I'm not gonna lie, I looked away from the screen anytime it happened (which, hello, it was bad enough that it happened once, why did it have to happen multiple times?!?)
Lmao that was only thing actually worth mentioning the entire show. You are wrong. This season had many flows. Five and Lila relationship wasn't one of them.
@@momchilhlebarov289 You are like only person in the entire universe who thinks that. Lila and Five’s affair storyline was a total cringe fest in every single way possible.
I think it’s funny how Gerard and Gabriel are a making a fourth a comic after years of having finished their comic series just because they probably despised S4 😂
The writers need to be ashamed. Some of the resolutions were so obvious too. Like Ben is out of control and Klaus started the season sober, it would have been so cool to have the full circle moment where Klaus took charge and fought to get through to Ben and try to save him while finally awakening the full potential of his powers without fearing them anymore but no, they threw it away, he gives the middle finger to Claire, gets sex trafficked and then buried alive, reliving all his trauma from season 1 for no reason, just to die. Luther too, it makes no sense he got to ape body since that was not from his powers, his power was super strength, and then he has no emotions to being disfigured again, nothing about Sloane, just an idiot along with Diego. Viktor was the only one I kind of liked but it felt like a rehash of his story every season, he did not need this "I'm worthy dad!" storyline again, all the others did and didn't get it. 5 and Lila... Yuck, character assassination, they both got screwed and Diego by association, they really made them die hating each other for no reason. Allison had nothing to do. Jennifer did not need to exist, it could have just been revealed Ben's tentacles are from the monster and he could have actually interacted with the rest of the family for once in the series, but no. And wasting the budget on that horrible CGI disaster. The ending makes no sense. I could go on all day, it's tied with Game of Thrones for the worst final season I've ever seen.
My sister who never watched this show saw me watching the final episode of the final season. She thought it looked cool with the monster at the end so asked me what show it is because she wanted to watch it. I told her "Nahh, just don't. This final season is trash, it's like GoT all over again."
@@akmal94ibrahim Lol you saved her the pain... I still want to believe I got into a car crash or something and I hallucinated that season because I'm in a coma lol. I can't believe people got paid to write that and it was greenlit.
i thought it would be cool to see ben get addicted to the marigold because of his moment spiking the sake and kind of revealing his character in this timeline (or lack of lol). the loss of his ENTIRE sparrow family would be a good motivation for his overconsumption and drive to be seen as more powerful than the rest of the umbrella group. could’ve been a *really* cool end of the world scenario and we wouldn’t have needed any of the dumb jennifer love story bs.
I totally agree with so much you are saying! And THANK YOU for mentioning Luther and his ape body!! That's what I was saying! That had NOTHING to do with his super power and the marigold! So why would he get that body back!? That was just horrible!! And Klaus...he was so angry! And WHY would he immediately go back to doing drugs when he get his powers back. In season 3 he was fine! He TOTALLY had it going on and he wasn't wasted all the time. So the fact that they wrote him like that does not make any sense! They RUINED him! He finally figured out his shit in season 3 only to have them back peddle!? Makes ZERO sense! And then Lila and Five. Really? I mean I get how that could happen. But come on. It didn't NEED to happen for us fans! I REALLY liked Lila and Diego and how they backed each other. So unnecessary. Which btw I don't know why they didn't have Diego become a cop again. I mean after all, in the first season, that is what he did for a living. He was a cop. So WHY wouldn't he just become a cop again?? Lame. And Ben. Yes, what a waste! I really wanted them to reach Ben. And Klaus SHOULD HAVE BEEN written in to be closer to him since they were together for all those years. There should have been more thought to these two characters arc. Very disappointing. I really did love this series overall. But they did a GREAT job of ruining the last and final season. So sad.
i remember thinking at the beginning when Five and Lila were lost that "wow it's great to see these characters come together and support each other, i love the enemies to really close friends" and being touched at the close platonic bond. and then they made it not platonic anymore and i was like... why.... please no
As soon as I saw the episode title I was praying that they would keep it platonic and not turn it into a romance just because they were alone together for so long
Reading this made me realize precisely why the ending wasn't emotional for me LMAO [Spoilers ahead] They were all already dead, narratively speaking, so when they do die it's like eh whatever VS the loss of seeing them achieve their goals / a happier life
@@JeannesMovieChats i actually like the fact that its them that cause the end of the world and it stops when they stop existing because we can see for the past 3 seasons it was always them causing something wrong that eventually ends the world 1st season vanya 2nd season vanya 3rd season it was them talking to reginald from the past that caused the whole kukelblitz now season 4 its them again so i acc like the fact that it was them the whole time and they where anamolies and they had to dissapear for it to stop but they couldve written it better (also never existing and dying is different lol like they literally will never exist so no heaven or hell or ressurection for them like klaus does they just cease to exist like before they where born)
The biggest ball drop was when Claire manned up to and really put her foot down to stop Klaus from walking out and relapsing. He pauses. I was thinking "oh this is it, this is when his arc completes and we see uncle Klaus healed by the love of his niece and the cycle of his addiction FINALLY broken by family ties; their true superpower. This is why they spent time showing Klaus babying Claire and in return her growing concern for him..." Then he says no and goes off on his meaningless filler side story. "Oh, so you're going that route Netflix". And the rest followed suit.
and then he gets sex trafficked and it's played for laughs, imagine if Klaus was a female character, that wouldn't have flown. Same with previous season with Ben taking over Klaus's body to have sex with a woman. It's gross and that they basically did a similar thing again is just... I have no words
@wasnlos2676 you're point is exactly what I was thinking.expect didn't ben possess klaus body to talk to that girl because he had a crush on her.The only problem was her thinking it was klaus and making moves which is fine if it was klausbut it wasn't and ben didn't stop her. That is until they were interrupted.
When Klaus yelled at her and then hung his head in shame, I started crying because I thought he was going to stop and listen to Claire. This really intense and heartbreaking scene is meant to show Klaus’ true growth ….right? NOPE. It’s for nothing. There’s no pay off for at all. Now my tears are because they butchered Klaus in the final season.
