Hargreaves they done so dirty, but also the fact they didn't even mention or bring sloane into the story. Seems like multiple timelines was their way out. Very disappointing end 😞
he is the shows villain. He bought children, raised them in isolation, experimented and abused them. The show is about breaking away from your abuse and trauma, it's all they know and they go back to it because they have trauma bonded together. They only escape their trauma at the end of the show through group suicide because everytime they come together "their worlds end" because of their trauma bond. Please get better media literacy.

@@Vormiersoul Five and Lila had way more screen time together than she did with Diego throughout the entire series (esp 2) and it was always the sort of push/pull interactions that usually lead to romance. I never understood why Lila would like Diego as a romantic partner.
I hate that they introduced and combined the concept of the two getting stuck in time randomly with the concept of justifying cheating as sexual needs.
THIS. I also hate the fact that it was SO unnecessary to the plot. If they were dead set on sticking those two together, it would have been a great way to have them deepen their connection as siblings/friends, and to truly reconcile about their past of him killing her parents and both being used and manipulated by the handler. Also, the age gap felt gross. Whether it was played as Five being "63" with a mid 30 y/o Or a mid 30 y/o with a 21 y/o. It just felt gross on all fronts.
She never loved Diego. It was very obvious. It made total sense. 5 doesn’t know what normal is and is seeking stability, hence why he rejoins the CIA. Diego had obviously lost passion for life and was just chugging along and Lila deeply wanted excitement in her life again. It makes perfect sense. You lack media literacy and are obviously too young and immature to write anything with depth.
I actually cried in the series finale not because it was sad, but because I realized how much better this could've all been. So character assassination across the board
They fully lost me at s3, I'm just watching it for fun now! It's easier this way 😂 I'm going to invest in the comics since the author is going to do his own thing and also continue past the tv series. 😊🎉

Luthor and Diego were underused Alison was let of the hook for Season 3 Klaus was straight up character assassinated Five and Lila were forced into a relationship without thinking about the characters or the time you had to develop it Ben was a plot device who still is just a giant douche Viktor just rehashed the Klaus plot from Season 3 but worse. Reginald wasted all the set up from previous seasons
i feel like klaus was the only one whose character wasn't assassinated, they just didn't do shit with his character besides what they usually do!! send him on side quests and watch the others progress through the plot
Exactly it made no sense for Victor to care especially since he ran far away from them all but was hell bent on saving the Ben that wasn’t even his Ben I feel they wanted Victor in the forefront and messed up it should’ve been klaus who has always had a close relationship with Ben I can’t even remember one scene they talked in this season

Seriously, why was it important for Viktor to be in the memory machine and not Klaus? It felt like a weird way to remind viewers that Viktor presented as female before and it had nothing to do with the actual plot.
@@timnebilton9209 I think it was more than anything to convey that Victor wanted to be an active participant, and how this version of Reginald was perfectly ok with that. I dont think it was to remind viewers that Viktor was trans, at all.

The studio gave um 6 episodes to get out which is very tough on the writers considering the momentum they had by the end of Season 3. So we were lucky to get what we got, bad n all at it was. It's a money thing ...the series was nt popular enough. Dems the breaks. Loved the whole thing. Great cast, great characters & the initial story line was great. Though it had great potential but just not Netflix's cup.of tea.

The whole season they were showing us what could have been, where the show could've gone and how all these plots and ideas (different timelines) don't matter, same goes for the characters, i get the impression that the writers were mad that all the hard work they put into this show ultimately meant nothing, nothing they did mattered and they reflected that in this season. That's what it feels like to me and it's just sad
Three seasons of watching characters try to save the world, only to find out in the fourth that the world was better without them. It actually sounds kinda cool in concept but boy, was this executed horribly.
Yes exactly. Sounds cool in retrospect. And kinda (?) makes sense. Cause as they said they’ve tried saving the world thrice but fail each time? Reminded me of the butterfly effect and its ending. So I get that. But like what a shoddy execution. So many things felt forced and bloated. Ugh and don’t get me started on what Lila and Five felt like.

Timeline Prime is where marigold does not exist and nothing happened on that day. Hotel obsidian Is a Timeline machine that lets you reset or create your own timeline. it is powered by Marigold. He could not defeat the guards or activate it without 7 keys containing marigold. he built a hotel around it to hide it. Reginald then released the marigold thus splitting the timeline. Marigold cannot exist without durango existing. so when marigold was released a human with Durango was Born, Jennifer. Timeline 1 ben and jennifer died, season 1 happened, then they went to the past and season 2 created a new timeline, timeline 2. instead of umbrella its sparrow academy. in this timeline they killed jennifer. the umbrella academy goes forward in time and meets sparrow academy cause reginald didn't adopt them and they created a grandfather paradox since their mothers died before they could give birth to them, the siblings aren’t supposed to exist. Reginald then activates the machine and creates a timeline where abigail did not die. in season 4 timeline reginald and abigail travel to earth after creating marigold. now these parts aren't exactly shown well. anyway abigail creates more marigold thus creating durango. Somehow jennifer is born with durango, in the future abigail gives the umbrella academy the marigold to get their powers back. Reginald discovers jennifer and hides her, abigail creates her cult thing by giving the cult thing items that bled through the timeline. anyway if marigold and durango fuse it creates a time bomb that destroys that timeline etc (again not really explained) If Ben in the original timeline met Jennifer and was killed, why didn't he meet her in the Sparrow Timeline? Reginald didn't bring him along this time Also why did OG Ben not tell anyone how he died considering Hargreeves didn't erase a ghost's memory maybe ghosts don't remember how they died etc. ben only appears a while after the incident. Sloan just didn't show up or wasn't even really addressed at all. Ray was also written off and only addressed with one line of dialouge. the umbrella academy went back to present time, ray couldn't come. in the present he is dead. Claire is not rays daughter. as for sloan it was a cut storyline given the episode count confirmed by the show creator. otherwise she is in the new timeline but no memories etc. What happened to the other version of Ben from the post credits of Season 3? Did the writers just forget? its showing ben during the crypto scam. its sparrow academy ben How did all the other Five's get to the subway diner? Did all their powers get enhanced through training or more marigold? Fives power is now a subway station that lets him go to the same points in different timelines. so thats 145k other timelines and those are all past/future bens. again short episodes so not the best explanation. basically its him from a year ago and him from 5 minutes in the future etc. Abigail didn't want to destroy another world so she wanted to revert things back to before reginald released Marigold. and she was sick from some alien disease. reginald brought her with him and put her on the moon while he created the umbrella academy etc.
@@destroyergaming29 Reginald didn't create "Timeline 1" when he released the marigold. Five explains it in the finale that the timeline was shattered upon their creation. The only "correct" timeline is the one that existed before they were created. We just happened to follow one "academy" from one of the various timelines throughout the 4 seasons.
@@GEKGanonyea the future five that five talked to in the dinner said that’s why the old version of them made the commission, to destroy and purge all timelines back to the original. When the babies were born it spilt it into the multiverse. The commission just didn’t know how to revert everything to the original timeline.
Another slap in the face was after EVERYTHING that Reginald had done in order to revive his wife, the second she says something about not wanting to live he's like "oh well okay then let's just die together"
I think they are trying to show that he's doing his best to accept it. He is really powerful and could fight a little harder - but for what? He knew the world really was ending.
I really hate how depressing and empty five is this season. In seasons 1-3 the character and the actor was so energetic, a wise ass, and all felt like he gave the role his all. But now he’s just meh. Not his fault since he has a horrible script. They really did my boy dirty.
they killed his character completely, especially with the fight sequence with diego in the last episode? in s1 to 3 five would have immediately jumped in to save his family, not fight THEM whilst they were in danger, it was ridiculously out of character when he ran off, practically leaving them to die
Klaus and Five were the biggest let downs for me. They barely used their powers and none of those parts were cool. The coolest part goes to Diego after flipping and controlling the bullets around him. After that the rest of the season was down hill
So many plot holes! Why did Reggie even keep Jennifer alive in this town instead of kill her the second she appeared and he knew she had Durango in her?!
I wondered about that too. My explanation was that his wife Abigale is with him in that timeline and wanted to keep on experimenting on her „elements“ she discovered. So he kept at least one of them as save as he could. But as that was never explained, I don‘t think the writers have ever thought about that question and left another plothole in this disappointing end

