I thought that scene was funny. As it is also one of the few scenes with them all together. But I definitely thought the humor they used in this last season was very different compared to previous seasons. Literally no snarky comments from Five and very few funny lines from Klaus---their dislogue is usually great!
Agree! Not just because of the joke itself, but because of how long and how overly drawn out the joke was. Did they have any experience in comedic writing when they drafted that?…. Also, some people found it, and I’m glad for them. But this type of humor has never been umbrellas type of humor. Like that’s not umbrellas signature unique humor that it’s known.
I rewatched season 1 right after season 4 and man, you can tell. you can tell season 4 was not the orginial plan. there was another ending plan. i really feel like it was going to loop back to season one where viktor was always meant to end the world orginially. i also think at the end, five was meant to time travel back to the time when he left.
@@Sunnysunshine626 I thought, especially after S3, that the ending was going to be going back and allowing the original apocalypse to happen, because Founder Five said "don't save the world", and Five going back and trying to prevent it was what fucked up everything to begin with
At the end of season 3, Reginald was set up to be the big bad. They should have figured out they had to go back in time to kill him when he got to earth because ever since he arrived, he was the one creating the apocalypse. THEN the heroes cease to exist(including their offspring).
Nah man I felt like they were gonna merge some of the universes together and it was gonna be alternate versions of them in the same time line. This is why they had good Ben on the subway in Korea. This is why that scene didn't play a part in it. They were gonna use the train to go to different time lines but then didn't want the budget to go to that. They decided to scrap it and just have 5 find the book out of nowhere
This season was made by an old man. Baby shark and vomit? A teenager sleeping with his sister in law? Fat jokes? This reeks of someone who didn't listen to their editors
@doro626 they consistently made like "dad bod" comments and fat jokes towards diego. But when he takes off his shirt in the CIA, hes ripped? Not only is it weird, but also just inconsistent.
The biggest issue I have is with Diego , He has one of the most OP power yet it’s made a joke out of . For example in the fight with the CIA he throws a pot and it hits the wall. The question is why ? His power is trajectory manipulation. Doesn’t matter what he throws it should always hit or reach his intended location. As shown in the mail delivery part . That’s just so stupid . Also in theory he should be able to push a person to make them fly .by redirecting the trajectory of the fall upwards . They really did him dirty in every way possible.
You want to get even MORE pissed about how much Steve didn't a give single FUCK about Diego's beautiful powers? Oh, do I have news for you...... 😏 David revealed in an interview with The Direct that during the van scene in ep. 2, they shot a sequence where Diego learned he can hold his breath for an extended period of time--not only a facet of his powers IN THE COMICS, but IN THE ORIGINAL DRAFT OF THE PILOT EPISODE!!!!!! So it was cut TWICE over the span of four seasons!!!!!! 🙃🫠 Literally got blocked by Steve on IG for how INFURIATED I got over it. 🤣
I hated the ending because whenever I watch a series and the characters either cease to exist or go back in time and change a very big detail in the plot ( looking at Trollhunters : Tales of Arcadia ) it makes me feel like I watched it all for nothing ( it may sound weird but it’s how I feel .) On another note : Lila and Five scared me and I was screaming every time they showed up on screen 😢
IK ALSO! since u rewatched all seasons, did five and lila being together makes even less sense ? I can’t remember much frm previous seasons but i remember vaguely he didn’t even look at her as an equal and was mean to her like he was to everyone else.
Yes! Because now this show canonically never happened! We suspend our disbelief to get invested in these imaginary stories in these imaginary worlds that we fall in love with, only to be told at the end that even in this fictional universe, none of this ever happened.
Since Victors role was vastly expanded for the show (compared to the comic), I think them sacrificing themselves by not only absorbing all the marigold but absorbing all the Durango as well would have been a fitting end. Maybe even have a statue erected for them and no one knows who they are but they have a statue so they must have done something great ( maybe its an alabaster statue and its actually their body, turned to a stony form).