Locked in a cemetery and doesn’t use his powers to resurrect spirits to help get him out and come to terms with his powers. Stuck inside and sister comes to dig him out
I was kinda hoping that Vicktor would take all the Marigold from the siblings, and be the only one to sacrifice themselves to the apocalypse. Especially since the apocalypse seamed to revolve around Vicktor in almost every season. It would have come full circle for why they saved Vicktor at the end of season one since it was his destiny to cause or prevent the apocalypse. Then we could have seen the rest of the UA living happily in the restored timeline with no marigold and no apocalypse.
I feel like that was going to be the original plan but then Elliot Page transitioned and they panicked. Instead of hoping that we would understand the difference between transphobia and the obvious narrative conclusion they gave us this.
@adeletaylor6143 that's a great point. I also think we could have actually had an interesting female character if Vanya had continued to exist. Not to fault Elliot Page, he deserves to be free and live his life as he chooses. It's just narratively unfortunate.
@@adeletaylor6143 I also wanted to say that at the beginning it wasn’t like that at all, like Elliot wanted to stay as Vanya till the end of the show or just wasn’t bothered but the producer decide otherwise I’m not sure why but maybe he wanted to be more inclusive ? clearly didn’t understand what he was doing here 💀
@@multiplemysteries5242 "It was the writers that decided to have the character transition." I saw someone on Reddit say they felt the writers had started writing the Vanya/Victor character to be Elliot instead of Elliot playing the character of Vanya/Victor and that's why the Victor character fell so flat after season 2. Like whoever the character of Vanya was or was supposed to be disappeared because Vanya became more Elliot than Victor, if that makes sense.
It made no sense for Luther get his ape / alien body back because it was sir Reg who surgically grafted his head on an alien body when Luther otherwise would have died on one of his missions… it was even shown in a flash back in a previous season. His powers didn’t come from the body… he already had super strength as a child and he wasn’t physically abnormal at all.
No seriously like they just forgot that luther was literally injected with his half chimp body, if the marigold reverted them back to their old selves then five should've lost his arm again same as diego and his fingers.
In the comics, Luther had his head grafted onto an martian ape body. In the show, Reggie just injects him with a syringe of unknown chemical. One thought is that Reggie injected him with more marigold and that supercharged his powers, having him heal quicker; but also mutating his body
Since I haven’t seen a comment saying it yet: Gene and Jean felt like a cheap rehash of Hazel and Cha Cha, but without the compelling storyline or character… Like, even the Swedes got more depth, and they barely even talked about
The thing I hate the most about the Five x Lila stuff is it feels like Millie Bobby Brown all over again. It feels like the writers and/or showrunner were just counting down the days until Aidan came of age to sexualize him just like all those weirdos did to Millie. I can't imagine having to kiss a kid you've known since he was around 14-15 years old could have been comfortable for Ritu either.
@@kimberlyjeanne9456 There was a bunch of disgusting weirdos that literally had a countdown clock that tracked until Millie Bobbie Brown turned 18 and legal so they could legally drool. But the existence of the clock meant they were already p*rving on a minor.
The pairing of Five and Lila doesn't work because one, the age difference of the actors makes it awkward. (If Aidan was 25 and Ritu was 40, it wouldn't be AS bad, but she was on the show when he was still basically a kid so that makes it creepy). Two, it was a sh*tty thing to do to Diego. Three, it was too rushed. We see a little montage of them trying to survive and then having little domestic scenes, which COULD have been cute if we were given more. For them it's 7 years, for the audience watching the show it was a brief little blip of nothing. We're not shown any of the timelines they go to and see any of their adventures. An extra episode might've helped. From the CHARACTER'S perspective I can see why it might have happened. For a viewing audience, we're not given enough. If Lila and Diego hadn't been married and were on again/off again and had split amicably and from a mutual decision (it just didn't work out) and they hadn't had kids, that would've been a much better scenario. It just ruins Five's character completely to do it this way. Lila can be impulsive and a flake, but Season 1-3 Five wouldn't do this. Also, from their perspective, if the situation between Lila and Diego had been different: Remember, Five has been in a constant battle his entire life. First, a not-so-great father and his missions with TUA, just training and rescuing people. Then, he gets stuck as a 13-year-old in an apocalyptic future, alone on the ENTIRE PLANET for 45 YEARS. Then his time with the Commission. Then solving a few more apocalypses. He's had NO ONE his entire (63, 64?) year life except the Dolores in his head (and possibly a brief fling with The Handler). Lila has had similar experiences with The Handler and the Commission and gets him. Even when they were fighting and hating on each other there was a bit of flirtation between them, especially on Lila's part (except when she was angry about his killing her parents). Then they get stuck in time together for 7 years, not knowing if they'll ever get back, so I can see Five thinking, oh, no, not again. I can't do this again. But this time he wasn't alone. So I can see something developing. It's just the way it was done was sh*tty (and horrible to Diego). So, it didn't work in the context of the show we were given. Sorry, this is WAY long.
Exactly my critique Lila def was flirty back in season 2 and they could’ve manipulated things. I honestly expected that Lila and Diego has split sometime in the time skip. Then being married WITH KIDS threw me for an absolute loop. That writing strike really had its effect 😂
Season 4's plot was incomprehensibly bad. Sal sent the team to go get Jennifer. Sal who was Abigail. Abigail who had the marigold. Who's whole plan was to get the marigold in contact with the durango. She knew where the durango was. She could have driven it to Jen, dumped it on her, and then walked away. The whole season kickoff was pointless. The ending was pointless. The character assassinations were pointless. And everything they did with Five and Lila was criminal. The ONLY character who got anything worthwhile was Viktor. Him getting to standup to Daddy Hargreeves felt so cathartic. And the way he tried to save everyone felt very on brand. Desperately trying to save the world he'd destroyed twice.
