Honestly, they should have done what Venture Bros. did and have an 'The Adventure Continues!' ending. Have a big battle, the heroes win, but still fail to save the multiverse. So they pick themselves up, and get ready to try again. They'll stumble and fall, but they'll always have each other's backs no matter what. Because that's what family does.

I would have fleshed out this series with a lot of things. I don’t actually mind the Jennifer and Ben reaction thing to cause the cleanse. I just think the pacing was screwed and such a rushed season. I also didn’t mind the Lila and Five thing however I think it should have been more a moment of weakness and just a kiss. Lila was mistaken to do so and immediately thought of her family. Five however, fell for Lila - remember he really has a mind beyond his years and has never quite found happiness or proper love. When Lila and Five eventually make it back, the whole cleanse thing would happen (with some better writing). Five tells the family that sacrificing themselves was the only way to save the world/timelines. He has always been clever and almost manipulative (not necessarily in a bad way, always to help the family) - despite verbally criticising them the most. As they gather round in the circle and the mass is suffocating their bodies, we see the family holding hands. Lila takes Diego’s hand, the marigold being sapped from all of their bodies. As Lila goes to take Five’s hand, he blinks at just the right time onto the main body of the monster. He then makes a further gigantic blink pulling monster back into the timeline he spent many years in when he got lost. (The apocalyptic one). This would be Epic as we would see him scream as it took him a few moments to pull such a large thing into another place. Blinking the monster into the other timeline allowed his siblings and Lila to survive, the marigold being removed from their bodies and making them mortal again. Five however, was almost dead from the sheer volume of the blink he had just taken on. Lying on the ground with nothing left - alone back in the timeline he was once lost in, there is an uncanny feeling about going full circle from where season one started for him. Five accepts his fate as the monster takes his body and the remaining marigold whilst being unable to move. This completes the cleanse and we flash straight to where the siblings were left. The ultimate sacrifice from the mastermind of Five. Emotion from the family and their devastation. From potentially leaving them all to die as he originally blinked into the subway, to coming back and saving them all by sacrificing himself. A funeral for Five with the classic Umbrella Academy humour making it a bittersweet moment. This is now where we need to see a time skip ending showing the individual siblings - going from one to the other and capturing a moment of what they are doing in their mortal lives as the show comes to a close.

Not really Because honestly they took out the multiverse since they didn't introduce us to the multiverse well since throughout the series they pointed out to us that it was only a timeline and in the final season they put us in the multiverse But I feel like you have a point since it was just how it was written. But anyway, they introduced us well to it and I didn't like it, it's just my opinion.@@ZakanaHachihaCBC

I hated that they merely addressed Ray in a throwaway line, by stating that he just walked out on Allison and Claire, after all she went through to get them back. Having him and Claire die in an accident would have made much more sense. Also, spending more time dedicated to Lila gradually falling out of love with Diego would make more sense, and there wouldn't be any need for an unnecessary love triangle.

I think that Lila and Diego should stay in love, with no romance between Lila and Five. I think Lila and Five should build up a friendship with each other, but nothing romantic since that's really weird (Five is in his sixties mentally, but a teenager physically), Five wouldn't care for romance, and Lila loves Diego.
With Allison I think she should have a redemption arc throughout season four.

Even if it was just addressed in a quick flashback sequence, it would have been interesting... actually, I would have loved flashbacks showing all the characters' lives during the 6 years jump (Luther searching for Sloane, Lila and Diego's mariage falling apart, how the hell Five ended up at the CIA if he's physically 19 yo...)

I personally would've had the show end with 5 realizing what actually broke the Timeline was him being stuck in the future for 45 year's. Seeing that future set off a chain reaction that set it in stone. Five would then traveled back in time to the day he first left as a kid and stop himself. Telling his Younger self everything and telling him not to trust Reginald and that Victor had power and How Ben Died. Altering the timeline this way would make the Siblings turn on Reginald as the true villain as Children. And instead of Killing him they'd Lock him in the same room he locked Viktor in. Time skip would've showed all of them living their lives free of their trauma and together as adults.