I cried at the end of season 1 when they were all holding hands and it showed them as their kid-selves. I cried at the sort of end of s2 in that scene with Ben & Vanya/Viktor. The show stopped making me cry in s3. S4 does make me cry because I want a better last season 😂
It was the worst. Such lazy writing! The cast is extremely talented and did the best with the shite they were given but they deserved better! We the fans deserved better too
I’m not a stranger to Netflix ruining shows and their endings, but this one felt worse than the others, not only was the ending bad but the characters were completely butchered and made the show unrecognizable, Netflix has always had a hatred towards this show and it’s clear from the lack of promotion of it and the fact they were so done with it that they cut it down to 6 episodes, if this was the approach of ending the show, i would’ve rathered they cancelled it after season 3, I feel bad for the cast, they all did well with what poor writing and scripts they were given.
the issue with its “multiverse” is that they didn’t even utilise it. umbrella academy is one of the few shows that could pull it off and actually have it work (with enough care). but no, the train station was so unnecessary, it’s so annoying, it urks me so much how this show got butchered
I watched season 4 with my best friend, we are both hard core fans of the umbrella academy ( well until season 3 for me ) and we were laughing so hard at everything happening. Season 4 had so many things that didnt work, the plot holes were just too much, and the end is literally coming out of nowhere. Anyways, I'll still watch season 1 and 2 at least they make sense. 😭
I love Umbrella Academy and I won’t let season 4 make me hate the series but it absolutely let us down in the final season . Netflix sucks and once stranger things is gone , I’m canceling my subscription . I feel like Netflix knows they’re losing subscribers so they want to go back at us lol
The plot makes no sense, Abigale knew about the town Jennifer was in, she had the Marigold, she can wear people's skin... She wasn't smart enough to wear someone's skin who lived in the town and dump the Marigold, she gave them to get their powers back, all over Jennifer and start the cleanse. This season made me sad every episode and not for the right reasons.

I thought the same thing. Why go through the Umbrella Academy if she can just do it herself?
You know, I just feel helpless against companies like Netflix or Disney. First they make/buy titles you love, then they ruin them and there is nothing you can do about because let's be frank - they don't care about our subscription. If not you, if not me, there is going to be someone else that is going to buy it. They are just too big to fall and too big to care about their customers. Are we even still their customers?
I'm very glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Marigold name thing! TBPH, I didn't even really like than name in S3. It was so weird seeing everyone using it like it's well known. At least Reginald said "the particle *we know as* Marigold", otherwise it would've implied that Marigold is the OFFICIAL name of this ELEMENT, and Harlan just so happened to guess it correctly. Maybe he sensed that that's its name in the same way he sensed it as it was about to impregnate their mothers.
Klaus floated like he did in the comics which was nice. Also if i had a dime for everytime robert sheehan played an immortal who gets trapped in a coffin id have 2 dimes i guess
Wow! You picked out so much that might have flitted through fans heads, briefly while watching, but didn't really go deeper. Especially the Marigold. As you said, tons of people had the Maeigold in all timelines. Anyway, I finished ep 6 yesterday, and it was sad the way the writers just ripped the show away like they did.
All your points very true, so much better options even with just 6 episodes. Wonderful characters and actors, so we will just have to live with the alternate ending in our heads. Loved the Viktor sucking out all the Marigold and sacrificing himself and all of them appearing in resorted timeline in different places happy (Luther with Sloane and the existing parents with their now logical to keep existing children).
What makes me mad that I’ve not seen anyone mention is I heard about budget cuts from Netflix and so what should have happened was Steve should have changed the way the cleanse blob looked cuz that would have cut down some cost of cgi(like making Ben and Jennifer really powerful together trying to kill anything and everything because they think everything is going to hurt the other) and also used fake puke in the car puking scene cuz you can not convince me that wasn’t cgi(aside from when Diego starts to throw up) they could have made more episodes if they had done this cause Steve himself said they could have done a couple more episodes. He was so dead set on this blob bs that he ate up that budget with cgi.