It has nothing to do with budget or amount of episodes, the ideas/plot they came up with were absolute garbage. I'm convinced they gave the job to some interns in return for coke and this is what they came up with.
having them stop existing in the end is annoying BUT i would have been fine with it if the characters got like.. actual reconciliation between each other (especially 5 & diego like they never addressed that and lila didnt even answer diego's question of if she loved him)
real, imagine dying with resentment and hatred against your family, is just so brutal for five and diego. and even more considering five’s character is about trying to save his family and the world in S1-S3
It's heartbreaking how bad netflix bungled this show. It was easily one of my favorite shows of all time. I don't blame a single cast member at all for that though. They're always incredible no matter what. Upon watching season 4 I could immediately feel something was off. The 6 year time jump at the very start was a terrible decision. There should've been 2 episodes prior to the actual 1st episode revolving around the family immediately after the S3 ending. Like showing them all walking off and then continue to follow them. The world in season 4 feels NOTHING like the world at the end of S3. Despite only seeing it for 1 scene. Season 4 felt like after the family left the elevator in S3, they somehow slipped into a totally different parallel world shortly after. There was such a massive disconnect from previous seasons. Sure they mention things from before but that's pretty much all it was, "mentioning".
Gurl, this eye shadow gave me more excitement and entertainment than the entirety of TUA season 4. Thank you for being as mad as I am over how they drove this once great show into the ground. I've never seen such a blatant "Let's just throw whatever together to cash in on the last season. We don't need to keep people interested since the show is ending anyway." I'm livid. (But seriously the outfit and eye shadow are phenomenal.)
Hunh. I wonder if we could get a fan edit where we get the beautiful ending of the park and people playing, and the family coming up the elevator to it
Nope! No questions, no plot holes. Entire thing reset, so none of it matters 😂 I’m 💯 sure that’s what the writers told the actors who didn’t understand the script. Don’t think too hard on it, we’re going to wipe everything anyway, so just read the lines and make the faces and let’s close this thing out!
tbh i would of much preferred if the jennifer incident was just explained rather than it be the main storyline for this season i would much rather see something with reginald. i was going into season 4 expecting to see reginalds alien body
the multiverse direction this took is so weird, considering the commission’s job since season one has been to protect the PROPER timeline, ONE timeline. it raised the stakes because it overlaps with our own history; and relatability was just one strength of it. a sole timeline made every action a character took feel consequential for the inevitable futures we were quickly introduced to. it forced us to pay attention and worry for them. the existence of the commission implies that everything takes place in ONE universe, which is why big modifications create tragedy that needs to be amended immediately - not just… another universe? where did that come from? if the butterfly effect is eliminated and time travel just creates other versions of history… why did the commission exist in the first place? what the hell is their job? lol
I thought(way back when) that 5 created the Commission to safeguard the family's journey thru the various apocalypses, with them ending up in control of the full range of their powers, with each of them having gained knowledge and wisdom. That we would end with them being a type of new pantheon of gods.
@@Briaaanz i think according to canon ur right, but i don’t know how to feel abt that storyline either. the commission was such a strong enemy organization in the first 2 seasons … and then five revealing he founded it was retrospectively kinda meh. it was cool in the moment, but the implications are so confusing lol. i think it was better as an opposing force protecting a single timeline. the extra confusion is not needed at all and weakens the gravity of everything imo do you know how this plays out in the comics?? i’m interested in the difference between the two🤔
@@aspen9059 I'm pretty sure the comics haven't gone that far yet. The show ran out of original material while back(plus, TV storyline was already a lot different than the original)
5 obliterated the Commision so the multiverse thing was actually plausible. It SHOULD have been a matter of, either let’s go back and save og Ben or let’s stop Reginald from ever adopting us. But instead 5 was fucking around in a subway😂
I just don't understand what they were thinking with this season. It was horrible! And to make matters worse S3 also irritated me so I'm just down bad 😩
They forgot Klaus had learned to stay sober with his powers and was no longer afraid of the dead among other things. That was literally in season 3 with Regie, how could they have forgotten that and taken him back to s1 junkie Klaus? 🤦🏿♀️
Man, I was so PEEVED with what they did to everyones characters, but what really pissed me off is that we got no backstory for what happened to the siblings once they separated and to what really started Reginald story or his girl who i guess luther was watching over on the moon cause it would've explained Jennifer's existence in this jumbled mess. So disappointed 😢😢😢
It’s definitely not the SOLE reason for s4 being awful, but the huge departure from the comics season by season is CRAZY. Like the author of the Og comics is still credited as an executive producer, but you can definitely feel his step back. He used to make some music for it, have small cameos, and now it’s legit nothing lmao. Idk, I’m probably just salty bc I’m a huge fan of the comics, but I digress.
one random gripe i had with this season was the vfx!! it just felt weirdly stand-out bad and worse than other seasons (if i'm remembering correctly??) but so many times it had me just burst out laughing at the screen and by the last episode i was just sighing loudly.
They actually did have a dance sequence and it was easily one of the best moments in this whole season, gene and jean were dancing while ben went on a rampage. If they had kept the momentum going from that point on i would've genuinely liked this season
Diego THOUGHT his wife was cheating on him and she revealed it was only Five, then she cheats with Five. ( slow clap) Brilliant writing. Hey remember when Ben and Klaus had a special relationship? The writers don't. I know it was Ghost Ben, but there was still something there. I mean she scammed people with Crypto. Scamming people is what Klaus does. When they tossed their cookies while baby shark was blasting, I knew the show was in trouble. I'm not trying to ruin things for the Jennifer actress, but I agree that you could have just infected Vicktor with the Durango and still had almost the same season.
I actually don't mind the self sacrifice ending, it did make sense for the story but nevertheless the characters were still unfinished One of the biggest issues is definitely Netflix itself, they forced them to make a smaller season that they had to cram an ending into within 6 episodes instead of the usual 10 or else they would've just straight up never made season 4 Because if there's one thing Netflix love, it's cancelling great shows to make shitter shows Also a shame we never got Reggie's backstory besides a brief "our home world died"
It did NOT actually make any kind of sense. The show had previously presented multiple means of removing marigold particles from people - Viktor or the machine that Reginald Hargreeves used to resurrect his wife. They opted instead to completely ignore these methods of saving the multiverse in favor of... horrifically and irrevocably murdering every member of the Umbrella family in addition to creating origin paradoxes for their offspring. Astoundingly terrible writing.