The whole “Cleanse” thing from this season could have actually worked if only it made sense. Before the finale I thought the cleanse would be like the kugelblitz from the last season but instead they have Ben and Jennifer turning into some kind of monster it just didn’t make sense. Like how was that supposed to destroy every different timeline? Was it going to eat the timelines and if so how was it suppose to travel to different timelines in order to destroy them? I also feel like they could have done something completely different with the train storyline. Like throughout all of the promotions for the season they were hyping up how the train would have played a huge part in the story that would help them fix the timeline, but the only major plot point they used the train for was that weird, stupid five and Lila cheating arc. They had all of the material to make it work but they didn’t do it properly and just messed up the series finale to a show people adored.

I also missed Fives quips and general attitude this season. If there was ever a series that should benefit from a redo it would be this.

I thought that 5 would die. He realized that he is the problem from the start. By time jumping he started everything. His whole arc was always saving the world. He always wanted to fix everything (and most of the time he tried it alone). In the end he wouldn’t try to save the world but erasing himself from every timeline (through a crazy time jump where we could see a big summary of all his moments with his family). That would have been a nice call back to his old self “to not save the world“. He reached the conclusion to fix everything but he didn’t have the power to do so. That’s also why no other version could find a solution because they always wanted to fix everything and didn’t think about “giving up“ by killing themselves/ erasing their existence. After this big reset we see the lifes of the umbrella academy without knowing each other (In my ending 5 took his “dad“ with him and erased him as well)

S1 Vanya wouldn't have destroyed the world since they mention 5 as one of their only friends within the family -- having 5 around would've changed so much, maybe Ben wouldn't have even died (the Jennifer incident as it is... is such a stupid idea and I feel like originally he might've been planned to die differently). Having him go back and stop himself from making that jump somehow would also have been a great way to bring back the kid actors for an episode or two

It would also be interesting from a different standpoint if 5 and Lila both side with Hargreeves to kill Sparrow Ben and the new realities' Ben just cause Five is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his family, and Lila is also desperate to protect her children. But in the end, they both realise it's not worth killing the Bens as they'll be exactly like Reginald where "the ends justify the means" sort-off idea and they'll help their family fight against Reginald.
Also maybe the family could figure out how to use the Marigold and the Durango to fuse both of the Bens together effectively mixing both personalities to bring about a new Ben with the same memories but a new personality and character to that of the OG Ben from S1 and 2.
IDK I'm not a writer but the wasted potential of the final season of one of my favorite shows on Netflix is probably the biggest letdown for me from Netflix.

    • @maren-emilie6055
      @maren-emilie6055 26 дней назад +23

I can actually see Five and Lila leaning that way, considering Five's always been a very "the end justifies the means" kind of person, and I don't think there's much he wouldn't sacrifice to save his family - even if it hurts him greatly. There's a reason he spent over 4 decades trying to get back. There's a reason he joined the commission. There's a reason he let the commisssion do what it did to him, even if it stripped parts of him away that he feels he might never get back. And it could be interesting to explore because it wouldn't be something he would take lightly either, but the rest of the siblings wouldn't be able to see it that way which would just empathise the divide between Five and his family after everything he's been through and the time they've spent apart.
And Lila's very similar to Five in a lot of aspects, especially with their shared background with the Comission. Plus the fact that Lila so desperately wants a family and she wouldn't want anything to happen to the one she finally has. I think she's a very "everything I've ever let go of has claw marks on it" kind of person.

Thematically, I don't think they could have ever had the kids kill Reginald. The themes of the show are about abuse, especially child abuse and the main thing that a lot of people don't like about this season is that it ends with the characters all dying, the message is "sometimes dying is the best way to deal with trauma" which is... well-- it's pretty bad. Killing Reggie would have the message that either "revenge is always the answer" or "the only way to escape childhood trauma is to kill its source". I do agree that Viktor should have had his moment to stand up to Reggie but it would have been a lot more satisfying and thematically relevant for the group to lock him up (in prison, time, or even the Subway) and move on. I don't know-- just a thought.

The constant cycle of self-pity and self-destruction that the characters go through in every season is exhausting and repetitive. It’s frustrating to see them save the world and end each season on a high note, only to fall apart again at the start of the next. This back-and-forth feels like a waste of valuable plot time, with the same issues being rehashed season after season.
The rushed ending left a bitter taste, making it clear that more time should have been spent developing the plot rather than revisiting tired character arcs. One of the most pointless storylines was Klaus being kidnapped and used as a sex toy-an unnecessary distraction that wasted precious screen time in an already limited episode count. This time could have been better spent enriching the overall plot.
The final episode felt too short, with an abrupt conclusion that made little sense. The villains didn’t have enough screen time to make any real impact, and as a result, they never felt truly menacing or significant to the story. Overall, this season was a major disappointment, with potential squandered by poor pacing and repetitive storytelling.

