
Wow , Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. I’m have two kittens that the owner can no longer keep and I took them in and they have ears mites and this information is very important. I also have dogs and I let them play with each other I didn’t new that the kittens have ear mites until one of them was crying and Shaking they ears so I looked in size and so much Suff in they ears, cause the owner said the cats never outside so I thought ok they clean cats and they looked healthy. So now I’m going to treat the kittens ears and the dogs also just in case.
So glad you helped those kittens. For future reference, I always keep my foster babies or any new animal seperate room, until i can take them to the vet and make sure they don't have any contagious illness. That way your pets don't run the risk of getting sick .
I use cotton ball to clean my cat ears with coconut oil or olive oil but I noticed tha even I do it gently the cotton shows some blood 😢😢and I am worried about that. Clean the brown wax stuff but I am hesitating to do the cleaning twice a day . Also I start giving him collaidal silver in a droper in the mouth. But he is not even meawing or asking for treats 😢
I am so sorry to hear this!! It is more likely that infection has set into the ear so, I would recommend a quick visit to the vet to see what is going on. Please feel free to contact our support team at Zumalka as well. We will be happy to help!!!
You do not need to wash off the DE after 24 hours. The powder works by dehydrating and killing the mites, and leaving it in the ear allows it to continue its action. Apply the DE once every three days.
Hii I have a question how do you clane the cats ears using coconut oil I have organic extra virgin coconut oil is that good to use for my cat I need help step by step I also have organic honey
You can warm the oil so that it is liquid and then put a few drops in you cats ears. You can then clean gently using a cotton ball to get the excess dirt and wax out of the outter ear (do not go in too far). Then you can massage your cats ears to get the oil to spread throughout the ear (your cat will like this). Then leave it and start again the next day as needed.
Hi thank you for the tips ❤ I’m about to do the garlic and olive oil, but I was wondering, do I keep the cloves whole or crush them. Thank you. I also have apple cider vinegar and water of course, could I do both? Thank you x
Keep the garlic whole or cut in chunks, so the oil will get the medicinal properties of the garlic without getting the actual garlic on your pet's skin. And yes you can for sure do both, just maybe not at the same time.
You can clean with the vinegar to kill bacteria and the mites, as for the baby oil, you can for sure use it to sooth the ear after cleaning if you like.
I tough garlic is poison for Cats and my cat male I am trying to put apple cider and he licks all day long waooo ! He didn't like coconut oil I don't know what to do?

How do you get your cats to hold still? They turn their head so much i can’t even hardly shine a light to look, much less clean out their ears with swabs and apply medicine (honey, aloe, or spray).
@@ezwiththehardware yes, wear chainmail! Lol... For some reason, I'm very lucky when it comes to giving cats a bath, but there have been a few episodes over the years... The best method I've come up with, is to used the kitchen sink, or maybe a plastic container for you. Fill about 1/3 up with warm water. Talk continuously to your kitty, and try to keep it calm. Wet it down with a sprayer, warm water, use Dawn dishwashing liquid... Lots of soap, and rinse very well when finished. Be sure to get between the toes! It's almost impossible to help with just words typed, there's so much I could add... All I can say is, good luck!
Tea tree oil is tricky as only 7-8 drops of 100% tea tree oil can be fatal to cats and dogs. I would steer clear of this option unless it is professionally mixed at a % that is safe to use on their skin.
Hello, Currently, it has been 3 days since I started putting 5 drops of a mixture of olive oil and coconut oil into each of my cat's ears, into the canal, once a day. I intend to continue for 7 days, then stop for 7 days, and repeat the same procedure for another 7 days. I would like to know what you think of this mixture, dear doctor. I know that in your video, you mentioned olive oil, so I’m not sure if adding coconut oil is a good idea. Do you think it is beneficial? I would also like to know if you would recommend infusing a clove of garlic into this oil mixture before using it. Moreover, I’ve noticed that every time I put this mixture into my cat’s ears, the inside becomes red, and the ears feel warm to the touch. Please let me know your thoughts, as this is very important and I'm afraid I'm hurting my cat
No these are different issues however, some of the mentioned home remedies can still be helpful as the natural ingredients can be effective antifungals as well.