Self sacrifice as a concept can work, but if the self sacrifice makes it so that everything that happened never happened, it does feel like a punch in the face imo. Difference between dying and being removed from existence is huge
@@shadowdweller6738 I feel like you misinterpreted what I meant, I wasn't saying the ending was good but if they'd worked on a better means for a self sacrifice ending I wouldnt have minded it Obviously it had a ton of plot holes so it fucked it up, but what I meant was that if it was done right along with actually finishing the characters story arcs it could've been a satisfying but sad end and not the one we got
@@shadowdweller6738 The multiverse wasn't supposed to be saved. There was only supposed to be one TRUE timeline. The very birth of these babies was the cause of all the upheaval. No matter if they had marigold in them or not, their very EXISTENCE was because of the marigold. And even in this reset that Reg had made, different timelines were starting to bleed into each other whether TUA had powers or marigold or not. (That's why people were finding artifacts that didn't belong in "their" universe). The Cleanse was supposed to happen. Doesn't mean it's not a sh*tty story, though, heh heh. They could've done something much better than what we got. Not to mention the huge plot holes of, like you said, if they "never existed" why would Claire, Grace and the twins still be alive? What about the other kids with powers in different timelines? Shouldn't they ALL have been there to get absorbed by the cleanse? Just an utter crap of a season.
I rewatched the first season to cleanse my mind of the atrocity that is the final one, but I did not anticipate how actually painful the contrast would be. Season 1 was an absolute comfort show for me, with eccentric and dramatic but oh so sincere and heartfelt characters and relationships (like Diego's stutter, devotion to Grace and general protectiveness despite his gruff attitude). By the end everything feels so apathic and superficial and rushed - just slapstick humor and action pasted onto what could have really been a refreshing take on the superhero genre. I get that they follow the comics somewhat, but the series gave me a quantity over quality vibe, trying to include as many plotpoints as possible, the consequence being that they skimmed through a lot of potential for character growth instead of delving into it. Overall, I think the show fell into a trend i LOATHE about a lot of media franchises today due to the Marvel effect (banter, one liners, action scenes). Not everything had to be played for a cheap laugh - LET. CHARACTERS. BE. SINCERE. By the end the show had done so much to convince me that the siblings don't really care about each other that there was very little for me left to be invested in. I wish they could have focused more on each sibling and the actual scope, consequences and experiences of the combination of their trauma and powers in a way that would have at least partly resolved their struggles. Also learning to trust and support each other instead of continously brushing each other off at each chance of a heartfelt conversation?? The way the real world is right now, we need more hopeful messages in media, and as tragically poetic their sacrifice could be read as, it felt completely off to me.
I have almost nothing but problems with this season but something I haven’t heard pointed out is why does Luther revert back to his ape body? His ape body has nothing to do with his power or the marigold.
I always thought there were more kids in the universe with powers did the rest just not make it to birth... also where the heck was Luther's wife Sloan

Couldn’t agree with you more. I’m writing this season off as it doesn’t exist. It was that upsetting. Claus and 5 were my favorite characters. When I saw Claus at the end of season 1, I thought that he was going to end up being the team’s secret weapon by the end of the series…..and then we get…..this?!?!?!…..And the 5 and Lila relationship arc was so awkward and plain weird….And there are so….many…..plot holes!!!! There are so many that we literally got NO ANSWERS to DOZENS of questions!!!! What happened in that writers room?!?!?! Seems like it was written in an afternoon with zero editing and no care for their fans or the show! I was a DIE HARD fan!!!! Used to tell all my family and friends about this show….now i feel I can’t recommend it at all because anyone who watches it now will leave with a bitter taste in their mouths…..so fricken sad….
I was slackjawed the entire season. Season 3 already disappointed me, but season 4 really exceeded my expectations of bad. I was especially heartbroken with how they handled Klaus. It seemed like the entire focus was on Diego, Lila, and Five but for ALL the wrong reasons
I read it was Netflix that decided to suddenly decide only 6 eps instead of 10. But if you watch some of the deleted scenes it's weird what they cut out of it when they left in a whole episode of vomiting and a baby shark road trip. Travesty.
So many flaws, but I think they only existed in season 1 timeline so they died at the end with that apocalypse event plus they are not special or relevant bcs they don’t have marigold or durango
I had a thought so if they had to die anyway it could be another ending. In season 3 we find out that five was the founder of the commission. And now I think that they could have just continued on that fact and force five to do just that in season 4 instead of whatever that ending was and the thing about the train station and so on. They could have let them die by linking the end of season 4 with the beginning of season 1. In season 1 five travelled to 2019 after the apocalypse where he found all of his siblings dead. The commission (which he himself founded) was originally against the idea of stopping that apocalypse they had their reason and i think the writers could have take the idea from season 4 (everyone has to die) and make that the end which would also be the beginning? Apart from that the old five from season 3 was also against it when our five wanted to find a solution for the end if the World and make his family survive.
All this season needed were the usual 10 episodes. I bet they could’ve made an awesome season If Netflix would’ve let them . There were fragments where I was like "okay I see what they wanted to do“ but there simply wasn’t enough time to actually do something with it or explore these storylines. None of the characters actually had something relevant to do this season which is why the ending didn’t work as well as it could’ve. I actually liked the overall ending, it did make sense and I expected the show to end with all the characters sacrificing themselves around season 2. It was teased ever since season 1 with the Handler saying the apocalypse has to happen because it is meant to happen, then further in season 2 where Five noticed that wherever or whenever they go the apocalypse always seems to follow them and then in season 3 where Founder- Five explicitly told our Five to not save the world. You need to understand it like this: Their birth essentially is a paradox in itself and was never supposed to happen so with their births and mere existence the world was destined to end at some point sooner or later, someway or another. Unless they took themselves out of the equation.