I thought that too except Abigail seems really insistent these elements were a mistake and that she should not have created them which makes me think that she does not wish to continue with experimentation. Yeah it was one of many disappointing plot holes. It just felt like the writers are around the table being like "oh wait... so why would (character) just do this instead of that's the case?" And Blackman was like "Because plot now stop asking questions and let's just get this over with." 😒

Getting rid of it means having the reaction between the marigolds and Durango happen. By the time they knew this they are already the marigold. If they went back in time, tried to kill Abigail in an alien planet from creating the marigold and Durango, they would still exist as a fallacy and wherever they return there is always some marigold left in the world (that is they themselves who shouldn't be existing). It can be explained that the chain goes incomplete and the timelines continue messing up until all marigolds are absorbed. I mean I feel just as much as the other person for the quality of writing, but other questions exist such as, could some of the siblings tried to have taken the marigold out of Lila and Allison so that they could live for their kids? Sure, but they could again bullshit on that by saying that's too unstable (even though Viktor did that with Harlan). They have left it at a place where questions can be very ambiguously answered but not in a satisfying manner.
Good point. Tbf there are multiple times throughout every season that he could’ve saved the world easily just by going back in time and yet he still doesn’t. It’s such an overpowered superpower honestly. Especially after he was able to reverse time by a few minutes or within seconds, but he never does that again.

NONE of it made any sense! Ben dying? WHY DIDN’T KLAUS JUST ASK HIM??? We was with Ben for yeeeaaaarrrrsss as a ghost! Wouldn’t Ben question that? Wouldn’t Reginald KNOW that that would be an issue seeing how his power was literally talking to the dead and it should have been clear that he was talking to Ben seeing how the kids were under 24 hour surveillance??? And Luther getting his ape body with his powers??? They aren’t connected and would have probably saved them money not having the ape suit so WHY?! Not to mention that Luther is all ashamed saying “don’t look at me” but within the same conversation said that his boss loved him and promoted him to a better time slot sooooo??? Diego finding out about Five and Lila because “Lila hates bracelets” even though the FIRST scene we were introduced to the character was her taking the bracelet Diego made and wearing it literally the whole season! I could go ON and ON! I wish we could get together as a group and sit Netflix down and get them to completely replace season 4!
The fact that there’s also multiple timelines now ruins the idea of the grandfather paradox from season 3. They would have simply split the timeline when Harlan killed their parents, no paradox necessary.

The only explanation i made in my head as to why Klaus never asked how Ben died was maybe due to Klaus not wanting to face the reality of Bens death. Klaus has always sturggled with confronting reality and death which is probably why he never asked. Idk. I'm definitely still confused/annoyed with you tho. lol

The idea of the grandfather paradox (which makes no sense using season 4’s logic since there should have just been a split timeline) was interesting and seeing Klaus develop his powers and his attitude towards them was great for instance. But, Alyson was unbearable and I hated how all of the characters just ignored that. Like, Luther, she just assaulted you, you’re not going to bring that up ever again or act like it even happened? And 5, why are you threatening Viktor instead of Alyson? She was the main thing I hated about season 3.

Five was the most dynamic, intelligent, brave, sardonic, witty and loyal character in the show. The writers absolutely destroyed all these qualities in S4. Five would NEVER betray Diego like that and he didn’t even really like or trust Lila. The affair was totally ridiculous and totally out of character for him. They dumbed him down and made him weak, selfish and uninterested in anything besides simping for Lila. Very pathetic. I was also very disappointed in the plot and the other characters’ stories. Everything felt very disjointed and the siblings didn’t appear to have any real connection to each other anymore. It was just sad.
For my head cannon the ending of season 3 is the end. They live their life’s being powerless and Reginald as president. With this the characters for the most part get what they want in the end and nothing changes…
season 4 technically isn't canon 1-3 where based on the comic, if what I heard is correct, then 4 wasn't because they didn't want to wait for the comic to finish...
I'm so disappointed in this season - especially my favorite, Klaus. I can't believe they enslaved him and made him basically a sex slave randomly after ruining 3 years of sobriety. If they wanted to go the sober route, they should've stuck to it with only 6 episodes, and if they wanted to show him falling from the progress he made with sobriety, there are a million ways to convey that without making him a sexual slave for literally no reason whatsoever that has nothing to do with the plot. It just felt like they did it for shock value and to torture our boy. I feel like he didn’t have any good moments this season. I was so excited when he got out and then he just gets buried 😫
The season was extremely painful to watch, it felt rushed and so many holes were left on the plot, also they didn't watch the other seasons, it felt deattached.