I have a question and concern, hopefully someone can help me with. I have 2 stray kittens around 8 weeks old. One has so much infection coming out of it's little eyes and nose! So bad that it could only breathe through it's little mouth! And at first it couldn't see at all, because of the dried, thick infection covering it's eyes! 😔💔 I've started it on Amoxicillin and benadryl. And I can already see improvements after just 3 days! Also, someone told me that baby oil is good to "smother out" ear mites, and kill them. I've used it twice now, since last night. But my question and concern is, .. Is baby oil safe to use for kittens with ear mites? I've not really found much information about it. If it's not safe to use in their ears, do I need to remove it somehow? I'm going to start using one of the suggested home remedies from this video. But I'm now concerned about the baby oil I've used. 😔 This video is more valuable than I can express!! Thank you so much for all this valuable information!!
Thank you for your comment and I am so sorry to hear about these poor little kittens. They are fortunate to have a caring person like you take care of them! I personally have never used baby oil for my cats ears, instead I would recommend coconut oil. It has more medicinal properties and for sure is safe for cats ears and even safe if they lick it. If ever you need more natural products to help these little kitties recover, be sure to reach out to us at support@zumalka.com. Our team of specialists will be happy to guide you along the way.
That is very true, however, the treatment in question I talk about is not to give garlic to your cat to eat but to use it in a treatment form where you get the benefits of the garlic without it being ingested or detrimental to your beloved cat. It is very safe to use in the way I indicate in the video.
Hard pass on your advice. Garlic is considered to be about five times as toxic as onions for cats and dogs. Onions, garlic, chives, and leeks are in the Allium family, and are poisonous to both dogs and cats. ingesting garlic may result in the destruction of a cat's red blood cells, a deadly condition known as hemolytic anemia. In severe cases, even a small amount of garlic (approximately one clove or 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder) can lead to organ damage, organ failure, or death in a cat.

I'm also afraid to hurt him by rubbing too much or too hard the same spot.
What if i put a tiny bit of neem powder in some warm coconut oil?
Neem powder is great in calming and soothing minor skin irritation and rashes, so yes you can for sure try that for your cat's ears.
Would garlic and water work?
Should I pause the treatment for a week, after the first 7 days even if some dark stuff keep coming out of the ear canal ?
If symptoms persist more than 1-2 weeks while using the natural home remedies suggested, I would recommend having your pet checked by the vet to be sure nothing more serious is going on.
Can I use simple Eatable vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar please reply I'm cat is facing this ear mites I can't see her this condition
I'm sorry no white vinegar will not be as effective as apple cider vinegar.
I am so happy that this video is useful to you and all your pets! Thank you for sharing.
You should put the collodial silver not in the mouth but in the ear 5 drops it worked my my 2 cats i did it for two weeks blessings.
I used olive oil and castor oil
Can u tell me if it worked and how to use?
If I use food grade DE, do I need to wash it off after 24 hours and how often do I apply it?
You do not need to wash off the DE after 24 hours. The powder works by dehydrating and killing the mites, and leaving it in the ear allows it to continue its action. Apply the DE once every three days.
Love the variety of natual remedies. However, the HomeoAnimal product is the BEST!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
i bought some baby-oil since it was recommended but you don't list it here. should I use the cheap apple-cider vinegar I have instead?
You can clean with the vinegar to kill bacteria and the mites, as for the baby oil, you can for sure use it to sooth the ear after cleaning if you like.
I tough garlic is poison for Cats and my cat male I am trying to put apple cider and he licks all day long waooo ! He didn't like coconut oil I don't know what to do?
Thank you for your comment!! For sure it is not recommended to give garlic or onions for your dog or cat to eat. In this video, the garlic properties to fight bacteria and inflammation are transmitted in the olive oil (garlic is soaked in the olive oil. ONLY the olive oil is applied to the ear(s) so your cat gets all the benefits without any worries about toxicity. Give it a try!!
How do you get your cats to hold still? They turn their head so much i can’t even hardly shine a light to look, much less clean out their ears with swabs and apply medicine (honey, aloe, or spray).
I had the same problem. Wrap your cat in a blanket to the neck area and hold him/her in your lap. Makes it so easy to put in drops or shine a light.