Before S3, I really thought of the attempts of Five getting back to the original timeline, the 2019 one, and get to make Viktor acknowledge his power to prevent the apocalypse. But since we didn't got this, Sparrow Academy only existed to nothing, not even Sloane survived the lazy writing. My question about the others who were born with marigold werent answered.
S3 ending made it feel like Reginald would be the villain, and belive or not, it was kind of obvious that the writer wanted to give Five a love story, BUT I NEVER THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE WITH HIS BROTHERS WIFE!!!! In my head, S4 would follow this new character who's held by Reginald and his wife, she (somehow) would have the powers coming from the marigold but also would runway from Reginald and find the Umbrella Academy. Turns out that this happened with Jennie, but her story was so off. And if the writer wanted SO MUCH to Five to have a love story, would be way better if the character were similar to him by age (maybe also trapped in a teenager body) but with her own story to get the timelines safe again. Idk so much potential lost.

    • @Yeibaldreamss
      @Yeibaldreamss 16 дней назад

I’ll explain: basically every person who had previously gotten powers (including the umbrellas) has them wiped away after the timeline reset. They were only ones who took marigold after and that’s why they were the only people who needed to die to fix the timelines. However, I don’t think that’s the end. The first time Ben tried to give Klaus the marigold, he dumped it over his shoulder and the marigold had landed on another man. But it still showed alt timelines being deleted so maybe that was an irrelevant detail. I was thinking viktor would’ve taken the marigold out of them and only sacrifice himself for his siblings, but that didn’t happen.

  • @EchoEpsilon
    @EchoEpsilon 24 дня назад +5

I love all those revisions except fir the ending. Everything ceasing to exist feels too depressing for the Umbrella Academy. I think it would be nice for everything to reset to a universe where the marigold was never released, because Hargreeves never survived or something.
All the siblings were still born to their respective families, but maybe at different times. We still have the park scene, but it has the main group there by happenstance for their own separate reasons. Some end up interacting, not knowing each other, but for some reason immediately liking each other. Luther is definitely there with Sloane. Ben and Klaus wound up being roommates. Diego and Lila meet for the first time and start flirting immediately. Victor is playing the violin to a crowd that Allison and her family are sitting in. Then it shows them all getting beat at chess by Five one after another.
Their story is over, but they get to live their lives free of Hargreeves and their destiny.

I'm guessing the 6 year time jump was because of the gaps between making the seasons and the fact that Aidan Gallagher had aged. The previous 3 seasons had all happened within the span of a few weeks/months, (for Five at any rate) but Five now looks 18/19/20 instead of 13/14. So, they had to take that into account. Also, because they went with that storyline of him and Lila, it was better in their eyes if his body was at least of legal age. 🙄
They messed the whole thing up so bad. There was no character development or growth. Everything was rushed. Like was said in the video, we weren't SHOWN anything -- we were TOLD.
The list is so long with my problems with this season, I wouldn't know where to begin and my post would be too long. I'll have to do it in separate posts (if I feel like going into it).
How it should've ended? I don't know. I really don't like the whole self-sacrifice plot. It's not the sibling's faults that they were born and messed up the "true" timeline. I think just Reggie should have sacrificed himself (and Abigail) and that somehow TUA could've survived to live somewhat normal lives.
    (C'mon, there can't be a universe without FIVE! That's a bleak universe indeed 😁 ).

Why the ending doesn’t make sense:
    1. If the only way to correct the timelines is for the siblings to fuse themselves with the giant monster thing, couldn’t they just go to the train station and grab a “defeated” version of themselves that would be willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good?that would be a good plot bc when they go into the train station time stops and they return back to the same day and the moment they left. I mean it’s not like these Hargreaves are all from the same timeline so why did they specifically have to die?
    2. Somehow Lila puts her family on the correct train to the og timeline? I mean if it had been any other train they would’ve been erased when the train-station and all the other timelines were erased. Yet they made it to the og timeline which mean Lila knew which train to put them on to save them.
    3. There are 43 marigold children per timeline so how only 7 of them needed to fuse together doesn’t make any sense.