Victor transitioning is a huge part of the pacing. Season 3 was hurt by too many relationships not having levity. It was either still beefing or just hiding more secrets from each other. Never stops lol

I finished the season last night and I am still scouring the internet in search of ANY reason they chose to go they way they did. I finished Game of Thrones but I think Umbrella Academy season 4 takes the cake for the WORST ending to an otherwise good show I have ever seen. Truly wished I had never even started the show. Going to read the comics to wash the taste of this horrible season away.
43 special children were born on the same day. Hargreeves only adopted 7. Where the FUCK did those other 34 children go? Did they live regular, emotionally adjusted lives without Reginald Hargreeves?
Reginald reset the world at the end of season 3 so Marigold wasn’t released to create the other children. The only people that had Marigold in them at the end was the Umbrella Academy.
@@chrisfortin doesn’t make any sense because this isn’t their Reginald. Sparrow Ben made it out with memories intact but Sparrow Sloane didn’t. It’s sad to say, but this was just a case of bad writing.
You actually brought up a very good point about Five regarding the CIA It is very odd and out of character that Five didn’t catch onto the CIA being involved with the cult
another big issue i had with Five specifically was near the end when they need to do a spatial jump and Lila says “your family needs you” and that’s not enough motivation for him when his motivation in every other season has been to find and save his family!! like it’s been the most consistent motivation and they act like it never happened
The whole thing about deleting them from ever existing, it made the whole show pointless, the story about them, in the end, their story did not matter, the world is better without them, that's pretty efed up.
I love that concept But It would have worked 10x better if we got a whole episode of them accepting their fate, each one handling it differently Or have them try to stop the apocalypse only for them to realize they are the problem

Season 4 of umbrella academy feels the end of a group project, were the first three seasons were the first three pages of the report that we're worked on together by the kids who were trying, and the four season was hastily slapped together by the fourth kid who was only kind of paying attention up till now. It has that same last minute rush I just want to get this project over with feeling.
I always thought the way they treated diegos arc was terrible too. Making him a mail clerk when he would've at least been a security guard who was too serious. Had I written the character I would have made him a security guard who wanted to become a cop. Then at LEAST the CIA plotline would make more sense. As for sloan I had no idea she had died, they just washed her and ray away for plots sake. Theres a moment where klaus floats up and casually mentions "I can fly now" but literally is the one off time he does so. There is no shown increase in power. 1's Ape body - his ape body should not have existed. In fact! He should have just been super strong. The ape body was not his original body, it came about after a failed mission and an injection of a serum used on pogo when he almost died. So continuity wise it should not have existed when he took the marigold again. Claires daughter: They literally showed her as a bratty teen only for her and her mome to make up in later episodes like it was nothing. Like what the heck was that. I could literally rant on and on about this but I won't because I'm sure you all agree S4 was crap.

He used to be so sharp and would've figured everything out already, or at least have suspicions. I mean, dude literally works with them! No way he can have absolutely no idea! Five and Lilah was so unesesarry! If you're going to mix all the timelines together, there is absolutely a chance there was a timeline where the Sparrow academy was still alive! Its possible to bring them back! But the writers just said "Meh, this is over budget, lets just get this shit over with and give fans the worst script of their life!" This is just basically kugelblitz but without the good parts. You are going to justify that Lilah and Five only have eachother so that is why they turned their backs on one of the most important person in their lives? So maybe, don't get them stuck in an f-ing timeline like this! Their are still many ways the syory would still be good and satisfy their fans without being so ridiculous like this! Even Klaus high and drunk at the same time can think of a better story right now!
The sparrow academy sucked SOOO MUCH, all the characters were unlikeable. And the actor of Ben isn’t convincing as a douche. They should’ve let him be kind even in alternate versions

Five and Lila's love story could have worked IF they had taken their time to explore Five's growth from being in love with a mannequin to finally falling in love with a human. And how it changed him. But they just showed us a montage of Five & Lila being together and then the kiss happened and then before we know it, it's the final episode and that plot line has come to an end...without any development of Five or Lila...that annoyed me so much.
I HAVE to think that they were just looking to give one of their top characters a love story with what they had but they literally destroyed three characters to do it! I REALLY wanted one of the plot points to be that a version of a human Delores was in this universe and THAT would be why Five was so distracted and unable to stop the apocalypse this time! AND him sacrificing himself would have made sense because it would be the only way to save the one universe where she existed! But no…. We got this…

I can't be the only one who was shipping Five and Lila a little bit last season, and then they went with Diego so it was a brief ship but I remember thinking about it. 😅
I liked the idea of Five & Lila being trapped for years and falling for each other but there wasn't enough time to explore it so it felt unnecessary and rushed. & i hate that Diego and Five died hating each other, that was so dumb
Unpopular opinion... but I always thought these two have chemistry when Lila was first introduced. Their bickering was so much fun and I remember saying to my friend I wish these two get together instead of Lila and Diego way back in S3.

They did have that frenemies chemistry and on paper they would work, but watching it was so uncomfortable. I didn't feel any chemistry or spark between them in the 10 min of screen time they gave to devote to the relationship. And I can't divorce the characters from the actors enough to not be weirded out by the fact that Ritu Arya has known Aidan Gallagher since he was 15... creepy
This has been my comfort show and inspiration of my writing. It physically hurts that they did the story, the characters, the actors and the production this dirty. If they were only allowed 6eps they should have just let Five and Klaus be stuck in the timeline train to give their characters a proper send off. But no. It's bad. Steven didn't care what he did to the characters as long as he got his fanfiction made. He punished the cast, crew and the audience for that egotistical reason
What made no sense to me is that after Ben spiked all their drinks with the marigold which restored their powers...everyone just had some magical master control and gained new ones. It is never explained how Lila has laser eyes or that everyone is just as if not more powerful now. I would have assumed after 6 years without powers, they all would have been out of practice or, like the dysfunctional family they are, would have trouble controlling them. I have so many issues with this series finale, but the underuse of their powers annoyed me throughout the run.
I love love love this show, but… I guess I just don’t really know what happened to the characters? it’s like they switched writers for the last season. All that build up, all that development, in the end it felt like a poorly written wattpad au that some teen fan wrote or something. They lacked emotion, and when they did have emotion they usually didn’t seem to have an actual reason to feel the way they did. :/

