Small world! My Cirrus was based in VNY and that’s where I picked it up when I bought it. Before I could leave it needed a pressure check on the exhaust, and your same mechanic did that for me!
Knowing the highways helps flying under San Francisco's class B, too. In fact, the airspace actually seems to be shaped just for that. I came in there from the south to land at Palo Alto on 8-10-96, the night of that huge west coast power outage. People still drive during a power outage, so the highways were the only thing I could see.
Wolficorn I’ve flown in for it 4 times. What....an experience! I’ll see if I can wrap stuff up and stretch my Tigers legs a bit. Only about 900 nm for me
Steve Mullin anything is possible with $$$ I suppose. I’ve got FIS-B weather, which is delayed, like you said. For the kind of flying I do...that is just fine. I won’t fly IFR with embedded storms so the storms that are there...I will be able to see visually. As the saying goes....there are old pilots and there are bold pilots but there are no old, bold pilots.
That flight was to fix a crack in the exhaust. I think the audio issue you are referring to was fixed by changing some audio settings on my Garmin GPS/Radio.
The best way would be to subscribe to the Grumman Gang email list and then join the multiple Grumman FB groups, including for Gary's shop, AUCountry. The planes often pop up on these sites first. Also, Fletchair in Texas is a good resource. As you may have heard, the good ones get scooped up super quick. I'm talking hours after being listed. Good luck!
Av8rMark Sounds like several people who watch my videos will be there. I’ll be airplane camping. I’m gonna post a video once I’m settled in case anybody feels like meeting up for Grumman talk over cold beers. 🍺🍺
@@Wolficorntv Hope I'm doing this right...as a long-time Grumman-American CFI, I once flew an AA-5 Traveler for my IFR training. On the panel was a placard which read: Turn Off Strobes In Clouds, Fog, And Haze. Taxi With Strobes Off. Oh, Fog Off...

There by Air that’s so funny. Yeah, Tim is a great guy.

I need to do the city tour up in SF one of these days.
Very informative! Thank you.
Glad you liked it Larry.
Also heading to Oshkosh in a Tiger from CA. Hope to see you there.
coolsunrise Awesome...I’m an Oshkosh virgin so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be camping. Would be great to meet some fellow Grumman people.
I was gonna make it this year but not looking promising. Have great trip!
This will be my first Oshkosh. Looking forward to it! Hope you can make it!

Always wanted to fly to oshkosh....maybe when I buy my first plane...or if someone needs a copilot. Working on my instrument at VNY.
Steve Mullin yeah my first time to go. It’s me, a buddy and camping gear for a week. 🛩⛺️
@@Wolficorntv let me know how it goes. I have a friend in OKC who has a Tiger and I told her she should try going sometime.
Can you put on board radar in a Tiger? Weather in the midwest can get nasty in summer and I dont think stratus is enough with it's time delay.

So that fix put a stop to that ticking noise that is audible on your flight to KVNY?

Sounds like an engine noise, I found this video from your post on pilots of America in response to engine noise.
@@msstaceystento ah. you are probably hearing sounds from the crack in my exhaust.
Interested in purchasing a Tiger would you recommend talking to Gary Vogt first? Anyone else? I am in Texas.

Hi. As a retired CFI, I would like to give you a "tip". At night, DON'T use your strobes while taxiing. You're welcome. No charge.
That's a good reminder! Thx for the "free" advice :)

BTW, Love your videos! That's a nice Tiger! Cyndi, Texas Grumman CFI
