Paula's Choice pro tip: Buy the body versions of their exfoliants instead of the face ones.
Their "body" exfoliants have the same active ingredients at the same concentrations as their facial products, but in much larger bottles for much less per unit. For example, I've been using their BHA 2% "body" treatment on my face for some time now with great results. I just use a small amount. The "body" exfoliant is $28 for 210ml, whereas the "facial" BHA lotion is $32 for 100ml. This works out to about a 58% savings. I believe that this is the kind of savvy shopping that Paula would approve of 😂

PC is the first brand that I’ve ever been motivated to use consistently from my results, but I avoid the “trend” ingredient products and just stick with the ones that work for me. They also run 20%+ sales often so you can typically get them at a discount. (And I figure it’s more affordable in the end if I’m actually using the product up Vs. contantly trying/getting rid of drugstore that doesn’t work for me.) I love all the guidance from your videos though, so helpful to navigate through all the products regardless of where you buy them! ❤️

I think Paula's Choice still has some great formulas in their line, but I'm disappointed over all with the direction the brand is taking. What attracted me to it in the first place was the influence of Paula Begoun. Her whole philosophy as a consumer advocate for skincare and beauty products was very no nonsense and focusing on saving consumers time and money by cutting out unnecessary and gimmicky products. Now instead of having a simple product range to target specific concerns, there's just so much fluff. The brand is becoming what it was trying to respond against in the first place and engages in many of the marketing tactics Paula herself has criticized.
I do still buy their 2% BHA body treatment which I love for my KP and ingrowns. I actually use a small dab of this on my face as well instead of buying a separate facial exfoliant serum. It's the same active ingredient at the same concentration, but because it's a "body" treatment you get a way bigger bottle that lasts forever!

Yeah I've been using Paula's Choice products for over 15 years... And I really love them but the prices just keep climbing and the products just keep getting more gimmicky.
      Still I religiously buy the:
      Cleansing oil
      Clear cleanser
      1% retinol booster
2% BHA (I prefer the resist BHA for oily skin)
      Shine stopper
Those are all on my holy grail list so I'll continue to buy... But if I could find a less expensive replacement that I love, I definitely would switch!

I recently watched a video from a skinfluencer that was about some of the things people still fear monger that annoyed him and fragrance was one of them. And he also happened to mention how it's not that common to be allergic to fragrance so people should stop making those who do like fragrance in their skincare feel bad or call out for not making fragrance free products. I think if you like fragrance in your product and aren't affected by it, then more power to you, you do you. However fragrance allergies are really common and I, for one, have experienced the allergy in many different forms and in many different places over the years, it's very annoying. Also for a brand to not include fragrance free option, they are excluding people from using their brand. Yes, there are other brands for them to use, but they shouldn't be forced to.

Hi Dr. Dray. I’m a 58 yo woman with fine lines mainly around my mouth and many on my forehead. I am also prone to acne on my chin and milia. I’ve been washing my face in the shower with Body Merry Glycolic Acid wash, at least 4x/week, and Elemis Superfood Cica Calm Cleansing foam at night before bed. I follow my night time routine with LilyAna Naturals Retinol Serum high potency 2.5% Retinol-Niacinamide Hyaluronic Complex which is then followed by Neutragena Rapid Wrinkle Repair. Lately on Tuesday and Saturday nights I have substituted the Retinol Serum and Neutrogena with Derma-E Overnight Peel AHA Exfoliant Facial. My daytime routine consists of Vitamin C oil which is allowed to penetrate before adding my EltaMD sunscreen and Neutragena Rapid Wrinkle Repair. Fast forward to Tuesday. I went to the dermatologist for persistent acne on my chin and occasional breakout on my upper chest and between my shoulders. She asked me to purchase Epionce Purifying Wash and Epionce Lytic Sport TX as well as Winlevi Cream 1%. How do I apply these and still be able to keep up with an anti-aging routine that has worked really well for my sun damaged aging face? Thanks for any insight you may give me.

Even though many people are tolerant of certain skincare ingredients (inc.botanical & non-botanical fragrance), we have to also be tolerant of those who may not be, and should never be smug. Although I don't wish it upon anyone...anyone can spontaneously develop an irritation to an ingredient that they were otheriwise OK with. Thankfully we have Dr Dray's vast back catalogue of videos to refer to, either for ourselves, or to help out others. Although my skin is not sensitive, I still like to know that there are fragrance free options out there, particually for leave-on products. Dr Dray never pushes her beliefs on anyone and rightly leaves it up to us to make up our own minds about the facts.

It was a pleasant surprise to find a niacinamide serum with 2-5% - PC's/other brands' niacinamide are usually 10 - 20% which I know are unnecessary percentages and potentially irritating from your previous videos. I also liked this has panthenol too and recently saw your video about panthenol.

When I was working as an actor, I had a bad case of contact dermatitis to scented laundry detergent and softener and had to perform onstage with bumpy, flaky skin - our makeup artist was able to cover the redness but told me texture was impossible to cover! I have been using Paula's choice for many year, I am 52 and people fall on their butts when I tell them. They think I am 35. When I am with hubby they think I am his daughter lol. I kid you not her stuff works. I use the retinol, the serum and bha exfoliant. The biggest advice is to prevent aging.i have use SPF since my 20's everyday all year round and I do not tan. Once a week I use her moisture mask. I use Clinique lotion everyday as well. I have very few wrinkles. If you care for your skin and prevent aging.

I've been looking for an unfragranced niacinamide body lotion with at least 5% niacinamide. The only one I found is cetaphil but they don"t specify the percentage of niacinamide. I might try the PC one when they have a 20% off sale. It will be good to have one I can use on my face and body.

A bit of an angry vlog, but I have learned so much from Dr. Dray, Cerave all the way for me…with a little Cetaphil thrown in the mix. I find all of Neutrogenia’s products too drying at my age. Just purchased Paula’s choice mineral sunscreen…love it, no cast and gentle on the eyes.

I am with you. I love Paula's Choice Calm Collection, it works well on my sensitive skin. I tried Cetaphil and Cerave for less cost but they have Niacinamide in everything and my skin does not handle it well. So back to Paula's Choice for me. I can use a little Niacinamide so I use the Vichy Prebiotic Serum a couple times a week. Thanks for your video again.

I’m also using the weightless body treatment 2% BHA (salicylic acid + antioxidants ) ….. is it too much???

Hi Dr Dray I find the PC body moisturisers work great on my very dry skin for the face - much bigger size and therefore better value. I would like to try this one, as my skin tolerates 5% niacinamide much better than higher percentages and the shea with non fragrant plant oils are always a star ingredient for me. For some reason PC products don't irritate my hypersensitive, rosacea and eczema prone skin and their body butter works great as a thick/occlusive night cream for me in the colder months - I like the clinical ultra dry face moisturiser during the day, as it has no greasy residue. Using the larger sized body products allows me to slather on enough to keep my skin comfortable, without worrying it will only last a month like a 50ml product can. This particular serum looks like an extra moisture layer without being too heavy and at that size will last on the face/neck/chest for a decent length of time. I don't use these things on the body - I go through vats of moisturiser on my extremely dry/eczema prone body skin and use something far more affordable twice a day or sometimes more - I am so so dry and it's been worse now I'm in true menopause. All in all this is something I will probably buy/try for the face, but not for the body. Best wishes.