I think Reginald being more of a husband than deadbeat, helicopter, intelligent, cunning, cocky, elusive asshole is a great nod to his motivation for adopting the kids. He reset the universe to be with his wife, I would assume he’d become less attentive and cunning to the kids because he doesn’t have to have a facade with them anymore. He loves his wife and he’d do anything if she asked.
There’s still holes in that plot he loved his wife but replaced her with a more attractive younger bot that he met at one of those parties instead of bringing his wife back the first 2 seasons
@@lavishmisfittink3214 I never saw Grace and Reginald as lovers, Grace was programmed to be a mother and caregiver for the kids. In Season 2, it could be applied that they’re in a romantic relationship but I would think they’ve explicitly kissed or showed romantic affection.
The behind the scenes photos of the cast and crew at the end was fantastic. I think this group has a great chemistry with one another, just a shame the writing ended up like this.
The 5 and Lila romance seemed like some sick fantasy of one of the writers. Those 2 actors deserve some kind of award for putting up, and going through, with it.
I thought it was gonna be a final battle with Reggie and then the family can fix everything and live happily but once I saw six episodes I knew that idea was cooked
Five is matured af bro. He has the most experience and most intelligent of them all. But here, he just wants to fuck and die lol. Here’s what I wouldve done: at the final episode, five meets the other fives who gabe up on saving the world. It was mentioned that they tried saving the world hundreds and thousands of times. So i think a better ending than just dying is to show that our five wouldnt give up. He was also stranded for 40 plus years alone. Then you’re telling me that he is now ready to give up his family that he was just reunited with again? Hell no. The ending should be a minute long compilation of them fighting various apocalypse just like the intro for s2. It would show case them fighting while five gibes a strong speech. And maybe.. he will accept his family name not just the nimber that reginald gave him.
Reginald should be the villain or at least he should look like a villain when it's all his wife's plan all along. Luther should mourn more about Sloane. Like showing he sometimes cries or gets upset when remembering Sloane because he never moved on. He could at least ask Reginald about her or try to find things about her while in the CIA. Diego feels kinda weird because he still a tryhard in becoming a hero but instead of making it mommy issue like before, they make it like middle age crisis issue. His power also could have showcased more in the CIA with at least there are a lot of pens to throw. Another is the fact that they literally make fun of him for his dad bod but he can suddenly do a perfect gymnastics jump and suddenly have abs when he got stripped. Alison had always been useless and they able to make her more useless that she already had been. She just used her powers 3 times and only perfectly won the first time, almost lost the second time and totally useless the third time plus got injured after and became totally unable to help any further. Klaus started getting high because he wanted to avoid seeing ghosts. But the fact that we don't even see him see a single ghost before he got his drugs is really upsetting. He suddenly can fly which what people have always wanted but not even in comic accurate way (no bare feet). They could've make him learn that when he's working with the gangsters which just a little later. He also can fully master his power when he was burried but no he just ask for a dog ghost for help. Also he should be the one who's closest with Ben, he could have try to call ghost Ben or be more worried about Sparrow Ben. Five is the same as everyone saying. Like he survived decades with just Dolores and now he suddenly in love with Lila? Like it's not just them having s*x for "survival like Lila said but they both literally fall in love with each other and lived months like a married couple. Also the Five variants could've been foreshadowed earlier. Make it clear that he's the one that put the note and even mention that probably one of his variant was the one who created the subway like the commissioner. Ben is literally just h*rny throughout the season. The first time he and Jenifer make out, the whole motel literally becomes a nuclear site. Then the rest of the sessions are just them getting AIDS? Where's the "reaction"? The Cleanse could've been big explosions for every Marigold taken but they turn them into a weird monster that somehow fixes the whole multiverse. Viktor is really underwhelm this season. What happened to "I ended the world TWICE". Well it's 3 now, and that's it. Just knock out those Keepers like you did in season 2. His power literally gets a nerd and the only moment he's actually good with his siblings is at the end when he only talk to Alison. Lila literally just make the sigma boys happy by proving that women = cheating. Yeah of course she'd be interested in what five is doing and the subway so being stuck pretty much inevitable. But make her at least think about Diego and her children. Like they literally just left the children for days without any guilt and somehow she don't even mention to the audience that she miss them during that 7 years? Like she could've been more hesitant when five suggested them to rest for months saying she should get home to her children, etc.
I felt like season 4 caused so many plot holes. all 3 seasons before connected with each other in some way and all the lore worked together, but season 4 felt so random. loads of past lore suddenly didn't work and I felt like I was watching a whole different show. And don’t even get me started on 5 and Lila’s relationship. It feels so weird to me that 5 is in a CHILDS body but his consciousness is ALMOST 60 years old. Literally nothing about that feels right 💀
I’ve been thinking about the ending since watching it last week. My brain has been going “did I just watch a Dexter/GOT tier finale?” - it’s hard to swallow and eight marigolds ain’t gonna make it any better.
The big problem in season four is the characters not actually doing anything. I thought the final season would be them discovering the infinite timelines then realizing what they had to do. Instead we got Klaus working as a prostitute.
After other seasons, I wondered if other viewers liked the same characters and scenes as me. After this season, I wondered if everyone was else was as disgusted and annoyed...
No they revealed everything important in season 1, The show was about growing up in an abusive household, and loving yet resenting your siblings. They ended "the world" what they knew and escaped their trauma, but their trauma bond kept pulling them away from their own worlds where they found joy back to the trauma of their childhoods. The show was about how you tend to recreate trauma when you go back to the people the trauma happened with. They could only escape their trauma by cutting off all ties from one another. Ben.....The most traumatized who only knows trauma and didn't find a outside world was the one they were trying to save this season. He kept putting them back into trauma and abuse because he couldn't move on, and when he did that relationship was abusive. Thats the metaphor. And in the end they all cut off ties, and thats why they're all gone in the end. The show has always been about trauma and abuse and how the people we survive and experience trauma with, even tho we love them, can often drag us back into that trauma and abuse, and sometimes you have to cut off all ties no matter how hard it hurts.