I love you mentioned MiSFiTs, he was the best character and it's weird how they pretty much had a similar episode with a similar power and being buried and saved by others. They couldve gone a different way, used his power of being able to control ghosts to help (like when he controlled the ghost army) get him out or thunderbolt to dig him out with other animal ghosts.
My main complaint is that nothing feels resolved. Obviously 5 and Lila was gross, whether you look at 5 as a 15 year old or a 60 year old, and it made her relationship with Diego in season 2 and 3 pointless. They spent too much time with new characters, and not enough with the siblings. Obvi the Offermans are comedy icons, but they should’ve been building this whole “Cleanse” thing up since the beginning. We didn’t get to see “Mom”-Grace or Pogo. We didn’t get to see Reggie get what he deserves. We barely got the sibling dynamic that made this show so special. We didn’t get so much.
Personal I’m bamboozled, broken, battered, and hurt by this ending the potential was limitless but they chose let’s just end the show type of ended. They destroyed my guys Klaus and Fives. I’m just speechless that they even put out this trash and called it a season with 6 episodes not even enough respect for the fans for a full season. Love they beginning hate the end 😂🫠
7:00 The fact that Klaus actually DID challenge the fact that he sees himself as doomed to spiral once he has his powers, he actually did actively attempt to crawl back from this specific relapse and behavioral recession in a beautiful scene where he reclaims his agency and pours his heart out showing a lot of self awareness and unwillingness to let himself revert to his self destructive ways at an AA meeting. The fact that this actually DID happen...IN A DELETED SCENE. THEY DELETED IT. they wasted SO MUCH TIME on useless shit and THEY DELETED THAT!? they hate him frfr. Like it should have even been more, i dont think one good deleted scene would have saved the season or arc but it was such a good scene and rob acted his heart out in it. I would have much preferred seeing Klaus yeah maybe relapse violently and suddenly but then immediately try to crawl back out of that because of his knowledge and experiences and growth. It would show how recovery isnt linear while also not shitting all over his development. do yourselves all a favor and go watch the deleted scenes, idk wtf they were smoking when they decided smth like that was cuttable but they made LOTS of weird choices this season so im not that surprised...
Totally agree with you! On just about every point. Like Game of Thrones, I just have to throw out the last season of the series. And we as viewers deserve better. We should get two hour movie redos on “what should’ve happened” the ending makes no sense because it didn’t stop destruction by eliminating its origin. Kraus was horrible depicted. How did a human keep, him caprice unless he let the human do it. Luther and Rumir coukd e resolved their twisted relationship. Diego’s arc would’ve been better served if he and his wife were stranded and fought to get back regaining their passion and spark for one another. Five traversing time had no payoff. And making Reginald an alternate version robbed all consequential weight. And lack of a true villlain was really sad.
I actually enjoyed this short season. The only thing I really struggled with is that Allison never ever tried to use her "Rumour" power after getting the Marigold infusion. I mean, how is it possible that she wouldn't even try it? At the very least, I wanted her to say in the final scene, "I heard a Rumour that this didn't hurt so much."
Im honestly just soo disappointed. This show used to be one of my top 10 just beacuse how how much charm it had and how fun and unique it was. I think its obv that Netflix just didnt care enough to invest in the show and just wanted it to end.
They could have done something where Sir Reginald could share his consciousness across timelines like from EEAAO. That would have been cool. And then Viktor could be mad at his actual father
The show ruined all the characters. Aidan Gallagher as Five Hargreeves is one of my favorite characters from any series ever. (My number one is Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman). And they just chucked all that great stuff from him from the first 3 seasons out the window. Robert Sheehan as Klaus was my second fave from this show, and this season had him doing practically nothing. Well, none of them really did anything, actually. They ran out of things for Diego to do, and Luther they seem to never have cared about at all as far as having any significance. They trashed Allison. And poor Ben gets relegated to a completely different version who is unlikable. Vanya/Victor was a mess as they tried to figure out how to accommodate Elliot Page since his character started out completely different. They didn't really know what direction to go with him and he then became irrelevant. And the story just got stupid. I liked season 1 as an introduction. It had great moments, though it dragged a bit in spots. Season 2 was my favorite and actually had stories for all the characters. Well, except poor Tom Hopper as Luther, of course. (Why couldn't they think of more stuff for this poor guy to do?) {Edit: They DID have a bit for him in season 3 with Sloan, but it wasn't much}. Season 3 was meh, but I liked some elements. And this 4th season just utterly sucked on ice.
The Sloan stuff could have been so much better if it continued into season 4, if we got a depressed Luther who is angry at Allison for all the stuff she did in season 3 and who still misses Sloan but instead we got Luther as a fun stripper and thats all he has
Another thing, why is everyone calling the power juice "marigold"? Harlan came up with that name and no one else heard him say it but Viktor! If they had a scene where Harlan had a vision of Abigail saying it or something like that it would make sense but as far as we know, Harlan just made it up!
They died, but Reggie was still alive in the only timeline remaining and he still would release the marigold and get those women pregnant. Also, what happened to the other 40 kids? To my memory, only Lila showed up.
I watched when 5 and lila were in the subway being stuck. I watched and said to myself no way is this leading to a romantic scene and just shocked that they did this to deigo 😔😔😔
The whole stuck in multiverses was exactly what happened in the new show dark matter. He and a women form a relationship cheating on his wife, they were stuck trying to find way home and decide to maybe find a new world to make a life. So so similiar.
To say I couldn't watch any second of 5 and Lila's romance scenes is an understatement... I couldn't for the life of me! I skipped and skipped to the next scene while screaming bloody murder 😅
Could not agree more with the multiverse stuff. After Spiderverse, I never want to hear the word again. The device always causes more narrative problems than it fixes.
I hated this season soooo much .. I hated that they all had to die it was the worst. What was the point in this hole show ... NOTHING I loved this show, and now I'm so depressed... yes, I was way happier with season 3 ending. I want someone to rewrite their endings. Maybe someone can write a fan function or something...
whoever made the season like that needs to be called out publicly and forced to make a statement or apology and get all the backlash and ridicule they deserve imagine how gerard way probably feels about this knowing that his creation was treated unceremoniously like this and can and will never be redeemed. poor guy...