Why were Reggie and Abigail wearing their human masks on that first planet that was destroyed? The one with spaceships taking off. You cant tell me that was Earth. Shouldn't the ghost dog have been able to dig Séance out ? I would have liked nice ghost Ben to appear along with Sparrow (mean) Ben. I think they forgot Five was fifty something years old. I would have liked to have seen the COMPETENT leader ( Captain America-esque even) Version of Number one ( Spaceboy) with the jetpack and ray gun. I would have liked to see Allison's first daughter come back and maybe her and Luther remember that day they had together that was erased. I would have liked the version of Seance from the comic book ( the lovable one) to maybe make an appearance. I would have liked to find out who created the hotel. Even if we find out it was just Five encountering alien's then going back in time to make it all. Since their bio mothers should have been alive in the season 4 timeline, it would have made sense for at least one of them to visit their biological mother. I thought it was going to be Ben, since we saw him on a train in Korea and I think that was the area she was from. Especially Diego who was a huge mommas boy in the earlier seasons. Pogo. Actually I would have liked way more intelligent apes like the comic. Rather than have Allison's husband ( Ray was his name? ) just leave, have him struggle to be a man out of time. Black man from the 60s in the 90's. No identification ( or your identification says you're 30 years older than you're supposed to be). That had to be interesting to explore. Maybe they explored it in season three and I just forgot? Get rid of the ENTIRE Klaus getting kidnapped and used by the biker gang unless you make better use of it. In the hazel and Cha-Cha solo comic was there a whole squad of crazy killers like them?
@@kateausten6450 He mentioned creators. In the comic book he made it to hold criminals if I remember. ( edit) He build the hotel around the door way, but the machine on the other side was made by someone else in the show).
I rewatched the full series after being depressed about season 4 and I noticed something else as well. In season 3 episodes 6 and 7 several of them independently mention Ben dying because of "The Jennifer Incident" without anymore context. In season 4 no one knows how Ben died until the other Reginald hooks them up to the memory machine. The whole thing is so beyond frustrating. Can we start a petition / crowd fund for an alternative season 4 with the original cast but a different show runner?
I thought that this season (because of season 3) would have the following: 1. Allison resetting the world would cause a double of Ben and the Sparrows to be revived (hence the Ben on the train at the end of season 3. She brought back her team and the Sparrows, both of which had a Ben.) 2. Luther finding Sloan after searching for a couple years (I'm fine with a couple time jumps/montage to just show him looking around and them slowing find other Sparrows after they see Allison on a movie poster with and a magazine with her and her family and going to confront her (point 4)). 3. Diego and Lila trying to ignore the call to adventure with her pregnancy and maybe have it that she lied and is now trying to get pregnant without Deigo noticing (hinted at with the sushi in season 3). She does and he catches her but with the positive pregnancy test and he forgives her because they're both messed up but in love. They do somewhat manage to resist the call to adventure until the climax of the season when they have to join whatever the big fight is 4. The siblings confronting Allison and having her reveal she brought the Sparrows back too but doesn't know where they all are. She rushed and focused on her life, made sure to bring everybody back to life (even the Sparrows), take away the powers (the group is divided on this), her siblings and Lila being together, then there was whatever Reginald put in for himself. So she forgot to build them a backstory and doesn't know where the Sparrows are, just that they are alive. So maybe a bit of the siblings needing to figure out what this tineline has for them and of course eventually finding the duplicate Ben, aka their Ben
Klaus got butcher in this season. Klause from a guy with confident, drug free, not scare of his power and ghost then Klaus became worst the the version of him in season 1
THANK YOU for mentioning where the hell the name marigold comes from. that was the first thing i noticed. harlan literally made it up to give a name to his powers growing up😭 where the hell were abigail or reggie to learn this ??
are they intentionally making shows bad so that people feel unfulfilled and need to stay subscribed and watch new content? Endgame switched so many MCU fans off because it was such a perfect ending, maybe Netflix ‘s show strategy is to do the complete opposite.