@@savannahd640 Any advice for giving a cat a bath lol?

How is tree tea oil?
Tea tree oil is tricky as only 7-8 drops of 100% tea tree oil can be fatal to cats and dogs. I would steer clear of this option unless it is professionally mixed at a % that is safe to use on their skin.
@@Zumalka-Natural-Pet-Care Thank you so much. That's very useful information.

Castor oil and or coconut oil
Which one did you use and which on is better
Hello,
Currently, it has been 3 days since I started putting 5 drops of a mixture of olive oil and coconut oil into each of my cat's ears, into the canal, once a day.
What mixture are you using when you notice the ears go red? What are the symptoms in the ear before you use the mix?
Is mites and fungus the same? Because my cats tested positive for fungus in the ear, but they have that exact symptoms as mites
No these are different issues however, some of the mentioned home remedies can still be helpful as the natural ingredients can be effective antifungals as well.
Manuka honey is an anti-fungal.
We suspect our cat has ear mites or some type of ear infection, but it’s also causing her eyes to be swollen. Anyone know what this is?
Thank you for your comment!! IF there is itchy ears and swelling of the eyes, you cat may be having some sort of allergic reaction, or if there is infection, it may be spreading to the eyes as well. Best to have her looked at to be sure. I hope your cat feels better soon!
Thank you so much. I have a couple of barn cats and two spoiled indoor-outdoor cats that from time to time suffer from ear mites. I love these guys and galls the barn cats hate being inside except to say hello and maybe get a special treat like a taste of fresh trout. 😊
Aww I'm glad they have you looking out for them!
Is hydrogen peroxide safe for cats ear cleaning?
It is not the recommended choice as it dries out the ears a lot.
Since when Cameron diaz is a veterinarian?0-o
Garlic makes cats quite sick. If my other cat licks this from the other's ears it could be a problem.
Yes it is best to keep cats isolated if possible during treatment.
i use baby oil and clean daily itis clearing it up it has aloe vera in it
did it work ?

I read an article from a vet on the internet and they said it was good to use but to get the unscented.
He said to use it for 7 to 10 days and wait to see if it has cleared up and if not you can use it again.
He said it's perfectly safe.
I'm going to give the apple cider vinegar a try. I will give an update in 10 days.
I look forward to hearing back from you on your experience!
It’s been 10 days… where are the results
Sorry, so late on my reply. My cat is a American curl and has very hard ears it's hard to look to see if they have cleared all the way up I have noticed improvement in the scratching of the ears. I will continue until I no longer see her scratching.
@@amyb8046 how’s the result now?
@@amyb8046 hello, can you give us an update please ?
I have a question and concern, hopefully someone can help me with.
I have 2 stray kittens around 8 weeks old.
One has so much infection coming out of it's little eyes and nose! So bad that it could only breathe through it's little mouth! And at first it couldn't see at all, because of the dried, thick infection covering it's eyes!
😔💔
I've started it on Amoxicillin and benadryl.
This video is more valuable than I can express!!
Garlic isn't good for cats
When I close my eyes and listen to this, I could almost swear it's a computer generated voice! Great advice though...
LOL it's really me talking! I am happy you liked the advice. Stay tuned for more videos weekly!

I have several stray cats outside that i feed. What is the option for those cats? I cant pick them up since they are not tame.
That is for sure more tricky. Sadly I don't have any home tips that do not require at least some kind of contact with the cat.
I hope your kitty is a happy kitty with no more ear mites! 🐾🐾👍
That is great news, I am happy the product worked for you. It's a product that includes Pyrethrins, very good for mites!