@@mythra7174 You're right, The dance sequences from season 1-3 are kind of an introduction to the characters. "I think we're alone now" introduced us to the siblings and each dance they did represents their individual personalities. In season 2 we get the Salon dance scene which shows that Alison, Klaus and Vanya are and can actually get along. In season 3 the fan favourite "footloose dance off!" introduced us to the sparrow academy as the counter part of the umbrella academy siblings. While in season 4, the villains are just dancing out of nowhere.
I think you missed the story about how the showrunner had serious and ongoing issues with the writers room. There's a whole undercurrent about s4 we haven't heard about on the production side
I agree, this season was boring. And didnt make sense. Like why was Reginald keeping Jennifer alive in that town? If she was so dangerous why didnt he have her killed instead of wasting time having that town set up and people guarding her? Made no sense. And somehow the children survived the cleanse which I thought was to erase the umbrella siblings from ever existing - so how would their children have been born if their parents never existed? The children should have disappeared in the new timeline/world where the umbrella siblings never existed. ??? A shame the series had to end so poorly.
I keep writing these long posts about this season, and I'm writing these before I even watch the video, heh. They made Luther and Diego a couple of buffoons. They ruined Five. The rest had absolutely nothing to do. Who cares about this version of Ben? And Jennifer who he falls in love with in two seconds. (Was it because of the Durango, or whatever it was called, and the marigold coming into contact with each other? Was that the only reason? blech). Abigail thanks Luther for watching over her on the moon, but it was the original Reg who sent Luther there for that and this isn't even THAT Reggie. So why is THIS Abigail with HIM? I don't know. And if they're both aliens, why are they still wearing human suits, even in private? Just the show's budget? Jean and Gene were horrible as the antagonists. They barely mattered. Didn't touch on Sloan (not that I care, I hated all those Sparrows). They didn't show us enough of what Lila and Five had to go through, and didn't say how that subway station came to be. I'm assuming some version of Five set it up, just as one had set up the Commission. (Too bad we don't know how). I guess Five is like some kind of in-between-timelines god in some iterations of himself. The only thing I liked about this season is the concept of that diner where a whole bunch of Fives reside. I would watch a spinoff show of all those Fives having various adventures in different timelines. But, now it doesn't matter because -- that ending. Well, maybe there's still something of them somewhere. We saw those marigolds growing at the end. Who knows what that means? Probably not even the writers. They just probably said, eh, just stick that in there, the viewers will do the work for us and fill in the blanks. Crappy season. Ugh. Edit: I feel so bad for the actors having to end it all on that sour note.
Agreed, Umbrella Academy ends at season 3. Would be cool if they made a season 4 but it was tragically ended at season 3 and we'll never get a proper ending
I feel that even if they ruined the last season and the characters, it’s still worthy to see the first three seasons and then read a fix-it fanfic lmao
No. There are only three primary comics not including the spin offs. All seasons were “inspired” by the comics and don’t copy them directly but this one went its own route which may have been part of why it was so horrible
I've said before the show as far as the first 3 season's "was the best thing, I have seen Netflix ever do". And I have seen a lot of great stuff that is Netflix originals. In rewatching it a second time, I like the last season more than the first time, but it is more out of just loving the old characters and occasional quirkiness of the universe. And even then, the letter grade rating would be something like a B, than an A+ . There are a number of shows that canonically would be vastly better off in clipping their last season and making the finale of the second to the last season the finale and this is definitely one of them. When I first watched this season, I was really struck how it felt like a spin off series rather than a continuing season.
i feel like we got another timeline's season 4 where the umbrella academy is a shoddy, illogically written mess. cause the one for our timeline was so neatly and smartly written and a creative, entertaining masterpiece that this has to be another timeline's version
They butchered tf out of this show. What happened to sloan? All that work and Ray and Alison are divorced?! The time jump with no real info on what happened to everyone during that time, just quick little snippets.
The amount of awkwardness and pain that was visible on my face when 5 and lila first kissed could’ve been a victorian horror painting
Ikr!!!
@@tmswood78 am i? Maybe you haven't seen anything that is furher from your nose. 😂
main focus for this season was straight up character assasination 😭
Diego and Luther the only ones that escaped unharmed since all the previous seasons they were unrelenting AHoles😂
assassination? this was a massacre!
Main focus was everyone just trying to fulfill their contracts 🫤
You hit every point, what an atrocious season! 😭😭😤
So sad.
i remember thinking at the beginning when Five and Lila were lost that "wow it's great to see these characters come together and support each other, i love the enemies to really close friends" and being touched at the close platonic bond. and then they made it not platonic anymore and i was like... why.... please no
I already felt it coming and I was like "just no... Please don't"
As soon as I saw the episode title I was praying that they would keep it platonic and not turn it into a romance just because they were alone together for so long
I always thought I wanted to see the characters come together, but when it started happening I realized I enjoyed it better when they bantered.
I haven’t cringed at a tv pairing this hard since Spencer and Caleb in PLL
Sis im mourning. The writer killed the character while they're still alive. Its heartbreaking
Reading this made me realize precisely why the ending wasn't emotional for me LMAO
[Spoilers ahead]
They were all already dead, narratively speaking, so when they do die it's like eh whatever VS the loss of seeing them achieve their goals / a happier life
This is the only show that has broken my heart. I am quite honestly gobsmacked and very sad that they ruined it for us
They destroyed our beloved, dysfunctional family 😓 JAIL!
This is why they spent time showing Klaus babying Claire and in return her growing concern for him..."
Then he says no and goes off on his meaningless filler side story.
Yeah it was disgusting and hard to watch very far from the 'hilarius' joke the writers thought it to be
@wasnlos2676 you're point is exactly what I was thinking.expect didn't ben possess klaus body to talk to that girl because he had a crush on her.The only problem was her thinking it was klaus and making moves which is fine if it was klausbut it wasn't and ben didn't stop her.