The thing for me is Klaus and Luther both mention "the Jennifer incident" as reference to how ben died in season 3. So why does no one remember in season 4 how he died and act like they don't know who Jennifer is?
Before the season started, Abigail knew where all the marigold was and she knew where Jennifer was. All they say they need for the cleanse is just for the marigold and durango to interact. Why go through so many hoops about it?
Yep the writers completely forgot about the 30 or more Five’s in the subway diner with each other in close proximity and none of them going through Paradox Psychosis and killing each other, unless they somehow managed to import the ability of the operations bunker from the Temps Commission?
As for the fact that only they had to sacrifice themselves... Harlen killed 27 of the mothers, so there was only 16 left and for all we know they could have died from any old thing. Without Reginalds intervention Luther would have died from an explosion.
Also as the timelines are established as slightly different versions of reality happening at once, then there’s a chance that Abigail will conduct her experiment again in the ‘one’ timeline and screw up her planet and die again, causing her husband to release the Marigold again and start the cycle once more. And if not her then someone else will eventually do the same experiment and it will all occur again, spaghetti timelines.
I agree with all of that but the reason that allison doesnt have to say i heard a rumour is because in series 3 viktor amd harlan put some of their power in allison and when she has an argument with viktor she tells him to his his nouth without saying i heard a rumour
i thought the pacing was off compared to previous seasons, but overall, loved it. perfect ending. at least my initial impression. was shocked to see everyone online disliking it. but then again, not really lol i remember game of thrones season 8 too
As it was ,the best thing about series 4 , was that it was only 6 episodes . Not since Heroes has a series sqandered its own premis and failed so abjectly at delivering a satisfying , logically or tonally consistent ending. The script needed several more passes before getting anywhere near a sound stage. I blame it on the writer's strike.
The conclusion of this season make me feel like the show was just the producers retaining engagement on netflix metrics with explosions and complicated plots, changing the rules every season and squeeze as much season as they can but they don't care to give a good conclusion, they just kill the show when is not engageging enough. Any show need more that 3 season if the episodes are 1 hour.
I agree: I thought this show would have a great final season. I was telling everyone to watch it because of how good the first three seasons are, but then... the final season came out. And, suffice it to say, I no longer recommend the show because of how bad the final season is.
I agree with so many of your constructive critiques, but is it fair to assume that the fault lies with Netflix? Who hired the bad riders? Why did the show winner release so many statements saying that this was going to be an amazing season for fans? Like how do you know blame lies solely with Netflix
Skipped through episodes 2 and 3, because they were dull & boring. And after watching the reviews I completely disliked the show sooooooo much, I refuse to finish watching it at all! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!
Season 4 is bad because comic book of umbrella academy is not complete and show is doing his own thing because they don't have any sorce material that why season 3 and 4 sucks
Trash season. I may rewatch the first three, but I won't ever again acknowledge this one. It damages the characters too much. These epic shows continue to prove how hard it is to stick the landing. Makes Endgame that much more of a special thing
Ogni video che guardo in cui viene analizzato lo schifo che hanno prodotto penso che praticamente avremmo fatto tutti maglio di loro.. tutti! Questa stagione è stata orribile da vedere e seguire. They do somewhat manage to resist the call to adventure until the climax of the season when they have to join whatever the big fight is
4. So maybe a bit of the siblings needing to figure out what this tineline has for them and of course eventually finding the duplicate Ben, aka their Ben
funny update: the rotten tomatoes score is lower now, dropped to a 54% for critics rating. thought that was funny
The only time I had ever skipped around in a show(especially to avoid listening to Baby Shark)
Klaus got butcher in this season. Klause from a guy with confident, drug free, not scare of his power and ghost then Klaus became worst the the version of him in season 1
THANK YOU for mentioning where the hell the name marigold comes from. that was the first thing i noticed. harlan literally made it up to give a name to his powers growing up😭 where the hell were abigail or reggie to
learn this ??