I’m not pllayer hating on how they chose to go and which direction they wanted to go in hell for 3 seasons whatever direction they wanted to pull me in I was all for it..until they rushed the ending here so it’s barely any justification when it comes to execution. They should have ended at Season 2 without introducing the sparrow academy and just having everything back to normal it would have been a satisfying end for their story

I can live with the Ending in general, but how everything developed before not.. I do have questions: - Why they had different powers - Why it worked at the end with the Durango, weren’t there more kids with special skills/marigold born? (or was that just in the other timeline?) - why they needed to get the powers back, why not giving just the glas of Marigold to Jennifer? - Why they got the powers when they drunk the Marigold, but not the mothers themselves instead of their babies in the 80ies? - There was still a rest of Marigold in the Glas, why the Durango worked at the end? - Why there was only on person with Durango and how she got it? - Why didn’t Hargreeves just tell them about Jennifer and they are not aloud to connect with her (because they could have understand that they have to end it and Hargreeves would loose his Wife?) - Why Ghost Ben never talked about his death with Klaus? - Where was the issue of the Tram time travels? Just for Five to talk to the other Fives? - why Five betrayed his brother? - Why Hargreeves Wife was on the moon in the Umbrella timeline? - Why Sparrow-Ben came with the others to the new timeline, but Sloane didn’t?
i’d say the other kids with marigold wouldn’t be a problem in the s4 timeline since they were stripped of their powers in s3. and i guess the remaining marigold would have technically been consumed by the Cleanse since the whole world was? but it’s still a weird unresolved issue

The white violin storyline was abandoned so quickly that i forgot it even happened😭 Also i hate the fact that they never made Alison use her ACTUAL POWER. She was given telekinesis even though Viktor had a similar power. The show also took the stranger things route with the teams dynamic.
Thanks to this i'm now fully commited to never watch a series unless it's fully finished. I will no longer waste my time on something that might end up becoming awful and disappointing.
Something that annoys me about Diego suddenly being incomletent because he lost his powers is Season 1 showed he was training on how to fight regardless of if he had powers
I have had watched till season 3 over 3 times, This is the 4th time after season 4 I realised there was no season4, season 3 was the last Beautiful show with three seasons
I hated how they turned Klaus from "sober for 3 years" to "I'm a thief and a junkie again" in a matter of seconds. He didn't struggle for even a moment, he just decided to give up the moment he got his power back. In season 1 they established that Klaus's seeing the dead tormented him, and the root of his addiction, and yet he had no difficulties with the dead at all (beyond the scare from the dog) in season 4.
His development and character change was rushed of course because of stingy ass Netflix, but I agree, I think he portrayed well how tired he is of trying to prevent the inevitable apocalypse over and again. He started enthusiastic in S1 and understands at the end of S4 that it's a losing battle, and they just need to give in. It makes sense Five's character became more docile.
I feel like the time jump at the start also really ruined stuff for this season. The fact that the first few episodes were spent catching up with the old characters and introducing new ones was a complete waste of time in a 6 episode season to wrap everything up. Seems like they didnt really know where to go with the plot after season 3 so they just filled it with way too much filler inbetween the really poor and few actual action scenes
What’s worse? A show that is cancelled too early or a show that gets a horribly rushed season like this one? I think if I had gotten a preview of how the show would turn out after season 2, I wouldn’t have minded if they cancelled the show.
I’m usually don’t like when shows do this, but I think this show could have used it. They should have split the season into two 6 episode parts to give the umbrellas a proper last season and a better goodbye. I’m not sure extra episodes would have helped with the writing but if they had more time to play with it could have been a stronger season. I don’t entirely hate it but there’s a lot of problems with it.

I was surprised 5 agreed to time travel considering him getting stuck in the past for most of his life. It didn't make sense at all
he is the shows villain. He bought children, raised them in isolation, experimented and abused them. The show is about breaking away from your abuse and trauma, it's all they know and they go back to it because they have trauma bonded together. They only escape their trauma at the end of the show through group suicide because everytime they come together "their worlds end" because of their trauma bond. Please get better media literacy.

I hate that they introduced and combined the concept of the two getting stuck in time randomly with the concept of justifying cheating as sexual needs.
THIS. I also hate the fact that it was SO unnecessary to the plot. If they were dead set on sticking those two together, it would have been a great way to have them deepen their connection as siblings/friends, and to truly reconcile about their past of him killing her parents and both being used and manipulated by the handler.

Seriously, why was it important for Viktor to be in the memory machine and not Klaus? It felt like a weird way to remind viewers that Viktor presented as female before and it had nothing to do with the actual plot.

The studio gave um 6 episodes to get out which is very tough on the writers considering the momentum they had by the end of Season 3. So we were lucky to get what we got, bad n all at it was. It's a money thing ...the series was nt popular enough. Dems the breaks. Loved the whole thing. Great cast, great characters & the initial story line was great. Though it had great potential but just not Netflix's cup.of tea.

Three seasons of watching characters try to save the world, only to find out in the fourth that the world was better without them. It actually sounds kinda cool in concept but boy, was this executed horribly.
Yes exactly. Sounds cool in retrospect. And kinda (?) makes sense. Cause as they said they’ve tried saving the world thrice but fail each time? Reminded me of the butterfly effect and its ending. So I get that. But like what a shoddy execution. So many things felt forced and bloated. Ugh and don’t get me started on what Lila and Five felt like.
1.) Abigail created Marigold/Durango (matter/antimatter) which ultimately destroyed their planet. Abigail Died and Reginald traveled to earth and released Marigold thus creating Timeline 1. Timeline Prime is where marigold does not exist and nothing happened on that day.
Hotel obsidian Is a Timeline machine that lets you reset or create your own timeline. it is powered by Marigold. He could not defeat the guards or activate it without 7 keys containing marigold. he built a hotel around it to hide it.
Reginald then released the marigold thus splitting the timeline. Marigold cannot exist without durango existing. so when marigold was released a human with Durango was Born, Jennifer.
Timeline 1 ben and jennifer died, season 1 happened, then they went to the past and season 2 created a new timeline, timeline 2. instead of umbrella its sparrow academy. in this timeline they killed jennifer. the umbrella academy goes forward in time and meets sparrow academy cause reginald didn't adopt them and they created a grandfather paradox since their mothers died before they could give birth to them, the siblings aren’t supposed to exist.
Reginald then activates the machine and creates a timeline where abigail did not die. in season 4 timeline reginald and abigail travel to earth after creating marigold.
now these parts aren't exactly shown well. anyway abigail creates more marigold thus creating durango. Somehow jennifer is born with durango, in the future abigail gives the umbrella academy the marigold to get their powers back. Reginald discovers jennifer and hides her, abigail creates her cult thing by giving the cult thing items that bled through the timeline.
anyway if marigold and durango fuse it creates a time bomb that destroys that timeline etc (again not really explained)
If Ben in the original timeline met Jennifer and was killed, why didn't he meet her in the Sparrow Timeline?