@@adeletaylor6143 I also wanted to say that at the beginning it wasn’t like that at all, like Elliot wanted to stay as Vanya till the end of the show or just wasn’t bothered but the producer decide otherwise I’m not sure why but maybe he wanted to be more inclusive ? clearly didn’t understand what he was doing here 💀
@killiesmom
The thing is, Elliott Page was complete willing to keep being Vanya. It was the writers that decided to have the character transition.
@@multiplemysteries5242 "It was the writers that decided to have the character transition."
I saw someone on Reddit say they felt the writers had started writing the Vanya/Victor character to be Elliot instead of Elliot playing the character of Vanya/Victor and that's why the Victor character fell so flat after season 2.
@@Briaaanzmaybe, but that's just headcanon, they Did not even hinted on anything like that. Although it is a cool thought

Since I haven’t seen a comment saying it yet: Gene and Jean felt like a cheap rehash of Hazel and Cha Cha, but without the compelling storyline or character…
Like, even the Swedes got more depth, and they barely even talked about
True Gene and Jean barely had any chemistry and it was hard to care about them when they were just obvious filler characters
I thought they were cool. But they didn’t do enough
I’m so happy to see that other people are as passionately pissed off at this season as me
The thing I hate the most about the Five x Lila stuff is it feels like Millie Bobby Brown all over again. It feels like the writers and/or showrunner were just counting down the days until Aidan came of age to sexualize him just like all those weirdos did to Millie. I can't imagine having to kiss a kid you've known since he was around 14-15 years old could have been comfortable for Ritu either.
The producers have essentially said that. 🤮
Exactly my thoughts... i cringed soo hard during their scenes and felt sorry for both of them.. :/
@@gateauxq4604 fr??🤢🤢
Why. What happened to MBB, What am I missing ?
No, I love what you said! It all makes perfect sense! But yes, none of us wanted to see it happen like that! lol
I totally agree!!
Exactly my critique
Lila def was flirty back in season 2 and they could’ve manipulated things.
Desperately trying to save the world he'd destroyed twice.
so lads, alison reset the universe in season 3 and they lived happily ever after! nothing happens after that sequence of events
Absolutely agree! Why is there a video about season 4? There’s no season 4 (I‘m coping hard)
In fact, Sloan was there in the finale. She was just behind a bush and Luther was just going to go get her
Yes, and yes. It is known. ❤
I was on the train during the 5 Lila kiss. This old man stopped to ask me if I was okay before getting on at his stop😭
I was not
That's crazy
S4 was devastating to watch.
It has nothing to do with budget or amount of episodes, the ideas/plot they came up with were absolute garbage. I'm convinced they gave the job to some interns in return for coke and this is what they came up with.
Not the coke! 😭 I wouldn’t even be surprised tbh… 😒
No. Probably Pepsi. 🤔 😂
I’ve been saying something similar. It’s like they had someone who’d only seen a few clips of the show write this season.
having them stop existing in the end is annoying BUT i would have been fine with it if the characters got like.. actual reconciliation between each other
(especially 5 & diego like they never addressed that and lila didnt even answer diego's question of if she loved him)
+ reginald getting the easy out again by being like "welll technically it wasnt me anyways im happy with my wife that i doomed the world for 🥺"
real, imagine dying with resentment and hatred against your family, is just so brutal for five and diego. and even more considering five’s character is about trying to save his family and the world in S1-S3
Netflix didn’t write and direct the show, but the 6 episodes didn’t help.😔
Gurl, this eye shadow gave me more excitement and entertainment than the entirety of TUA season 4. Thank you for being as mad as I am over how they drove this once great show into the ground.
I've never seen such a blatant "Let's just throw whatever together to cash in on the last season. We don't need to keep people interested since the show is ending anyway."
I'm livid.
(But seriously the outfit and eye shadow are phenomenal.)
girl!! 😭 I'm screaming because whyyyyy did we have to go through all of this? 😢
Agreed with literally everything you said! I feel like it’s end was season 3 and I’ll forget 4 even exists
Hunh. I wonder if we could get a fan edit where we get the beautiful ending of the park and people playing, and the family coming up the elevator to it
I just finished season 4 also. I’m still trying to process everything. So many unanswered questions.
Sooo many questions, sooo many plot holes! 😭😭
@@Briaaanz i think according to canon ur right, but i don’t know how to feel abt that storyline either. the commission was such a strong enemy organization in the first 2 seasons … and then five revealing he founded it was retrospectively kinda meh. it was cool in the moment, but the implications are so confusing lol.
i think it was better as an opposing force protecting a single timeline. the extra confusion is not needed at all and weakens the gravity of everything imo
do you know how this plays out in the comics?? i’m interested in the difference between the two🤔
@@aspen9059 I'm pretty sure the comics haven't gone that far yet. The show ran out of original material while back(plus, TV storyline was already a lot different than the original)
@@Briaaanz ahh ok… i started reading the comics (slowly but surely…) recently and the differences really are large lol👍 thank you
5 obliterated the Commision so the multiverse thing was actually plausible.
It's as if the writers didn't watch previous seasons and read bad Cliff notes.
They forgot Klaus had learned to stay sober with his powers and was no longer afraid of the dead among other things. That was literally in season 3 with Regie, how could they have forgotten that and taken him back to s1 junkie Klaus? 🤦🏿♀️
They literally reduced themselves to toilet humour in episode 2
Claus was sober in the last season with his powers, I agree they did him dirty this season! 😢
For s4 there was no material for them to work w/ since the comics are still being made currently (i think)
Im just so sad with show. How they cannot write good characters anymore? Actors were good, but story? Awful.. Maybe I need read comics.
The comics are good
one random gripe i had with this season was the vfx!! it just felt weirdly stand-out bad and worse than other seasons (if i'm remembering correctly??) but so many times it had me just burst out laughing at the screen and by the last episode i was just sighing loudly.
Less budget is likely the problem. IIRC Netflix didn't even want to do this season bc the show wasn't "profitable" to them smh
What i hate the most about this season is that it had filler. FILLER FOR A SIX EPISODE SEASON. What a massive let down.