kinda off topic but i cant stand victor. he is always criticizing everyone and actively tries to avoid the family. he always thinks hes in the right on everything and everyone else is wrong, and gets all pissy when people dont do what he wants. it also felt like a therapy session for elliot page more than a victor character arc.

since they all die together at the end i feel like it would’ve been bittersweet for luther to be like “wait wait wait”
and run upstairs before they power up. everyone would be annoyed but we cut to Luther searching his room(even if it’s a different timeline they’re still bleeding into each other) and he finds a record but they don’t show it, he goes back downstairs and then nods and everyone’s like “what was that for?” and he just smiles as music fades in and it’s “i think we’re alone now” they power up and wait for the end and one of them starts dancing and eventually they all do, and then finally BOOM they’re gone.

    Well planned 👏
I envisioned them all retiring in a time line of their choosing (as the Time Keeper use to say) but they all had to be separated as together they caused they apocalypse.
-Alison would be present day, pretty much how we seen the end of season 3.
-Klaus and Vik would be sixties but different timelines as they both had people they loved there.
-Luther and Sloane would be somewhere in the future travelling the world
-Five could be anywhere but an actual retirement, rocking chair on the porch kind of vibe
    - Diego and Lila would run the commission as a family business
-Ben I also envisioned would have to die

I thought the post credit scene was Ben going to see his living mother. I wanted them to show the comic book version of the characters who are more capable, but they decided on everyone vomiting to baby shark. Reginald and his wife have human forms but we know that they arent, which makes me believe that world they left wasn't their origin planet. Unless they are like Trill from Star Trek and their host bodies got damaged. The comic book pretty much stopped, so they really could have explored all of that. Even the diner seems to be an exposition dump . I think they were offered way less money to end it all.

Season 4 with a new ending:
    - Reginald is exploiting humanity to some extent, being a bad leader. Our heroes realize that it's not enough to just save the world; they also need to free it from Reginald's leadership.
    - They discover a way to enter different timelines (using power juice from Reginald's wife, similar to the show) to regain their powers by collecting more power juice from these timelines.
    - In the midseason finale, they come together to defeat Reginald. He reveals the true origin of the power juice, explaining that he stole it from an ancient guardian and released it into the multiverse to create his perfect timeline.
    - Now, they must collect the remaining power juice from various timelines (fighting bosses and completing random tasks) and absorb it to unlock new powers, enabling them to solve the multiverse problem.
-Finally, all parts of the power juice are gathered in the same timeline, allowing the group to use this power to create the Commission, which will timeloop everything that happened to bring the original timeline together and solving the multiverse problem.
-They live out their lives in the final timeline, and as they grow older and the rest of the family dies of old age, Five (being the youngest) absorbs all the juice. He ultimately decides to keep himself alive within the Commission to guard the final timeline. This is the guardian Reginald eventually finds and fights to steal the juice from, repeating the loop all over again to reach the final timeline.

Honestly, where to start? Ben and Jennifers undeveloped relationship and lack of chemistry, giving them all new powers but not bothering to explore/explain them (why was luther a monkey again?), mo explanation for sloan or ray, 5 and Diego not having a proper reconciliation after cheating with his wife or between allison and luther, the confusing hargreeves wife doppleganger subplot, luther turned into a big joke, the over the top cheesy end scene in the park where the turn into flowers. Are you kidding me? This makes the last season of GOT and Lost look like a masterpiece

Ben and Jennifer "absorbed" the whole planet, the other 35 gifted people with marigold born the same way were "absorbed" by Ben. If one of them left in another timeline just like Lila was about to do with her family and Claire… it wouldn’t have worked.

The 35 other gifted people didn’t exist in the world because the marigold was contained in this universe (hence why none of the original 7 had any powers at the beginning of the season) - upon Ben releasing it, the only ones who had marigold were the 7

I really didnt mind the ending of season 4. It felt appropriate, and an answer to all the hints about why there was an organization trying to let the end of the world happen, why old Five told current Five to not save the world. It felt like a necessary sacrifice that finally led to them being the heroes they were always trained to be.
What I minded was the five and a half episodes leading up to that. The regression of characters, the broken promise of having their full powers unrealized, the addition of uninteresting and rushed villains and protagonists, the plot holes, the unanswered questions, the cheesy unecessary scenes on a season that already felt so short on time. Almost every character was dumbed down and treated as a set piece to serve the plot, and thats what sucked the most to me.