Also why did OG Ben not tell anyone how he died considering Hargreeves didn't erase a ghost's memory
maybe ghosts don't remember how they died etc. ben only appears a while after the incident.
Sloan just didn't show up or wasn't even really addressed at all. Ray was also written off and only addressed with one line of dialouge.
the umbrella academy went back to present time, ray couldn't come. in the present he is dead. Claire is not rays daughter. as for sloan it was a cut storyline given the episode count confirmed by the show creator. otherwise she is in the new timeline but no memories etc.
What happened to the other version of Ben from the post credits of Season 3? Did the writers just forget? its showing ben during the crypto scam. its sparrow academy ben

@@destroyergaming29 Reginald didn't create "Timeline 1" when he released the marigold. Five explains it in the finale that the timeline was shattered upon their creation. The only "correct" timeline is the one that existed before they were created. We just happened to follow one "academy" from one of the various timelines throughout the 4 seasons.

When the babies were born it spilt it into the multiverse. The commission just didn’t know how to revert everything to the original timeline.
Another slap in the face was after EVERYTHING that Reginald had done in order to revive his wife, the second she says something about not wanting to live he's like "oh well okay then let's just die together"
I think they are trying to show that he's doing his best to accept it. He is really powerful and could fight a little harder - but for what? He knew the world really was ending.

I really hate how depressing and empty five is this season. In seasons 1-3 the character and the actor was so energetic, a wise ass, and all felt like he gave the role his all. But now he’s just meh. Not his fault since he has a horrible script. They really did my boy dirty.

Klaus and Five were the biggest let downs for me. They barely used their powers and none of those parts were cool. The coolest part goes to Diego after flipping and controlling the bullets around him. After that the rest of the season was down hill

I wondered about that too. My explanation was that his wife Abigale is with him in that timeline and wanted to keep on experimenting on her „elements“ she discovered. So he kept at least one of them as save as he could. But as that was never explained, I don‘t think the writers have ever thought about that question and left another plothole in this disappointing end

Getting rid of it means having the reaction between the marigolds and Durango happen. By the time they knew this they are already the marigold. If they went back in time, tried to kill Abigail in an alien planet from creating the marigold and Durango, they would still exist as a fallacy and wherever they return there is always some marigold left in the world (that is they themselves who shouldn't be existing). It can be explained that the chain goes incomplete and the timelines continue messing up until all marigolds are absorbed.
I mean I feel just as much as the other person for the quality of writing, but other questions exist such as, could some of the siblings tried to have taken the marigold out of Lila and Allison so that they could live for their kids? Sure, but they could again bullshit on that by saying that's too unstable (even though Viktor did that with Harlan). They have left it at a place where questions can be very ambiguously answered but not in a satisfying manner.
Good point. Tbf there are multiple times throughout every season that he could’ve saved the world easily just by going back in time and yet he still doesn’t. The fact that there’s also multiple timelines now ruins the idea of the grandfather paradox from season 3. They would have simply split the timeline when Harlan killed their parents, no paradox necessary.

I liked season 3 much more than 4. I think it had some cool moments and character arcs. The idea of the grandfather paradox (which makes no sense using season 4’s logic since there should have just been a split timeline) was interesting and seeing Klaus develop his powers and his attitude towards them was great for instance.
But, Alyson was unbearable and I hated how all of the characters just ignored that. Like, Luther, she just assaulted you, you’re not going to bring that up ever again or act like it even happened? And 5, why are you threatening Viktor instead of Alyson? She was the main thing I hated about season 3.
They even changed their powers. Why? What was the point? I kept waiting to hear Allison say "I heard a rumor" 😢

Five was the most dynamic, intelligent, brave, sardonic, witty and loyal character in the show. The writers absolutely destroyed all these qualities in S4. Five would NEVER betray Diego like that and he didn’t even really like or trust Lila. The affair was totally ridiculous and totally out of character for him.
They dumbed him down and made him weak, selfish and uninterested in anything besides simping for Lila. Very pathetic.
I was also very disappointed in the plot and the other characters’ stories. Everything felt very disjointed and the siblings didn’t appear to have any real connection to each other anymore. It was just sad.

I'm so disappointed in this season - especially my favorite, Klaus. I can't believe they enslaved him and made him basically a sex slave randomly after ruining 3 years of sobriety. If they wanted to go the sober route, they should've stuck to it with only 6 episodes, and if they wanted to show him falling from the progress he made with sobriety, there are a million ways to convey that without making him a sexual slave for literally no reason whatsoever that has nothing to do with the plot. I finished the season last night and I am still scouring the internet in search of ANY reason they chose to go they way they did. I finished Game of Thrones but I think Umbrella Academy season 4 takes the cake for the WORST ending to an otherwise good show I have ever seen. Truly wished I had never even started the show. Going to read the comics to wash the taste of this horrible season away.
43 special children were born on the same day. Hargreeves only adopted 7. Where the FUCK did those other 34 children go? Did they live regular, emotionally adjusted lives without Reginald Hargreeves?

Reginald reset the world at the end of season 3 so Marigold wasn’t released to create the other children. The only people that had Marigold in them at the end was the Umbrella Academy.

another big issue i had with Five specifically was near the end when they need to do a spatial jump and Lila says “your family needs you” and that’s not enough motivation for him when his motivation in every other season has been to find and save his family!! like it’s been the most consistent motivation and they act like it never happened
The whole thing about deleting them from ever existing, it made the whole show pointless, the story about them, in the end, their story did not matter, the world is better without them, that's pretty efed up.

Season 4 of umbrella academy feels the end of a group project, were the first three seasons were the first three pages of the report that we're worked on together by the kids who were trying, and the four season was hastily slapped together by the fourth kid who was only kind of paying attention up till now. It has that same last minute rush I just want to get this project over with feeling.
I always thought the way they treated diegos arc was terrible too. Making him a mail clerk when he would've at least been a security guard who was too serious. Had I written the character I would have made him a security guard who wanted to become a cop. Then at LEAST the CIA plotline would make more sense.
As for sloan I had no idea she had died, they just washed her and ray away for plots sake.
Theres a moment where klaus floats up and casually mentions "I can fly now" but literally is the one off time he does so. There is no shown increase in power.
1's Ape body - his ape body should not have existed. In fact! He should have just been super strong. The ape body was not his original body, it came about after a failed mission and an injection of a serum used on pogo when he almost died. So continuity wise it should not have existed when he took the marigold again.
Claires daughter: They literally showed her as a bratty teen only for her and her mome to make up in later episodes like it was nothing. Like what the heck was that. I could literally rant on and on about this but I won't because I'm sure you all agree S4 was crap.