I actually don't mind the self sacrifice ending, it did make sense for the story but nevertheless the characters were still unfinished
One of the biggest issues is definitely Netflix itself, they forced them to make a smaller season that they had to cram an ending into within 6 episodes instead of the usual 10 or else they would've just straight up never made season 4
Because if there's one thing Netflix love, it's cancelling great shows to make shitter shows
Also a shame we never got Reggie's backstory besides a brief "our home world died"
@@shadowdweller6738 I feel like you misinterpreted what I meant, I wasn't saying the ending was good but if they'd worked on a better means for a self sacrifice ending I wouldnt have minded it
Obviously it had a ton of plot holes so it fucked it up, but what I meant was that if it was done right along with actually finishing the characters story arcs it could've been a satisfying but sad end and not the one we got
They're gonna bomb the Stranger Things ending too
noooo, i have a feeling it will be alright, like it won't be the best ending and best season ever, but it will tie the narrative nicely (please...)
@@missunknown8015 I hope I'm wrong!! But they have lost all my trust with how they handled this
Worst thing about season 4s ending is that the entire series never happened, best thing about season 4s ending is that season 4 never happened
Deliberate murder of a franchise that had so much promise
We love the actors! They were amazing. We need compensation for a poor storyline given this last season! 😢

Five and Lila, the vomit scene, baby shark, also just feel like it was all for nothing
Travesty.
THE ENDING MAKES NOOO SENSE WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER CHILDREN THAT WERE BORN THAT REGINALD DIDNT ADOPT!?!? WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?
So many flaws, but I think they only existed in season 1 timeline so they died at the end with that apocalypse event plus they are not special or relevant bcs they don’t have marigold or durango
Season 3 was not that good. But season 4 was pure garbage. You bring up SO many good points, especially like the one about Jennifer and Ben
Season 4 has whole just was not worth the wait
Apart from that the old five from season 3 was also against it when our five wanted to find a solution for the end if the World and make his family survive.
s1 was good, s2 was some of the best TV I have ever seen, s3 meh, and s4 was a complete disaster. Thank god s4 was only 6 episodes!
The acting and the aesthetic are really what carried this show if we were all being honest 😂
You need to understand it like this:
Their birth essentially is a paradox in itself and was never supposed to happen so with their births and mere existence the world was destined to end at some point sooner or later, someway or another.
Hated absolutely everything about this nonsensical, unsatisfying season!
Deleted scene?!!?! OMG where did you find it?!?! 🫨🫨🫨
I've never been so disappointed by a beloved series. It helped viewing your commentary to know it wasn't just me.
My saddest thought was that the Footloose dance off never happened, even though it really didn't!
The Sloan stuff could have been so much better if it continued into season 4, if we got a depressed Luther who is angry at Allison for all the stuff she did in season 3 and who still misses Sloan but instead we got Luther as a fun stripper and thats all he has
Absolutely disgusting the way they handled the last season. Straight up butchered the name. I can say I'm grieving what could've/should've been.
I think the thing I'm let down by the most is we never not to see Reg really bust loose as an alien like they hinted he could do in season 2.
Another thing, why is everyone calling the power juice "marigold"? Harlan came up with that name and no one else heard him say it but Viktor! If they had a scene where Harlan had a vision of Abigail saying it or something like that it would make sense but as far as we know, Harlan just made it up!
Honestly it felt like Scooby do. "Lets get the back together again and fight crime"
Where was Slone, and why did we see the impact of her absence on Luther?
The whole stuck in multiverses was exactly what happened in the new show dark matter. He and a women form a relationship cheating on his wife, they were stuck trying to find way home and decide to maybe find a new world to make a life. So so similiar.
To say I couldn't watch any second of 5 and Lila's romance scenes is an understatement... I couldn't for the life of me! I skipped and skipped to the next scene while screaming bloody murder 😅
This was such a nice season review to watch, I love your accent!
Thank you! 🥹😊
Could not agree more with the multiverse stuff. After Spiderverse, I never want to hear the word again. The device always causes more narrative problems than it fixes.
Shame on Netflix! Destroyed such a great show. The Umbrella Academy got GOT'ed! So angry!
I hated this season soooo much .. I hated that they all had to die it was the worst. What was the point in this hole show ... NOTHING I loved this show, and now I'm so depressed... yes, I was way happier with season 3 ending. I want someone to rewrite their endings. Maybe someone can write a fan function or something...
whoever made the season like that needs to be called out publicly and forced to make a statement or apology and get all the backlash and ridicule they deserve
imagine how gerard way probably feels about this knowing that his creation was treated unceremoniously like this and can and will never be redeemed. poor guy...
Finally, someone mentioning the lack of a dance sequence😞
They had that stupid Jean and Gene dance sequence which wasn't relevant to anything and just thrown in there.
He’s to blame
I wish I could erase my memory of having watched it.
The worst ending to a show I've ever seen
The relationship between Number Five and Lily was disgusting and the ending was very bad. I am very angry with the series
I have to ask… does the comic end so weirdly? And badly?
No. There are only three primary comics not including the spin offs. All seasons were “inspired” by the comics and don’t copy them directly but this one went its own route which may have been part of why it was so horrible
If I remember correctly there’s no ending in the comics, so basically this season got the GOT treatment
When I first watched this season, I was really struck how it felt like a spin off series rather than a continuing season.
they really tried to pull a Dark with that ending. Also the fact that Dark also managed to pulled it off in just 3 seasons too
Let's not forget about the writer strike
Season 4 of the Umbrella Academy was MY Game of Thrones moment 😭😭😭
i feel like we got another timeline's season 4 where the umbrella academy is a shoddy, illogically written mess. cause the one for our timeline was so neatly and smartly written and a creative, entertaining masterpiece that this has to be another timeline's version
Misfits is a good comparison cause it shares the same issue of: a great premise, but no plan beyond that
If you told me this was AI I would believe you.
There was a dance scene this season with Jean and Gene but it was so unforgettable and pointless everyone forgets it exists
They butchered tf out of this show. What happened to sloan? All that work and Ray and Alison are divorced?! The time jump with no real info on what happened to everyone during that time, just quick little snippets.