Sloane not coming back was just the largest issue as her and Luther's relationship was my favorite part of Season 3. Considering she was in the room when the new timeline was made would have made sense to have her be in the new timeline.
I like your idea with there being too many Bens and I could see that being an example of Sloane too where she also had a variant in the new universe. And if they wanted to get rid of her character, have it that somehow the Sloane encounter one another and by doing so cancelled out each other's existance unintentionally. Having that cause the cracks in the timeline where artifacts are coming through.
The idea then being that if the same thing happened to the Bens, the timeline would be destoryed altogether. Maybe Sparrow Ben, since none of his siblings made it to the new timeline (other than Sloane), would become evil and he orchestrated the Sloanes, realizing he can do the same if he found Train Ben.

I like the idea of the ending. I would just change one thing. The ending would have revealed rifts in reality showing all the other timelines. The reason for their being two Ben’s is because of Reginald’s perfect world. Reginald doesn’t know it at the beginning but by the end he has to kill the main timeline umbrella academy in order for their to be only one timeline, the one he created. The team finds another way to reset all the timelines and finish the apocalypse for good, but Reginald thinks that the only way to end the calamity and preserve his perfect world is with their death. Other versions of team members begin to show up from other timelines, along with other Reginald’s. All the Reginald’s fight the army of umbrella academy’s

To me, almost everything that happened this season made sense...if they had like...two more seasons (or at least one full season) to explain everything better, and to answer some questions. 1.) Ray bring brought back last season just to be thrown away this season. 2.) we needed way more explanation about Jennifer and why she was connected to only Ben. 3.) the other Ben that showed up at the end of last season? 3.) Sloan!!! Why didn't she come through? Where was she? Wtf. 4.) just overall more focus on the family dynamics.
I'm not one of those fans that believe all of the characters have to be perfect, I actually like the idea that all of these characters are flawed and don't necessarily have good qualities/endings. No show does that. However....God it was so rushed.
I also didn't mind the love triangle. Lila was never a good person, she lied to Diego from the jump, and Five's character archetype fits into him getting possessive (though the teenager reaction to her being back with Diego was a bit OOC. He's in his 60s...not a jealous teen).
There is so much more I could say...but yeah, I didn't HATE it. But god...rushed it was

I actually enjoyed the power changes showing that the Marigold was not the original ones that they had in the first timeline. I also liked the subway station and Five figuring out the endless pursuit of fixing the timeline. But Lila does not need to join him. And Durango did not need to exist. The two Bens should be the issue like you said, and solving the time crisis would be to end Ben, which they would never do. I liked the forgotten memory concept of Ben original but it should've been for some other reason, perhaps Ben found out the truth about Hargreeves.

This is a good plot, but that Sloan should have existed in the timeline. As it was a different set of children who were picked for the Sparrows out of the 43 children with only Ben being the crossover due to Reginald not disliking him in the past timeline.

  • @petaladgrove9715
    @petaladgrove9715 24 дня назад +2

Okay a little theory, is that when this timeline was created, they had to use the last bits marigold (the last members of umbrella academy and sparrow, the other marigold users were dead in the last timeline so there marigold wasn’t transported to the new time line, ) to use as a fuel for the machine to create this timeline, so when the marigold was no longer in use Reggie took the marigold and put it in the jar so no one can accidentally use the same machine (that’s why it’s a liquid in s4 but when Reggie has it, it’s like a dust) and it explains why there powers are a little “off” (Alison doesn’t need to say “I heard a rumour”, fives colour went from blue to purple etc)
Reggie made 8 or 43 (idk) random mothers (that were already pregnant that gave birth all on the same day, maybe?) and he adopted 7 of the kids, this explains how all of “his children” have the same last name still, and how Lila has her family, and they just sorta “possessed” the original ones, I guess.
When they walk away from each other they possess the body’s in this timeline this explains the end credits scene of Ben, he has just possessed the body’s in the new timeline,
Sloane is just with her family somewhere out of America that’s why Luther couldn’t find her, or she gave up her life to bring back Luther for this timeline or she could just be dead ?
This is the best way I’m thinking that makes sense of all the plot holes they have created in the this season but even then there’s still questions