Five and Lila's love story could have worked IF they had taken their time to explore Five's growth from being in love with a mannequin to finally falling in love with a human. And how it changed him. But they just showed us a montage of Five & Lila being together and then the kiss happened and then before we know it, it's the final episode and that plot line has come to an end...without any development of Five or Lila...that annoyed me so much.
Or maybe he could’ve had a relationship with someone else.
I HAVE to think that they were just looking to give one of their top characters a love story with what they had but they literally destroyed three characters to do it! I REALLY wanted one of the plot points to be that a version of a human Delores was in this universe and THAT would be why Five was so distracted and unable to stop the apocalypse this time! They did have that frenemies chemistry and on paper they would work, but watching it was so uncomfortable. I didn't feel any chemistry or spark between them in the 10 min of screen time they gave to devote to the relationship. And I can't divorce the characters from the actors enough to not be weirded out by the fact that Ritu Arya has known Aidan Gallagher since he was 15... creepy
When I saw the finale I felt like season 4 were different characters. Like all the development from season 1-3 was meaningless.

At one point, I realized this could've just been a whole new show with a new IP.
This has been my comfort show and inspiration of my writing. It physically hurts that they did the story, the characters, the actors and the production this dirty. If they were only allowed 6eps they should have just let Five and Klaus be stuck in the timeline train to give their characters a proper send off.
But no. It's bad. Steven didn't care what he did to the characters as long as he got his fanfiction made. He punished the cast, crew and the audience for that egotistical reason
What made no sense to me is that after Ben spiked all their drinks with the marigold which restored their powers...everyone just had some magical master control and gained new ones. It is never explained how Lila has laser eyes or that everyone is just as if not more powerful now. I would have assumed after 6 years without powers, they all would have been out of practice or, like the dysfunctional family they are, would have trouble controlling them. I have so many issues with this series finale, but the underuse of their powers annoyed me throughout the run.
I love love love this show, but… I guess I just don’t really know what happened to the characters? it’s like they switched writers for the last season. All that build up, all that development, in the end it felt like a poorly written wattpad au that some teen fan wrote or something. They lacked emotion, and when they did have emotion they usually didn’t seem to have an actual reason to feel the way they did. :/
Klaus was the perfect example. He was mad for no reason at his sister like bro snapping for no reason when she the one been saving yo ass for years 😂😂😂

I think Reginald being more of a husband than deadbeat, helicopter, intelligent, cunning, cocky, elusive asshole is a great nod to his motivation for adopting the kids. He reset the universe to be with his wife, I would assume he’d become less attentive and cunning to the kids because he doesn’t have to have a facade with them anymore. He loves his wife and he’d do anything if she asked.

There’s still holes in that plot he loved his wife but replaced her with a more attractive younger bot that he met at one of those parties instead of bringing his wife back the first 2 seasons
@@lavishmisfittink3214 I never saw Grace and Reginald as lovers, Grace was programmed to be a mother and caregiver for the kids. In Season 2, it could be applied that they’re in a romantic relationship but I would think they’ve explicitly kissed or showed romantic affection.

The behind the scenes photos of the cast and crew at the end was fantastic. I think this group has a great chemistry with one another, just a shame the writing ended up like this.
The biggest villains of the season were the writers.
The 5 and Lila romance seemed like some sick fantasy of one of the writers. Those 2 actors deserve some kind of award for putting up, and going through, with it.
I thought it was gonna be a final battle with Reggie and then the family can fix everything and live happily but once I saw six episodes I knew that idea was cooked

Here’s what I wouldve done: at the final episode, five meets the other fives who gabe up on saving the world. It was mentioned that they tried saving the world hundreds and thousands of times. So i think a better ending than just dying is to show that our five wouldnt give up. He was also stranded for 40 plus years alone. Then you’re telling me that he is now ready to give up his family that he was just reunited with again? Hell no. The ending should be a minute long compilation of them fighting various apocalypse just like the intro for s2. It would show case them fighting while five gibes a strong speech. And maybe.. he will accept his family name not just the nimber that reginald gave him.

Reginald should be the villain or at least he should look like a villain when it's all his wife's plan all along.
Luther should mourn more about Sloane. Like showing he sometimes cries or gets upset when remembering Sloane because he never moved on. He could at least ask Reginald about her or try to find things about her while in the CIA.
Diego feels kinda weird because he still a tryhard in becoming a hero but instead of making it mommy issue like before, they make it like middle age crisis issue. His power also could have showcased more in the CIA with at least there are a lot of pens to throw. Another is the fact that they literally make fun of him for his dad bod but he can suddenly do a perfect gymnastics jump and suddenly have abs when he got stripped.
Alison had always been useless and they able to make her more useless that she already had been. She just used her powers 3 times and only perfectly won the first time, almost lost the second time and totally useless the third time plus got injured after and became totally unable to help any further.
Klaus started getting high because he wanted to avoid seeing ghosts. But the fact that we don't even see him see a single ghost before he got his drugs is really upsetting. He suddenly can fly which what people have always wanted but not even in comic accurate way (no bare feet). They could've make him learn that when he's working with the gangsters which just a little later. He also can fully master his power when he was burried but no he just ask for a dog ghost for help. Also he should be the one who's closest with Ben, he could have try to call ghost Ben or be more worried about Sparrow Ben.
Five is the same as everyone saying. Like he survived decades with just Dolores and now he suddenly in love with Lila? Like it's not just them having s*x for "survival like Lila said but they both literally fall in love with each other and lived months like a married couple. Also the Five variants could've been foreshadowed earlier. Make it clear that he's the one that put the note and even mention that probably one of his variant was the one who created the subway like the commissioner.
Ben is literally just h*rny throughout the season. The first time he and Jenifer make out, the whole motel literally becomes a nuclear site. Then the rest of the sessions are just them getting AIDS? Where's the "reaction"? The Cleanse could've been big explosions for every Marigold taken but they turn them into a weird monster that somehow fixes the whole multiverse.
Viktor is really underwhelm this season. What happened to "I ended the world TWICE". Well it's 3 now, and that's it. Just knock out those Keepers like you did in season 2. His power literally gets a nerd and the only moment he's actually good with his siblings is at the end when he only talk to Alison.
Lila literally just make the sigma boys happy by proving that women = cheating. Yeah of course she'd be interested in what five is doing and the subway so being stuck pretty much inevitable. But make her at least think about Diego and her children. Like they literally just left the children for days without any guilt and somehow she don't even mention to the audience that she miss them during that 7 years? Like she could've been more hesitant when five suggested them to rest for months saying she should get home to her children, etc.
I felt like season 4 caused so many plot holes. all 3 seasons before connected with each other in some way and all the lore worked together, but season 4 felt so random. loads of past lore suddenly didn't work and I felt like I was watching a whole different show.
And don’t even get me started on 5 and Lila’s relationship. It feels so weird to me that 5 is in a CHILDS body but his consciousness is ALMOST 60 years old. Literally nothing about that feels right 💀