This was character assassination at its worse
I was gonna cancel Netflix anyway and this just did it. Let me know when there's something worthy coming out.
are they intentionally making shows bad so that people feel unfulfilled and need to stay subscribed and watch new content?
And if not her then someone else will eventually do the same experiment and it will all occur again, spaghetti timelines.
every information we got in season 4 was so last minute. it was like 'now it means this so we do this' and then onto the next thing..
I agree with all of that but the reason that allison doesnt have to say i heard a rumour is because in series 3 viktor amd harlan put some of their power in allison and when she has an argument with viktor she tells him to his his nouth without saying i heard a rumour
also on five and lilac david casteneda (diego) litterally confronted the showrunner trying to change it
i thought the pacing was off compared to previous seasons, but overall, loved it. perfect ending. at least my initial impression. was shocked to see everyone online disliking it. but then again, not really lol i remember game of thrones season 8 too
Five was completely abolished. This is not Five anymore
After watching season 4 i honestly can say that the series ended for me in season 3 where they went to their own ways without any dissapointment.
I’m so fed up with season four so I’m making my own
The conclusion of this season make me feel like the show was just the producers retaining engagement on netflix metrics with explosions and complicated plots, changing the rules every season and squeeze as much season as they can but they don't care to give a good conclusion, they just kill the show when is not engageging enough.
Any show need more that 3 season if the episodes are 1 hour.
the magicians already did this other timeline love story..and they did it endlessly better.
I agree: I thought this show would have a great final season. I was telling everyone to watch it because of how good the first three seasons are, but then... the final season came out. And, suffice it to say, I no longer recommend the show because of how bad the final season is.
I liked the show a lot, but after s4, this is right up there with GOT S8. I will never watch another show made by the show runner. Dead to me.
it felt so weak of an ending
I agree with so many of your constructive critiques, but is it fair to assume that the fault lies with Netflix? Who hired the bad riders? Why did the show winner release so many statements saying that this was going to be an amazing season for fans? Like how do you know blame lies solely with Netflix
Skipped through episodes 2 and 3, because they were dull & boring.
And after watching the reviews I completely disliked the show sooooooo much, I refuse to finish watching it at all!
VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!
Don't mess with TUA writers, they don't watch their own show.
Season 4 is bad because comic book of umbrella academy is not complete and show is doing his own thing because they don't have any sorce material that why season 3 and 4 sucks
It's ok to hate it.. I did, thanks Netflix
Another case of make the money and run
it was better than 3...
Did anyone else flinch at 8:37?
The five x lila thing is so fucking bad five has always been my favourite, i genuinely refuse to watch s4. Steve blackman when i catch u.
Well the title of the video is easy to answer, watch season 4.
Very disappointing, might as well have left it at season 3
700th subs w
It left nothing but a taste of garbage in my mouth. Horrible
Nah I hate it. This season was almost all shit
Trash season. I may rewatch the first three, but I won't ever again acknowledge this one. It damages the characters too much.
These epic shows continue to prove how hard it is to stick the landing. Makes Endgame that much more of a special thing
Hot take 5 and Lila was the only good thing about season 4
Wow what a horribly wrong opinion lol
@@potato-whizNah, Five and Lila’s relationship was the best of season 4. I wish it lasted longer.
That's not a hot take, that's delusion
You took your pysch eval. yet?
Ew you into your younger in laws bro
The community of diversity and acceptance…. Dislike.
He is right in that there was acceptance of V
So edgy. You win the whole comment section.
You lost me when you HAD TO REFERENCE THE DIVERSITY. How about just cast the best people. Or hire the best people
