- I rebuild the power steering pump on my 1JZ S13 drift car!
I thought it would be easier than that but it turned into a disaster! Come watch what not to do with your power steering pump! HAHA

10 points for giving it a crack and not being afraid of the outcome . Thats awesome that you didnt give up and reassessed and found the issue
the main seal you pressed in looked like you damaged it when you pressed it in . them seals you find a socket that sits on the outside of the seal , if you press anywhere away from the outside you slightly bend the sealing part and oil will sip out .. been there done that , double work you can call it lol.. bets of luck , love how your willing to learn and have common sence .

Props for giving everything a go. To add to Migs comment - Where possible, its also worth using the old seal/bearing as a guide for pressing/tapping in a new one (identical in size , and if it gets scored up or damaged on the top side in the process, doesnt matter as its getting binned after anyway)
At least you persevered Mika and gave it a go, smart to buy a new one and you can give the rebuild another go later

I wonder if it needs a special sleeve or similar size clamp or press cap. But live and learn, all in all not that bad. You definitely taught me some new things as well. The new pump looks good and Sally is looking super clean. Very interesting and informative video. Can't wait to see how the new pump works out.