I’ve been thinking about the ending since watching it last week. My brain has been going “did I just watch a Dexter/GOT tier finale?” - it’s hard to swallow and eight marigolds ain’t gonna make it any better.
The big problem in season four is the characters not actually doing anything. I thought the final season would be them discovering the infinite timelines then realizing what they had to do. Instead we got Klaus working as a prostitute.
After other seasons, I wondered if other viewers liked the same characters and scenes as me.
After this season, I wondered if everyone was else was as disgusted and annoyed...
Like what the hell happened? They were leading up to so many different things and dropped everything and made the story go left.
No they revealed everything important in season 1, The show was about growing up in an abusive household, and loving yet resenting your siblings. They ended "the world" what they knew and escaped their trauma, but their trauma bond kept pulling them away from their own worlds where they found joy back to the trauma of their childhoods. The show was about how you tend to recreate trauma when you go back to the people the trauma happened with. They could only escape their trauma by cutting off all ties from one another. Ben.....The most traumatized who only knows trauma and didn't find a outside world was the one they were trying to save this season. He kept putting them back into trauma and abuse because he couldn't move on, and when he did that relationship was abusive. Thats the metaphor. And in the end they all cut off ties, and thats why they're all gone in the end.
The show has always been about trauma and abuse and how the people we survive and experience trauma with, even tho we love them, can often drag us back into that trauma and abuse, and sometimes you have to cut off all ties no matter how hard it hurts.

I’m not pllayer hating on how they chose to go and which direction they wanted to go in hell for 3 seasons whatever direction they wanted to pull me in I was all for it..until they rushed the ending here so it’s barely any justification when it comes to execution. Great idea in theory bad in execution
@@princemaverik It was executed well I think people just wanted them to escape their trauma and get happy endings. The show has always been about reliving trauma and every season they escaped it and went right back to eachother.

I can live with the Ending in general, but how everything developed before not.. I do have questions:
- Why they had different powers
- Why it worked at the end with the Durango, weren’t there more kids with special skills/marigold born? (or was that just in the other timeline?)
- why they needed to get the powers back, why not giving just the glas of Marigold to Jennifer?
- Why they got the powers when they drunk the Marigold, but not the mothers themselves instead of their babies in the 80ies?
- There was still a rest of Marigold in the Glas, why the Durango worked at the end?
- Why there was only on person with Durango and how she got it?
- Why didn’t Hargreeves just tell them about Jennifer and they are not aloud to connect with her (because they could have understand that they have to end it and Hargreeves would loose his Wife?)
- Why Ghost Ben never talked about his death with Klaus?
- Where was the issue of the Tram time travels? Just for Five to talk to the other Fives?
- why Five betrayed his brother?
- Why Hargreeves Wife was on the moon in the Umbrella timeline?
- Why Sparrow-Ben came with the others to the new timeline, but Sloane didn’t?

i’d say the other kids with marigold wouldn’t be a problem in the s4 timeline since they were stripped of their powers in s3. and i guess the remaining marigold would have technically been consumed by the Cleanse since the whole world was? but it’s still a weird unresolved issue

Reginald Hargreeves didn't need to be the villain, but he did need to be the focus of the ending. It was a terrible final season.

How they could have fix Season 4?

2. The cleanse happened but Ben and Jen need to sacrifice themselves

Also i hate the fact that they never made Alison use her ACTUAL POWER. She was given telekinesis even though Viktor had a similar power. The show also took the stranger things route with the teams dynamic.
Thanks to this i'm now fully commited to never watch a series unless it's fully finished. I will no longer waste my time on something that might end up becoming awful and disappointing.
Something that annoys me about Diego suddenly being incomletent because he lost his powers is Season 1 showed he was training on how to fight regardless of if he had powers

I hated how they turned Klaus from "sober for 3 years" to "I'm a thief and a junkie again" in a matter of seconds. He didn't struggle for even a moment, he just decided to give up the moment he got his power back. In season 1 they established that Klaus's seeing the dead tormented him, and the root of his addiction, and yet he had no difficulties with the dead at all (beyond the scare from the dog) in season 4.
I cried they saved the world for nothing😭💔

I actually liked five in this season. He matured and was less charismatic/reactive but he felt soulful and sincere.
His development and character change was rushed of course because of stingy ass Netflix, but I agree, I think he portrayed well how tired he is of trying to prevent the inevitable apocalypse over and again. He started enthusiastic in S1 and understands at the end of S4 that it's a losing battle, and they just need to give in. It makes sense Five's character became more docile.
Also hate that we never get to see Reginalds world. Just a quick glimpse of him at the window releasing Marigold.

I feel like the time jump at the start also really ruined stuff for this season. The fact that the first few episodes were spent catching up with the old characters and introducing new ones was a complete waste of time in a 6 episode season to wrap everything up. Seems like they didnt really know where to go with the plot after season 3 so they just filled it with way too much filler inbetween the really poor and few actual action scenes
The Umbrella Academy began with a *BANG* and ended with not even the smallest of whimpers. It was beyond disappointing.

I’m usually don’t like when shows do this, but I think this show could have used it. They should have split the season into two 6 episode parts to give the umbrellas a proper last season and a better goodbye. I’m not sure extra episodes would have helped with the writing but if they had more time to play with it could have been a stronger season. I don’t entirely hate it but there’s a lot of problems with it.
The downfall started earlier in the series. It’s been going downhill for a while with moments of brilliance here and there.
